Armin looks around to the new recruits joining the Survey regiment. 

Taking in the fact that it seemed more numbers have joined than the rare couple they normally gain after each passing training corps class. The most they'll get ten out of the hundred to two hundred class.

Today, Armin counted a whole thirty newly passed solders all lined up and awaiting their welcoming speech and being passed their new uniforms. To start their week trial and either place their names down in the regiment and serve under the regiment until retirement, injury or death or move to a different regiment due to not being cut out to stay. 

Armin was always a hopeful and positive being, he hoped that everyone who stood lined up would survive within the survey regiment and find happiness in fighting towards their freedom from the walls. That they'd all happily sign up after the week trial had ended and still be as prepared for their new futures as they stood right now. 

Jean and Eren on the other hand had already silently guessed who'd be leaving by the end of the week trial and how little of a number they'd be left with. Picking out who'd most likely stay only to die during their first expedition or quit due to their fear as their dreams over the survey regiment comes crashing down with the cruel reality over their lives as soldiers here. 

Mikasa merely glanced at the soldiers, leaving their hearts, soul and fate to decide their future. She'll learn their names once they survive past their first expedition and decide to stay afterwards. She'd save their lives if she finds them in danger outside of those walls and discipline that cross her path for the wrong reasons. 

She'd only been here due to three soldiers having their first chance at settling new recruits into the camp and making sure they had everything they'd need to be given on their first day. To check they speak the correct speeches and pass on the correct information. 

The only soldier she had any faith in right now was a soldier who wasn't even meant to be with the three chosen for this group of recruitments but acted as a babysitter to their titan lover. Poor Moblit was going to age like an old man before he ever reaches retirement due to being dragged along by the older soldier, Hanji. Erwin was too full of himself and Mike was a selective mute who just sniffed anyone. Moblit was the only decent person in their group current and Mikasa was here to make sure he wasn't attacked by the new recruits due to the other three messing up. 

"Captain, he's the one rumoured to be like you, is he not?" Erwin 

Eren, Armin and Jean all frowned as they glanced over Erwin. Taking him in even though he's been under their care since he joined three years ago, clearly stating he was expecting to stand as the new commander before he hits thirty. Claiming that Hanji and Mike would stand as his loyal captains and the three of them would stand as much better command for the Survey Regiment. 

"He watched his parents be brutally murdered before his eyes and was kidnapped by said murderers to be sold to the highest bidder. Helped by a boy and then killed said murderers with the boy's help. Taken into a new home and gain two new friends in his life. Watching the male figure of her life walk out of their lives before the mother grew to be sick and left her son orphan as she was once again. Two moving in with the third friend and raised by the second friend's grandfather. Grew up protecting those two with their life and decided to create their own regiment due to deciding that if we're going to die, we're going to die fighting for our freedom not cornered like some rats in the sewers" Mikasa

"Don't forget that we were left on the streets to starve once Grandfather died. That was were targeted for seeming weaker. That we dealt with some still trying to buy our big sister. That captains looked the other way whenever someone tried stealing her away in the middle of the night and sometimes even in the middle of the day" Eren

"That we fought with everything we had to get the Survey Regiment accepted. That we were the first to see an actual titan in a hundred years or so. That we are the cause of sending all those poor souls to an early grave as they fought for a future beyond the walls" Armin

"That every soldier who first stood on this camp was joint by pure loyalty, knowing that we were all dying to fly free from our shitty inside these god for shaken rules. That no one stood better than the other here, all our lives were held by our skill and a sick joking fate. Just for a few years to past and we get little pricks like you join up, assuming you know best. You're only standing here now, so easily, because those three carved the path for you. So, learn respect or I'd happily demote you back to recruits training" Jean

A tense silence filled the air as all eyes turned to the younger group of four who understood they overstepped the line yet again before their higher ranking officers. The new recruits losing resepct for those that were meant to be welcoming them and showing them the ropes when they're clearly in the dog house with the famous commander and his well known three captains. 

