"Listen up, I'm not here to keep you alive or to mother you because in truth I give no shits over any of you. You're either going to get in my way or you'll become a decent soldier I won't have to look after. This is your life, your choice and you're own chance at making a new future for us all. I can't promise that life would be better once the titans are all wiped out, Humans are rather shitty and always finds a new fear to take over their hearts. So, why I am your captain, I'm not your babysitter. You'll be trained to be the best you can be but you got to have the heart if you want to survive here, you got to give up your humanity to save it" Mikasa spoke, her voice cold but almost like an angel, calling all to listen but earning them to shiver as the chill ran down their spines. 

All eyes watching as she walked up and down among the lines of soldiers, all standing at attention and taking in every word they spoke. Fear, excitement or both filling their stomachs as they took in everything she spoke. 

"I know the rumours over me and I know that you all might call me as Humanity Strongest but I'm not, I'm just a symbol to give other's hope. I never asked to be a hero and I will never act the hero you think I am. I fight to live and that's all, don't expect me to be some goddess of war for you because I won't" Mikasa spoke once more, a hiss in her voice and a deadly glare in her eyes making most of the new recruits freeze up before her. 

"Mikasa!" 

Everyone silently watched as Mikasa turned to look over her shoulder before rolling her eyes. Fully turning her body as the Commander slowed down his ran and coming to a full halt once he reached her. Catching his breath a little before looking back at her. 

"Did Hanji blow up another lab?" Mikasa asked with a raised eyebrow as Jean shook his eye.

"Nah, the newbie captain is rather behaved today but that's because I promised to get her a titan if she doesn't make any new damages for the rest of the month" Jean answered with a proud smile on his lips, finally finding a way to control one of the new captains, she joined up a couple years ago and has only been a captain for three months now but her titan love is something else. Jean made her the head of titan testing and Captain Hanji seemed to love her new rank and job .. loves it a little too much since she's made a lot of trouble in the first couple months. 

"Came to give another speech for the new recruits?" Mikasa asked instead, placing a hand on her hip as she knew Jean loved his cocky speeches and scaring the newbies a little.

"Oh, don't you worry Mikasa. I've got just the speech for them later tonight" Jean smirked, a playful look in his eyes making Mikasa roll her hands but he knew she was smiling deep down. He's gotten use to reading her stone like face and movements after all this time.

"Than how can I help" Mikasa replied and Jean frowned. 

"That Erwin guy, think you can .. I don't know, get him out of my office. He's looking into Armin old notes books. I know we promised to keep them locked up but I left the key out like an idiot. I don't think the world ready to read his old thoughts and well .. I know how you feel over these things" Jean awkwardly spoke as he rubbed the back of his neck, feeling bad. 

"You're the commander between us, can't you order him out" Mikasa sighed but her free hand hanging by her side was in a tight fist.

"I was planning on moving the books, placing them somewhere else and out the way of wondering eyes until humanity is ready for them" Jean explained and Mikasa gave a weak nod. 

"I'll pull him into training with the cadets" Mikasa answered and Jean gave a weak smile.

"Do you think they'll be proud over how far we came? I mean, compared to when we were all lined up as fresh cadets, some shaking in fear, some as level headed as ever and than me and that suicidal bastard arguing like idiots. You just breaking us apart like we were as light as bit of bread .... do you think they'll be smiling down, proud over how far we brought the survey corps?" Jean asked in a small voice, his eyes sadden and unsure as he glanced to the blue sky above, white clouds shaking into the faces of their old fallen friends.

"They'll be proud, we kept our promise and kept humanity moving forward. We will wipe out the titans and we'll give humanity a chance to taste real freedom once more. We'll take our fall friends to that ocean, we'll set them free" Mikasa answered with pride, glancing to the clouds as well.

Sasha filling our mouth with food why Connie tried stealing a bite after she stole some of his mash potato's. Reiner and Bertholdt standing together with smiles, arms draped over Annie now she had fallen died from her sickness and joined their fallen comrades. Marco and Ymir laughing with Christa over how foolish their friends were behaving. Than .. Armin and Eren, Armin smiling as brightly as ever as he gripped a new book to tell them all about it. Eren grinning like an idiot, a cheekiness to his eyes as he was ready to brag over killing all the titans. 

Hannes, her parents, Eren parents, Armin grandpa and so many more old friends or those who they grew to know. The old men cheering them on, the older soldiers patting their backs and those who would always treat them like they were still kids even during the worse of times. 

So many more comrades without names or without memory filling the clouds behind them, becoming nothing more then a pained blur and a silent remember over just how cruel life could be for those left behind. 

"Fucking assholes, giving up on us without a better fight. Leaving us to do all the hard and heavy work why they get to relax ... ASSHOLES ... WE'RE DO A MUCH BETTER JOB THAN YOU'LL EVER COULD" Jean sniffled before screaming out at the clouds, forgetting he was a commander for a moment and standing as a mere broken soldier. 

"You'll be able to boast about all our hard work one day, for now let's get back to our duty. We have a wall to bring down" Mikasa spoke softly, placing a hand on Jean shoulder as he gave a small sniffle.

"I'll shoved all our achievements in that suicidal bastard face until he jokes on it" Jean stubbornly grumbled. 

An explosion echoed the air making all the new recruits behind tense up, snapping their heads in the direction where smoke was starting to form.

"I'll go check on Hanji, you tell Erwin to report to me here within the next five minutes or I'll put him in Hanji Squad for the next week" Mikasa sighed, pinching the tip of her nose.

"God do I love having you on my side" Jean smirked, a proud and dreamy look in his eyes as he glanced to Mikasa. 

"Just go and for you newbies, five laps around the base as warm up .. now!" Mikasa muttered back to Jean before turning around and looking to the new cadets and giving them her order.

And that's where it be discontinued.

I planned to have Levi, Farlan and Isabel be placed in Mikasa squad. With Mikasa keeping an eye on Levi, not wanting him to follow in her steps and helping to protect his own future without him knowing it. Levi falling in love with Mikasa without noticing it until an event happens...

But that's as far as I got in planning and it's been sitting in dwarfs for awhile, just floating around and being moved around to let new chapters be uploaded.
