Finales
3rd Person POV
Thor and Loki had gone off to steal one of the Grandmaster's ships while Valkyrie had gone to initiate the revolution among the gladiators and Bruce and Ash were in the hangar where Valkyrie kept her ship, the Warsong, waiting for her to come back as Ash paced in front of the ship while Bruce sat on the ramp that led up to the ship when he asked,
"How did you end up on this planet anyway?"
Ash hesitated and stopped pacing before answering,
"A lot happened back on Earth after you... left... so much changed to where... I let my anger and doubt take control of me and it led me to act impulsively to where I flew and crashed a ship into the Bermuda Triangle and I don't even know if Xay survived since he didn't get transported here with me..." Ash trailed off to stop herself from going into a panicked rant.
"Thor mentioned earlier that we had a fight... were you there too?"
"Yes..."
"Oh my..." Bruce put his hands on his face in what seemed mostly like shame before Ash was quick to assure him,
"Don't worry, 'you' didn't hurt me, if anything I'm the one who should be sorry since I hurt you more while I was in Tayen-mode again..."
Bruce looked confused and was about to voice his questions when Ash saw his expression and answered,
"Time works differently on this planet and when I arrived here a year ago I aged backward by three years."
"Only makes me question everything about this place even more but OK..."
"When we get back to Earth, what are we gonna do?" Ash asked earnestly as she went to sit down next to him.
"Well..." Bruce thought for a moment before admitting, "Y'know... I have no idea... we'll figure it out when we get there."
"Well one thing's for sure... I don't wanna lose you again..."
"You won't..."
"Let's not jinx it..." Ash chuckled a bit ruefully as she leaned her head on his shoulder and he placed a hand on the side of her head.
"Oye!" Valkyrie's sharp voice startled them and ruined the moment as she announced, "Let's go, we gotta rendezvous with them as soon as they nick the ship."
"Go go." Ash muttered as she and Bruce got up and strapped themselves into the seats as Valkyrie got in the pilot's seat and launched the Warsong into the air and flew through the air over the city until they caught up with a disc-looking ship that had several other aircrafts surrounding it.
"You got anything to deal with them?" Ash asked Valkyrie and she responded by sending her a smirk before flicking up a cover to reveal a red button on the steering wheel and pressing it to send a few laser blasts to the ships that were following Thor and blowing them up.
"Nice shot!" Bruce told her and she responded with a quick,
"Thanks."
Maneuvering her ship so it was under the other ship Valkyrie spoke over the comms to Thor,
"Open the doors."
Before two underside doors on the underbelly of the ship opened and Valkyrie opened up the cover to her ship before yelling over the wind to her passengers, Bruce in particular,
"I hope that you're tougher than you look!"
"Why?!"
Before she pressed a button to make his seat eject up toward the open doors to where he, more or less, landed within the ship, almost slipping back out if he hadn't caught himself.
"You're next!" Valkyrie was about to press another button when Ash yelled,
"No need! I got this!"
Powering up one of her gauntlets, she aimed it at the edge of the open doors with a fist before making her hand go open and flat to shoot a grappling line to grab onto the edge.
After giving Valkyrie a two-finger salute, she made a fist again to activate the reeling mechanism and was pulled up through the air to the ship and front flipped over the edge, landing in a crouch similar to Nat's landing pose.
"Nice landing!"
"Thanks!"
The ship was suddenly rocked as it was hit by a laser projectile, almost making Ash fall back out through the still-open doors if Thor hadn't pushed the button to quickly close them and Ash fell on her face instead of out the ship.
"I'm good..." Ash raised a hand to give them a thumbs-up as she picked herself up and walked over to the captain's seat where Thor sat and Bruce was standing behind him and she caught Thor muttering 'like father, like daughter' before another shock rattled the ship and Bruce questioned in panic,
"Shouldn't we be shooting back or something?!"
"Yes, we should." Thor responded before asking Valkyrie over the comms, "Where are the guns on this ship?"
*There aren't any.*
Came her response making the three of them exclaim,
"WHAT?!"
Before she explained,
*It's a leisure vessel. Grandmaster uses it for his good times, orgies and stuff.*
"Did she just say the Grandmaster uses it for orgies?" Bruce questioned, hoping he had misheard.
