Bruce is Back
Ash's POV
Once morning arrived, Thor's plan went into motion; Valkyrie came into the room, messing with one of the guards by making their staff fall out from their strict guard position before smiling at Hulk as he called to her,
"Angry girl!"
The two of them started to play roughhouse before she "defeated" him and asked,
"What's going on? What do you...?"
Pausing before she saw me and Thor standing by the large rack of booze as he tried, and failed, to prop himself against the rack coolly before settling to hold his arms in front of him as I arched my eyebrow and shook my head at the display with my arms crossed and my staff in one hand.
Valkyrie's smile immediately turned to one of contempt as she stepped "over" Hulk before starting to walk away saying,
"You're so thick-headed that you can't tell when someone's hiding all the way across the universe and wants to be left alone?"
"We need to talk." Thor tried to tell her but she retorted with,
"No, you want to talk to me."
"We need her to stay."
Hulk made a sound of acknowledgment before he decided to rip the top of his skull bed off and tossed it in front of Valkyrie to block the doorway as he yelled a little too loudly,
"Stay! Please?"
"Little bit of an overkill..." I murmured to Hulk but he didn't even hear me as he started to bounce a large rubber ball against the wall before I turned back to where Valkyrie had resigned to stay with a following condition,
"Alright." She walked over to the rack starting to negotiate, "Here's the deal. I'll listen to you..." She picked up a fairly large bottle of booze, "till this is empty."
She popped the cap off and started chugging as Thor started to explain,
"Asgard is in danger and people are dying. We need to get back there. I need your help... wow..." He trailed off when he gaped at how quickly she was able to chug the whole bottle before she told him,
"Aaah finished. Bye."
Starting to walk away before she halted at Thor's next words,
"Odin is dead. Hela, the Goddess of Death has invaded Asgard."
"If Hela's back then Asgard is already lost."
"I'm going to stop her."
"Alone?"
"Nope. I'm putting together a team. It's me, you, the kid, and the big guy." Thor tried to convince her as he pointed to each person when he
"No, no team. Only Hulk."
"It's me, the kid, and you."
"I think it's only you two."
Thor gave me a look and I breathed out my nose impatiently as I told him,
"Alriiiight I'll try again..." Before turning to go talk to Hulk again as he went back to bouncing his rubber ball against the wall.
"Pleeaaaase won't you come back to Earth with us?" I did my best "little girl" begging face, hoping it would be enough to make him change his mind but he just responded with a gruff,
"Earth hate Hulk. Tiny Blaze stay here instead."
Making me sigh impatiently through my nose again as I put my hands together trying to explain calmly,
"Tiny Blaze has to go help Thor save his home and then go back to Earth."
"Why no staaaaay?"
"Because our friends need us, both of us."
"Tiny Blaze Go! Hulk Stay!"
"If that's how you really feel then fine!" I snapped at him and angrily stomped away in time to see that Thor had managed to get the Obedience Disk controller, my Kimoyo bracelets, and my suit pin away from Valkyrie as he told her,
"For this and these. Didn't see that, did you? Here you are."
He tossed the last two items to me and I smiled and nodded thankfully before announcing,
"Upgrade time." Fastening the pin to the front of my body-suit underneath the cobbled together pieces of armor and activating it, making my Vibranium suit form and forcing the gladiator armor pieces to fall off as they were replaced by the new suit.
I readied my new gauntlets and sheathed my staff on my belt as Thor was removing his and my Obedience Disks using the controller before directing to Valkyrie,
"There... that's better. You know, go ahead. Stay here and get drunk and enslave people for that lunatic. Keep drinking. Keep hiding. But me..." He clapped his hands to signal Hulk to toss him the ball and he caught it before saying, "I choose to run toward my problems and not away from them. Because that's wh-"
*WHAP*
I snorted a bit as I tried to contain my laughs at that dramatic moment failure when Thor tossed the ball to the window before it rebounded and hit him in the face, making him fall to the ground stunned, before he picked himself back up and finished,
"-because that's what heroes do."
Just before he jumped through the glass to shatter it and started to slide down the side of the building to get to the ground.
