Armin was terrified.

He was having a full on mental break down and panicking as if the walls were breeched again. They weren't, he checked, in hopes that the walls would be broken down and his focus could be moved onto that problem instead. 

Armin's madness had started after his latest conversation with Mikasa, private conversation. 

They both loved Eren, well, some more than others, but Eren wasn't the best to always have a heart to heart or just a real conversation with. To rant about silly little things or mention something dumb to get excited over. Eren was focused on freedom, he sometimes forgets that other people can sometimes get caught up in the little things while also holding a main goal. 

That often left Mikasa and Armin to bond with their little private chats. Neither passed on anything private or important to the other. They kept each other's secrets. Reassured, comforted and advised the other when it was needed. 

But now, Armin had no one to talk with over the current matter at hand. 

Mikasa was going to confess her love. 

She had finally decided to go through with it and try to woo her crush. 

Armin wasn't prepared to face a heartbroken Mikasa. 

Not when she rarely loved so openly and deeply, losing two families instead of just one left her .. scared to publicly love again. 

And Eren was a huge damn jerk. 

Sure, Eren was Armin's best friend and a step up brother. But he was still a prick half the time and a bit of a selfish bastard too. 

He'd break Mikasa's heart brutally without even realizing it or worse, flat out reject her before scolding her for her feelings when Freedom was deemed more important. 

Sure, Eren cared for Mikasa but he loved her like a sister, as family and as a friend. 

But Eren was also a huge dumb idiot that'd crush Mikasa's heart.

More so when Mikasa learns over Eren holding a crush on Captain Levi. 

It wasn't hard for Armin to figure it all out. 

Mikasa was always .. overly caring towards Eren compared to how she loved him. He was the baby of their group and Mikasa would burn the walls down if they dared to lay a hand on him. But for Eren, she'd take a blade to her own throat to save him. 

It was clear she had a crush on his friend but he had pray that she'd grown out of it after finding literally  anyone else to fall in love with. She could have anyone, Mikasa was the best human in the world. She held many strengths and weakness, she even had a kind and good heart that loved more than others knew. 

Serious,  Armin was begging for her to take some type of interest in anyone else after learning that Eren was gay. He didn't want her to get her heart broken and just fall in love with someone else that she could have a happy ending with. 

And learning Eren was gay ... well, the guy admired their captain a little too much for it to be mere admiration anymore. Armin was pretty sure he'd seen his best friend purposely say something dumb just for the captain to hit him, seeming to enjoy being hit by him due to the fact that it meant the Captain paid attention on him and touched him. 

Armin was going to make sure that Eren didn't date the captain. That relationship wasn't healthy and a little obsessive by this point. 

Armin decided that maybe throwing himself into the next titan's mouth he meets might make his life easier. If he dies, he wouldn't have to deal with Mikasa's heart being broken nor Eren's unhealthy love towards their captain. If he lived, Mikasa would mother hen him so much that she'd delay confessing and take even longer to gain the courage to try and confess again. Meaning he still wouldn't have to deal with any heart break and Eren would also be fuelled to end the titans even more and keep away from the captain in his spare time. 

It's a win-win. 

He just needs to find a titan. 

Or maybe not. 

Mikasa was heading towards the higher ranked building, a determined but full of nerves glint to her eyes. 

Oh no, she was going to confess before the next expedition. 

He had to stop her. 

He'd be supportive over her relationship and love life IF it was with anyone but their kinda brother. 

He knew she'd actual kill the captain this time around if she learns the truth. 

She's finally stopped reacting to the captain beating Eren up whenever he's an idiot and even seems to train with the captain almost daily's. They've found some form of truce and peace together. 

But she'd clearly slaughter the captain for gaining her brother's love. 

Armin isn't ready to be a witness in court again, he's happy hiding behind Mikasa or Eren whenever he has to deal with scary people. 

How will he hide behind their backs if Mikasa's the murderous on trial and Eren's sobbing over his dead crush. 

