Chapter 17

"I'm glad you finally decided to pull your head out of your ass and talk to us." Pidge grumbled through the phone as they rolled over in their bed. Lance had decided to video chat with Pidge and Hunk, seeing as he really wasn't mad at them.

"Yeah, sorry about that." Lance said sheepishly, knowing that he was the one in the wrong and being willing to accept it and move on.

"It's all good buddy, we get it." Hunk said in a reassuring tone, as always.

"I get no such thing." Pidge interjected, slightly raising their hand in the air.

"Pidge leave him alone, you know this couldn't have been easy for him. I know it wouldn't for you." Hunk shot back, just wanting all of his friends to get along again.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. Anyways, lover boy, how'd the date go Friday night?" Pidge asked while smirking at the phone.

"You had a date?!" Hunk asked in astonishment.

"Don't act so surprised, really dude." Lance said, holding a hand over his heart from his friend's lack of faith.

"It still doesn't count as a date, but nice try!" Keith yelled from the bathroom.

"I recall-" Lance started to yell back, about to bring up the kiss again.

"I swear to god McClain, if you say something about my tongue down your throat again, I'm not taking you on an actual date!" Keith said, cutting off Lance's reasoning.

"You're date was with Keith?!"

"You two kissed?!"

His two friends were shocked for different reasons, seeing as one of them had more information on the subject than the other.

Before Lance could respond, Keith came back into the room, hair still dripping wet from the shower he had just taken. He plopped himself down behind Lance on the bed, now visible in the video call. "I was losing at lazar tag and I was despite for a way to distract him." He said, wrapping an arm around the boy he was kind of dating and resting his head on his shoulder.

"Hunk, you owe me twenty bucks! I told you they totally had the hots for each other!" Pidge yelled through the phone.

Hunk groaned as he realized that Pidge was right. "C'mon buddy, I had more faith in you than this." Hunk said, slightly disappointed at the fact he lost twenty bucks, but still happy that his friend was happy.

"I'm sorry?...." Lance offered, not exactly knowing how it was his fault. "Next, maybe don't bet on my love life?"

"I was actually betting on your seething hatred you had about a week ago, but apparently that was fleeting after twelve years." Hunk said back.

"You know, actual sleep and cuddles work wonders for petty feuds." Lance said with a shrug and he leaned back into Keith's chest.

"I have to go you know." Keith said, turning slightly so he could look at Lance.

"Do you really? How long does it take to set up a date?" He whined back, not wanting his pillow to leave.

"Memorable is what we're aiming for here. It'll take a little while." Keith said with a shrug.

"Or you could scrap that idea and just cuddle all day?" Lance said with puppy dog eyes.

"You two are sickening. Can't you burn down another theater and be done with it?" Pidge asked, but secretly shipping it with their entire small being.

"Shush Pidge, we both know you've had Klance shirts made since freshman year." Hunk teased.

Their face lit up. "Oh my god, I forgot about those!" They cheered, quickly going to their closet and digging through it to find the shirts.

"I'm sorry, you've had what since freshman year?" Lance asked in slight fear.

"Sh," Pidge said, making a shooing motion with their hand. "Go back to being sickening."

"Okay, for real this time. I have to leave." Keith said, pulling his head back to try and leave, but Lance held on to him.

"Why?" He whined, not even wanting a date that bad. He just wanted to spend time with Keith.

"Lance, I have like two hours. It won't even take that long, but I want to get it set up before I run out of time." Keith reasoned.

"What am I supposed to do while you're gone though?" He asked. He'd be completely bored, seeing as Shiro and Adam were both out grocery shopping. Lance was starting to think Adam was really close to just moving in.

"You could hang out with Pidge and Hunk. Or you could, I don't know, maybe, you know, try to talk to Allura?" Keith said, wincing at the end when Lance's face turned to a glare.

"WELP, I'm just gonna go. Have fun with that Keith!" Pidge said just before disconnecting from the call.

"Yeah, I'm gonna go to. Text me if you need help hiding the body." Hunk said, hanging up to.

"C'mon Lance, don't be mad. You know you're gonna have to talk to her at some point." Keith said, their roles now reversed as he held onto Lance, preventing him from storming off.

"Yeah because talk to her went so well last time." Lance said back, sounding more than peeved at the suggestion.

"She's just worried about you! Are you seriously going to sit here and tell me you wouldn't have done the exact same thing if she was the one getting little to no sleep? Knowing how overprotective and caring you are, you would have already told Coran about it." Keith said, trying to get Lance to see it from Allura's perspective.

Lance glared at the wall as he realized that Keith was right.

Keith ruffled his hair, letting him finally get up. "Don't pout just because you know I'm right. You're gonna be doing an awful lot of pouting then." He teased trying to lighten the mood.

Lance stuck his tongue out at him in a childish manner, earning a laugh in return. He was grumbling to himself as he walked around the room putting clean clothes on.

"Where're you going?" Keith asked with a knowing smirk.

