Jake the Eevee was abducted as part of Giovanni's Hybrid Experiment. Attempting to avoid becoming the same as the other failed experiments before him, Jake tries to escape his fate, but to no avail- he is then combined with both of his parents to create Giovanni's ultimate masterpiece, later dubbed the Equilibrium Pokemon. As a "hybrid" Pokemon, Voltflare is able to use both fire and electricity equally well, but he still retains some of his traits from when he was an Eevee. He is quite compassionate, and, despite his extraordinary powers, he would rather avoid a confrontation if he can help it. Yet, he still is quite the force to be reckoned with in battle, being able to boast feats like having the firepower to defeat Nathan's Metagross in a single hit with Fire Blast. Another odd quirk about Voltflare is that his Hidden Power is of the Ice-type.
