A/N: This was requested by mighty_stupidy . I do hope you'll like this oneshot and it was what you were hoping for. (Also I hope I found the correct song, I've never heard over it before and just used the top search at the time).  DianClash

Side Note: I know werecats are meant to be the cat version of a werewolf. But in this oneshot they'd be catpeople. Neko people. Those born with cat ears and tails.

Werecats had came along just after Adam and Eve, a child born by sins from two lovers who shared a bed before marriage. Their punishment for their sinned child was for it to be a werecat.

Werecats were enslaved, turned into a personal servant for whoever bought them or for the household who needed one.

But times had changed, even as titans came along. Before titans had appeared, werecats held equal rights and were making a stand in the world with their fellow homosapien's. And they kept their rights and equal footing once the titans arrived.

For the most at least, werecats were a low population compared to humans. When titans came along, the werecat's population dropped dangerously low.

A few bad souled people took the chance to try and return to dark times. Seeing werecats as a prize to steal and own while most saw them as fellow living beings as themselves.

It wasn't unusual to see werecat's in higher command, taking charge and growing in more power and riches. With how rare werecat's had became, none had wanted to risk upsetting them or making them unhappy, out of fear they wouldn't repopulate if they didn't feel respected enough as a race.

So promotions were given, better treatment was promised and the werecat's were mostly placed on top of everyone else. Jealousy and bitterness was born but a werecat's emotions were much stronger and unstable compared to a humans. Making them become low in mood and most likely to not care for their personal care if unhappy nor would they wish for marriage or a litter.

One place that no werecat was expected to be seen in was the survey corps.

No one would expect to see a werecat doing such a dangerous and emotionally unstable job role. If they survived fighting against the titans than they'd barely survive the emotional strain or survivor guilt that came afterwards.

But one werecat was stubborn and admired, Captain Levi Ackerman.

The first and only werecat to stay within the survey corps and he climbed the ranks as the years flew past. He was famous, admired and had gained plenty of respect in the years.

Most forgetting he was even a werecats until seen in person due to the rumours and his achievements. For lasting unaffected as told to be.

Many arranged marriage's and offers of marriage's had been sent towards him over the years. Many werecat's praying and willing to marry and have his litter. But he had refused each and every one.

Defeating the titans and trying to stop wasteful deaths seemed more important.

As well as his little secret, a secret of wanting to marry for love not for convivence or content-ness.

"Why didn't you tell someone you were one of us? You could have hid it as much as you want as long as you added it to your file. Only those with the right rank can look at your file. No one would have known" Levi snaps out, frustrated anger leaking into his voice as he glares towards the soldier standing on the other side of his desk. Standing relaxed and allowing their arms to lazily hang either side of their body, bracing against the two chairs tucked either side of them for guests to sit when offered.

A werecat had full right to hide their ears and tails if wished and even asked to tuck the tails away during an expedition to stop the titans from having an extra limb to grab. Everyone was supported in most decisions made but in return they ask that everyone's race, sex and real name is placed within their private files that wouldn't be opened or looked at unless needed by a higher rank who could be trusted with such information. It was important details, facts and information needed to pass on to doctors or family members if someone dies.

Hiding the fact that your a werecat from your own file was seen as an insult to the open trust, respect and understanding given out by everyone else around you. It shows you don't trust or respect the camp and all your fellow comrades around you. That you chose to stay lying to the people who held your life in their hands faces.

"It's because I'm not a werecat" Mikasa sighed with a deep frown, rolling her eyes over being accused of something she wasn't. She knew better than to lie on her personal file, everyone knew better than to lie on their own files.

"Oh, of course you're not. How silly of me to think otherwise" Levi sarcastically replied as he glanced up towards the pair of thin, silky furred ears sitting on top of the younger women's head.

"This was done by Hanji" Mikasa confessed with a weak shrug, crossing her arms over her stomach and still feeling a little bitter over the Captain's messy work done to her. She didn't feel great over being an experiment rat. At least Eren got to play at being a titan during experiments with the crazy, titan loving captain. She got random chemicals thrown over her without any warning and poked at while unconscious.

