"Eren, don't mess around otherwise you might get us in trouble and we're already lucky enough not to be killed by them" Armin frowned, fear and worry in his eyes as he looked to his childhood friend. 

"Oh come on Armin, we were born as gifted for a reason and It be a waste if we don't use our powers for fun now and than. Anyway, if they were going to kill us, they would have done it as soon as they saw us" Eren argued back as he was playing with a tiny fire ball he created, it was no bigger than a marble and he just kept rolling it between his fingers.

"I'm with Armin on this, I don't trust them. They're hunters, all they've ever done is hunt our kind down. We didn't chose to be born as gifted yet they just slaughter us for being different. Why would they suddenly take us in and protect us from the world, they were the one's we needed protection from" Mikasa hissed, glaring towards some of the hunters in the distance that was keeping an eye on them why they stood around the small farm area. 

"Maybe they've changed, sure the gifted have always been hunted down by hunters under the name of Survey Corps but times have changed. People might have grown to like the gifted, we do end up saving normal humans before being chased away and hunted down. Maybe they've finally accepted us and want's us to live a normal life" Eren replied without much care as he threw his fire ball up in the air before catching it again and doing the same action over and over.

"If Eren even a little right and a law states for us to not be hunted anymore. Why would the Survey Corps be  the ones  to take us, look around Eren. We're hidden away in the woods, this clear area has farming area and those cabins close by to live in. This is a farming prisoner if we like it or not, why make us prisoners instead of killing us?" Armin mumbled as he rubbed his arm a little, feeling uneasy over the whole thing. All three of them have faced hunters in the past and they've always tried killing them without a second thought. But now, all of a sudden they made them prisoners. 

"Let's find out why" Mikasa commented as she noticed the soldiers walking towards them with another two soldiers that seemed in charge more. 

"Eren put the flame out, we don't want them to be spooked" Armin sighed as he turned to his friend who was now kicking his flame ball into the air like a football. 

"But we're clearly more powerful, why should we play alon-HEY!" Eren started to say with an excited grin before yelping as Armin dropped a bubble of water over him.

"Thanks to Armin now you can cool down a little" Mikasa sighed as she placed a hand on her hip, Armin looking rather pleased over soaking Eren with his power while Eren sulked.

"We've been given a fire gifted, a water gifted and what are you .. team mum gifted" The male of the two in charge spoke, lifting an unamused eyebrow towards Mikasa who glared at him. He was on the short side but his body clearly held some muscle. Piercing gray eyes and jet black hair, styled in an undercut. His skin as white as snow and his face of stone.

"Now, play nice Levi we're all going to be on the same team. It's nice to finally meet you three, I'm Hanji and this is my shorty of a friend Levi. Yes, we work under the survey corps but we'll be working on a new project. One that proves gifted can live a normal life without harming simple human beings. We've been given a single year to prove to everyone that the gifted and humans can live side by side without any fear being born. We're not the only one chosen's for this project but the rest should arrive tomorrow" Hanji spoke with a friendly smile, holding her hands together as she looked to the three before her. 

"Project to see if the human race and Gifted can live as one. Why would they suddenly want to prove such a point when you hunters have almost wiped us all out?" Armin shot back, staring at Hanji for a sign she was joking or bluffing over it. 

"You don't have a choice in this matter. You either help us prove we can work together and live in peace or we'll kill you before going back to killing your own kind" Levi sighed, crossing his arms over his chest and looking over to Mikasa. 

He couldn't help but take in the tall women beauty even if she kept an almost emotionless face, only showing her anger and hate towards them. Her creamy skin contrasted with her striking red scarf, a scarf she's took more care in looking after than herself by the look of it. Beautiful, dark locks and dark eyes that cut like knives. An old scar under her left eye and her body told him she could fight up close without the need of her power.

"We just want answers, you can't expect us to just live as prisoners by the ones who's only duty has to been killing us. Even the god damn children was killed for being born as gifted, the whole human race should be choking on all the blood you've brought and yet now you want us to play friendly. We can't trust you and we'll never forgive you, killing a normal human in murder, killing a new-born baby is cruel but if they're labelled as gifted it's cheered over. How the hell can we just treat you like friends" Mikasa snarled back, glaring towards the group making the two hunters behind step back in fear while Hanji lowered her head in shame. Levi just stared at her, not sure what to say since she spoke nothing of the truth.

"We'll help, if we prove that us gifted isn't monsters than you'll stop hunting us .. right? We'll be able to finally live a normal life, no more of us would be killed as soon as we're seen. No more running just to live another painful day. It will give us our freedom .. right?" Eren replied hopeful and a little desperate to finally not have to run anymore. 

