25. Pitstop
"How did you convince him?" asked Namjoon to Taehyung. When Taehyung and Jungkook had arrived back where they had left the others, Namjoon came up from the boat to greet them and Jungkook had moved off to the side to talk to Tweedle in private. From where Namjoon and Taehyung stood, Tweedle seemed to be upset to be saying goodbye to Jungkook.
Taehyung shrugged his shoulders as he kept his eyes focused on Jungkook who was currently getting an unwanted hug from Tweedle.
"I just said during the fight that he was family and it seemed to work this time. Jungkook told the entire crew of the ship that he was leaving even though he had the option of being captain now that Captain was dead."
Namjoon didn't say anymore as Jungkook came over to them then after managing to pull the teary Tweedle off him.
"I'm ready to go," said Jungkook.
Namjoon nodded; his eyes moving from Jungkook's face to the sheathed sword he wore about his waist. Jungkook followed the trail of Namjoon's gaze, smirking when his gaze landed on the sword.
"Stay on my good side and I won't use it," said Jungkook as he lifted his gaze to look back at Namjoon. Taehyung - who still stood beside Namjoon - didn't say anything.
"You can keep it, but I'm sure Suga won't be happy about it," said Namjoon.
"Even though I don't really know him yet, I'm starting to feel as if he isn't happy about much," said Jungkook.
"He used to be the built in security system on the RV," said Namjoon as the three of them started to walk back towards the boat. "Cut him and Hobi some slack. They are still learning how to be human."
"That explains a lot," said Jungkook with a smirk still across his lips.
As they walked back to the boat, Jungkook flicked his gaze over to Taehyung. Taehyung - who had taken off the dress on the walk back to join the others - had balled the dress up and was holding it pressed to his right side as he walked. Jungkook noticed but didn't say anything about until they reached the boat. Once on the boat, Jungkook plopped down to sit beside Taehyung as Namjoon debated with Suga which direction to sail to get back to where they had hidden the RV.
"Let me see," said Jungkook as Taehyung looked over at him.
"See what?"
"Don't play dumb," said Jungkook. "Move your hand and let me see the wound."
Taehyung looked down to where he still had the balled up dress pressed against his side, slowly moving it away. Jungkook reached out his hands to shove the shirt up to reveal the red gash that ran from his upper abdomen to his lower right hip.
"It fortunately doesn't look that deep," said Jungkook as his eyes took in the wound. "I can patch you up back in the RV. I'm hoping there will be a first aid kit."
"So it's not bad?"
A soft smile formed on Jungkook's lips as he shook his head. Taehyung let out a sigh of relief that he didn't know he was holding.
"You were worried, weren't you?" asked Jungkook.
Taehyung nodded.
"It hurts a lot, so I was worried it would be worse than it is."
"Sometimes the small wounds are the ones that hurt the most," said Jungkook as he paused, digging out the phone he still had with it. It barely had any charge left, but it had enough for a song or two. "I can distract you from the pain some on the way back if you want."
"With that magic box?" he asked as Jungkook let out a soft chuckle.
"It's called a phone. I have some music on it that I think you might enjoy too if you give it a chance."
Jungkook leaned to tuck one of the earbuds in Taehyung's ear as he dropped the shirt back over his wound, tucking the other earbud in his own ear. Taehyung's eyes widened as music soon filled his eardrum that was unlike anything he had ever heard before. He recognized a few instruments here and there, but the sound they produced was something out of this world. Jungkook chuckled seeing the look of childlike amazement take over Taehyung's features as the boat finally started moving back towards the RV.

Eventually they managed to make it back towards the shore they had left what felt like a lifetime ago. At least, Suga made it feel that way with his griping as he led the way back towards where the RV was hidden. Jungkook and Taehyung were walking side-by-side with their shared earbuds as the phone still surprisingly had enough juice for another few songs. Namjoon and Hobi were walking together as they followed quickly on Suga's heels.
"So where are we going next?" asked Hobi as he looked at Namjoon.
"Well, we'll have to figure that out. We still have two others we're supposedly supposed to find."
Hobi nodded his head; his stomach gurgling the more they walked. Hobi looked down at it with a frown.
"I think my stomach is broken. It's always making that noise."
"It's not broken," said Namjoon with a soft smile. "You're just hungry. We'll have to make a pitstop to pick up some food before we search for the next person. I think the RV is pretty much out."
Namjoon had to say that he was relieved when the RV finally came into view. Suga tugged open the door, standing off to the side to watch as they all entered up the small flight of steps like he was a bouncer. Taehyung took Jungkook's phone and earbuds as he entered the RV. However, when Jungkook tried to follow after him, Suga stuck out an arm to stop him seeing that the sword was still sheathed about his waist.
"No weapons."
"Too bad," said Jungkook, not making a move to be swayed.
Just when Suga was about to open his mouth to start an argument with Jungkook, Namjoon - who was already inside the RV - moved so that he was standing back near the door.
"Suga, let him on. I already told Jungkook he could keep it," said Namjoon.