"She actually designed something that wasn't aimed towards her titans. Is she sick?" Levi muttered back a bit surprised and feeling uneasy over Hanji placing her focus on something that wasn't titans for once. It was a clear sign she was getting sick or the world was ending.

"Moblit took her to the medical cabin to be seen by a doctor to check if she is falling Ill or not" Mikasa offered up some comfort over the fear over Hanji becoming sickly. Her new ears twitching a little, still irritated but also concerned.

"And in the meantime?" Levi asked with a raised eyebrow, leaning back in his office chair more and staring at the soldier before him. His tail left lazily laid across his own lap and his ears were tucked as always, almost hidden away in his hair.

"I'm stuck as a werecat. It's unclear if this is permanent or not. Commander Erwin has told me to wait it out for a couple weeks while Moblit forces Hanji to work on a cure or undo her work in the meantime in case the ears don't just vanish overnight" Mikasa explained with the details she was already told over and the actions to take over the whole incident.

"Where's your tail?" Levi curiously asked, tilting his head to the side and unconsciously making his ears twitch as he tool notice over no tail swaying behind the women or hanging between her legs. New-born werecat's tails were normally too heavy for them to use and someone not use to them wouldn't be able to fully control them or lift them either. Her tail should be as limp as a new-borns would be.

"I don't have one. It's just the ears. I'm not a naturally werecat but a forced one by chemicals" Mikasa awkwardly anwsered as she glanced to the side, her cheeks turning rosy as she confessed such a fact.

She knew Hanji didn't mean to spill her latest and insane potion over her when Mikasa stepped into the messy and unsorted office of Hanji's. Moblit was tripping over papers and books while Hanji was giving a mad laugh, dancing around and clumsily tripping over some scattered equipment left on the floor. Leaving Mikasa to have the new and untested as well as unknown position of mixed chemicals spilled over her. She was never going to pass on reports for her friends ever again, she didn't care if Hanji freaked them out, they can do this job themselves next time.

"If Moblit is dealing with four eyes and eyebrows know over the incident meaning he'd be the one stuck with the accident report. Why are you in my office bothering me?" Levi spoke up as he tapped a finger again his chin, his other hand resting on the armchair while he was lost in thought. Not understanding why the lady was currently in his office. He could have been told over the incident tomorrow at breakfast by Erwin or Mike themselves.

"T-The commander thought it was best to place me in your care until we gain better results over my current .. condition. My sense of smell and hearing has suddenly approved and I'm unsure over how to control these new ... skills" Mikasa quietly and rather shyly muttered out, shuffling on her feet and her ears perked up even more. Her whole body showing how frustrated  and embarrassed she was over the currently having less control over her own body.

"We'll deal with it during our joint morning jogs and sparing. Is there anything else?" Levi sighed as he pinched his nose, understanding why she was sent towards him but it could have still waited until morning.

"It seems that he wishes for me to work closer with you. Act as your.. helper until the camp is better use to my new state. He fears that other's might gain more interesting in me now they'll assume I'm a werecat" Mikasa replied with a small frown, finally looking at the captain with a focused stare once more and showing her clear dislike for being his little helper until her body returns to normal.

"We both know you can handle yourself perfectly well against anyone. Rank or not, you've fought with enough people or taught them "manners" over the years that I'd be surprised if you need to be babysat during a fight. If it was to babysit you to stop fights, than I'd have my hands full" Levi scoffed back with a eyeroll and knowing she could handle herself rather well. It's stopping her from stepping in or picking fights that caused the most problem half the time.

"It's not a request. He's ordered it. For both of us" Mikasa gritted out, her hands in fists as she passed on the orders sent with her that she didn't agree with as much as he didn't.

