Paradise Island held the Titan syringe, letting a chosen soldier or two be injected before giving them the powers of being a titan shifter. It had gone on for so many years that none knew who was the ordinal host and if they freely gave up their gift or had it stolen. 

This time, Levi Ackerman and Mikasa Ackerman was chosen to be the newest titan shifters. Using their power to held take down titans and protect their island and the walls. 

Well, chosen wasn't the right word. They were sacrifices because they held a better skill level and strength than all those around them. They had a choice to volunteer or be chained down and turned.

But at least if it was them, no one else would be forced to go through the hell until thirteen years had passed them both. Thirteen years they'll take the burden of being a titan shifter and get rid of as many titans as they could, trying to retake their land and make their home safe from all titan harm.

Both might have been seen as gods, soldiers who made the deal with the devil and sometimes, they feel like they did.

Thirteen years, the night they turned into shifters their count down began.

They had thirteen years to save their island and end the shifting line with themselves or someone else will be forced into the same fate as them.

Giving up their futures and their time, just to try and end the titan power with them.   

A secret promise, a hidden deal laying between the two chosen shifters who wished for the suffering to end with them like all those before them. But the only distance was, these two would keep their word and die with the shifting powers, never passing it on. 

No one else knew over their silent agreement, knowing they'll be the last if the titans were wiped out or not. 

Sure, many more might die without the shifter powers but it would only bring them more pain and war later in life if they relied on nothing but a shifter. 

Once, it gave them all hope but now, the shifter became nothing but a tool. 

They both had six years left, just six years before they finally sealed their fate together. 

Why they made good soldiers, greater shifters over the control they had. 

They were good at living a lie, hiding the truth from others and being different from those around them. 

They had always been different, more skilful, more powerful and just a freak compared to other children. Their parents loved them but than they lost that love as their parents were killed. Living a rough and harder life before making it as soldiers, one forced into the role of a soldier and the other just trying to protect the only friends they had.

Yet, as they both became shifters on the same night .. they became a team. A bond growing between them both and a love had formed. 

Secret of course since shifters weren't allowed emotions, no love or attachments that might change their loyalty to the crown. They could play friendly as long as they completed their orders but as soon as the placed another first, they would lose all around them. 

Be trapped inside a cell, no visitors and fed nothing special each day. Only allowed out to train and complete orders before locked up again. It would be a cruel way to live the last of your years and so, both behaved in the eye of their masters.

Their love staying between them and them alone.

Levi was out of his titan form first, pulled out from his titan nape as steam filled around him. The shifting markings under his eyes before he pushed himself to stand from Hanji who often yanked him out of Mikasa didn't first.

His eyes looking around, most of the titans he took care off wasn't already nothing but smoke or just gone leaving an empty space where they once laid. Using his odm gear before swinging down to the ground, Hanji following behind. A soldier always had to be close to a shifter, ready to yank them out as they deform or ready to kill them if they went wild or tried running for it. Hanji was his while Mikasa had Mike.

"Where's Mikasa?" Levi finally asked as he spotted his horse in the distance, standing beside the one that Hanji used.

"Somewhere in North west, a group got overran by Titans and she got sent to deal with them why you handled here" Hanji answered without much care, she was a titan lover and enjoyed the theory over a titan shifter. But even she knew of the huge gap between her and how shifters lived, even when they're both fighting as soldiers. She gave Levi a bit of freedom, a chance to live normal while they played the part of soldiers. 

"I'm heading over" Levi sighed, walking towards his horse and not ready to listen to any complains his guard might say.

"Mikasa is strong, she can handle herself" Hanji argued back like Levi was looking down on her.

"I know she is and I have complete faith in her, I know she can face a mini army of titans and walk away afterwards. But I'm all she's got, we're both trapped and it's a lonely path. One we both agreed to not walk alone, when we're not following separate orders, we agreed to travel beside one another" Levi answered, quickening his speed a little while Hanji followed along behind.

"You know, it doesn't have to be lonely, you two have each other but you gave friends as well. Armin and Eren won't just forget that Mikasa no longer exists and I won't forget you either, you may have lost Farlan and Isabel but I'm still standing" Hanji promised with an honest smile while Levi rolled his eyes.

"And any day the higher ups can remove ever single one of you from us for getting to close. Once other's notice we're more Human than Titan, we'll be locked away and treated like nothing but weapons. It's just me and Mikasa, no matter how much you see it" Levi snapped back, reaching his horse and climbing on.

"Six years left, time fly pass when your against it. Once five years hit, you'll be over used .. this might be your only year to rest. Your in power, most would snap by now or show to be a complete loyal dog to their master. What will you waste the year on?" Hanji asked, climbing on her horse and starting to ride off with Levi.

"We're always been loyal to the one that holds our heart" Levi answered without a second thought, Hanji glancing to him before smiling. 

"Did you know, a titan shifter can have a child. A female shifter can even carry on shifter during the early months of pregnancy. It's only in the last three months the unborn child would be in danger" Hanji mumbled out the old hidden fact from the ordinal notes over titan shifters. She's done her own digging, in secret and well, some say he's been know to say insane thoughts out loud. 

Levi stayed silent, riding faster towards the direction his love should be, keeping his thoughts clear as he just searched for her and her alone. Hanji words no longer hitting him as she rambled away about something. His eyes scanned every single soldier they passed before his eyes landed on a titan in the distance.

A small but true smile on his lips as he started riding quicker towards the titan, watching as it fell to its knees, streaming releasing from its body showing Mikasa was ready to deform and started to already. 

Standing on his horse before using his odm gear to hook to her shoulders before pulling himself to her. Landing in her titan hair as the head dropped forward before he slid down, helping to pull her free from the nap and nerves still attached.