"See Allura you asshole." Lance snapped back.

"Why're you talking about my ass McClain?" Keith asked, finally being the one to push Lance's buttons.

"Go set up a date or something!" Lance said while walking out of the room.

"How're you planning on get there?" Keith yelled down the stairs.

"Fuck you, just hurry up!" Lance yelled back, already out the door and heading to Keith's jeep.

"You're so moody." Keith said, still teasing the other boy.

"Keith please, just drive the damn car." Lance said with an exhausted sigh.

"Roger that." Keith said, pretty proud that he had turn the tables on Lance for once.

"I'll pick you up here in like an hour?" Keith asked as he put the car into park outside Allura's house.

"If I don't end up getting pissed off and storming out of the house, then yes." Lance said with a sweet smile.

Keith let out a breath of air and grabbed Lance's hand. "Just remember that she's your best friend and she's worried. Fear makes people do things they regret." He said softly placing a kiss on Lance's hand.

"Stop being so mushy Kogane, it's unsettling." Lance said back with a appreciative smile. He was more than thankful that Keith was trying to steady his nerves.

"I am not mushy! Now get out of my car so I can set up a romantic date straight out of a rom com." Keith said back, a smile briefly flashing across his face.

"God, you're so gay." Lance said with a laugh while getting out of the car.

"That's kind of the point." Keith called after him.

Lance walked up to the front door while Keith drove away, both with smiles on their faces. His own heart rate picked up as he made it to the door, trying to find the will to knock. It took him a few seconds, but he eventually did, using the knock that only Allura and him used.

After about twenty seconds the sound of running feet could be heard from the other side of the door. It was thrown open and a small body collided with his own.

"Please don't be mad at me anymore. I'm sorry I told everyone that you weren't sleep, I just wanted you to realize how serious it was. I can see what it's doing to your health and it scares me. Just please, please, please, don't be mad at me." Allura said as her arms were wrapped tightly around him and her face was buried into his chest.

Lance let his own arms travel around her shoulders and pull her close to him, missing his best friend. "I can't say I'm not mad, but I get why you did it and I can't really blame you. I would have done the same thing." He said with a sigh.

"So you're still mad?" She asked, lifting her head to look up at him.

"Yeah I'm still mad, but I don't want to fight anymore." Lance said for clarification.

"So... we're good?" Allura asked hesitantly.

"Yeah, we're good." He said with a smile.

"Oh thank god, I was going crazy without you around." Allura said pulling Lance into the house and leading them to the kitchen. She needed some tea. Two different kinds of tea.

She got to work on the beverage and caught sight of Lance smiling at his phone.

Keith~
Did you storm out yet?

Lance~
Nope, we're all good now :)

Keith~
I'd told you it'd be fine. See you in an hour

"Who ya texting?" Allura asked with a smirk. She doesn't talk to her best friend for four days and suddenly he had a love interest.

"Um, yeah about that. You've missed a lot." Lance said with an embarrassed smile.

Allura groaned and threw her head back. "Lance! It wasn't even a week! Now spill. Who're you texting?" She asked, grabbing the two cups and of tea and sitting at the counter with Lance.

He took the cup he was handed and stared at it like it was the most interesting thing. "It might have been... Keith? And we might be going on a date tonight? And we might have made out at a lazar tag game on Friday?" Lance offered up, not sounding confident in any of his story.

Allura stared blankly at him, trying to process everything she had just been told. It was a little hard for her to believe. "Are you- are you being serious right now?" She asked, still shell shocked.

Lance let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding while he was waiting for her to say something. "Look, I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. This past week, with me staying with him, we've been forced to actually hang out. It would be exhausting if we just fought the whole time, so we've been... oddly civil? After Tuesday, when I stayed home, he helped me with a panic attack and then let me sleep on his freaking chest Llura! And when I inevitably woke up from a nightmare, he helped me calm down and even got me back to sleep. I went back to sleep after a nightmare! And ever since then, he's helped me sleep every night. And I've got to see this other side of him, past all the defensive bull shit he puts up. He's caring, and calming, and he's even helping me with chemistry! I just... I really like him...." Lance finished, trying to justify the huge crush he now had on the boy he claimed to hate a week ago.

Allura took a deep breath when she realized that Lance was actually worried she would be happy for him. "Lance, that sounds amazing." She said with a smile, making him perk up. "I'm just glad you guys got past your bickering and if you're happy with him, that's really all that matters." She said.

"Oh thank god, I was worried you'd be mad." He said, taking deep breaths.

"Why would I be mad? Because he has a track record of hurting you and pissing you off? Pff, no." She said, brushing the thought away with a wave of her hand.

"Okay, but it's different now." Lance said, worried again.

She let out a light laugh. "I know Lance, I was joking. I'm sure Keith is a great guy when you aren't drenching his locker with glue." She teased.

Lance winced at the memory. "Yeah, I should probably buy him a new jacket for that."

"Yeah, probably."
