"We've got a very long way to go" Levi groaned out as he ran a hand down his face before returning to the marital arts sticks and throwing them out to the group.

Jean about to catch one only for Eren to catch his stick instead, still angry towards him and not overly happy over him climbing higher than him either. Mikasa and Armin frowned at him, not expecting their brother to be foolish enough to pick another fight in front of their captain but he did. He soon whacked the back of Jean knees with his stick, tripping him over before casually dropping the stick like he did nothing wrong.

Mikasa glanced down the line, noticing Mikasa quickly laying on the ground beside Jean and acting if the two had simply knocked into each other while grabbing their own sticks. Armin and Marco stepping in and helping the two to stand while Reiner smacked the back of Eren head. Soon everyone held their stick in hand and ready to learn. 

Levi simply raised an eyebrow towards the small group who all kept straight and neutral expressions. Standing ready to learn and he gave a light shrug, surprise no one was ready to grass each other. Levi wasn't a fool, he knew the pair hadn't simply knocked into each other, not by how their sticks were placed. But if they were sorting it out themselves, less paperwork for him. 

Let's get down to business

To defeat the Huns

Levi started to sing, lifting two pots into the air as he held his own stick and smashed them with a simple strike each earning aww from the rest. The rest all getting into the basic fighting stage themselves, giving a fighting roar back as Levi nodded in approval over their stances.

Levi sang next just as Jean placed a bug down the back of Eren top for revenge. Making Sasha glad she and the Connie snuck out to watch form the hill close by. Neither of them were good with bugs or for the cringe worthy show about to happen.

Mister, I'll make a man out of you

Eren was soon screaming as he wiggled about trying to get it out and knocking all the other's around him in the progress. Even hitting Jean straight in the nose and knocking him down like he's done with everyone else. 

Mikasa yanking Armin down with her, dodging Eren attack and keeping her shorter friend protected from any hits. Kicking at Eren feet and tripping him up before spinning on the spot and catching him in her arms before he even hit the ground. She gave a quick apologize before placing her hand in the back of his top and pulled the bug out in one motion. 

Levi soon grabbing Eren stick, a disapproving look on his face as he held it and glared down to him while singing the last bit.

Sasha and Connie covering their eyes, wincing at the whole scene and both being glad they were far away from it all. 

Erwin happily marking the incident down, gladly to report all and any trouble that Levi will be facing in hopes to mark the new captain down when they meet with the general again. 

Tranquil as a forest

But on fire within

Levi started to sing as he shot three arrows while launching three tomato's in the air at the same time. Shooting all three tomato's perfectly and having the arrows land in the marked out targets in the tree.

Walking down the line as the rest tried having a guy, all mostly failing. Noticing Marco being able to shoot one of the tomato's in the air and hitting the tree target together. Reiner, Eren and Jean all struggling with aiming the arrows and shooting while launching the tomato's at the same time. 

Armin struggling with pulling the string back and having Mikasa stepped in to straighten his stance, not noticing Levi walking about.

But Levi didn't mind fellow comrades helping each other, they needed the trust and teamwork after all. He just didn't enjoy it when he came to a stop by Mikasa and founding her telling the blonde boy to picture their captain and Erwin faces on said tomato's they had to shoot. Armin chuckling before shooting his arrow, he didn't hit any of the tomatoes but he did hit the drawn out target in the tree, well, one out of the three of them. 

Mikasa picking up her own bow, using all three arrows and shooting them as she launched the tomato's up. Her stance was almost perfect and she ended up only hitting two of the three tomato's. 

Levi stepping forward, his arms slipping round her frame and correcting her stance before helping her to shoot perfect this time. Whispering a slight warning to mind her tongue when she pictures certain faces on her targets. Mikasa giving a startled sound before glaring as Levi happily strolled away to check on the rest of the men. 

Connie pulling Sasha back as she popped out of Mikasa top and shook her fist towards the captain ready to fight him. Leaving Armin to snicker behind as Mikasa finally met her own match.

