Arcturus Black

Sirius had watched as all night, relatives shot his cousin very weird looks, too polite to comment on the lack of hair on the back of his head. Often, he would be talking away with someone, who would be treating him as normal, until he turned to walk away, at which point he would get a very weird look shot at his retreating figure. This went on for a couple of hours, before Arcturus' mother spotted it.
"Arcturus?" She sounded very confused. He looked towards her. "Is this your idea of a joke?"
"What?" It was his turn to be confused.
"Why this here." She came towards him and brushed her fingers over the patch of bald scalp. Arcturus' eyes widened, and his own hands flew behind his head to feel where his hair used to be.
"Uh- I- where's my hair?!" He looked quite frightened, and people in his immediate vicinity all began to stare.
"Oh, for god's sake, Arcturus. Don't tell me this wasn't your own doing?!" She sounded slightly unsure if he was acting or not, and also suprised. Her son must cause trouble a whole lot. Arcturus, however, was in panic mode.
"Mother- you must fix it at once!" He cried out, an expression of complete horror clouding his handsome features. There were a few stifled giggles from one of the very young cousins across the room. At this stage, most of the room was staring in at the scene.
"Erm... yes. Of course." She pulled her wand from her pocket. Matilda was muttering under her breath, fiddling with her wand. She paused for a moment. "Okay. Turn around and hold still." She instructed. Arcturus anxiously did as she told him to. His mother pointed her wand at his bald patch and muttered an incoherent incantation. Immediately, Arcturus' black curls sprung forth from his skull, growing to be the length of the rest of his hair. "Okay, Arcturus. All done." His mother assured him. He felt behind his head to find full, thick strands of hair in place of the bald patch. A big, relieved grin broke out across his face and people murmured to one another about it.
"Which one of you did this?" His mother's booming voice rang out, silencing the few noises being made. Her gaze roved over face after face, almost as though she was searching for some hidden emotion that would give away the person responsible. Sirius smirked in a relaxed sort of way.
"Sirius." Walburga Black skipped half a room of people to glare directly at her son. "You are responsible."
"And how do you know that? It could be plenty of other people." Sirius attempted to defend himself.
"It's always you, boy. Now go to your room, I am extremely disappointed. You will be dealt with in due course." She dismissed him. Sirius tried to hide his joy as he strolled away through the guests in the room, into the hall and proceeded up the stairs. The rest of the night to himself! This was more then he ever dreamed of at one of these terrible Black reunion things. Just as he shut the door, there was a clamouring of footsteps on the staircase, and a smart rap at the door.
"Erm... come in?" He said, confused. The door swung open, and behind it stood none other then Arcturus Black. "Can I help you, arse kisser?" He rolled his eyes and slumped diwn on his bed.
"Fuck you, I'm not an arse kisser." Arcturus cursed, and Sirius raised his eyebrows, his gaze landing on his cousin again. Arcturus shut the door with a 'bang', and moved in front of the mirror. He ran both hands through his neat curly hair, mussing it up, and then he practically attacked his dress robes, dragging out his tucked- in shirt and roughly undoing the topmost buttons of his dress shirt. "Could these things be more uncomfortable?!" He exclaimed, and then he fell onto his butt on Sirius' bed.
"Well... you're different to how I expected you to be." Sirus admitted.
"Eh? How so?" Arcturus looked kind of confused,
"Well down there you were all polite and nice to people, and now your cursing and ripping the buttons off your shirt." Sirius explained. Arcturus' bright blue eyes flicked to his face, then scanned the wall opposite.
"Buttons are frustrating." He said, and shrugged one shoulder. Sirius let out a bark- like laugh.
"Fair enough..."
"So... uh- what's going on with all the half naked muggle women and motorcycles?" Arcturus queried, gesturing to the posters plastering the sickly green wallpaper.
"Well why not, I mean it gives my parents the shits." Sirius laughed again. Arcturus scratched his curly head and stared at the posters a moment longer.
"So how come I haven't seen you around Hogwarts?" It slipped from his mouth before he had the chance to stop it. Arcturus glanced towards him.
"Cause I lived on the other side of Britain?..." he replied, like it was obvious.
"Yeah, but I thought everybody in Britain went to Hogwarts." Sirius spoke again. Arcturus laughed.
"What? Do you think Hogwarts is the only magic school in Britain?!" He said incredulously. "God no!"
"Oh..." Sirius frowned, embarrassed.
"I will be attending it from now on, though." He told Sirius.
"What house will you be in?" Sirius' interest peaked.
"I'm not sure yet. Everyone around here is in Slytherin, but to be honest, I don't think I like the whole idea of it. I'm not all that cunning or ambitious." He admitted, "and then Hufflepuff is for the helpful type, and I don't think I'm all that helpful. I cause trouble, if anything." He nodded slowly. "And I'm not brainy, or all that brave. So I guess that leaves me nowhere." Arcturus shrugged.
"Hm... well I'm a Griffindor, and it's really great. Great people, a nice dorm... all of my friends are in the dormitory with me. Griffindor is alot of fun." Sirius smiled slightly,
"I'm suprised you aren't a Slytherin, being a Black." Arcturus said quietly.
"Yeah. So was everybody." Sirius grinned. Arcturus was getting the idea that Sirius was someone who had a good sense of humour.
"Well if it's all that, and you're in it, then I hope I'm sorted into Griffindor. Besides, it'll piss of the parents, like you said." Arcturus laughed, and Sirius hi- fived him.
