Chapter 36 (Final Chapter)

"So what time do you have the chapel reserved for?" Avi asks as he looks at the wedding bands they had bought for the millionth time.

"Three o'clock." Tim answers as he lays down to rest on the bed of the cabin they had rented.

Avi smiles as he sets the rings on the nightstand and lays down with his fiance.

"I just want something simple." Avi says as he snuggles up to Tim. "Big weddings are so over-rated. Mitch and I had a huge wedding and you see how that turned out."

"I'm not a fancy type of guy so I'm glad you feel that way." Tim smiles as he kisses Avi on the forehead.

"I just wish my parents and Austin and Adam could have come." Avi says, laying his head on Tim's chest.

"Yeah, well, it was pretty sudden. Adam couldn't get off work." Tim says.

"You know what I want to do once the wedding is over?" Avi says as he mindlessly plays with the buttons of Tim's shirt.

"Come back here and make wild passionate love?" Tim says with a smile.

"Besides that." Avi giggles. "I want us to get in the hot tub out on the balcony with champagne. Enjoy the view of the mountains and the lake and just enjoy our new road to adventure."

"It's going to be a wild one." Tim smiles.

~~~
"Uh, excuse me." Avi giggles as he hip bumps Tim from in front of the mirror. "I need to get ready too."
"They definitely wasn't thinking when they put such small bathrooms in these cabins." Tim chuckles as he steps back from the mirror to let Avi in front of him.
"Very cozy." Avi smiles as he wiggles his butt against Tim's crotch area.
"Uh, Uh. Don't start anything." Tim chuckles as he steps out of the small bathroom. "We're saving that for later."
"Should I wear my hair in a man bun or down?" Avi asks as he brushes his hair.
"I like it down. It's sexy." Tim smiles. "You need to get a move on or we're going to be late for our on wedding."
"Can't have that." Avi says as he runs pass Tim to grab his clothes. "How'd you get ready so fast?"
"I don't primp." Tim chuckles as he pops Avi on the butt.
"Well, I want to look extra nice, after all, this is my wedding day." Avi laughs.
Within twenty minutes they were in the car heading up a mountain road.
"You sure we're heading in the right direction?" Avi asks as he looks out the window at the forest on both sides of the narrow road.
"I surely hope so." Tim says. He himself was beginning to get worried. "This is Ozark Ridge Road isn't it?"
"Yeah, but I haven't see any form of life since we've been on it." Avi answers.
"Wait. What does that sign say?" Tim asks as he points.
"Ozark Ridge Wedding Chapel straight ahead." Avi reads. "Hallelujah!"
Tim pulls into the parking lot only seeing one car. The pastor's, he presumed. Another wave of worry came over him. Where are the others?
The small log chapel was beautiful. Nestled in the surrounding woods.
"Oh, my God." Avi breathes as they get out of the car. "Baby, this beautiful. It's perfect."
"I'm glad you like it." Tim says as he looks around nervously.
"Like it? I love it." Avi says as they walk up the steps.
Tim opens the door to allow his fiance to walk in first.
"OH, MY GOD!!" Avi screams out.
"SURPRISE!!" The Kaplans, Adam and Austin shout out.
Avi turns around and hits Tim in the chest.
"You said they weren't coming." Avi says as he laughs through his tears.
"I was beginning to think they hadn't." Tim smiles.
"We hid all the vehicles." Austin grins as he grabs Tim into a tight hug. "Congratulations."
"You didn't actually think we would miss your wedding did you?" Shelley laughs as she hugs her son.
The ceremony was short, sweet and unrehearsed. Austin and Adam stood beside Tim and Shelley and Micheal stood beside Avi.
They decided on the traditional vows. Things were happening so fast that neither had time to prepare any personal vows. Only two things were on their minds. Getting married and getting to Minnesota where Darren was waiting on them.
The ceremony went smoothly with the exception of the elderly minister slipping up and saying 'wife' instead of 'husband' a few times. He had never married two men before.
"By the power vested in me from the state of Missouri, I now pronounce you husband and wi ... uh, husband?" The old man asks with raised brow.
Tim chuckles and nods.
"Husband." The old man corrected himself. "Tim, you may now kiss your .... husband."
Their friends and family cheered as Tim kissed his new husband.
"I am honored to be the first to introduce to you, Tim and Avi Foust." The old pastor says with a huge smile.
"OH, MY GOD!" Avi shouts as he throws his arms around Tim's neck. "YOU'RE FINALLY MINE!"
"Truthfully, I was your's at the first 'hello', I just couldn't bring myself to accept it." Tim smiles.
"Didn't I tell you that you would find me irresistible?" Avi giggles.
"Yeah, you did try to warn me." Tim laughs and nods.
"Well, I think this calls for a few drinks before we have to head back home." Micheal says.
~~
"To my new son-in-law." Micheal smiles as he raises his glass of champagne. "Thank you for putting a smile back on our son's face. For going that extra mile or should I say the extra thousands of miles to make him happy and for doing what we weren't able to do and that's to push him in the direction of his music. Without you, it may have never happened. Cheers."
"I'd also like to make a toast to Avi." Austin smiles as he stands with his glass. "When Tim left on this road trip, I had never seen him look so sad. He would smile but the smile never reached his eyes. He left looking for happiness, confidence and self-respect. He found all of that in you. One by one, you removed the bricks that he had built around his heart and you brought light back into his life. Thank-you from the bottom of my heart for saving him. Cheers."
"Sh*t, y'all." Tim chuckles as he wipes the tears from his eyes.
"Tell me about it." Avi laughs as he reaches for a napkin to dry his eyes.
After a few drinks, they all did manage to squeeze a little sight seeing in before they all went their separate ways.
 After returning to the cabin, they wasted no time in consummating their marriage. The passion they shared was overwhelming. Feeling like the first time. They fulfilled the other's need leaving their lover well satisfied.
Later that evening, the newlyweds lay in each other's arms in the hot tub gazing out across the beautiful Ozarks.
"This being in love ain't half bad." Tim smiles as he kisses his husband forehead. "Thank you for not giving up."
"Thank you for picking me up that day." Avi grins.
"Will you still love me when you get rich and famous?" Tim chuckles.
"IF I get rich and famous, I'll have you to thank." Avi says as he raises up and kisses his husband softly. "And yes I will still love you and I want you right by my side."
"To us and our new journey." Tim smiles as he holds up his glass of wine.
"Amen." Avi giggles as they clink their glasses together.
~~~

