✴️ 8 - Challenge ✴️

Another brand new day has started, and currently, Duri— with his best friend, Solar— were making their way to school together. As they were walking, the leaf and light elemental brothers were happily chatting with one another, just enjoying each other's company before they separated their ways as soon as their classes start.

At this moment, Duri was trying out his half-brother's orange tinted visor, as he also tried his best to imitate his friend's cool-looking gestures. Solar on the other hand, only found his close friend cute rather than cool, which made him chortle from his friend's adorable actions.

"You know Duri, you don't have to be like me," The famed alchemist stated, curving a gentle smile on his lips. "You're already cool the way you are." He added, his exposed gray eyes smiling at his nature elemental friend.

"I know," Duri chirped, grinning adorably at his half-brother. "Though I was about to say the same thing to you." He said, causing Solar to become silent.

"The reason why I became friends with you it's because, it's not about you being cool, popular, smart and all but," The leaf element gave him a genuine smile. "Because I've seen more to you than that. You're nice, even though you barely show it to other people. You're also caring; remember that time you saved me from the bullies?" He asked, earning a slight nod from his best friend.

"And you're strong, Solar." Duri remarked. "You've remain strong all these years, even that time when we hadn't met yet from the past." He softly said, taking off the visor from his eyes and put them on his friend's, smiling warmly at him afterwards.

"And I'm proud of you, Solar, as your best friend, and as your brother."

Solar remained quiet after hearing those things that his friend just said. He stared at him, his gray, glistening eyes open widely. Without him knowing, few of his tears escaped from his eyes, as he felt his heart squeezed from the inside.

The leaf manipulator panicked the moment he saw his best friend teares up, with a worried look plastered on his face. "E-Eh!? W-Why are you crying!? Is it something from what I said!? Solar! Please don't cry! You're making me cry!" He whined, his body started trembling in fear.

Without warning, the light elemental pulled him into an embrace, hugging his concerned friend tightly and wholeheartedly. He buried his face on his friend's shoulder, sniffling afterwards. Duri was surprised from his sudden action at first, but has managed to calm down after a few seconds and gently returned the hug.

"I'm fine, Duri, don't worry... It's just..." Solar paused as he loosened the hug a bit and looked at him. "What did I do to deserve a friend like you...?"

"To be honest, I was asking the same thing." The green-eyed boy stated, as he let out a light chuckle then smiled softly afterwards. "But, I never really question it that much. Instead, what I do is, treasuring every moments I have with you." He added.

"Just so I could look back at those memories again and cherish it with all of my heart, until my life has finally come to an end."

"Duri..." The well-known alchemist pulled his friend once more for a warm hug, letting out a shaky breath afterwards. "I don't know what to say..."

"You don't have to, Solar." Duri gave him a sad but sincere smile, his nature-coloured eyes gazing directly at him.

"You, being here with me, is already enough for me."

"You're smiling like an idiot right now," The popular lightning elemental remarked, his ruby red eyes fixed at the rubix cube in hand while also glancing at his rivalry-friend from time to time. "I have a gut feeling that something had happened that made you smile creepily like that."

"Oh shut up, you snoopy tsunderehead." Solar snapped, looking at the timer from his phone that he's holding. "Go and focus on finishing that cube." He added, huffing afterwards.

Halilintar snorted at him, before raising up the finished rubix cube from his hand. "Done." He stated, with the light element stopping the timer at the same time.

"26.25 seconds," The well-known alchemist said, grinning. "Not bad." He commented, chuckling slightly afterwards.

"Tch, you finished that for more than twenty seconds?" The new student smirked. "Weak."

"Please don't tell me that poetic wacko's SPECS subject is also Electrical..." Solar muttered, his teeth clenched tightly in annoyance.

"Guess we're classmates for Specialization subject as well." Supra stated, as he grinned in a smugly way. "Oh, and by the way, I can finish that cube for less than ten seconds."

The famous badboy only rolled his eyes from his response. "Show off. Just leave us alone." He hissed, glaring menacingly at their new rival.