"Yeah. Don't touch anything." Thor grimaced in disgust as Ash was retching slightly as she started thinking too hard about what had potentially been on the floor she just face planted on.
Their attention shifted when they saw that the main ship had fired and landed a critical hit on the Warsong before another projectile was fired and it blew the Warsong up.
"No!" The three shouted in disbelief before what looked like a piece of shrapnel came flying towards them only to reveal it was actually Valkyrie and she landed on the side of the front window, grabbing onto the edge of the frame to keep from fully falling.
"Ha!"
"Get inside!" Thor yelled to her but she yelled back,
"In a minute!" Before climbing to the top of the ship and they heard her running footsteps on the ceiling and they looked out the rearview window to see she had leaped onto the top of another Sakaaran ship that was pursuing them and she completely decimated it with her bare hands.
There was a moment of stunned, impressed silence before Thor spoke up,
"I should probably go and help." Moving out of the pilot's seat and pushing Bruce into it as he told him, "Here, take the wheel."
"No. I don't know how to fly one of these." He tried to protest but still ended up in the pilot's seat as Thor told him,
"You're a scientist. Use one of your PhDs."
"None of them are for flying alien spaceships!" Bruce tried to argue back but Thor was already gone before he could hand the controls back over to him as he dropped out of the ship to help Valkyrie in destroying their pursuers.
"I don't suppose you know how to fly one of these things?" Bruce asked Ash with a bit of desperation in his voice as he maneuvered the steering wheel a bit.
"I crashed an aircraft into the Bermuda Triangle and never got out of the fighting ring much to learn about Sakaaran tech." Ash reminded him before shrugging just as another shock shook the ship and she grabbed onto the seat to keep from falling before she suggested,
"What if I got on the top of the ship and acted as its fire shooter?"
"Absolutely not." He told her a bit too harshly.
"But I could-"
"No, you've already been an unwilling gladiator for the last few years, the last thing I want you to do is to become a weapon of any kind even for now."
This made Ash look at him in conflicted confusion as she wanted to help them get out of this situation but she had already compromised the morals she had been brought up on before and she didn't want to again if she could help it.
"How 'bout you sit down and help me figure this thing out instead." Bruce suggested more gently and Ash nodded hesitantly, putting her staff to the side so she could sit in the co-pilot seat and strap herself in just in time as he steered the ship to swerve to the side to dodge an incoming projectile.
When she looked through the back window, she saw the ship that was closing in on them was Topaz's ship.
"There has to be some function this ship has that we could work to our advantage." Ash spoke as she scanned over all the buttons and levers on the dashboard while surveying the terrain ahead of them.
"This looks like a gun." Bruce pointed to a large button that had an icon of an explosion, but before Ash could comment her doubt, he pushed it and the lights of the ship changed to a disco-esque theme as music blasted through the speakers and a mini hologram of the Grandmaster appeared over the dashboard singing,
*It's MY BIRTHDAY! It's MY BIRTHDAY! It's MY BIRTHDAY.*
Before they heard explosions outside the ship and Ash looked up to see the fireworks that were being shot from outside the ship before facing forward again to see a large piece of debris and she told him,
"Dive down!"
"What?!"
"Trust me!"
Bruce did so and, as expected, Topaz followed blindly despite the fireworks blocking her view.
"Pull up now!"
Pulling as hard as he could on the steering, Bruce managed to drive the ship up and over the debris leaving Topaz to crash her ship into it with her ship being the second to last one left pursuing them.
"Yeah!" Bruce yelled and Ash cheered,
"Woo hoo!"
"Now that's using your head!"
Ash smiled at the pride she heard in his voice before looking to see that the last ship following them had been hijacked by Thor and Valkyrie as they directed it toward their ship so Ash told Bruce,
"Open the doors, here they come."
And he did so before the two of them jumped up and landed in the ship and Bruce told them,
"Guys, we're coming up on the Devil's Anus!"
Ash snorted again at the name before she and Bruce switched places with Thor and Valkyrie so they could sit in the seats behind the pilot and copilot seat.
They had to quickly strap themselves in as the turbulence started getting worse the closer to the center of the wormhole before they started flying up in the center of the wormhole, fighting against the winds and dodging all the swirling debris that was caught up in the whirlwinds.
"Here we go!" Valkyrie yelled as they kept climbing up to the center before everyone's visions were flooded with colorful lights before everything went white and then black.