"Well, I thought maybe yall might had a change of heart." Darren laughs as the couple walk into the studio.

"No way." Avi laughs and then holds up his left hand. "We just had something to take care of first."

"You guys got married? Oh, man, that's awesome. Congratulations." Darren says before giving them both a hug. "Welp, you ready to get started?"

"Let's do this." Avi grins.

Wasn't long before Avi was in the recording booth with his guitar singing one of the songs he had written while on the road.

Tim stood nervously behind Darren as the producer listened with great interest.

When Avi finished the song, Darren turns around in his chair and grins.

"We have us a star." He smiles as he gives Tim a high five.

~~~ FIVE YEARS LATER ~~~
A year after his divorce came final from Avi, Mitch had sold his house and moved into the house that Scott had bought. Things where great until two years ago. His life took a drastic downfall. Scott confessed to being in love with someone else and kicked him out with nothing but the clothes he brought with him.
He was now living in a shabby one room apartment.  Mitch sighs as he takes his tv dinner from the microwave and walks over sitting down on the stained couch.
He sits his food on the coffee table and picks up the remote, turning on the tv. He picks up his food and stirs the mash potatoes slightly ignoring the award show that was on until something caught his attention.
"And the Grammy for 'Best Album' goes to ..... 'Road To Nowhere' Avi Kaplan Foust, Skyland Records!!"
Mitch's mouth drops and so does his fork when he sees his ex stand from the second row, dressed in a beautiful tuxedo. Avi grabs the man beside him and hugs him with all his might. Mitch recognizes him as the Texan on the beach.
Avi hurries to the stage and takes the Grammy.
"Holy Moly!" Avi smiles as he stares down at the Grammy. "This is a dream come true. God, I have so many people to thank. The fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My parents, I love you. Darren Rust at Skyland Records, you gave me the chance nobody else did. And to Tim, my wonderful husband and manager. Thank you for picking up that hitch-hiker on the interstate and for pushing him to fulfill his dream. Our long journey in that old convertible led to a new beginning." He finishes his speech by blowing a kiss to his husband who was smiling proudly with tear-filled eyes.
"Well, son of a b*tch." Mitch says as he stares in shock at the tv.
