You'd gone round to Archie's house to try and reason with him. Someone, Veronica, had told him that you'd cheated on him, which is entirely untrue. You knew she had a thing for him and desperately tried to keep him because you love him. He believed Veronica over you and all you felt was betrayal.

"Sure you didn't" he snapped.

"I didn't, Veronica lied"

"Why would she?"

"Because I love you?"

"Really? He turned around and gave you a look. The look you've never seen before.
