Often ridiculed for its constant attempts at wizardry, Von Spectre began life as an innocuous magician, wanting only to please the crowds with its skill at conducting the arts. However, when Pokemon began to move on, no longer interested in its "parlor tricks," Von Spectre flew into a rage, and it began creating much more powerful, corrosive, and dangerous spells to master. It decided to call this new spellbook the Dark Arts- a piece of literature so vile that anyone who gazes on its pages is corrupted beyond repair. Von Spectre is perhaps the most vile of the Ghosts, besides maybe its master, Darkrai, as it shows even less emotion than Dusknoir, and it is overjoyed to see suffering of all kinds, "in recompense for all the rejection that this pitiful world gave [him]."
