"Kiyoko-san!" I shouted at the black haired girl ahead. My (f/c) sneakers ran me all the way to her side. 

"(f/n)-san, how are you?"

"I'm good!" I said excitedly.

"Good. I like your hair by the way."

"Oh, thank you! I was just trying something new." I touched my (h/c) hair.

"You should wear it like that more often."

"T-thank you Kiyoko-senpai."

"(f/n)-san, you don't need to call me senpai. You are only a year below me.

"Oops, I forgot!" 

"Don't worry about it." She smiled.

We walked to the school, talking about homework and studies. I had been having trouble with math, and Kiyoko-san said she'd tutor me.

"Then do you want to come over my house after school?" I asked her.

"Yea, we'll walk home after volleyball practice."

"Okay, cool!"

"Well," we stopped at the entrance of Karasuno. "I'll see you later (f/n)-san." She walked away in the direction of the third year classes. Kiyoko was one of my only friends that were girls, the rest were boys.

"(f/n)-channnn!" I heard two familiar voices yell out to me. Two pairs of arms wrapped over my shoulders. 

"Yu! Ryu! You're gonna snap me in half!" I yelled out, running out of breath.

"We missed you (f/n)!" Yu yelled turning my body to face them.

"Calm down, it was one weekend!" I yelled back again.

"Did anyone try to hit on you? I could beat them up." Ryu said making a tough face and puffing his chest. 

"What? No! Shut up!" I laughed at them. I present to you my best friends, Nishinoya Yu and Tanaka Ryunosuke. We grew up a few neighborhoods part from each other and always went to the same schools. They were basically my non-biological brothers, so they were always really protective over me, especially now that we're older and I'm more "susceptible to hormonal boys who want to hook up with me" as they had put it on my 14th birthday. It was sweet that they cared but they go overboard sometimes.

"Aww, I really wanted to beat someone up." Ryu said.

"Wow." I said straight-faced.

"Did you study for the test today (f/n)?" Yu asked. I snapped my head at him.

"What? I had no idea we had a test! What class?!"

"(worst subject). Hah, that's what you get for sleeping in class!" He chuckled.

"Shit! Of course its my worst subject!" I whined.

"Hahhh!" Ryu laughed. "(f/n)-chan didn't study!" He sang. I punched him in the arm and he whimpered, but didn't say anything else. 

We parted ways while walking down the halls since our first periods were different.

--TIME SKIP CUZ IM NOT WRITING YOUR WHOLE SCHOOL DAY--

I anxiously watch the seconds hand tick closer toward the 12. My foot quickly tapped the tile floor, as I grabbed my books.

5...4...3...2...1!

I pushed back my chair as I stood up and ran out the door, barely acknowledging my teacher yelling out the homework.

I ran down through the halls. A hall monitor yelled out to me but I kept running. 243, 244, 245 - my hands skimmed the lockers until I stopped at my own, covered in pointless doodles of mostly anime characters. I opened the lock, put my books inside, grabbed my bag and gym shoes, and slammed the door shut. 

I sped to the gym with a smile on my face. Volleyball had always been my favorite  sport, ever since I was little. I'd watch college and high school games all the time on TV. But my favorite games were the ones from Karasuno. The ace of Karasuno was amazing, and they called him the Little Giant. He was short for volleyball, but he could jump and was amazing in mid-air fights. Just thinking about sitting in front of my TV, watching Karasuno play gets me hyped up. 

"Manager-chan!" A cheerful voice called out from inside the gym.

"Hi Hinata-Kun!" I yelled back. The orange haired boy jogged over to the gym entrance, and the dark blue haired boy followed him. "Hi Kageyama-kun!" I waved.

"Hi (f/n)-san, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," I said. Hinata looked back at Kageyama with a scared look. 

"Would you ever date Hinata?" Kageyama showed barely any emotion, but Hinata's face was red.

"Kageyama!" He yelled.

"Uhm," I started. They both looked at me. "Well honestly, Hinata is too short for my taste." I said scratching the back of my neck. 

"I told you shrimpy." Kageyama said to Hinata, who was laying on the floor in embarrassment. 

"Mrph!" He muffled.

I bent down next to him and lifted his head. "S-sorry Hinata!"

"Ah! Uhm! It's okay. I get it. You're my senpai don't apologize! But, don't worry, I don't like you or anything. Me and Kageyama were just talking about it."

"Okay." I smiled.

"Hey! Get in here!" Daichi yelled. Kageyama and Hinata glanced to each other with a fearful look, then ran back inside. I laughed. Daichi was really nice and encouraging, but when he gets mad it's actually really scary. 

Kiyoko walked up next to me and said hello. We took our shoes off and replaced them with our gym shoes, then entered the gym.

"Ah! The assisstent manager and manager have arrived!" Announced Takeda-sensei happily. "Now that you're both here, I have to call a meeting." He turned to call the team in. Ryu and Yu looked at me wondering what the sudden meeting was about, but I shook my head not knowing either.

"I  called around last night to different high school coaches," He began, "and I scheduled a practiced match with Aoba Johsai. "Suddenly, the room's atmosphere grew dark. I looked around at everyone and saw that their faces were a mix of sternness and disappointment. 

"Are we playing here?" Asked Daichi.

"Yes," Coach Ukai said. "It'll be after school, and you all need to be here no matter what."

"This time," Hinata said, "we'll beat them!"

"All right!" Everyone cheered.

I leaned over to Kiyoko and wispered, "It's just a practice match."

"Maybe to some people, but in the InterHigh prelims, Karasuno and Aoba Johsai faced off in an intense 3 match game. We were so close to winning, but after many deuces, Aoba Johsai ended up beating us 33-31, and we were disqualified in only the second round."

I looked around at all these people I could call my friends. They were so full of hope, even after their defeat. This was what volleyball does, and its's the reason I love it so much. Volleyball brings people together and makes them strong, both as teammates and friends.

OMG OMG OMG yessss i finally did it! i really hope you liked this first chapter. I will DEFIANTLY publish the second chapter soon bc i already wrote it.... i might publish it today actually ill have to see. i had a snow day so im trying to update a lot. my back really hurts rn tho cuz im sitting on my bed but keep your eyes out for updates, im having a lot of fun writing this story!!!