Short Time Skip
Once the Commodore made it through the wormhole heading up toward Asgard, the entire crew had completely passed out from the journey through the wormhole minus Ash but even she had gotten a bit drowsy from the force of the teleportation.
"E-everyone... wake up!" Ash mumbled still out of it before shaking her head to fully wake up and to wake the others so they could see that they made it to Asgard.
"I never thought I'd be back here." Valkyrie whispered with mixed emotions in her voice as they started flying towards the planet.
"I thought it'd be nicer. I mean, n-not that it's not nice. It's just, it's on fire." Bruce stammered out as he and Ash got out of their seats to get a better look at the city only to discover that it was on fire and several buildings were in ruin.
"Here, up here in the mountains." Valkyrie pointed to a screen on the dashboard that was showing numerous red dots that were gathered within the top of a mountain in the distance with one green dot heading toward them as she explained, "Heat signatures. People clustered together. Hela's coming for them."
"OK, drop me off at the palace and I'll draw her away from them." Thor devised before Valkyrie argued,
"And get yourself killed?"
"The people trapped down there are all that matters. While I'm dealing with Hela, I need you three to help get everyone off Asgard."
"How the hell are we supposed to do that?" Bruce questioned and Thor answered,
"I have a man on the ground."
After a short flight to the palace where Thor figured would be the best place to face his sister he managed to find the armory more or less undamaged and raided and brought an Asgardian blaster back saying,
"Now the ship has a gun."
"We'll take it from here." Valkyrie nodded to Ash and she used her alien strength to lift the blaster up and take it into the ship, starting to weld it to the floor with two glowing red fingers before Bruce called to her from the pilot's seat,
"Umm Ash you're uhh staff thing is glowing and shaking over here."
Making her stop her work to see he was right; her staff was shaking against the wall as the gem glowed a bright red with crimson orange swirling within it.
"It does that, still don't really know why..." Ash came over to grab it and it stopped shaking but the glow still shone brightly.
"Maybe it wants to stay near you?"
"You think it's sentient? Like Loki's scepter?"
"I mean... we've seen weirder..." Bruce shrugged and Ash side-nodded in acknowledgment before he turned his attention back to the steering and lifted the ship into the air in the direction of all the heat signatures showing that all the Asgardians were heading to a long bridge over the ocean leading to a structure in the distance.
"Kid!" Valkyrie called her over motioning to the unfinished welding job and Ash went over and spun the staff a few times before pointing it top down to the edge that still needed to be welded and a single, laser-like stream of light came out and finished the job.
"Nice." Valkyrie nodded, impressed before grabbing a bundle of gray and light blue armor and started pulling it on and Ash headed back to the copilot seat to sit down as they neared the rainbow bridge where all the people were heading toward the end before they saw they were being blocked by a horde of zombie-looking creatures as well as a giant black wolf.
Just as the giant wolf started running toward the citizens, Valkyrie, now fully suited up, started using the blaster to rapid-fire shoot at it to try and slow it down as the people below started fighting the undead soldiers.
After a while, the bullets no longer affected the giant wolf and it continued charging toward the people as they started trying to flee the other way but were blocked by more of the "Berserkers".
"This stupid dog won't die!" Valkyrie yelled in frustration and Bruce looked forward in hesitation before pulling Ash into the pilot's seat, telling her,
"Here take over."
"What are you doing?" Ash panicked as she was pushed into the seat but she tried to resist.
"I need you to stay here, I'll handle this..."
"What? No-!" Ash tried to protest.
"Ash!" Bruce held both her arms as her eyes started to well up and told her while looking her in the eyes, "Those people down there need help..."
"Please... don't leave again..." She tried to plea again and Bruce put a hand to her face and wiped her tears away before whispering to her,
"Ash... I know I've said this before but... I will always be there for you whether I'm here or not and no matter what form I take... because family can overcome anything that's thrown at it."
Ash hugged him tightly before letting go and nodding hesitantly as she stood back to let him go toward the open doors to tell Valkyrie,
"Everything's going to be okay. I got this. You want to know who I am?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" She questioned before he answered just as he jumped out of the aircraft,
"You'll see."
