Marley had been so sure that their enemy were weaker and clueless.

That Merely was the only right choice for humanity's survival.

But Paradis Island wasn't just some defenceless new-born baby either, they were a real nasty toddler that didn't care what toy they broke or who they bit down on hard.

Paradis Island was going to leave a path of destruction in it's wake and that was something Marley would never be prepared for.

And it's how Levi found himself quietly chuckling to himself as he sat in an jail cell, awaiting to be killed by the enemy that he's tricked for the past five years.

He had never thought over himself being an skilled undercover spy but he was soon proved otherwise. Marley had seen him loyal to the bond, one of their best tools to use. He's seen the look in the soldiers eyes when he was found to be the spy, saw how some still didn't believe it and thought it might be some type of cover up for someone else.

But it was true.

He was the spy and he knew he wasn't the only one, even if he never learnt over any other spy's name or face.

Sure, not knowing who your fellow spies were made it difficult to not accidently kill them off but it was safter for all of them that way. Not knowing who to trust and risking exposing each other by being too obvious.

His death seemed a little boring in his eyes though.

Humanity's strongest killed by an firing squad.

Sounded a little depressing in truth.

He knew he couldn't control death but he had hoped for a little more excitement in his final moments. To have a death that would leave story tellers gushing over his end and not simply growing dull over it.

Maybe he should try breaking out and making an run for it.

He's seemed to have won over a handful of Marley soldiers in the past five years, most would look the other way as he escapes. Listen to his lies over him being blamed for the governments cover up.

Heck, he might even be able to start an rebellion here himself.

"You want me to take him out?" A women's voice coldly asked, her dark coal eyes staring straight towards the traitor in his cell.

"Yes" The officer answered from where he stood a few steps away.

"Swiftly?" She questions, looking the traitor over and getting a better read over him.

"Yes" The officer answered once more, clearly not wanting to spend to much time over this.

"Understood, sir" She replies with a quick nod, showing she accepted her orders.

The women, the Marley soldier, stayed staring towards him as the officer started to leave. His footsteps growing further and further away in the tensed silence. Levi finally pushed himself to stand, still trying to decide if he should fight back and run or accept his death.

He knew the younger lady before him was strong, she held leaned muscle and wouldn't have been sent alone to deal with a man of his skills if she wasn't skilled herself. The officer trusted her to kill him swiftly without causing a fuss.

Levi understood that meant he wasn't going to die by an firing squad's hands anymore. He was going to die by her hands instead.

It left him questioning why he was being killed off on the downlow.

Maybe him wonder if the soldiers were rebelling back or showing their mistrust towards the government and royals. Assuming that they were no longer the gods they played to be.

His cell gate simply unlocking and being pushed open brought his focus back to the now. Lifting an eyebrow as the women leaned against the doorway, overly relaxed.

"You heard the officer, I've got to take you out. I know just the place where we can grab a bite to eat" She told him, a light twitch on her smiles as she looked him dead in the eyes and showed she wasn't a threat to him.

He stared like a fool much longer then he should have. Not believing her at all.

But she wasn't going against any orders. She had purposely asked the questions in a certain way to make loopholes in them. She was helping him to escape at the small cost of an awkward and fast date.

"It better have decent tea. I loath Coffee" Levi sighs as he walks towards her, stepping out of his cell as she moves out of his way.

"So I've been told" She smirks back, closing his cell but not bothering to lock it again.

She takes the lead, leading them both out and only grabbing at his arm roughly a few times when they were passing patrolling guards. But most of the time he was able to walk beside her like they were old friends.

No one seemed to batter an eyelash towards him nor her, most soldiers and civilians left them drift pass as if they were mere ghosts in the world.

He took notice that some seemed to hold respect and hero worship towards the women as they caught sight of her. But she kept her spine straight and eyes focused on where she was going.

It made him wonder just who she was.

"I'm with the Ackerman Clan on Marley. YOU, Levi Ackerman, come from a different clan that was sent to Paradis Island when the walls were first being built. The two clans weren't foes but they weren't friends either. And for both our survival sakes, we settled at different locations"

"And why are you telling me this?" Levi

"Before I was born, your clan had stopped sending word back to my clan. Both clans had secretly stayed in contract since the beginning of titans. We knew how doomed humanity was from the start. Had hoped to save it. For a full year since the last message sent by your clan, my clan stayed sending messages in hope for a reply. Praying your clan had merely gone in hiding somehow. We sent a spy to the walls but they couldn't find anyone from that clan. Over the years, your clan had been hunted down. Something they didn't report over to us"

"Seems like an important detail to mention in our clan's letters" Levi

"I thought the same. I think your clan knew they couldn't completely live peacefully with our own. We weren't friends and we weren't foes. If the surviving members took shelter with us, they'd have to live like us. They didn't want that. So, they took their chances in the walls"

"I never met another Ackerman in the walls apart from my mother and uncle" Levi

"The spy we sent was my mother. She died. She stayed in the walls to keep an eye on Paradis Island and send word back. She stayed hidden, even fell in love and married. Her husband understood her work and the dangers. They even had me. But somehow she was found out by those in the walls. A handful of criminals had been told her rare beauty would make them top price for the right buyer. They planned to sell her. She was a grieving wife and a scared mother when she had faced those men. She had been killed by them as my father was. I was taken but rescued shortly afterwards. Sent back to Marley a couple months afterwards as they deemed it wasn't safe to keep any Ackerman's in the walls anymore"

"I'm sorry for your lost"  Levi

"It happened a long time ago"

"Doesn't stop the hurt" Levi

"We know the Scout Regiment has dealt with the threats that held power within the walls. It's safe again. For all"

"Seems you know a lot about our lives while we know very little over yours" Levi

"You know enough. We're part of the rebellion while still holding some power in Marley. We're feared. Seen as a threat to Marley but while we still play at being their dogs, they know to not plan our fall"

"Why are you helping me to escape?" Levi

"You are a very admired and loved man to Paradis Island. And it seems your dear friends have missed you greatly. It time for you to return home and to help plan the next battle. We know Marley will be hit and we will help once it's time to strike"

"Shouldn't you talk to my boss?" Levi

"My boss has talked to your boss. Hanji and a few other trusted souls have been staying with us for the past two months. We prefer them staying with us instead of you lot sneaking about Marley trying to fit in like you had done in the past"

"You knew over our arrival?" Levi

"We did. You guys looked starstruck over Marley. It was fun to watch. You're all lucky that no one had grown suspicious over how clueless your group had been. But we mostly kept anyone who might have sent a second glance towards your friends to patrol elsewhere. But until the war is over with, you and your friends will be staying with us where we can protect you all instead of wondering around like tourists"

"That sounds reasonable. Can you take me to see my friends?" Levi

"Not me personally. But I chose this place for the main reason over a comrade meeting me here to collect you. I've completed my officer's orders, I've taken you out. Now it's up to you to decide if you can stay fighting for your side"

"Can I at least get a name before you leave?" Levi

"Mikasa" Mikasa

"Don't be a creep and watch me from a distance next time, Mikasa. Come over and greet me" Levi

"I'll think about it, Levi" Mikasa
