The Scarf ~ Story 3 ~ Part 2
After playing around like a little child in the snow for a while, I decided to head out for school. Unfortunately for me the snow was no excuse for missing school so no snow day for me.
The path didn't have any footprints which meant no one had walked this way yet.
"Yes!" I cheered "I get the first prints of the snow!" I started skipping. I looked like an idiot but I didn't care even the slightest.
Suddenly I heard a voice behind me.
"Not if I make them first!" I turned and saw a boy running towards me. He had messy bed hair and the zipper on his coat was halfway up which I guessed meant he was in a hurry to play in the snow too. I smiled and nodded at his challenge. The kid looked slightly familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"You're on!" I shouted as he caught up with me. Before I knew it we were in racing positions counting down.
"3...2...1 GO!!" And we were off racing down the path trying to reach the steps where the snow ended. I was winning at first but a snowball brushed past my cheek and as I turned around the boy raced ahead.
"Cheat!" I shouted, trying to catch up but ultimately failing in the end.
"I win!" He chuckled. I made a face at him and pouted but he just laughed it off. We both sat down on the ice cold marble steps to take a breath. I took my scarf off so I could breathe properly. His eyes widened when he saw the scarf.
"Hey I had a scarf just like that once!" He said taking the scarf out of my hands. "But I gave it to someone and haven't seen it since." He added. I looked at him stunned. Could he be? No way! Unless... There's a slight chance.
"Can I ask you something?" I said walking beside him. He shrugged and then nodded his head. "Did you give away that scarf a long time ago, when you were 9 years old maybe?" He looked at me, his eyes widened in shock.
"H...how did you know?!" He stuttered. I grinned widely. So it was him. I took his wrist and pulled up his coat sleeve revealing the wristband I'd given him that memorable day.
He looked uneasy by my actions but I didn't notice.
"Fujioka Maki," I breathed happily.
"How do you know my name?! Wh....Who are you?!" He almost yelled. I never once dropped my smile.
"You mean you don't remember? Oh, I'm just the owner of that wristband..." I smirked.
" (l/n) (f/n)?" He gasped. I nodded.
Suddenly he took my hands and looked into my (e/c) eyes. Before I could blink I was being pulled into a huge, tight hug.
"Yes! I finally found you!" He cheered as if he'd won a prize. He was practically choking me.
"Le....let...g..go...can't...breathe.." I huffed. He quickly let go and I took a huge breath before laughing. "Thanks for remembering," he smiled.
"I wanted to return your wristband," he said "but I couldn't find you." I replied with 'same'.
He handed it back to me but I pushed his hand back (déjà vu much?) "Keep it, as a reminder of me!" I sniggered. He laughed and hugged me again.
"Oh man I don't want to ever let go!" As he said that my eyes opened wide. A blush crept onto my cheeks.
"Wh...what?" I mumbled. My blush increased rather than disappearing.
"Uh...well.." He was embarrassed. I laughed. "Well I don't take back what I said. I really don't want to let you go because, because I love you." My whole face turned crimson. "I thought it was a stupid childhood crush that'd disappear in a couple of days but I guess I was wrong." He let go of me and stared into my eyes.
My face was burning up. He slowly cupped my cheeks in his hands never losing eye contact with me.
'What's he going to do?!' I panicked inside my head. 'Don't tell me he's gonna...' Slowly but surely it was happening. Our faces were moving closer and closer. My mind was racing the space between us was shrinking and shrinking until...
"Hey (y/n) there you are!" My best friend Naomi ran up to us. I quickly pushed him away, the both of us blushing. "What are you two doing?! And who's this?" She squealed, obviously seeing what we were doing.
"This is Fujioka Maki, an old friend..." I began but Maki butted in cheering,
"And now boyfriend!" Naomi gasped and gave me a surprised look but I just nodded.
"Well we have to get to school now, you can fool around after. You owe me a cupcake for not waiting for me at the bus stop!" I groaned but got out my money anyway.
"I'll meet you back here after school, ok (f/n)?" I shrugged and turned away. All of a sudden he pecked me on the cheek and I turned around blushing.
"Face me when I talk to you or I might disappear like last time!" He laughed and ran off. I just stood there cupping my cheek while Naomi laughed like a maniac.
"There's no way I'm losing you again!" I shouted and with that I could finally get rid of that annoying feeling in me. I'd found what I was looking for. The owner of my 'memory scarf'.