Mikasa soon retired to her squad's cabin and slipping into her shared room with Sasha. Struggling to sleep with all the new sounds and smells she was able to gain from her enhanced abelites. Most smells coming from the pile of hidden food that Sasha has stashed throughout their room for her to snack on or keep as back up if she ends up missing meal time due to chores or returning late after an expedition.

But morning soon came and Mikasa gained a couple of hours of sleep before waking up and preparing for her morning jog and single spar with her Captain. They never trained as hard as when she first stood as a newbie cadet. They've grown since those training days and merely do enough to stay fit and leave booked slots for all soldier's for any real training.

Each morning jog helped them to clear their minds or think over the little problems at hand instead of the big ones. No rank was held and they just steadily jogged a different route within the camp each morning. Stopping them from growing bored over running the same route each morning and well, stopping other soldiers, mostly newbies, abusing them on their early morning jog in hopes to impress them, talk with them or try and catch their eyes somehow.

Captain Levi stood waiting either, neither of them bath before a jog. Always leaving a wash after their morning jog and spar to help wash away all the sweat at once instead of having to force enough time for two washes within the day.

"We'll skip the spar and half our normal jogging distance today. Help you learn to get use to those ears and the smells of the camp" Levi explained once she was close enough to hear, his own ears perked up and seen as they always were during their morning work outs.

"I think the smell problem is the one we should mostly focus on" Mikasa grimaced as she wouldn't be able to carry on sharing a room or the same cabin building with all her friends if she doesn't work out how to block out smells soon.

Levi just nodded, an understanding glint to his eyes as he once felt the same after being moved into a new cabin once Furlan and Isabel had died. Soldiers could be as clean as expected but their living space held so many different and mix scents that it would choke anyone with enhanced smell.

Morning training went as well as they both could hope. Mikasa was a fast learner and worked hard in anything given to her. Levi knew the best ways to teach her and passed on as much information as he could. Knowing she'd have to do the rest by herself since it was her own body she had to learn to control now.

Both separating to return to their own cabins, to wash and dress in uniform. Heading towards the food hall with their own group of friends and eating breakfast separately as always. Mike standing in like an overprotective big brother whenever Mikasa grabbed a passing soldier's wrist and threatened to break it whenever someone tried "accidently" touching or feeling her ears to see if they were real.

Erwin shaking his head in disapproval over all the threats but stayed silent as Mike started standing like a body guard behind the other women, almost daring anyone to try and get into her personal bubble again.

Once breakfast was done Mikasa left with Levi, ready to be his little helper until a cure is found or the ears disappear by themselves. Leaving them both having to get use to dealing with the other and find a new form of truce in working together.

It wasn't until the fourth day passed that the pair was heading into one of Hanji's cleaner labs, mostly clean due to Moblit threatening to burn the cabin down with Levi's help if it wasn't kept clean enough for other's to feel comfortable and not grimace while standing inside.

"Mikasa, why didn't you tell us that you held werecat blood in you?! I had to learn it from Eren" Hanji cried out in mock hurt over not hearing such juicy gossip on the women.

"I didn't know you were keeping that a secret. Sorry" Eren awkwardly mumbled back with an guilty expression from where he was sat, just finishing his latest experiment with the female captain and resting for a couple of minutes.

"I didn't think it was important. I've added any medical problems or conditions that I knew ran in my family somewhere into my file. I thought that was enough" Mikasa sighed as she loosely crossed her arms over her stomach, not seeing the big deal. She rarely spoke over her dead parents.

"But you holding werecat blood within your veins might have been the reason you transformed. I could have active a werecat cell within you by mistake" Hanji huffed back as she pushed her glasses up, her hair a bird nest as always and her other hand was busy with shaking a test tube.

"I wasn't born a werecat. I didn't see any point in bringing up my parents backgrounds. I only knew over any medical conditions because they wrote it down. At least being smart enough to remember anything health risks while never speaking or wanting anything to do with their families. I don't know my family bloodline past my parents. They didn't speak about anyone else, it was a sore topic for them" Mikasa calmly explained as she slipped her arms to her sides, one hand resting on her hip as she didn't know much over her bloodline. She knew over medical issues thanks to her parents being smart enough to wrote down medical history they knew over.