"See ya." I gave Valkyrie and Hulk a two-fingered salute before falling backward out the hole in the window and letting myself fall head down through the air until I activated a stream of flames to upright me just before I could hit the ground and launched myself up into the air before extinguishing the flames so I could activate my gauntlets to let out a grappling line to hook onto some overhanging junk to swing through the air, occasionally using my staff to vault over tall obstacles as well, less conspicuously after Thor, who was running on the ground toward the Quinjet and I landed on top of it just as he arrived and we both got inside.
"Doesn't look like it's too damaged." I noted surveying the inside and seeing only a few things out of place with some scratches on the wall.
"Alright. Come on." Thor pressed a few buttons on the control console to turn the ship on before placing his hand on the identification pad as a voice told us,
Voice activation required.
"Thor."
Access denied.
"Thor, son of Odin."
Access denied.
"God of Thunder."
Access denied.
"Strongest Avenger."
Access denied.
"Strongest Avenger!"
Access denied.
"What about you?" He asked turning to me and I raised my hands as I answered,
"Don't look at me, the last time I was on Earth I was a fugitive. Ross probably made Tony take my verifications out of the system..."
"Right..."
"You know there's one name you haven't tried yet." I gave him an expecting look and he frowned before muttering and announcing,
"Damn you, Stark... Point Break."
Welcome, Point Break.
"Pfft." I tried and failed to stifle my laugh and Thor responded with a sharp,
"Shush."
Right before-
"Stay!"
Hulk ripped open the back of the Quinjet and started making his way to us, breaking everything apart as he went while Thor and I started yelling for him to stop,
"Stop! Stop breaking everything!"
"Stop smashing everything!"
"Don't gooooo!"
I gasped when I remembered something and turned to the control panel and quickly typed in a command to bring up the ship last received transmission which pulled up the video of Nat trying to tell Hulk to come back,
*Nice work, big guy. We don't know where Ultron's headed, but you're going very high, very fast. So, I need you to turn this bird around, okay? We can't track you in stealth mode... So I need you to help me out. Okay? I need you to... I need you-I need you-*
"Dad... please come back..." I pleaded clasping my hand together.
Unexpectedly, Hulk began thrashing around, punching himself in the face while howling in pain,
"No! Raaaahhhhh! No, Banner!"
As Hulk continued to hurl himself into the walls of the Quinjet, I flinched every time the harsh slams rang out into the air and the tears welling in my eyes threatened to spill over before Thor told me,
"You shouldn't see this, go wait outside."
"But-" I was about to protest but Thor gave me a serious 'go now' look and I managed to climb up and out of an emergency exit hatch in the ceiling that led back outside the Quinjet and I ran a little bit away until I tripped and fell in a pile of trash and my staff fell a little ways away.
"Ugh!" I wiped the dusty powder of unknown origin from my face with my sleeve before my attention was caught by siren noises sounding from the city,
"Oh no..." I picked myself up and looked out in worry as a huge projection of the Grandmaster materialized over the city.
*Sakaar, hear ye. Attention please. I have some bad news. My beloved, exalted Champion has turned up missing. Take to the streets. Celebrate my champion."
"Oh this is not good..."
"It seems that Pyre and that criminally seductive Lord of Thunder have stolen him away.*
"Gotta warn them..." I grabbed my staff and practically throttled it in my grasp as I ran back to the Quinjet and saw Thor exiting it with...
"Dad...?"
"Ash...?" He looked me over, no doubt confused by my new appearance but I didn't care as I jumped forward and hugged him tightly, afraid to let go as I sobbed out,
"I'm so sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry..."
"Woah woah woah what're you sorry for...?"
"After you left, I let my anger and fear and doubt take control of me and everything went wrong because I disobeyed everything you ever taught me!"
As I cried I could feel Dad hugging me back as he soothed,
"Hey hey, it's OK now... I'm here now..."
"Heeeeyyyy..." We both pulled apart from our hug to see Thor looking awkward as he stood apart from us and he pointed out,
"I hate to interrupt this touching moment, but we should start moving."
Looking off in the distance, I saw some Sakaarans on flying ships heading our way, led by the small pillar of smoke that was coming from the ruins of the Quinjet and I told them,
"He's right, let's go."