Bruce plummeted through the air toward the bridge, Ash watching alongside Valkyrie aboard the ship awaiting the transformation until-
*SPLAT*
She flinched and held her fisted hands in front of her mouth as one corner went up in a worried wince and made a small 'tss' sound as she and Valkyrie saw Bruce's seemingly lifeless body being nosed by the large black wolf before it resumed charging toward the people.
"Come on Dad..." Ash whispered and, before their eyes, green overtook his body and he grew larger in mere seconds before Hulk ran over and grabbed the wolf by its tail and swung it away from the people before he let out a powerful roar.
"Huh..." Valkyrie made the realization and looked to Ash to see her smiling a bit before asking, "You knew 'bout that the whole time?"
"Yep." Ash replied, dragging out the y and popping the p playfully before the ship shook and they brought their attention back to the situation at hand as they both looked over the edge to see some of the Berserker soldiers attempting to swarm and shoot the ship down.
"I'm on it!" Ash ran to the pilot's seat and took control of the ship, struggling to maneuver it to where they could shake off the Berserkers that were already starting to surge toward the ship.
"Hurry up up there!" Valkyrie yelled as she sliced through one of the Berserkers that managed to board the ship and more threatened to follow it.
"I'm trying!" Ash yelled back impatiently as she wrestled with the steering to drive the ship to execute a barrel roll maneuver but the swarm of Berserkers was making it hard to do so.
*BOOM*
And it got worse when an explosion occurred outside and Ash saw the red lights flash before a hologram showed up to say that the main thruster had been compromised and they were losing altitude.
"We're going down!" Ash shouted in panic as the ship fell through the air toward the rainbow bridge.
*Tha-thump*
Ash suddenly felt a pulse run through her mind, body, and core and, before she could fully comprehend it, she leaped out of the pilot's seat to grab her staff before shooting over to Valkyrie, wrapping an arm around her waist as she lifted her staff up as some wisps of yellowish-red energy flowed out from the fiery gem to surround the two of them in a semi-transparent bubble and, as the ship crashed through the bridge's pillars and crashed, the bubble prevented them from being jostled around too much as they hovered slightly off the floor.
"What in the-?!" Valkyrie was about to question what Ash was doing until she looked up at her and saw her eyes were glowing a bright yellow to match her staff before she blinked and shook her head to make her eyes and staff go back to normal and the bubble faded from around them to set them on the floor again.
"What just happened?" Ash questioned groggily as she put a hand to her head.
"I was about to ask you that."
"I feel like something or someone just took me over for a second and then..." Ash trailed off as she looked to the jewel in her staff as it glowed and brightened in unison with her core and, when she put her hand on her chest, she could feel her heartbeat deepening.
"Does it normally do that?" Valkyrie raised an eyebrow as she motioned with her head to the staff.
"No... I've been using it for months now and this is the first time that's happened."
Just as Valkyrie was about to ask something, their attention was diverted by a loud-
*BRRZZT*
Before they looked through the window on the escape exit to see that a huge lightning strike had hit the palace in the distance and they could see a flickering figure flying through the air to the bridge and started destroying all the Berserkers along with what looked like the Sakaaran gladiators led by Loki.
"I don't know 'bout you, but I don't wanna miss that action." Valkyrie smirked and Ash returned it before saying,
"Let's see if..."
As she held her staff in front of her with both hands and closed her eyes before they opened again glowing their normal golden bronze color before she sent out a field of bronze energy that forced the ship's emergency escape hatch to burst open in front of them to let them out while also setting off more of the ship's fireworks and confetti blasters as they both climbed out and walked away from the ship.
Some of the Berserkers' attention was directed toward them from the fireworks and they started running towards them in a swarm.
"You get the ones on the left I get the ones on the right?" Ash asked, casting a side glance to Valkyrie and she side-shrugged in response.
Ash smiled confidently as she started whirling her staff around in front of her from side to side before thumping it down on the ground to send out a wave of heat-filled energy that disintegrated the Berserkers into her namesake while Valkyrie used Dragonfang to slice through any that got in her way.
As they both made their way toward where the last of the people were hurrying onto a spaceship where the remaining Sakaraan gladiators, Heimdall, and Loki were fighting off any Berserker that tried to get too close to the ship, they both saw that Thor was missing an eye.
As they got closer, they saw Thor helping Loki up from the ground telling him
"You're late."
And he retorted with,
"You're missing an eye."