"Do you think that her werecat genes could be the reason she grew ears? Is that even possible?" Levi asked, his lips pulled into a straight line and his expression serious as he tries to work out how this whole thing happened.

"It is possible. It's common for families with one werecat parent and a fully human parent to have sleeping genes within their children. Generations can be born as human without any single hint of a werecat cell until all of a sudden, one child will be born as a werecat. It's why it's important to know if you ever held a relative werecat so that it won't be a nasty shock if you suddenly have a werecat child. Same with sometime werecat's families will give birth to a full human without any warning. If the genes run in the family, it can skip a few generations and suddenly appear again" Moblit rambled out from where he was sat on a stool, stirring a different test tube while heating it over a small flame. Keeping his eyes glued to the experiment while allowing his mind to wonder around over the possibilities.

"My mother said her greatest blessing was giving birth to a human child. She didn't want the werecat bloodline to carry on. She was against having children for years and my father respected that. He didn't even learn about her being a werecat until the night before their wedding. She's always worn hats and kept her tail tucked in her skirt. Father was marrying her because he fell in love with the person she was, not her race. And he wasn't marrying her to start a family when he was happy with her being his family" Mikasa muttered back quietly, slumping in on herself a little and showing how uncomfortable she was over becoming a werecat when her mother never wanted her to be one.

"Why did she have you? No offence. Glad that she did since we've need the soldier worth a hundred men. You come in handy when facing titans" Hanji blurted out without a filter and wondering how Mikasa got to be if her parents never planned for children.

"She woke up one day and decided she wanted a child with my father. They've lived happily without any children of their own and Father proved he wasn't after her for just her body or an heir. Mother decided to take the risk, she wanted a child that would be a mixture of the pair of them. Knew father would love me no matter how I came out. She was just overjoyed at finding out I was born fully human and not a werecat" Mikasa anwsered with a small shrug as she never really asked her parents for the full details. She wasn't even told how babies were made yet, but she was told over the half truth over her mother never wanting her to be a werecat.

"What type of werecat was she?" Levi curiously asked, knowing there were different breeds and some were more rare than others.

"A rare breed. She was really beautiful and would be worth a lot of money on the shady side of business. She would have been treated like a queen with her own pack due to the rarity she was in her werecat breed. I always assumed she didn't want me to live with the same harassment or dangers that she did" Mikasa replied with a small frown, a fondness in her eyes as fading images of her parents flashed in her mind.

"I'm sorry" Levi whispered, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"I never really learnt over my parents families before they met each other. I can't be upset or angry over a past I don't know. I just know they weren't happy until they gained their own life on our farm. And that I can't be a werecat. My mother was so happy seeing me grow up as a normal human child. She'd be twisting in her grave if I'm stuck like this or worse, a half formed freak version. No offense" Mikasa sighed with a small frown, shaking her head lightly as she didn't really feel much over a family she never learnt about. What she did feel horrible over was that she was becoming a half werecat that her mother never wanted her to be.

"Not taken. You'd get a lot of attention if you carry on with only a pair of ears. Not good attention either. And if your mother was so glad you wouldn't be placed at risk like she was, it makes sense you're uncomfortable becoming something she never wanted you to be" Levi reassured with a small shrug, crossing his arms over his chest as he knew she didn't mean any harm and was just upset over disappointing her own mother. He also knew that she'd gain the wrong type of attention if she only held a half form of a werecat.

"Now that we know werecat blood flows through your genes we might be able to make a cure. Try and comatose your werecat cells so they're not active anymore" Moblit perked up with a hopeful tone, turning to look at the pair now that he took the tube to cool down on it's stand.

"How long would that take?" Levi asked with a raised eyebrow, glancing between his fellow captain and the other man.

"Hopefully not long" Hanji promises with a huge, crazy grin.
