As always it started with Hanji doing an experiment that backfired.

Not even Hanji knew what she was hoping to create with her latest experiment. But wouldn't stop with her latest creation even as Moblit had begged her to give up when she had no end result in mind.  

Levi was asked to pull her out of her lab and leave her squad to clean it up and end whatever she had been doing inside. 

All had gone well, Levi had manage to kick her out of her lab and about to call forward her squad when something had exploded. 

He was sprayed with a warm liquid, thankful it wasn't boiling since he'd have been scarred. 

Due to Hanji not knowing what was in the mixture itself, he was sent to the medical ward to be kept an eye on and watch for any obvious side effects. 

If nothing obvious had happened after a forty-eight hour watch period, he'd be allowed to return to his duties and most likely kill the crazy four eyes. 

Levi took his resting period seriously, keeping a distance from others and took time to relax. Reading a few books he had started but never finished. Not dealing with any paperwork and taking in the view from his ward's room. 

All had been going well until Mikasa paid him a visit. 

A visit that had ended up proving that a side effect had indeed taken effect. 

Levi was unable to see anyone.

No one at all. 

Apparently him keeping a distance was only one-sided. 

He had doctors check on him, Nurses popping in and soldiers visiting him the whole time. 

Everyone had just assumed he'd been in a bad mood when he never responded or took notice over them when they did enter his medical ward private room. 

Mikasa was able to see both Levi and everyone else, leaving her ordered to act as the middle man during this whole mess. 

As well as left to guard the captain once the rumours spread throughout soldiers that the soldier couldn't see or hear them. It left some pushing their luck whenever they spotted him. 

With Mikasa by his side, she could stop anyone from getting handsy or slacking off by taking their names and passing them on to the captain. 

No one seemed to understand why Levi could only see Mikasa. 

All had questioned it and even tried to prove that she stood as a lair. 

But Levi had answered all her questions, took notice when she entered a room and was able to describe her outfit in anyway the others had tried to rearrange it. 

"Remove yourself or lose those hands that are clearly no longer needed" Mikasa threatened towards someone that Levi didn't even know was inside his private room.

Levi lifted an eyebrow as he stood waiting for the water to boil for his tea pot and watched as Mikasa seemed to march someone out of his private room. Walking them through his office that his private room was connected to and escort them out of the office for good. 

She returned with a remorseful look, always seeming regretful whenever anyone entered within five meters within him without reason. She'd overlook anyone merely walking past or cutting through as it'd be done if he could see them or not. 

But when he was in a room or standing around as he currently was, she'd look guilty for allowing his personal space to be broken unknowingly to him. 

"Male or female?" Levi asked as he turned back to his small kitchen area, knowing the water was finally boiled. 

"Does it truly mattered? An animal in heat is an animal in heat" Mikasa sighed as she clicked the door close behind her and stood with her back against it, knowing others wouldn't be able to freely walk in if she blocked it. 

"I had a bet with Mike over what gender has a better crush on me. Something that started out before I reached my rank as Captain. This is the best time to start a tally board to use against him and win my bet" Levi simply explained as he poured the water into his tea pot. Placing the tea pot on the tray afterwards. 

"What gender did you bet against?" Mikasa asked, curious over what the captain had betted on. 

"I said men. I grew up in the undergrounds, I know I was pretty" Levi answered as he carried the tray towards the small table that only sat two, tea cups already sat ready to be used on the table.  

"You are currently winning, sir. But the women are the worse to deal with. They're more possessive while a simply glare to the men has them leaving silently and without a fight" Mikasa replied with honestly, a troubled look on her eyes as she wasn't enjoying having to deal with the handsy and stalk-ish soldiers sneaking up on him.  

Levi merely nodded before lifting his hand towards the free chair and expecting her to join him for a cup of tea. He rolled his eyes and silently ordered her to seat with a nod when she hesitation by the door, not wanting to leave anyone else wondering in again. 

Mikasa soon joined him and the two held a content silence as they sipped at their tea. Their minds empty as they merely enjoyed the other's company. Knowing that if it wasn't for Hanji's failed experiment neither would have gotten a chance to just sit here and exist togehter peacefully. 

Levi knew that most of the camp was left curious over why the man could only see and hear Mikasa during the couple of days the experiment had worked on him. 

He knew he had frighten many once he was able to see and hear them again. Dealing with them personally and taking the list of names gathered over those who had slacked off during his time of blindness. 

For all of the camp, everything had soon returned to normal and no one openly asked over Hanji's experiment. But all were left thinking over the explanation that none were ever able to give. 

Mikasa would be left in the unknown, as much as anyone else in camp. 

But Levi knew the reason.

He's know it for some time now, deep down. 

Mikasa had always been the only person he's ever truly seen, who he's always ever looked at. 

Mikasa was the only person who held his full attention and he knew, she would forever hold his attention as she did his heart for the rest of his life. 

Levi might not have been able to see the rest of the world for a couple of days but he's never taken any attention over anyone who wasn't Mikasa for some time now. 

Knew he had gained feelings for her.

To him, she was his whole world, his whole focus and the experiment had proved that more obviously to him.