After picking up my staff from where I dropped it, again, and sheathing it more securely in my belt, I grabbed Dad's hand and followed Thor as we headed back toward the city. When we got to a corner where people were passing through but no guards were in sight, we all stopped as Thor started reciting,
"The sun's going down. It's getting really low. The sun's going down. It's getting real low."
All while Dad was rubbing his face in disbelief before he told Thor,
"Would you stop saying that!?"
"It's getting annoying and you don't say it as well as Nat." I admitted as I kept a lookout for any guards as more citizens kept walking and dancing by without giving us a second look.
"I just need you to stay calm." Thor directed back to Dad as he snapped back,
"Calm!? I'm on an alien planet!"
"It's just a planet. You've been on a planet before."
"Yeah! One!"
"Now you've been on two. That's a good thing. It's a new experience."
"That's not helping!" I hissed whispered to Thor as Dad started having a mini-breakdown,
"My-my neurons, they're firing faster than my brain can handle the information. The whole thing is totally different this time. In the past, I always felt like Hulk and I each had a hand on the wheel, but this time it's like he had the keys and I was locked in the trunk."
"Alright, well, you're back now, that's all that matters."
"No, it's not what matters. What I'm trying to tell you, is that if I turn into the Hulk again, Banner may never come back. And we're stranded on a planet that is designed to stress me out."
"We're not gonna let that happen." I told him determinedly and Thor added,
"We're not stranded, we're gonna figure out a way to get us home."
"Thank you."
"Not your home, though. Asgard my home." Thor corrected him before they got into a conversation,
"What?"
"Listen, my people are in great danger. We have to fight this really powerful being who also happens to be my sister."
"Okay, that is so wrong on so many lev-I don't wanna fight your sister. That's that's a that's a family issue."
"No, she's an evil being."
"I don't care what she is. I'm not fighting any more beings. I'm sick of it. I just told you. If I turn into the Hulk, I am never gonna come back again. And you don't care."
"No, no. I'm putting together the team. The Hulk is the fire."
"Again I'm actual fire..." I muttered as I waved along a kid that was lingering near us for a little too long.
"Wait, you're just using me to get to the Hulk."
"What? No!"
"That's gross. You don't care about me. You're not my friend."
"No! I don't even like the Hulk. He's all like... 'urgh smash, smash, smash.' I-I prefer you."
"Thanks."
"*cough* liar *cough**cough*" I coughed dramatically while giving Thor the "stink-eye" look as he sheepishly spoke again,
"Buuut if I'm being honest, when it comes to fighting evil beings, he is very powerful and useful."
"Yeah, Banner's powerful and useful, too."
"Is he though?"
"OK how many PhDs does Hulk have? Zero. How many PhDs does Banner have? Seven."
"Are you sure you can't just-"
"He's not turning and that's final!" I finally put my foot down and put an end to the argument, making both of them snap their heads to me in surprise before Thor finally relented,
"OK alright, now you need to calm down, but the fact is we're still in danger here, so we have to move."
Reaching for a stack of cloth that was on top of crates, Thor pulled out a single length of faded and worn out cloth and tossed it to me before grabbing one for himself and started draping it over his head like a shawl.
"What are you doing with that?" Dad questioned and Thor answered,
"We need disguises."
"We're fugitives after escaping the Grandmaster's crazy death games." I added while tearing off a thin lining of the cloth to use as a headband to keep my short bangs out of my face so none of my bright red hair would be visible once I wrapped the cloth around my head to fully conceal my head and face similar to way back when in Calcutta. I was taking another, longer piece of cloth to wrap around in shoulders like a multi-layered cowl to hide my staff that was still strapped to my belt on my back when I heard Thor and Dad arguing,
"I don't know. Maybe the fact that I was trapped for two years inside of a monster made me a little weird!" His voice deepening toward the end of his sentence and some green veins crawling their way up his face so I gently put a hand on his and he turned to see me looking at him pleadingly making a silent plea to not Hulk out again and he calmed back down again as Thor pulled us along while bargaining,
"Come on. Listen, we're gonna go to Asgard and you're not gonna have to think about the Hulk ever again. Alright?"