Armin had no time. 

He had to think over what Carla would have done if she still stood here.

That's it, he'd burst into the room after Mikasa and interrupt her before she confessions anything publicly and save her from the embarrassment and cruelty of rejection. He'd hide behind her back when the Captain glares towards him for bursting into the room. He'll also maybe get a self help book for Eren on their way back to the cabins later. 

Speed walking after his big sister and other best friend, not running since it was against the rules unless it was a messenger or an emergency situation. He was going to make a scene in the high ranking officer building, he didn't need to break any other rules today. 

Once he had speed walked without risking any running speeds, he hurried to Captain's Levi office.

Not actual thinking over why Mikasa would chose now to confess when she knew someone else would be around to witness it all. Unless she just suddenly became stubborn over confessing her feelings and was planning to blurt them out before she chickened out. 

Hearing voices inside, Armin swallowed his spit and forced himself into the officer without knocking or warning. 

He was going to stop himself from having a heart attack by stopping this confession. 

Or.. maybe he was a little early since both the captain and Mikasa were just staring at him with clear judgmental eyebrows raised towards him. 

Armin felt his face heated up and his throat felt awfully dry that he couldn't even find any words to speak that he had planned to say. 

"Armin?" Mikasa softly spoke, her eyes filling with concern over her friend as he just awkwardly stayed frozen in the doorway. 

"I um- urr... Sasha found the extra fruit for snacks?" Armin struggled to say loud enough to be heard, cringing over such an terrible lie to use. 

"She has or she will?" Levi asked as he crossed his arms over his chest, trying to work out what one was happening. 

"Yes" Armin chocked out, starting to sweat. 

"We already knew she'd find them at some point. But has she found them now? If she has than tell four-eyes. It's her time to babysit any of your brats and deal with any problems you've caused" Levi sighed as he rolled his eyes and knew it wasn't his problem to deal with. 

"You take turns to discipline us?" Armin weakly asked, finally understanding so much on why different captains arrive during different days of the week whenever their group of friends cause trouble. The Captains had formed a babysitting schedule to deal with them now. 

Levi glanced towards Mikasa, the two holding a silent conversation as Armin still stood there. Becoming a sweaty and pale mess. Having no clue just how bad he looked from all his nerves taking control over his body. 

"Are you feeling unwell? Why don't I take you to the medical cabin to be checked over, yeah?" Mikasa gently says as she steps closer, wrapping a comforting arm around him and getting ready to help walk him towards the medical cabin. 

"Y-Yeah! I'm ill. You need to pay me full attention" Armin blurted out happily, glad to get Mikasa away from her crush and ruin her courage to confess. 

"You came here because you wanted Mikasa to pay you attention? Is he actually your son?" Levi deadpanned as he openly judged the blonde genius before him before glancing towards Mikasa as if she had some explaining to do. 

"Don't start this again. They're my family. I care for them. We're all we've got left. He's just attached to me because I've always protected him" Mikasa huffed back with a frown as she sent a light glare towards the captain, already sick of the argument. 

"Going to start rocking him in your arms whenever he's grumpy and needs a nap?" Levi dryly replied as he slumped back down into his office chair, clearly not amused by Armin being so needy so openly. 

"Mikasa, I really don't feel well. I think I need hugs and you're Da's famous sick soup" Armin whined, prepared to play the act of a child to get his friend away from this building before Eren arrives. 

"Let's get you to bed and resting before I get a kitchen pass to make that soup for you. You'll feel better in no time and I'll stay by your bedside as much as you need me" Mikasa replies with a soothing voice, running her hand through his hair like a mother would to their child. 

"You've spoiled them too much. They'll never survive on their own or grow up" Levi scoffed back as he rolled his eyes over the sight, the two had yet to make it out of his office door yet. 

Armin was ready to start crying in the next second if they didn't leave. He was trying to be a very good friend and the best brother ever but the captain was ruining it. Eren would clearly be back any minute now to report his return from Captain Hanji's test and everything would be game over. 

