34. Something Out Of Nothing
'Here it goes again,' thought Namjoon as he watched Hobi and Jungkook rummage through the cupboards for something to eat once they had found a safe location to stay for the night.
Namjoon didn't know where in time they were, but it didn't matter to him. They were in the depths of some kind of forest that seemed to be completely isolated, so he doubted they were going to get caught. All they needed was a little food and rest before they could continue on their journey, but food seemed to be the topic of intense debate at the moment.
'They act like they are going to starve to death,' thought Namjoon as he watched Jungkook slam a cupboard, jumping Hobi beside him.
"How are we out of food again?" asked Jungkook. "Didn't we just get supplies?"
"Jungkook, we'll be fine," said Namjoon. "I saw there was a box of saltines and some bread in one of the cupboards you were looking through. We can just have that until tomorrow."
"What? Are we in prison?" asked Jungkook.
Seokjin, who sat at the table nearby with Taehyung, turned his head to look out the window at the dark forest they were currently parked in before standing up.
"We could always go scavenge," suggested Seokjin. "There's probably something to eat out in the forest."
"Scavenge?" asked Hobi.
"He means look for our own food," said Jungkook as he locked eyes with Seokjin. "Do you know how to scavenge?"
"I do. I lived on an alien planet for a while. If I didn't scavenge, I wouldn't eat. "
"Alright then. Let's go. You, me, and Taehyung."
"Why me?" asked Taehyung.
"Because I said so," said Jungkook as Taehyung sighed, getting up from where he had been sitting without arguing the point any further.
Namjoon watched as the three of them disembarked the RV and disappeared into the surrounding woods. Shutting the door behind them, Namjoon went to go pick up his grandfather's journal. They had almost located all of them. There was only one remaining. Suga, who was sitting half lounged in the passenger seat as he obviously tried to fight off sleep, looked over at Namjoon as he moved to sit in the driver's seat with the journal.
"What's the last sentence say?" Suga asked.
"He thought he was a failure for forging a different path, hiding himself in the shadows because of it. I tried to convince him otherwise - but in the end - I lost him," read Namjoon.
"Okay so we're looking for a vampire."
"A vampire?" asked Namjoon as he saw Suga smirk slightly.
'Yep, Suga is definitely sleep deprived,' thought Namjoon as Suga nodded his head.
"You do know those aren't real, don't you?" asked Namjoon.
"Neither was I until a couple days ago..."
Namjoon rolled his eyes, looking at Suga as he half lolled his head against the head rest.
"Why don't you go sleep on the bed with Hobi?" asked Namjoon. "We're safe here and you obviously need sleep."
"I don't..."
"Here, I have an idea."
Namjoon put the journal down, moving to go into the small bathroom the RV had. Opening one of the drawers in there, he grabbed his bottle of sleeping pills before coming back out to where Suga still sat.
"I think you should try these."
Suga took the bottle from Namjoon's outstretched hand as he read the label.
"Sleeping pills? Why would I take those? I know how to sleep. I just choose not to."
Sighing, Namjoon sat down in the driver's seat again so that he could try to reason with Suga, hoping that it wouldn't prove to be an uphill battle.
"I think you're like me that sometimes you can't shut your brain off," Namjoon said. "Taking these pills takes the thinking out of the equation. Whether you can shut your brain off or not, these will help you get some sleep and sleep is something you need at this point."
"But the RV..."
"Will be fine," Namjoon said, completing Suga's sentence of protest. "Seriously, just go rest. Nothing's going to happen while you're asleep for a few hours."
Suga still looked wary as he gazed at the bottle but eventually sighed, nodding his head. Getting up from the passenger seat, he moved into the kitchen area to get a glass of water as he read the directions listed on the back of the bottle. Namjoon helped him with figuring it out before also going into the bedroom area to move Hobi over to one side of the bed since he was once more in a starfish position as he snored away.
"Get some rest, Suga," said Namjoon after Suga had taken the pills. "I'll see you in a bit."
Just nodding, Suga laid back on the bed and tried to shut his eyes as Namjoon went back out to the front of the RV. Since this had all began, it was odd for him to have a moment to himself. Sitting back down in the driver's seat, he picked up the journal once more to look at that last sentence. Without realizing it, he soon fell to sleep with the journal on his chest. Everyone left aboard the RV was in such a deep state of slumber that they didn't realize that someone had approached the RV with their sword drawn, prodding the side of it for a moment before ultimately deciding to have it wheeled away through the forest to a new location.

"You don't know how to be patient, do you?"
Seokjin sighed after his question as he looked over at Jungkook who had once again scared off potential food by jumping at the opportunity to kill it way too soon. He watched the tail of the fox as it ran off into the underbrush before standing back up from his crouch. He could tell that Jungkook was glaring at him without even turning to look his way. Taehyung meanwhile stood awkwardly nearby.
"You were sitting still too long. It was about to get away anyway so at least I did something," Jungkook snapped.
Seokjin didn't know what Jungkook's backstory was, but he could definitely tell that he carried some sort of baggage with him. Seokjin supposed they all did, but it was that commonality he hoped could bind them together as family eventually. Feeling tired though, he knew that getting through to any of them, especially Jungkook, wouldn't happen in one night.
"We found some berries a little while ago. We'll have to let that be good enough for tonight," Seokjin said. "Tomorrow when it's lighter, we can try to go fishing."
Grumbling, Jungkook walked off ahead of Seokjin and back in the direction of the RV. Seokjin was pretty sure he heard Jungkook muttering something like he didn't like being bossed around, but he was too far ahead of them to be able to make it out. Taehyung lagged behind a bit, walking alongside Seokjin as they walked after Jungkook.
"You'll have to forgive him," Taehyung said. "He's been through a lot. He'll come around eventually."
"I figured as much," Seokjin said, his head whipping towards the sound of Jungkook's shout. It caused both Taehyung and Seokjin to rush towards the source of it.
When they reached the clearing, they saw Jungkook staring in disbelief before him.
"Where's the RV?" Jungkook asked, the three of them staring at the empty space where it had once sat.