Levi carried in singing as he stood with one of the sticks in his hand and a bucket of water perfectly balanced on his head. Waving at the men to throw stones towards him before getting back into a peaceful and balanced stance.

The men needing no words from their Captain who's made them suffer enough today and all very much enjoyed throwing the stones at him. Frowning as he dodged every single one and used the stick to defend himself against each one as well. 

Well, until Mikasa took her go and threw her stone one the captain seemed distracted and almost catching him off guard. He smacked it last second, spilling a single drop of water from his pocket and the rest of the men ducked from the uncontrolled stone heading their way. All grimacing as it ended up smacking Erwin. 

You're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot

Levi sang as he watched Armin stand where he once did, ready to try the excises himself. Moving his neck to keep the bucket of water balance and his grip tightening on the stick as he noticed how everyone but her Mikasa and Marco seeming excited to throw another round of stones again. 

He soon lost his footing earning the bucket to fall over his head and drench himself as the stones stayed being sent his way while he blindly wacked the stick about like a baseball bat. Hitting the very last one and sending it flying straight towards Eren who wasn't paying attention and got hit in the forehead. 

Jean and Eren goes didn't end well as everyone took aim harshly and got their own revenge for all the trouble the pair kept causing the group. Even Mikasa vented some of her own irritation out when it became their goes. 

Mikasa stood next and did much better than most of the rest but Levi wasn't going to let her off easy. He threw his own at her bucket, knocking her balance off and earned her to becomes drenched by the water. She sent a glare towards him before smacking with everything she had as Armin lamely threw his own stone. It soon headed straight towards Levi who quickly dodged it without thinking and watched as it hit Reiner stomach instead.

Mikasa lifting her gaze only to find Levi glaring at her once more. 

Somehow I'll make a man out of you

Levi sang as he caught a fish with his bare hands from the river, Marco and Armin sharing a worried look after watching him. Knowing they'd have to try it next.

Armin giving a determine nod before swiping his hand into the water as Marco did the same. He quickly grabbed something and yanked it out before looking at the foot in his hand in pure confusion. Glancing to his new friend before turning pale as he found him trapped under the water and showing that it was his foot he held.

Levi didn't even bother to send a glare towards them as he watched Mikasa and Reiner step in to help the two out of the water instead. Armin giving the most apologetic look he could give towards Marco. Marco reply was spitting the water that was in his mouth in his face and Armin gave him that one. 

Mikasa, Jean and Eren went next. The two males splashing each other and started a water fight while Mikasa struggled catching a fish with the pair of them spooking all the fish away. Shoving at the two as she finally got annoyed and pushed them into the water before climbing out to stand with the rest. Accepting her defeat and Levi didn't bother to comment over it. 

I'm never gonna catch my breath!

Eren mostly cried out instead of singing as he ran across the filed will fire arrows shooting towards them for practice. The smoky air blinding them from being able to see much.

Say goodbye to those who knew me!

Jean sang next, dodging most of the fire arrows before tripping as he didn't see the stone half dug in the ground. Yelping as an fire arrow caught his butt and he was grateful for the extra padding giving to him before he was forced to run across the field.

Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym?

Marco sang as he did his movements before slamming his hand into a stone block. Completely knocking himself without mercy instead of breaking the stone block.

This guy got 'em scared to death!

Armin sang in panic as he watched his sister take a hard punch by Levi as they had one to one in hand combat against their captain. It being Mikasa go and she now sat with her back to a tree with a forming black eye while Sasha quickly placed a wet rag to it. She held her own for a good amount of time before Levi decided to not hold back as much anymore. 

Hope he doesn't see right through me!

Mikasa sang quietly to herself, glancing as Connie tried fanning her with a simple leaf before she pushed herself back up. Ready for round two of Levi kicking her butt. She's never had someone push her this much in a fight and she absolutely loving it. 

