Raven lay on the ground, panting. Red stood by her loyally, licking her shoulder. The black she cat's eyes sparked in pain, and she let out a yowl. In a pool of blood, the first kit slid out, a dark tabby tom slid out. He let out a weak mew as his mother pushed him towards her belly to suckle, and Red licked him vigorously. Raven lay panting, staring at her new son, she opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted.
With another yowl through gritted teeth, a black she cat with a white heart shaped spot on her head and white paws slid out. She was a feisty one, she wiggled around, tripping on her tiny paws and her mother's tail. Red gently pushed her towards her mother, where she happily began to suckle. The moonlight filtered through the woven branches that made up the roof of their spacious den. The stars glinted teasingly between the fluttering birch leaves.
"Branch," Raven whispered, nudging the tiny tom. He worked closer, snuggling into her warm fur, black as night. Red nodded his head in agreement, giving the tabby an affectionate lick.
"And Heart," Red said softly nodding at the black she cat. Heart stumbled around, mewing happily. The two mates stared down lovingly down at their kits, purring. Suddenly, Raven convulsed, racking in pain. She yowled, and a small kit slid out, light grey with a dark, crescent moon shape on her back. The mother, panting, pushed her closer to her belly. The smaller kit was mewling, kneading her tiny paws. Soon, she found the teat and latched on. The happy parents purred, satisfied with their new kits.
     "What should we call her?" Red inquired softly. Raven tilted her head in thought, staring at the tiny grey kit, illuminated in the bright moonlight that peeked in.
      "Moon," Raven whispered. "We shall call her Moon," the tiny kit mewed happily. Moon, she thought. I'm Moon.