"Yes, if we prove this point of both normal human beings and gifted can work together in life without any real life threatening problems. Than all Gifted will be given freedom" Hanji answered with a weak smile, her eyes honest as she looked to them. 

"Give us a pinkie promise" Armin spoke up again, holding his pinkie out while Hanji just blinked to him.

"You do that?" Hanji replied shocked.

"No one breaks a pinkie promise unless they're truly evil" Armin answered innocently, Mikasa just ruffling his hair as he was too pure for this life.

"Than I'll do it, I promise you'll be free as long as we pass this project test" Hanji promised with a friendly smile and wrapped her pinkie with Armin before they squeezed them together to seal the promise. 

"And you, I want your word" Mikasa spoke as she looked Levi dead in the eyes. Hanji seemed too good for her own good why Levi knew the facts and knew what to expect in life. He would know if they would be accepted or not after the year, he'll have a gut feeling over it being a trap. 

"The man I serve under now will make you free as long as you past, that's all the word I can give because no one can control fate or events in life. But while that man stays as our leader, I can give you my word" Levi answered honestly, placing a hand over his heart why Mikasa nodded, accepting his reply. 

"Well, I'm happy with them not planning to brutally murder us once we lower our guard. But you'll still keep your eye out .. right Mikasa?" Armin smiled sweetly as he turned to Mikasa, grabbing her hand and holding it like they were children all over again.

"I'll keep watch" Mikasa answered making Armin give a happy nod.

"You know, I can always use my gut feelings too, you know?" Eren spoke up with a frown, looking to his two friends who both raised an unbelieving eyebrow.

"Like that gut feeling over the berries not being poisonous and turned out they were like Armin said they were" Mikasa reminded as she looked to Eren who froze a little.

"Or the time you decided that bees won't sting a gifted who'll put their hand in the beehive"  Armin reminded, waving his free hand a little as both him and Eren had stings for weeks.

"Or-" Mikasa started to say before being stopped by an embarrassed Eren.

"All right! I get it, Mikasa can be the guard out of us" Eren yelled out, hiding his face in his hands and had steam coming out from his ears. 

Armin just grinned in victory while Mikasa stood content, reaching her hand out and patting Eren head to try and comfort him. Eren just groaned in response, remembering just how much his friends never help back their punches. 

"You three seem close"  Hanji commented as she watched their little moment, Levi silently watching them beside her as well.

"Well, me and Armin are childhood friends since forever. Than we took in Mikasa and when we were ten we all started going on the run together from  the hunters. I wasn't the most behaved child and well, I didn't understand the dangerous my mom tried warning me over. But year, we've been a family since the start" Eren smiled happily, fondness in his eyes as he told over his new family.

"You went on the run at just age ten .. but most don't start running from hunters until they twelve or up. The parents normally try and hide the gifted children until that point why there power is still scentless" Hanji replied in horror.

"My parents tried killing me once I was born as a gifted, they held me over to hunters but because they were my parents. They got killed as traitors to human kind, Grandpa kidnap me once he learnt that my parents had called hunters over me. He took me and ran, his wife was born from gifted parents but she was born mere human. It's how I hold gifted blood in me and that's why I might have been born as one. Grandpa met Carla, Eren mum and well since Eren was born gifted they became friends and that made me and Eren friends. Eren dad, he was a doctor for both humans the gifted. We got to live a normal life since no one questions a doctor for the humans, thinking they would never treat a gifted or help one" Armin explained with a weak smile, his grip on Mikasa hand tighten as he shook a little over the past memories flashing back into his mind.

"I was a stupid brat, always messing around with my powers as a child since I thought they were cool. Mum always covered for me, saying she was clumsy when cooking or using candles and the lie worked. She played her part well, even started smoking and using matches to hide up my powers in public by blaming the matches instead. But a hunter came, than a group and they killed mom. They called her the gifted and executed her. Armin Grandpa took us into hiding but they found us and killed him, they were going to kill us but we fought back and ran away. We've been running since" Eren spoke, his voice weak and filled with guilt as he blamed himself for his mother death.

"I think that's enough for now, why don't you show us where we'll be sleeping" Mikasa broke the quick silence before anymore was said.

"Well, you three should meet the mains soldiers that will be working with you as much as Me and they'll be your watchdogs if someone important comes to visit. Meet Jean and Marco, they'll lead you to your rooms" Levi replied and stepped back showing the two unsure hunters behind him.