She gained a respectful nod from her captain over pushing herself back up and heading straight towards him instead of chickening out like everyone else already did. 

Now I really wish that I knew how to swim!

Sasha cried from inside Mikasa top as they watched Reiner lose his balance on the pillars across the river ahead. Watching the others crash into each other and some fall into the water thanks to Reiner stumbling back onto a pillar he already used.

Levi sang with his men backing him up as the evening finally came and all of them were stuck with canon practice. No one hitting the target yet and Armin started to calculate the distance and the aiming. Moving his canon a little until he had it perfect in his own eyes, the rest all watching in pure confusion while Mikasa and Eren sat a little smug as they both knew what their friend could achieve. 

But the good mood faded as one of the other's walking past to join those who already fired their canons kicked the stand for Armin cannon. Jean holding Eren back as he went to go punch the guy for it. Armin panicking as he already was lighting the fuse with his stones and quickly grabbed at the cannon, holding it up without thinking as it fired and left his face completely covered in gun smoke.

All shakily turning their heads as the canon landed in camp, right on Erwin tent and Levi winced as he knew that would be added to his report too. But he couldn't give a full glare to Armin for that one and just walked away.

Levi was left sitting on top of the hill and watching the rest of the men wobble back to the tents, sore and tired and ready to sleep forever. Or until the wake up bell where they'd be forced to get up and train all over again.

Well, all but two. He watched from a distance as Mikasa helped Armin practice some of the combat moves. Training with her in secret as the rest was already in their tents and sleeping. 

Time is racing toward us

Morning came and Levi had all the men carrying two buckets of water up the tallest hill. A stick holding the handle of each bucket as they held it across their shoulder blades why they walked.

Levi sang a little hopeful, seeing all his men mostly keeping up in pace with him before frowning as Erwin cleared his voice and pointed to the last corner they turned. Armin was stumbling round it before tripping over his own feet and falling over. He held the stick up with his arms, stopping most of the water from spilling. 

Time Levi started to turn back, knowing that Armin was gonna gain them all a bad reputation at this point. But time he lifted his head, ready to gaze at the fallen lad,  he was met with Mikasa already grabbing at Armin stick, carrying her own and his. Nodding for her friend to stand and he did before they got jogging again. 

Both were met with Levi disappointed stare before he went back to jogging in front of everyone and keeping the pace steady.  Leaving Armin to lower his head in shame as he knew he was falling behind. Mikasa gave him a nudge light, giving an encouraging nod and keeping him jogging in pace with her. They were both going to past training and face the upcoming battle together. They were a team in this and she couldn't allow him to forget that.

Levi sang as it was night once more, walking towards Armin who was heading out to meet up with Mikasa for extra training.  Eren already back to their shared tent as he finished his bit of training first and went to rest. Knowing he wasn't allowed to help his friend even if he offered to go back for him.

Armin tensing as Levi came walking towards him, holding Hannes reigns and shoving at him, sending him home as he shook his head in disapproval knowing he was a lost cause for them both. He'd pay Mikasa for her horse later, not knowing the two came from the same family. 

Armin only lowered his head, feeling Hannes nudge his  arm while Levi walked away without another word for now. Stopping as Mikasa came storming towards him, a murderous look in her eyes before purposely shoving her shoulder into the captain as she passed him.

Levi glanced back, frowning as he could feel the seething rage from the women and felt guilt ping in his heart on giving up on the body after seeing him work so hard to pass. He soon carried back to his tent, lowering his head in default. 

But as Armin opened his eyes and showing the tears forming, Mikasa pulled him into a hug and earned him dropping Hannes reigns. Whispering comforting words while Sasha and Connie jumped onto Hannes saddle and headed back to her tent.

Mikasa grabbing he friend, her brother's hand and started to lead him away for them to carry on with their planned extra practice. But that's when Armin lifted his tear stained face and looked towards the wooden post in the centre of camp and he was soon struck with an idea and a stubborn look took over his eyes. Pulling on Mikasa arm from where their hands was linked and excitedly passing on his new plan.