"This isn't over." Valkyrie reminded them as the four of them all stood together to face their oncoming threat; Hela, the Goddess of Death as she slowly strode toward them and Ash could practically feel the power she was wielding even from the distance and she put a hand to her chest to grasp her core as it twinged painfully.
"I think we should disband the Revengers." Thor suddenly told them out of nowhere and Loki tried to suggest,
"Hit her with a lightning blast."
"I just hit her with the biggest lightning blast in the history of lightning. It did nothing."
"We just need to hold her off until everybody's on board." Valkyrie reminded them.
"But then what?" Ash questioned and Thor looked to her before glancing to the people still boarding the ship behind him as he spoke,
"She's right. It won't end there. The longer Hela's on Asgard the more powerful she grows. She'll hunt us down. We need to stop her here and now."
"What's our move?" Valkyrie asked and Loki told Thor in particular,
"I'm not doing 'Get help.'"
Making Ash look at them with a raised eyebrow and questioning look before making a mental note to ask later and focus on the matter at hand.
"Asgard's not a place, it's the people..." Thor started to say before making a realization, "This was never about stopping Ragnarok...it was about causing Ragnarok."
Before directing the next statement to Loki,
"Go to the vault. Surtur's crown. It's the only way."
"Bold move, brother... Even for me." He responded, impressed, before running off to the Grandmaster's ship to do as Thor asked leaving him with Valkyrie and Ash as he asked them,
"Shall we?"
"Let's do this." Ash replied confidently as she held her staff in front of her and Valkyrie added,
"After you."
Before the three of them charged Hela and each of them tried to land a hit on her but she kept deflecting their attacks with swift weapon strikes and nearly unmatchable speed, even as Thor started using his lightning powers to try to rival his sister's abilities but she just stabbed him in the shoulder and tossed him back.
"I gotcha." Ash quickly circled her hand around her staff's jewel and it left her hand slightly glowing as she hovered it over Thor's injury and it healed almost instantaneously as Valkyrie held Hela off long enough for her to do so.
"Well looks like you're going to be a problem." Hela spoke condescendingly before shooting a dagger to Ash and she barely dodged it before she ran forward to fight her as Thor shouted to Heimdall once all the people got on the ship,
"GO! GO NOW!"
Heimdall relented to do so before Thor turned back in time to see Hela forcing Ash back with a slice to her side from a long saber she manifested before Valkyrie came in to keep her from finishing Ash off.
More blows and hits were exchanged between the four of them until it came down to the three of them on the ground battered and nearly beaten down, Valkyrie and Ash close together in front of Hela while Thor had been thrown behind her.
Ash struggled to get up before Hela summoned another dagger and shot it at her, aiming for her core, but she brought her staff up and the dagger embedded itself into the wooden shaft.
"Aren't you just a little fighting spirit?" Hela sneered down to Ash before she whipped out a long saber to swing it down on Ash, who raised her staff up to block the strike, but, in doing so, Hela's strength sliced her staff in half and the blow was felt in Ash's core.
"Aaahhh!" Ash cried out in pain as the two halves of her staff fell to the sides leaving her completely vulnerable while, behind her, Valkyrie was crawling unsteadily to retrieve Dragonfang before Thor called out from behind his sister before she could strike another blow to Ash,
"HELA! Enough! You want Asgard? It's yours."
"Whatever game you're playing, it won't work. You can't defeat me." She boasted in a triumphant tone.
"No I know, but he can." Thor hooked a thumb to point behind him just as a huge molten figure burst through the palace in the distance and let out a conquering roar.
"No... NO!" Hela shouted in disbelief before she received a stab to the chest courtesy of Valkyrie that practically pinned her to the bridge before Thor and Ash both shot lightning and fire into Dragonfang to break the bridge underneath her and send her plummeting into the ocean.
"You alright?" Valkyrie went over to Ash as she had picked up the halves of her staff and was looking down at them in despair.
"I just hope I can fix this..." She responded and sheathed the two halves in her belt to make an x behind her.
"Tremble before me Asgard, for I am your reckoning!" They all turned to see Surtur still enlarging to tower over the city and started swinging his giant sword to destroy countless buildings.
"Your people are safe." Ash stated as they all watched Surtur continue his rampage of destruction.
"That's all that matters." Valkyrie nodded in agreement.