Mikasa deciding to give up the fight with their captain and started to walk him out before suddenly stopping as a third person appeared and crashed into them. Armin felt tears fill his eyes as the gods clearly hated him and were laughing at his misery.

Eren had arrived. 

And clearly he'd be jealous over the pair of them taking up Levi's precious time without him. He was always easily jealous over not gaining enough attention and now he'd be upset and even more mean towards Mikasa's feelings. 

Armin needed to throw himself into a titan and he needed to have done it last week. 

"You're here again, Mikasa? Why do you keep being sent to the captains officer lately?" Eren asked with a deep frown, glaring towards his sister and ready to demand answers as he knew it wasn't normal for her to keep arriving here. 

"She doesn't like the captain like you do. Please show her mercy, I'm begging you. The walls wouldn't survive a heart broken Mikasa. It'd destroy us all. I beg you .. just be nice and let her down gently. She isn't into the captain, you can keep him but you really need to get some help since you're just .. wrong. It's not healthy to be in an abusive relationship" Armin blurted back in a desperate and scared tone, not wanting to see his friend fight or get hurt emotionally. Needing t calm Eren down and prove Mikasa wasn't a love rival to him. 

"What?" Eren asked with wide eyes. 

"Heartbreak?" Mikasa repeated even more confused than when this whole thing started. 

"And now I'm trapped watching a drama play out.. It's not even my day to deal with this shit" Levi groaned out as he ran a hand through his hair and wondering why this was always happening to him and none of the other captains. 

"Armin, were you worried that I wouldn't pay you any attention if I confessed?" Mikasa quietly asked, feeling guilty that her friend thought she'd ditch him once she confessed. 

"When did I enter an abusive relationship. Sure, I don't feel great when Mikasa carries me but she's normally saving my life or stopping me from fighting someone. I've just gotten use to it by now. It's not abusive" Eren mumbled back with an puzzled expression, glancing to his sister and wondering if Armin's misunderstood something. 

"You'll never be second best. You're still my family and I love you. You're my best friend, for now and forever. We'll spend as much time as we've always have. You don't need to worry" Mikasa reassured as she held her friend's hand and trying to make it clear that she wouldn't be pushing him away. 

"That's not what I'm trying to say-" Armin started to whine back before being spoken over. 

"Will you all shut up and deal with this elsewhere. Apart from Mikasa. We were in the middle of something" Levi snapped back in annoyance and wanting some peace in his office again. 

"Our tea time can wait" Mikasa calmly replied as she glanced towards the captain over her shoulder. 

"These tea leaf's aren't cheap. You bought them for me and I won't have them wasted due to those foolish brats. Let the two deal with this problem themselves and genius can catch you up on the end result later" Levi reminded her in an irritated tone as he didn't want the tea to be wasted after he knew she'd saved some wages to buy them as a gift for him. He knew the two men were old enough to deal with their own problems and solve the problem out together. 

"Levi!" Mikasa yelled back in a scolding tone as now wasn't the time. 

"I'll use my rank to order them out and for you to drink your tea.. I'm not the nice one between us" Levi warned, completely serious and ready to use his rank as he knew the tea was getting cold. 

"You've been drinking tea with the captain? What the hell, Mikasa! Why didn't you tell u-" Eren started to yelp out, placing his full attention on Mikasa once more before being cut off by Armin. 

"She's not after him. Don't punish her for a misunderstanding" Armin cried back over his friend, trying to stop any heart breaks from happening. 

"Misunderstanding? Armin, you've lost me" Mikasa confessed as she turned her focus back on her shorter friend and wondering what she's missed since their last chat. 

"I just don't want to see anyone get hurt. Mikasa I know you were planning to confess to Eren today but he's in love with the captain. Eren is awful with feelings and would clearly emotionally hurt you and break your heart. I wanted to stop it and protect you from it. And Eren .. you seriously need to see how a healthy and happy relationship works. You've got issues. Real issues that therapy just can't help anymore. Please, get a self help book and read it before you start licking the very ground that Captain Levi walks on in hopes to get a taste of his sweat. It's creepy how much you try to get his attention now" Armin screamed out with tears pouring from his eyes and his hands gripping at his hair as he blurted it all out for them to hear and know over.