"Are you stupid?" asked Suga as he wheeled to face Namjoon; Jungkook smirking from where he stood outside the RV.
"What? Are you afraid I'm going to slice you up in your sleep?" asked Jungkook, causing Suga to whip back around to face him.
"Wha-no! No, I'm not!"
"Well then, move aside so I can get on."
Suga frowned - not at all happy about the decision to let him on with a weapon - but not stopping him. Namjoon stood near the door as Jungkook entered the RV, watching as Jungkook looked around at how cramped the interior was.
"I thought I told you to lay off on Suga," hissed Namjoon under his breath.
"I have to find my fun somewhere," said Jungkook with a dismissive shrug. He moved to walk past Namjoon to where Taehyung was sitting at the table. Taehyung had his shirt rolled up again to look at the wound that was still stinging; the phone he had taken from Jungkook on the table in front of him.
"Do you have a first aid kit around here somewhere?" asked Jungkook to Namjoon as he moved to sit next to Taehyung.
Namjoon nodded. He remembered seeing one when he had been trying to straighten the entire RV up at the beginning of it all. He wandered up front, tugging open a small cupboard and pulling out a semi-battered first aid kit. He brought it back over to where Jungkook was sitting beside Taehyung, jumping a bit when Suga entered the RV and forcefully slammed the door. Namjoon handed the first aid kit off to Jungkook before turning to look at Suga as he plopped down into the driver's seat with a humph.
"For someone that's named Suga, he's not very sweet when he doesn't get his way," commented Jungkook as he moved to lay out the contents of the first aid kit to look for what he wanted.
Namjoon ignored Jungkook's comment and moved to walk towards where Suga was sitting with his arms crossed. As Namjoon sank into the passenger seat beside Suga, he heard Jungkook sass Taehyung for hissing and being a baby about the antiseptic.
"My job is to protect you - and I try - but you never listen to me..." grumbled Suga as he crossed his arms even tighter across his chest.
"You don't need to think everything and everyone is a threat all the time, nor do you always have to be ready to protect us," said Namjoon. "I want you to be able to be free to loosen up some. Enjoy life since you're a human now."
Suga turned his head to look at Namjoon with a passive face.
"Loosen up?"
"Yeah. Have some fun. Learn not to think everything is out to get you all the time."
Suga didn't say anything for a moment. Eventually he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he turned to face forward again, uncrossing his arms.
"Well, whatever. Lets just move on for now. Where are we heading next?"
Hobi - who had seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere - popped up from behind the two of their seats, causing Suga to jump and flail his arms about in some sort of lame attempt at a karate move.
"Don't do that!" snapped Suga. "What is it that you are hoping to add to the conversation?"
"Sorry, it's just I...I know we need to stop for food for the RV and I was wondering if I could put in a request."
"Let me guess..." said Suga with a sigh. "Fried chicken."
Hobi eagerly nodded his head as a small smirk worked its way across Namjoon's face.
"Lets go back to the fried chicken place we were at before," said Namjoon. "We'll restock the RV as much as necessary while there and then set out to find the other two."
Suga let out another sigh, but nodded his head as he moved to turn the RV back on. Within a matter of minutes, the pirate infested past they had once found themselves in was no more. Instead the parking lot of the chicken place greeted them. Hobi could hardly contain himself, already rushing for the door of the RV.
"A little warning next time before you leave would be nice," grumbled Jungkook from where he still sat beside Taehyung at the table, picking up all the little runaway scraps from the first aid kit.
Taehyung tugged his shirt down over the gauze wrap that Jungkook had secured about him, watching as Jungkook turned his gaze out the window of the RV by his head once the first aid kit was picked up. Taehyung caught a flicker of an emotion flash through his eyes.
"Are you okay?" Taehyung asked tentatively as Jungkook snapped out of his daze at the question, quickly nodding his head.
"I'm fine," he said quickly. "I'm just taking in the view is all."
Taehyung - remembering what Jungkook had said about where he had come from - reached out a hand quickly to squeeze one of his.
"Things will be different this time," reassured Taehyung. "You have all of us now."
Jungkook just gave a quick flicker of a smile as he nodded his head again; his eyes soon riveted towards Namjoon who was quickly following Hobi to the door of the RV.
"Wait a second, Hobi! I have to make sure I get everyone's order first..."
But Hobi - who was too excited about the prospect of fried chicken in his life once more - couldn't wait for Namjoon to finish speaking. Hobi reached out a hand to unlock and open the RV door. No sooner had the door swung open than Namjoon froze in his spot behind Hobi when he saw who was standing there.
"I thought I recognized this eyesore from my car, but I also thought you didn't know how to drive, Namjoonie," said Hajoon as he stood directly outside the RV door with that never-fading smirk curling across his lips.
Hajoon's cold eyes went from Namjoon to Hobi who had frozen in place like he was playing a game of freeze tag. A puzzled look came across Hajoon's face as he asked, "Who the heck are you?"