"Why did you have to upset them again? We're meant to be comrades" Moblit whimpered to his older friends, never happy whenever Erwin upsets some of the older soldiers to the camp. 

"And more importantly, Smith, you didn't even introduce us to the cadet you're trying to gossip over. It's rude to whisper over someone in front of them and it's very confusing for the rest of us if we don't know who you're whispering over" Armin perks up with an overly friendly smile, one that didn't reach his eyes, as he stares towards the soldier who had been causing trouble since he arrived. 

Erwin, Hanji, Mike and Moblit silently shared a look among their small group before coming to an stop over their silent conversations. Clearly deciding on something or at least agreeing enough for one of them to speak up. 

"Levi Ackerman, Sir" Hanji called out the soldier who her friend had spoken over before, Mike nodding towards the cadets that belonged to the name.  

Mikasa merely glanced towards the recruit being hinted at before simply walking over to him and deciding if they're as alike as the others will keep hinting out. Giving the younger recruit a break by making the whole serious mood a joke and stop anymore wasteful gossip going around on his first day. 

"Well? Are we the same or are you actually well liked by the people?" Mikasa

"I've gained respect in the underground. Never knew my father and my mother died while I was young. Forced to survive in the underground from a young age, might have killed a few people but I've gained loyal friends. And I think I could pull of wearing a dress better than you" Levi

"I'm sure you would. You've got a pretty enough face to pull the look off. Heck, If I was a pig like those with money in these walls, I might have even bought you for a night before letting you escape for your freedom" Mikasa

"You couldn't afford me" Levi shot back with a sly smirk, returning his gaze to look at a set point of nothingness ahead of him. 

Mikasa just smirked at him, amusement  in her eyes before she gave a respectful nod towards him before walking off to her Commander. Having heard enough and knowing that the Levi guy was going to fit in just fine without her needing to look out for him. Clearly he'll be able to hold his own.

"Mikasa" Armin softly says as he hooks his arm with his favourite big sister, letting her escort him back to his office as always. 

"Hmm?" Mikasa hums back, hinting for him to say whatever he wanted to say without worry. 

"Please don't destroy the camp while dealing with him. We don't have the funds to rebuild right now" Armin begs with his best puppy dog eyes as he knew th

"Enjoy babysitting, horseface" Eren called out with a shit eating grin, flipping Jean the middle finger as he walks away with his childhood friends. 

"Try not to be a suicidal bastard, Mikasa deserves a break from babying you all day" Jean shot back with his own teasing grin, sending Eren the bird over his shoulder. 

"Oh man, I miss Sasha and Connie. They were always sneaking in stolen meat for us all to enjoy around a fire" Eren

"Stop bringing up the laws our friends broke. They might all be dead but we can still be arrested for half the things we got involved with" Armin

"No one would dare to arrest any of you. They know I'd deal with personally if they do" Mikasa

"Mikasa, you can't keep threatening to assault people who might bring us harm. That's a crime too" Armin 

"Only if I leave them able to talk to report me" Mikasa

"I miss Ymir tricking Reiner into requesting a sparing match with Mikasa and being sent to his arse each time. Christa always scolding her afterwards why Marco took him to the medical tent. Remember when we lived in tents.. we could only afford to have one set of uniform each back then" Eren

"Mini Mikasa, do you have a mini genius within your friend's circle and an idiot you'd most likely die without the other two members of your friendship group?" Jean asked as he turned towards Levi and trying to see if this Ackerman came with it's complete trio too. 

"Furlan is the blonde one and Isabel is the green eyed one" Levi sighed as he nodded to each of his friends, starting to grow with dread over his similar they were all seeming. 

"God pretty much just coped the trio. Where's your classmate you looks like an animal and held a crush on the strong but beautiful badass?" 

"Nothing like that, sir" Furlan awkwardly replied. 

"Oh god, my copy better not be one of your annoying shits" Jean grumbled out as he turned back towards Hanji, Erwin and Mike. Not minding Moblit so much, he was a good lad.