All three just stood frozen on the spot, even the two cups of teas were left forgotten after Armin's outburst. Everyone just stared at the sobbing blonde and taking in everything he just admitted out loud to them and the story he had assumed was going on. 

A chuckle filled the air and earning three sets of eyes to fall upon the captain who held a hand over his mouth to hide his grin. Clear amusement shining in his eyes as he tries to hold back anymore laughter over the whole matter. 

"This isn't funny. He's clearly gotten the wrong hints somewhere during .. however he thought this up" Mikasa snapped back, lightly glaring towards the captain. 

"It's a little funny" Levi admitted with a smirk, rather glad he got to see this play out with a front row seat. 

"Armin, I'm not into the captain. He scares me as much as Mikasa does. I've been trying to prove to Mikasa why she shouldn't be on good terms with him. I thought they were gaining a friendship but clearly they've bene having private tea time without anyone knowing about it" Eren slowly explains to his friend as he needs the other to understand that he's just been trying to prove to Mikasa the the captain wasn't as "nice" as she commented about some months ago. 

"And I hold feelings for Levi. Not Eren. He's the one I've been telling you about and thought I was hinting towards. We've talked over our feelings and we've been taking time, our tea time, to learn about each other better and see if our feelings are real or just admiration caught up in the rush" Mikasa simply explained with a small smile as she looked to her friend, needing him to understand who she actual liked all along. 

"Oh"  Armin breathed out, stunned over the whole unfolding events before him. 

Eren was purposely upsetting the captain in hopes to be punished by him to prove to Mikasa he wasn't a good guy to befriend. 

Mikasa wasn't in love with Eren but Levi instead and have been spending time with him in private to learn better over him in hopes to learn if a relationship would be worth the risk of dating among camp. 

Oh wow, Armin wanted to throw himself into a titan's mouth for all new reasons now. 

Maybe Eren would take pity on him and just turn titan on him now and eat him instead. 

"Can I still have that hug?" Armin weakly muttered back, teary eyes staring up at his sister. 

"As long as a certain captain wouldn't get jealous" Mikasa teased back as she stepped closer to the shorter boy and pulled him into a comforting and warm hug. 

"Real mature" Levi grumbled back as he rolled his eyes, unimpressed over the teasing. 

"You thought I was in love with captain?" Eren cried out horrified. 

"Make that two hugs" Armin's voice was muffled by Mikasa shoulder but he felt Mikasa's arms tighten around him, hoping to comfort him better.

A/N: I don't think this could be counted as a love tringle after all. But I tried my best. I knew I suck at love tringles but hopefully the comedy side was still okay. 

It was either this story plot or Levi turning a bit mad as he assumes that Mikasa is in love with Eren due to how she acts around him. But it ends up that Mikasa learnt sibling behaviours by reading one of Carla's hidden up adult books that involve two step-siblings. Young Mikasa, who still didn't understand the different between family love and love-love, had learnt how to be a sibling from the two early chapters of the book before Carla had hidden it up somewhere different. She thought she'd been doing normal sibling behaviour all along since no one corrected her, assuming she was just shaken up from her trauma still. 

Armin knows. Mikasa told him over the book. Armin learnt what the book was about and pretended to "accidently" find it while visiting and being the reason Carla had hidden the book in a new spot. He never tried to correct Mikasa since Eren didn't seem overly bothered and just assumed he was some kind of support buddy for her that she needed to cling too. 

Armin sat bad and enjoyed the show over the captain trying to woo Mikasa whole assuming that she was in love with Eren. Causing him to be a bit more harsher on Eren in return. 

But I didn't have the guts to even try and turn that into an actual oneshot and stuck with this one instead.
