I can live here as one of you,
Without the fear of anyone discovering the truth
AVALON SITS ON THE BOAT ALTISSIA PROVIDED THEM TO HEAD BACK TO CAPE CAEM, the ocean didn't seem beautiful to her after everything that happened. Noctis sat by himself, Prompto and Ignis sat down talking to Gladio who stood beside them. Avalon stayed near the back trying to ignore everything that Ardyn had told her. Taking a deep breath looking at her hand as they shake a little bit, sighing a little bit she puts her hand down and begins to fall asleep.
Before she could, they were in Cape Caem and Avalon quickly got off and headed somewhere without any word to the men. She just needed time alone for a little bit. When she got into the voice, she followed the voice that guided her somewhere. When she reached her destination, she looks around panting. And then, she collapses.
~
Avalon stood by herself in an unknown land. The wind was silent against her ears as it pushed her hair behind her. Her sea-green eyes glanced around her surroundings, it was peaceful here. Pushing her lips tightly together, she looks behind her seeing a being now in front of her. It was a vivid mint color and her hair was wild and crazy.
"Who..." Avalon begins questioning, stepping forward once. "Who are you?"
It began speaking in a different language, but - Avalon could easily understand it. Avalon stared at it intently not knowing what to say.
As they continue speaking in their native tongue, Avalon listened to them as they explained who they were. Avalon then begins following them wondering where they were taking her.
"Welcome to the land of the Espers, Avalon." The being welcomed her pushing the drape of leaves away and Avalon stood in awe. It was beautiful, she cautiously walks in seeing quite a few Espers floating around. And cherry blossoms falling down with a bridge in the distance and then around her was green grass and more cherry blossom trees. A smile graces her lips.
Avalon was so starstruck she didn't know what to say. "It's so... beautiful here."
"We've prospered for many eons to keep it this way, but when one of our own left around five hundred years ago, it slowly began to die." He spoke floating in front of her. "She was part of this place and she left, she took the life with it. But eighteen years ago, we noticed life beginning to come back to this place."
Avalon was shocked once more. "Eighteen years... ago?" queried Avalon letting out her heavy breath and looking around seeing different Espers floating towards her. "You mean...?"
"Yes, your mom was from here, and she was the most powerful Esper here." The man responds landing in front of her. "You look so much like her that it's unbelievable." He reaches to touch her face gently. Avalon just stood there while he did, she felt his warm hand touch her cheek and stroke it gently with his thumb. "I can even feel her power dwelling within you."
"You... You can...?" questions the young girl as the Esper nods.
"It seems it broke free recently. Tell me, do you remember anything when your power unleashed?" Avalon shakes her head. "It must've been a rush then."
"I honestly don't remember it breaking free..." Avalon tells him looking down almost sadly with a sigh escaping her lips. "I remember fighting against Ardyn and then the next thing I knew, I'm with Ignis..."
The Espers eyes widen at Ardyn's name, and the Espers everywhere began whispering. The elder Esper stares at her.
"You fought Ardyn?"
Avalon looks up while nodding confused and they continue whispering. "Is there a problem because I'm missing something...?"
"Ardyn has been hunting us down for centuries now, he wants to exterminate us because we also have the power to eliminate his presence."
Avalon took a deep breath and sighs. "Look, he's not going to find you. It's Noctis he wants." She explained to them. "Noctis is the Chosen one, he's the only one who can do that to Ardyn, or at least that's what I'm told." She continues explaining. "We will fight him until then, you will not be involved, that I promise you."
The Elder one looks at her with a smile and nods, happy she was willing to keep their secret hidden from the outside world. "Now, when I touched you it seemed something troubled you. Would you care to explain what is on your mind?"
"It was what Ardyn told me..."
Avalon begins to remember what Ardyn said; "You should really put up a fight because you're going to die if you don't. You're so weak you hide behind those strong men you're with. They do all the fighting while you what? Stand on the sidelines and heal them with your potions and elixirs? Pathetic."
"I just..." Avalon began tearing up once more as the forbidden tears escape her eyes and down her cheeks. "I just want to become stronger... I want to help my friends complete this... But I just..."
