Today was one of the most important days of all their lives. Today they were here to complete one last mission, a mission that had to end with success. 

Failure was not an option.  

Armin was in charge of the plan, he had gathered everyone up and given out strict orders and tasks for each and every one of them to complete. He drilled them down, making sure they all knew what to expect and how to handle any form of trouble that crosses their path. 

Today, they'd complete the biggest mission of their lives and would forever stand as heroes in secret. 

It was do or die. 

Reiner stood by the back of the building, bullet full of eater in hand and ready to break throw a window at the closest scent of a burning flame. 

Marco stood to the side of the building close to the opened window, a wet rag in hand. He'd casually stroll pass and offer it up as soon as he notices dirt or ink close by. 

Jean stood by the door with a net, ready to storm in and capture any living thing inside and snatch it straight outside before anyone could even notice it. 

Eren was tied up, gaged and hidden far outside of the village area with no one else knowing his location. They've all jumped him in his sleep the night before to make sure his own parents wouldn't learn about his whereabouts. 

Armin himself stood by the door, a book full of notes held in one hand and a fist hovering over the wall ready to knock in a code to help pass on the answers if needed. 

Levi stood before the door, hand on his sword handle and ready to kick down the door and rescues the one captured and trapped inside with brute force if needed. 

Today, Mikasa was having her second chance with the matchmaker. 

It was rare but it happened.

If someone's able to claim that the matchmaker herself wasn't being proper or keeping to the standers she was given out. Or if proved that the women had failed due to uncontrivable events or reasoning. Or, on the rare occasions that the matchmaker spot the failed women around town and takes notice that she has the grace, beauty and skill to be a wife and offers up a second chance to prove herself again. 

Mikasa pointed out that the matchmaker had lost her act and acted as wild as an animal during her reactions towards Mikasa during the appointment. The matchmaker decided to give her a second chance, mostly after spotting a certain Captain visiting her more often and assumed that Mikasa had some worthy trait to capture such a man's interest. 

Carla and Grandpa stood where a crowd would normally form. Both clinging to one another and praying that Mikasa passes this time around. Both fully believing in her but both ready to give Mikasa the go ahead to threaten the matchmaker with Kenny's sword if needed. 

In what seems to have taken hours but mostly just half an hour, the doors spung open and Levi quickly let his hand fall from his sword as his future wife stood before him with no screaming or cries happening behind her. 

"I passed" Mikasa announced with a bit of bride. 

Unknown to her that Reiner, Jean and Marco were all hiding up their collected tools for this mission and rushing back towards the family home, pretending that they'd only arrived for the celebration party being held and not came the night before as back up.  As well as finding Eren and freeing him before making sure he didn't tell anyone he was kidnapped. 

"I knew you would" Levi replied, pulling her into a hug and more happy over the fact she seemed happy with herself. 

"I'm so proud of you, Mikasa. You'll be a great wife, just as I've always known you would be" Carla smiled sweetly, pulling her daughter into a joyful hug and so glad that she had passed this time. Knowing that her daughter needed to pass for her own mental state than to be an actual wife. 

"Learnt from the best" Mikasa confesses as she pulls back, knowing that Carla was the person she looked up most. 

"Shall we take a stroll around the shops?" Levi asked as he offered his arm towards her, knowing they needed to buy time for their friends to grab Eren and return to the house before they arrive. 

"You can pick something out that you like as an award" Grandpa added with an excited nod, wanting to spoil his granddaughter. More so after having bought so many books for his youngest grandson and so many sweets for the oldest while they were away at war. The two had returned to their room full of gifts for them since the elderly man took to morning walks to help pass the time and always felt guilty over not buying anything. 

"I'll need to hurry home and check that my husband hasn't burnt the food. He's a terrible cook" Carla mumbled back with a worried frown as she knew how useless her husband could be in the kitchen. 

"We'll stay here for an hour and return to the house afterwards" Armin smiled back, nodding for his mother to get going before the house burns down. 

"Have fun" Carla called out, waving to them all before hurrying home to check on the meal she's been preparing for today to celebration Mikasa passing. 

Grandpa and Armin walked ahead, chattering among themselves over the latest book they've shared and read. Catching up on bonding time missed during the war and leaving the young courting couple to take a stroll together without their every move being watched. 

Both Levi and Mikasa happy to walk in a content silence, both having said as much as needed to be said already between them. Talking in silence with their bodies, actions and the small love sick glint in their eyes.

They fell to a slow stop as they noticed a few rings in a shop window. They weren't overly fancy or expensive and certainly never used for a wedding both the set had caught both their eyes. Sharing a smile and a firm nod before they hurried inside and bought them. 

Odd rings for an odd couple suited them rather well.

A/N: Took much longer than I ever planned but it's finally finish and done with. This Au has been a real fun to write and I'm sorry for having taken so long to complete it. Hope you all enjoyed it and was meant with an ending you can like.