Pulling her closer, his hands on her upper arms as she through her head back once the nerves snapped free. A shaky breath leaving her lips before she slowly started to open her eyes, a little daze still and the titan markings stained under her eyes.

"Take it easy, we don't have to rush away" Levi soothingly spoke, letting her back lean into his chest as he stayed kneeled behind her.

"We'll be retreating" Mikasa muttered, resting her head to his shoulder as she calmed her beating heart, feeling his arms wrap around her with care.

"I think Hanji knows" Levi finally admitted, his hands on her mostly flat stomach as he enjoyed the few close moments he could have with her while the steaming titan body gave them cover from anyone eyes.

"She doesn't, she just want us to live freely before our time is up. She's spoken to me after returning me to my room in the base when Mike took you to yours earlier. She wants us to find someone to love, to be with and make lasting memories with them. She doesn't expect us to be a couple because we already know the hard truth" Mikasa answered softly, sliding her hands over his and lacing their fingers a little.

"We'll have to tell one of them soon or at least later, they'll take notice" Levi sighed, resting his head on top of hers.

"And we will but if we speak too soon you know what our fate would be, the fate of our child. I'm not allowed to give a child once I became a shifter, that right was taken from me because they couldn't waste time on letting me have one. If we speak too soon and another learns, they'll only kill them within me" Mikasa reminded, a frown on her lips as she thought over their unborn child within her. A male shifter could give a child but he'll lose all links to the child once it was born and the child would never be allowed to become a shifter in the future. But for female shifters, they were forbidden to have a child due to having to have so many months off to give birth and rest afterwards. It was wasted time in the higher ups eyes and so, any child was killed within the shifter before it was too late.

"I know and I won't allow that fate to happen, we'll protect our child even if we'll have to set them free to be loved by another couple. We'll care for our child from a distance and never let them fall in out masters hands" Levi promised, his hold tighten slightly to comfort his love before he placed a kiss in her hair.

"The steam almost gone, we better return" Mikasa spoke, glancing around at the almost fully faded titan body she was once inside before pushing herself to stand.

Levi nodding in silence, taking her offered hand as she helped him to stand. Pulling him closer and joining their lips for a sweet kiss before using her odm gear and flying back to a close by roof. Levi following behind and landing beside her, noticing Hanji and Mike waving them by the horses.

Both turning as a flair went up in the distance, retreat was being called.

"Told you" Mikasa smirked slightly before hopping down from the roof as Levi chuckled.  

Six Months Later..

"She's beautiful" Mikasa whispered with a fond smile, looking to her new-born daughter in her arms.

"She's perfect" Levi smiled warmly, sitting beside his love and stroking his new-born daughter cheek. 

"We can't name her" Mikasa reminded with a sadden smile, she would love to call her daughter as her own but to protect her they had to destroy ties to her. No names, no links and no time to make a lasting memory. They only had a few moments to meet her as her true parents before letting her be taken away, hidden away to a couple that will cherish her as their own and never speak over her being another pair daughter. 

"I know, let's just cherish the moment we do have with her. This is our child, our whole future and the one who proves we were alive. Time she's old enough to even learn over a shifter, our time would have long ran out" Levi whispered, keeping his arm around his love and keeping her close as he burned the image of the one he loves and his daughter together into his mind. 

"Our love will always reach her, she may never know of us and only learn her names from history but our love will forever flow through her veins. We at least know that much" Mikasa admitted with a soft smile, holding her daughter small hand in her own, knowing one day such little hands will grow big as she becomes her own person. 

"We'll make sure she only learns us from history books, we'll bring our wish true and end it all with us. We can't let her be brought up with false hope, let her be at risk of watching a friend or another suffer like we must. We'll save her from that pain at least" Levi promised in a whisper, kissing his love cheek and knowing Armin would be arriving soon to help hide away their daughter, to keep her safe to a couple that went as far to pretend the wife has been pregnant all this time, using stuffing to make a baby lump. Their daughter would be safe, hidden from such a cruel fate her parents had to live. 

"I love you, no matter what you're our future" Mikasa whispered with a sweet smile, leaning down and kissed their daughter, their first and last mother and daughter kiss. 

"You learn to take care of yourself and never fear who you may be because your our daughter and you'll be the proudest thing alive to us" Levi smiled gently to his daughter, taking her from his love arms and placing his first and last fatherly kiss to her. 

Both parents turning as the doors opened showing Armin, wearing simple town clothes and a hat to hide his face. He was ready to ride out and hide their daughter away, to make sure she'll be forever safe and keep an eye over her in secret for the two. 

"We must hurry, MP's arrived to the camp. Hanji is keeping them distracted as long as she can but they're stubborn to reach you both. Someone else must have learnt over this, told the higher ups and now they've came to take the child. I'm sorry but say your goodbyes, It be a quick escape now" Armin warned as he rushed inside, closing the door behind him and walking towards Levi who nodded in understanding.

"Don't let her fall to their hands, Armin. Please" Mikasa begged slightly, looking to her childhood friend who's eyes landing on their daughter.

"I'll be a rather shitty uncle if I did, just look at this gorgeous little one. We're gonna make sure you have the best life, right?" Armin smiled brightly, proud eyes as he took the baby from Levi arms and held her close.

"Thank you" Levi spoke, placing a hand on Armin shoulder and Armin just smiled.

"Thank me after you protect her future" Armin replied before sneaking out knowing they couldn't waste any more time if they wanted to get the baby away safely.

"Thirteen years we were given, five is left. How cruel time can be" Mikasa admitted as she leaned back, resting as much as she could before soldiers rushed inside.

"Thirteen years and I'm glad I got to spend them beside you" Levi smiled fondly, turning to the one he loves and taking her hand in his before kissing the back of it.