Mikasa easily stealing the gold weights that represents discipline and strength. Looking them over before glancing towards Armin who held a new determination to his eyes. He stood ready to prove himself and the pair got to work with his plan.

Spending all the night and sunrise as Mikasa started to climb the post, not even looking down once and just focusing on the arrow. Rope slung across her shoulders as she climbed, ready to pull her friend up since he didn't have the upper strength to try his plan while she did. 

Eren waking up first as Hannes nudged him when Mikasa had never returned after hours had passed. Eren blinking for a few minutes before finding his friend half of the tent cold and rushing to get dressed before hurrying to the camp. Wondering if he had passed out somewhere or one of the guys decided to mess with him while he was alone. Hannes wondered back to Mikasa single tent on the outer ring of the camp. 

Instead, Eren came to a sudden halt and watched in aww as Armin and Mikasa got further up the post than anyone else. Only turning his eyes as Reiner appeared beside him when he was about to do his morning jog.

Soon Jean and Marco and so many more mem were cheering Armin along as they came for breakfast but found him almost at the top instead. Mikasa already sitting at the top, holding the ripe that Armin had tied around his middle before using it to help walk up the post, abseiling, but walking up instead of walking down.  All cheering his name and supporting him to keep going, not noticing they had gotten so loud that Levi woke up. The male left sleeping in as he struggled sleeping after feeling the disappointment from Mikasa over giving up on her friend like he did. 

Levi hurried outside his tent, fearing another fight broke out only to tense as an arrow landed by his foot. His head shot up before he stared completely stunned at finding both Mikasa and Armin sitting at the top of the post. Armin mostly sitting on Mikasa lap, rope still tied around him like a safety net. Mikasa giving a smug look as she was clearly the one to throw the arrow down at him. The two weights slung over Armin lap like no big deal and he had a shit eating grin on his face, clearly smug over his achievement in helping to reach the arrow. The brains and the brawn duo being shown to everyone and showing to Levi that every man was needed in their group.

Every man shot their arrows perfectly, hitting all three tomato's and targets. No one stance messy but just perfect earning Levi to give an approving nod towards them all.

Armin finally leading the jog with the buckets of water as the rest all hurried after him. A small race beginning to form as Levi followed at the back amused. Before joining the race as Mikasa slowed her pace, knocking onto him on purpose and giving a cheeky grin towards him, daring him to race her. And he did.

Mikasa landing more precise hits and kicks on Levi during their one to one combat. Panicking as she just punched him rather hard by mistake, worrying over punching  a commander officer but Levi  just chuckled, a bit of pride in his eyes towards her while he rubbed his chin. The punch had actually hurt, bad, he was sure it was gonna bruise. 

With all the force of a great typhoon

Reiner happily jumping from post to post over the river with complete ease and even laughing as he enjoyed himself. The rest following after him a little more confident and none of them falling into the river itself.

With all the strength of a raging fire

Levi gladly threw the marital arts sticks out towards all the men once more. Mikasa grabbing both Jean and Eren's sticks before the two could start any fights and happily passing each one to them directly,  with a tiny, almost hidden friendly smile. Both Eren and Jean gladly smiling back as they accepted their sticks. Mikasa glancing as all her new friends stood around her and Armin just watching a little proud before feeling bashful as all their friends turned to him with smiles too.

All of them moving in sink perfectly.

Jean finally getting passed the flaming arrows filed without a single hit or tripping over in the smoky darkness.

Marco and Armin finally breaking the stone block instead of knocking himself out. 

Eren and Reiner deflecting every stone thrown at him as he kept the bucket of water perfectly balanced on his head.

Mikasa grabbing more than one fish from the river and proudly grinning at her handy work as she shoved them towards Levi who grimaced before finally ruffling her hair wit a true laugh,  shocking the taller women. She'd really love to hear him laugh again, it was a really beautiful sound to her.

And finally their canon target was shot down.
