You looked downward as water collected into hands. Once the water filled your palms, you splashed it into your face.

It was early morning and you were washing up before starting the day.

You stepped out of the bathroom and walked through the hallway, drying your face with a towel. You entered your room and hung up your towel. Your room was modestly decorated with a bed fit for two. 

You walked over to the window and saw her outside.

Nemona, your rival for life. After 10 years, she remained tenacious and battle centric. And being rivals for life, she even lived in the same house as you so she could readily battle you.

She was waiting outside for the usual morning battle. You saw a few of her Pokemon out of their balls, stretching and getting ready for the upcoming battle.

Getting dressed and grabbing your Poke balls, you headed out the door and outside.

With Nemona being dead set on being your rival for life, she made sure there was a proper arena outside the house.

She waved to you which you returned and you walked to your end of the arena as she returned her Pokemon back to their balls.

"This would be a lot easier if you just give up." You shouted as you stretched your shoulder.

For the past week, the morning battles had a special wager, one which you hoped to win.

Nemona smiled and shook her head. "You know I'm not going to stop until you say yes."

Needless to say, neither of you were backing down.

"Then let's settle everything." You stated as you held up a Poke ball.

You sent out your first Pokémon...then your second and eventually your third. 

The battle was back and forth. As rivals for life, you knew Nemona so well, how she would fight and react. Unfortunately, the same could be said with you as she countered and matched you perfectly.

Finally, you and Nemona were both down to the last Pokémon.

You tossed your last Poke ball letting your ace out, Koraidon, or Korai as you nicknamed. 

It was with you since the start of your journey.

Nemona smiled as she threw her Poke ball letting her ace out, Koraidon, or Kori as she nicknamed. 

It was the Koraidon that stood against you and your friends in Area Zero. The one that bullied had your Koraidon.  Wanting to be true rivals with you, Nemona caught it and trained it. It took a lot of effort in taming it, but being your rival for life, she succeeded.

"Dragon Claw!" You called.

"Brick Break!" Nemona countered.

Both Koraidon's attacks collided with each other and locked, with neither Koraidon overpowering the other.

"Breaking Swipe." Nemona called. Kori's tail swept around hitting Korai in the side and sending it flying, though Korai was quick on the recovery, grinding its claws into the dirt to stop itself.

Capitalizing on the opportunity, Nemona called out "Giga Impact".

But being her rival for life, you predicted this. It was part of a one-two combo that you knew she favored. Thus, you trained and prepared for follow-ups such as this.

"Jump!" You shouted as your Tera orb started to glow.

Korai, being well practiced in this maneuver, jumped up in the air with ferocious strength and speed. Kori was surprised as it missed and sped past, and now had its back to its opponent.  

While Korai was still in the air, you tossed your tera orb, Terastallizing Korai into a dragon type.

Nemona could already tell what was coming next. She knew there was no way Kori could evade your attack.

"Bulk Up!" She yelled. 

"Tera Blast!" You roared. 

Korai unleashed a dragon powered beam, hitting Kori in the back, creating an small explosion.

However, Kori stood defiantly. Through 'Bulk Up' and Nemona's training, that attack which once bested it, could now be endured and overcome. It was not without damage though and Nemona knew she had to end it now.

"Use everything you've got Kori! Giga Impact!"

Glowing with energy, Kori jumped and was now in a direct line to an airborne Korai.

You knew another Tera Blast wouldn't be enough to stop it. And Korai was still midair with no way to dodge. 

Taking one of Nemona's tips, when left with no other option, attack.

"Collision Course!" 

Korai spun with hot energy. Using terminal velocity to enhance its attack, Korai aimed towards an ever nearer Kori.

The conflicting attacks blinded you with a dazzling explosion. You covered your eyes to protect from the dust as you heard an resounding thud on the ground. 

It took a few moments for the smoke to clear. And the winner to this week-long struggle to make itself known.

Both Koraidons were unconscious in a small crater.

Being rivals for life, stalemates were a constant issue.

You and Nemona groaned at yet another draw.

"Mama? Papa?"

"Urk!" You and Nemona flinched.

You and Nemona looked to see a little girl step outside from the house. She was rubbing her eyes as she walked towards Nemona.

"I heard a big boom."

Nemona quickly walked over, picking up the girl in her arms. And you started walking towards them.

"Sorry sweetheart, Mama and Papa were battling."

The girl became excited and giddy. "I wanna battle too!" 

Nemona laughed as she nuzzled her daughter's cheek. She loved that her daughter inherited her thrill for battle.

"Later sweetheart. First..." Nemona then winked at you before looking at her daughter. 

"Papa is taking you to the Poke Park." 

The girl became even more excited as she looked at you. "Poke Park! Yay!"

The reason why you and Nemona were battling. There were only two tickets to the Poke Park and your daughter would obviously get one ticket. But both you and Nemona wanted to go so for the past week, there had been constant battles to decide who got to go.

You laughed as you took Nemona's side, helping her hold up your daughter.

"Thank you Mama."

You then smiled as you gave your daughter a kiss on the forehead before giving Nemona a kiss on the cheek.

Nemona was your rival for life and you couldn't be any happier.