"You don't believe me?" The transferee asked, raising a brow at Halilintar's direction. "Give me the cube and I can beat that record of yours." He proudly said, smirking once again.

The lightning elemental scoffed before randomly shuffling the rubix cube then handed it to their rival. "That's impossible. Nobody can finish a rubix cube for only a few seconds—"

"Finished!" Supra exclaimed, smashing the completed rubix cube ontop of Halilintar's desk afterwards.

The latter blinked a few times in disbelief, frowning while looking up at their new competitor. "How did you—"

"Heh, you guys are too judgemental. You don't know what I'm capable of." Supra smugly grinned at them before passing by, leaving a fuming Halilintar and a shocked Solar.

Meanwhile, Gempa, along with the student government officers, as well as Glasier, were giving opinions about how they'll improve their school more. Each of them were suggesting new activities, plans and events, making their school year more enjoyable and interesting since they're about to graduate and they also wanted to make their school year more memorable.

But as they were discussing about that matter, every suggestion Gempa's trying to give to them, the new student government president would immediately reject them.

"You're only the secretary, while I'm the president. I'll get to decide what I think is the best." Glasier sternly informed, while eyeing the earth elemental with a scowl. "So, if you don't have any important things to say—"

"But I was giving—"

"Don't you remember our rule, Mr. Secretary?" The president asked, his teeth clenched tightly in irritation. "If you don't, I have the right to kick you off from being our student government secretary."

Gempa sighed in exasperation, staring at him with a deep frown plastered on his face. "I know the rules."

"Then act like what a secretary should, and must do!" Glasier strictly reprimanded, turning his attention back to his subordinates.

The demoted student government secretary couldn't do anything but to stay silent instead. He heaved a deep, long sigh before getting his pen and started scribbling the suggestions given by the other officers.

"What have I got myself into...?"

"Are you sure you want to retire from being a football varsity player?" Blaze asked, glancing at his varsity pal with a concern look.

"Well, I wanna try something new this year. I can't just stick with the same thing every time." Taufan replied, his cyan-blue eyes wandering around the papers pasted on the board while smiling warmly. "Plus, we're about to graduate, and I want to end it with an exciting experience."

"Same here!" Duri exclaimed, giggling afterwards.

It was their recess break and presently, the three elemental teenagers were finding some interesting reminders from the bulletin board located in the lobby. It's been a few minutes ever since they're searching for a topic that would caught their attention.

But, it didn't take long before they found something intriguing, making them glance at each other and grinned widely.

The three of them immediately rushed towards the gym where the sign-up form is. A few moments later, they finally made it to the said destination, making their way up the stage afterwards. They were excited to join the varsity mentioned, with cheeky smiles plastered on their faces.

Until, they saw someone they'd never expected to see, causing their once joyful smiles to drop.

"Oh my, you guys are here too..." The figure uttered, his eyes glancing at each one of them before turning his attention at the fire element. "Especially you. Fancy seeing you here, you idiotic dumbo." He added, smirking.

"How dare you call me a—"

The wind and leaf elemental became alarmed and quickly held their raving friend, stopped him from starting a commotion. "Blaze, don't!" They both said in sync.

The raging teen grunted, his flaming crimson eyes glaring at his rival. "I'll get my revenge on you, Rose Ties!" He barked, pulling his arms from his friends' grip then formed his hands into fists.

"Whatever, dummy." Frostfire huffed, rolling his eyes afterwards. "And signing up for the dance varsity, I see?" He noticed, before his lips curved into a impish grin. "I bet I dance more better than the three of you."

"Tch! Are you challenging us?" The fire elemental growled, his eyes narrowed directly at his annoying competitor.

"Heh, can't wait to beat you guys for it."

Taufan crossed his arms on his chest, as he stared intensely at Frostfire. Blaze scoffed, putting his hands on his waist, whilst Duri pursed his lips while looking at their rival, with his brows furrowed.

"Fine, then let the challenge begin."
