Music was part of Julias life. Anyone who knew her knew that she always had a pencil out, trying to write her own song but then giving in and just doing a cover on her guitar.

In truth she really was a good singer, who posted her recording of herself singing frequently. This love had come from Julias grandmother, an opera singer in her youth for a short time. With Granma now gone, Julianne felt she needed to honor her Granma Brooks.

Her brothers on the other hand where basketball basketball basketball, all the time. Naturally Julia knew how to play, but never took interest like her father hoped she would.

Soon it was Monday morning and Juls was missing the weekend, but got in Nics truck just the same at 7:45 to head off to school.

She stiffled a yawn as she clicked her seatbelt, mimicking her older brother. "What time did Mom and Dad get home last night?"

"About- 11 i think? Maybe it was closer to twelve." Nic replied in a bored tone, concentrating on backing out of the garage. "Apparently Ace has a girlfriend down at Trenton and Mom got all chatty. Oh but we are going down there Friday."

"We are?" Julia asked, resting her elbow on the window ledge, watching her brother. "What for? We saw Ace like, 2 Sundays ago."

"Yea theres this big game, that Ace got us tickets for on Friday. At least thats what Dad told me this morning." Nic flatlined, looking over the hood of the truck as not to run over the curb upon entering the parking lot. "Should be fun."

"Yea." Juls responded, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the door after Nic stopped. "Bye Nic."

"Seeya Juls." Nic called after his sister, but she was already gone towards the school.

Julia huddled her hands together in her pockets, looking around the parking lot for Theas blue car, seeing it on the other side of the lot. Julia watched as her friend got out and locked the car, waving to Julia from the other side of the parking lot, her breath coming in small puffs.

Once inside the school Julia ran over to where Calum and Thea stood talking, Calum in his basketball hoodie and Thea in dark jeans and a red-orange sweater. "Hey Az." Cal said, running a hand through his hair and watching her as she came up.

"Az" was short for Azul, an old childhood nickname meaning blue in Spanish, Julias favorite color.

"Hi Cal." Julia nodded back, adjusting her backpack strap across her shoulder. "So what's up guys?"

Thea giggled, glancing at Cal. "Well Mr. Sore-Loser over here is still upset about Friday, and he's planning on asking-"

Cal shot her a glare, clearly saying shut up or i will hurt you, and Thea paused, going back to Julia. Who barely noticed this little interaction. Thea nodded slowly and continued. "On asking.... about Ace and how he's doing at college."

Julia thought this was a weird question, and watched as her friends expressions where unreadable when they shared yet another look. Cal looked either very relieved or severely embarrassed. One of the two.

"Welll-" Juls drawled, still a tad confused. "He's good. We're going down to see him this weekend for a big game he's playing in."

Cal nodded happily, a grin on his face as he slapped Julia on the shoulder, and he spoke in a deep southern accent. "Well ain't that fun!"

Both girls gave Calum an eye roll, but he just laughed. "Cal you are so weird." Thea says, tucking a piece of curly hair behind her ear, suddenly looking up. Her gaze went across the commons to where a boy sat with a book in his lap, a dark green beanie over his raven colored hair.

"I...." Thea started, watching the boy and simultaneously tapping Julia on the shoulder. "I gotta go. I'll see you in Bio, ok?" Thea walked away, and Julia raised her eyebrows when she saw her friend sit down next to the boy and start talking, laughing at something he said. He returned her laugh with a smile that shone even across the room.

"Whos that?" Julia asked, sensing Cal come up behind her to watch Thea and the Book Boy.

"I think his name is Oliver something-" Cal mumbled quietly, thinking. Julia tore her gaze away from Thea and Book Boy and walked with Calum down the soon to be crowded hall to the science hall. Suddenly he snapped his fingers and grinned. "Manning! Oliver Manning. He asked was here on Saturday during practice and asked if he could walk around the track without disturbing practice. He's Australian, pretty nice. New here."

"Really?" Julia hummed a response and the bell rang, Freshman rushing past to get to class, Seniors taking their time. Fellow Juniors just joining the halls.

"But since theres no more SEASON-" Cal started, raising his voice angrily when he said season, waving his hand above his head for effect. "Practice doesn't MATTER-"

Julia giggled and elbow med him softly. "Calm down Calum-"

"I most certainly will not." He joked with mock affront, smiling. "We lost the first game to Atlas of all people! I'll be lucky if i can even show my face next game."

Julia laughed and followed Cal into their Bio class, sitting at the back doubles table. "You'll be fine, Mr. Over-Dramatic."

He groaned under his breath and slid his red backpack under the stool, resting his elbows on the lab counter top.

The bell rang, and right then Thea walked in and sat down at the table across the asile from Cal and Julia . She was blushing a little, and tried to hide her shy smile with her long dark hair.

Julianne gawked through a grin and turned to Calum as Mr. Barker got up to the chalkboard and started to explain the day's assignments. Cal shared Julias look.

"So what happened?!" Juls whispered excitedly, leaning on her elbows watching Thea attempt not to smile again.

"Nothing." Thea mumbled back, grinning again behind her Bio book, trying to focus.

"T!" Julia giggled softly, Calum leaning closer to her from his side of the table to get closer to Thea.

"I'll tell you after!" Thea whisper hissed back behind her hand, meekly smiling once back over her Bio notes.