"You're strong enough, I don't know why you listened to him." One of the Espers spoke floating up to her. Avalon looked up seeing a vivid maroon color Esper floating in front of her. "You have a heart of a warrior and honestly, he cannot take that away from you."
Avalon smiles at him and nods. "Is it possible for me to call upon the power dwelling within me?"
"Let's begin, shall we?"
~
Avalon panted sliding back on the ground trying to prevent the magic from attacking her, her staff in her hand holding it tightly. She had casted Great Gospel on herself but it didn't seem to work. The energy they were casting toward her wasn't doing anything. Letting out one last gasp she thumps into the ground hard trying to regain her breath.
"Oh my, this isn't good." said one of the Espers. "She can't tap into that energy that she did before."
"You can definitely tell she's trying so hard to do so." implored another sighing very worriedly.
Another implied, "If she doesn't do so soon, she's doomed and will be killed by Ardyn,"
Avalon yells in anger, standing on one knee. "Don't. You. Ever say that." She growls angrily, glaring at them. "I'm going to ruin him if he hurts my king. My Liege. My best friend." She stands up waddling to stand, "I will become strong, I want my friends to see that I am strong enough to protect our king." She then feels the power released from her body. Her eyes turn white and that's when the Espers begin to worry.
"Do not worry my people, we will not let her hurt us. She'll be in control." The leader assured them, holding out a hand to stop them from interfering with whatever was happening to Avalon and watching her closely.
Avalon yells in pain grabbing her head and dropping her staff on the ground. The marks appeared back on her skin and her clothes changed into her battered rags covering her curves and other places once more. Fighting with her head to take control of the form, the rags changed into a beautiful short dress. Her eyes then turn back to normal as she pants trying to regain her breath again. Looking down, she sees her clothing had changed. Avalon sees a dress covering her lady bits and sees the white markings on her body. She touches her forehead feeling the jewel in the middle of it.
"What... what is this?" asked a shocked Avalon trying not to freak out so much. The elder Esper chuckles floating up to her and another Esper grabs a mirror quickly. When the one Esper returns with a mirror, Avalon stares at her reflection.
Avalon couldn't believe it, she could hardly recognize herself. Her long brown hair had streaks of peach in her hair and it was curled into perfect ringlets hanging against her back and across her shoulders, her bangs framing her cheeks flawlessly. The dress was almost the same color as the streaks in her hair, if not lighter. The dress covered her lady bits like she saw before her, but she could see it more clearly.
It started from her right shoulder and casts down and across her breasts tightly, wrapping around her back and draping around her hips covering everything down low. Avalon noticed she was also barefoot, but she could see the markings on her legs, she saw the markings on her arms as well. Avalon saw the color white on them, they were making a butterfly in some places, and others were just beautiful lace markings. She stares at her forehead seeing the lace piece was bigger than the others, but not enough to cover her full forehead. It was shaped like a crown with a ruby in the middle.
All in all, she looked beautiful. Taking in the image deeply into her mind.
"How come I'm not the color you all are?" questions the young woman staring at them.
The elder laughs, "Because you are a halfling. Halflings always look like this, if not much different." He explained. "Now, let's start working on controlling this form so you can call on it if you wish."
Avalon nods, getting into a stance facing the Esper she was currently against. And with that, she continues on with her training making sure to beat the Esper that was helping her, working on the magic and everything else that came with being a halfling Esper.
~
Avalon groans awake back in the forest she ran off to, she opens her eyes and gets up slowly while holding her head. She could hear her name being called, blinking a few times she turns around seeing Prompto running towards her. Gladio, Ignis, and Noctis were trailing behind him slowly.
"Ava!" calls Prompto running towards hugging her tightly when he reaches her. Avalon blinks almost shocked keeping her arms locked at her sides. "Where did you go?!"
"I was out here, apparently sleeping," Avalon answers as Prompto breaks away from her. "Sorry I ran away, I was just..."
"No need to explain, Little One, we'll talk more when we get ready to head to Gralea."
Avalon blinks again and nods. She smiles as they all begin heading back to Cape Caem once more, prepping for their trip to Gralea.