"We're fulfilling the prophecy." Thor spoke.
"I hate this prophecy."
"So do I, but we have no choice. Surtur destroys Asgard, he destroys Hela so that our people can live."
Halfway through Thor's speech Ash hears strained grunts coming from behind them and turns in time to see Hulk, having dragged himself onto the bridge from the ocean from the way he was soaking wet, and started trying to tell them,
"Uhhh guys?"
"We need to let him finish..." Thor continued talking until he caught sight of Hulk soaring through the air toward Surtur and yelled, "No!"
"I tried telling you!" Ash started to say before Thor yelled again,
"Hulk no! Stop it you moron!"
"Hey!" Ash spoke up defensively just as Hulk had been flicked off Surtur's face by him when he was trying to punch him multiple times and he ended up skidding back on the bridge.
"Hulk! Stop!"
Hulk turned back to face Thor as he shouted,
"Just for once in your life, don't smash!"
"But...big Monster." Hulk whined wanting to get back to trying to fight the giant fiery monster but Valkyrie told him seriously,
"Let's go!"
"Grrrr fine!" Hulk growled before running toward the three of them and scooping them all up before leaping with all his strength to make it onto the ship.
Once onboard Hulk dropped Thor and Valkyrie onto the floor before setting Ash on her feet more gently.
"Favoritism..." Thor muttered as he grudgingly rose from the floor holding his aching shoulder and Hulk snorted in warning before they all heard Heimdall's voice from behind them,
"Glad you all made it."
"In more or less one piece..." Valkyrie groaned as she stood up stretching her arms out painfully.
"Is everyone alright?" Ash asked concerned and Heimdall motioned with his head to follow him as they walked to the main viewing area where people were watching Surtur battling Hela, who had survived the supposed-to-be-fatal blow and was using her powers to try and strike Surtur down before he roared out,
"I am Asgard's doom!" Readying his sword to strike the final blow and plunging it down, right through Hela, to strike the planetary center of Asgard causing a wave of fire and destruction to radiate from the strike point.
Everyone aboard the ship was silent as they watched their home being destroyed and Ash could feel her core and heart aching alongside the peoples' since she knew all too well the pain of losing your entire home planet.
"The damage is not too bad..." Korg spoke up from where he was standing holding a limp Miek in his arms and continued hopefully, "As long as the foundations are strong, we can rebuild this place.... It will become a haven for all people and aliens of the universe..."
*BANG*
With a harsh boom and a huge release of energy, Asgard splits down the middle before detonating, completing its total destruction. There was a moment of silence before it was broken with Korg's,
"Nope, those foundations are gone. Sorry..."
"What have I done...?" Thor asked, at a loss for words, until Heimdall told him,
"You saved us from extinction... Asgard is not a place, it's the people..."
Thor glanced over to see him and all the people looking at him with more gratitude than remorse and he smiled a bit before walking away towards the ship's quarters leaving everyone in the main area, Loki following from a distance.
"We should give them a minute..." Heimdall suggested and Ash nodded from the side before asking again,
"How many injured are there?"
"Luckily only a scant few." Heimdall nodded to a small group of people who were gathering together to help each other bandage their wounds with strips of their clothing they had ripped off.
"I'll search the ship for some first aid supplies." Ash turned to start walking away when Heimdall stopped her to say,
"Or you could just heal them right here and now."
"I... I can't... my staff is broken..." Ash pulled the two halves from her belt to show him before adding, "It amplified and concentrated my powers so without it..."
"You're right about one but not the other."
Ash gave him a questioning look before he answered,
"The staff did indeed amplify your powers thanks to the souls within, but it was never the only thing that made your abilities advance the way they did."
"Wait... souls within?"
"When your ship was going down, you said you felt a strange power 'take control' of you, yes?" Ash nodded hesitantly before he continued, "The core spirits of the previous wielders of that staff were who were assisting you when you needed the little extra nudge but it's your strength that makes it possible."
Ash took a moment to process what she had been told before looking down at the two halves of her staff and closing her eyes to take a deep breath before she opened her eyes with determination burning in them and her core burning just as brightly before some streaks of energy ran from her chest down her arms to surround the two halves of the staff to fuse the broken edges back together before she walked over to the group of injured people and leaving her staff floating in midair behind her as she went around and used her glowing hands to heal everyone's injuries, leaving hardly a scar in their places.
After some profuse 'thank you's' from the people, Ash retrieved her newly repaired staff and just as her hand touched it, it flashed brightly before revealing that it had changed forms to become a wooden armband in the middle of her left forearm with the now-downsized jewel in the center.
"That's... weirdly helpful? It was getting hard to carry around all the time." Ash examined her new accessory before smiling at Heimdall who had been watching her the whole time.
"You're coming into your full power, young Chrysinthean, and it's only a matter of time before they're put to the ultimate trial."
"That's what I used to be afraid of..." Ash admitted before she saw Thor walking into the room and Valkyrie, Loki, Hulk, Korg, and Miek were all gathering at the end where the captain's chair was and the both of them walked over to them, Hulk placed a large hand on her shoulder and huffed with a bit of pride as Ash stated confidently, "But now I know, no matter what I end up facing... I won't be facing it alone..."
As Thor walked through the crowd, the people part to allow him through and bowed humbly to him and there was an ambiance of respectful adoration as he reached the chair and Valkyrie told him,
"Your throne."
Thor hesitated before sitting down and he looked around him to see everyone by his side before Heimdall started to ask,
"So, King of Asgard." Thor paused to look to his people behind him and gave a casual wave before Heimdall continued, "Where to?"
Thor looked around before admitting,
"I'm not sure. Any suggestions? Miek, what's your home planet?"
"Oh, Miek's dead." Korg spoke up and everyone looked at him in disbelief as he explained, "Yeah I accidentally stomped on him on the bridge, I've just felt so guilty I've been carrying him around all day..."
Just as Ash was about to step over to try to revive him, Miek wriggled to life and started making clicking noises as Korg celebrated,
"Miek, you're alive! He's alive everyone! What was your question?"
Cuing Thor to look forward again as he made a decision,
"Earth it is."
"I'm sure the others will be happy to see us." Ash noted before the ship's navigation was directed to head in the direction of Earth and everyone disbanded to help out around the ship in the meantime.
"Hey Heimdall?" Ash caught said person before he could walk off to ask him, "Do you think you could tell me more about what's gonna happen with my home planet? I know something's coming... I don't know what and how I'm going to have to face it."
"I'm afraid I can't reveal that just yet, otherwise your destiny would be potentially skewed, but it's like you said earlier, you'll be facing it with the people you care about most by your side."
"Then can you at least tell me how everyone's doing back on Earth and if you can see where my sister is?"
"Which one would you like to know first?"
Ash paused for a second as she realized this was another moment where it felt like she had to choose between her own people or her new family and Heimdall seemed to sense that as he added,
"It doesn't have to feel like you're choosing between your home and people... for you or your sister. One day, when your home is hanging in the balance, you'll both realize that..."
"Now that's just making it seem like I should be choosing my home, the way you phrased that makes it seem like that."
"I suppose you'll understand better when it's time..."
Ash was about to make another mildly joking comment when she felt as if the very air around her was starting to close in on her and her breath hitched as a cold feeling washed over her making it feel as though she had been dunked in freezing cold water.
"Something's wrong..." Ash touched a hand to her armband and it morphed into her grip as her staff before she whipped it in front of her to create a small trail of sparks that circled her before settling into the ground as a circle.
"I sense it as well..." Heimdall spoke eerily as they hurried to find Thor and Loki and they caught up with them as they were standing in front of one of the large floor to ceiling windows as the only thing in view was a giant spaceship that dwarfed their ship with its massive size.
"What is that?" Ash asked with her voice wavering in fear.
"He's here..." Loki murmured forebodingly.
Just as Ash was about to ask who he was talking about, a memory flashed to the front of her mind as she suddenly recognized the ship and her eyes widened before she whispered,
"Thanos..."

AN- And that's it for Rising from the Ashes and next up is the Infinity War and Endgame crossovers in Spark Sisters!
Guess who managed to finish up this extra-long, last chapter of Ragnarok during the 21 hour bus ride back home for the holidays? Over Winter Break I'll be working on the first chapters of Spark Sisters so hopefully I'll have the first chapter out within the next few weeks.
I hope you all have a great holiday with your families and friends and, if you're a student like me, have a restful break ^^
Until the next chapter, Bye!