"Alright." He agreed before-
*WHAP!*
He was hit in the face with green powder paint and we had walked right in the path of a parade of people celebrating Hulk with costumes and setting off green paint bombs.
"This is bad..." I looked around to see if there was any way around all these people but couldn't see any and when I turned back I saw Thor facing away from some guards that were looking toward us and I noticed we were missing someone,
"Dad?!"
"Banner! Banner!"
We weaved our way through the crowds looking for any sign of him and we finally spotted him having bumped into one of the gladiator fighters who was looking ready to fight him. Thor and I got in front of him ready to take him down but just as he was about to make the first move-
*Bzzzzt*
He was taken down by his Obedience Disk activating and he fell to the ground to reveal that Valkyrie had been standing behind him.
"Hi." Thor greeted her nonchalantly and she responded with a plain,
"Hi."
"I was gonna do that." Thor insisted and Valkyrie countered with,
"Yeah, well, I did it first."
"That's good. What're you doing here?"
"What are you doing? I thought you both were leaving." Valkyrie wondered as she looked behind Thor to see me and Dad but I moved to stand in front of him while Thor moved to stand in front of both of us to get her attention off of us.
"We got sidetracked."
"What's with the..." She asked motioning to the cloth over Thor's head that, admittedly, was doing not so great a job at hiding his face.
"It's my disguise."
"But I can see your face."
"Not when I do this, you can't." He tried to bring a corner of the cloth up to half cover his face but she
"At least all I can see of her is her freakishly big eyes."
"Why do people always point out my eyes?" I questioned, exasperated.
"Your hair looks nice. I like what you did with it. Change it? Washed it maybe?" Thor changed the subject with a question.
She shook her head while rolling her eyes slightly before turning to walk away and, when we didn't follow right behind, turned back to motion with her eyes to follow her.
As we followed behind her, Dad was wiping the paint off his face while questioning,
"What are those things on her eyes? Are those the people that she's killed? She's so beautiful and strong..."
"Who is this guy?" Valkyrie asked and Thor answered while Dad spoke up,
"He's a friend."
"Who? Me? I'm Bruce."
"I feel like I know you." She spoke again and Dad responded with a vague,
"I feel like I know you too."
We had gotten inside what looked like an apartment complex and were still following Valkyrie when she suddenly stopped to face us as she spoke,
"Look, I've spent years in a haze trying to forget my past. Sakaar seemed like the best place to drink and forget and to die one day."
"I was thinking that you drink too much and that probably was going to kill you." Thor noted but she quickly retorted with,
"I don't plan to stop drinking, but I don't want to forget. I can't turn away anymore. So, if I'm gonna die, well... it may as well be driving my sword through the heart of that murderous hag."
"Good." Thor gave a nod of approval before she clarified,
"Yeah. So I'm saying that I wanna be on the team. Has it got a name?"
"Yeah, it's called the-the Revengers." Thor stuttered out and she questioned dubiously,
"'Revengers?'"
"Because I'm getting revenge. You're getting revenge. What about you two do you want revenge?" Thor explained and Valkyrie nodded in understanding before asking me and Dad and he responded for us with,
"We're undecided."
"Okay."
"Also, I've got a peace offering." Valkyrie opened the door to her apartment unit to reveal-
"Surpriiiise." Loki tied up with chains and sitting cross legged on the floor. As we filed into the apartment, Thor picked up one of the seemingly countless empty bottles that were scattered all across the floor and threw it at Loki's head earning a disgruntled,
"Oww..."
"Just had to be sure." Thor told him and I asked as I pulled the cloth off my head and face,
"Can I throw something at him?"
"Yeah sure knock yourself out."
Picking up a pretty big rock, I hit Loki in the head with it but it barely fazed him as he questioned,
"Was that really necessary?"
"Be happy it wasn't a fireball... that would've been my first choice..." I muttered as I came further into the apartment with Dad following behind me looking slightly nervous at seeing Loki again.
"Hello, Bruce."
"Soo... last time I saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you at these days?"
"It varies from moment to moment. And at least now I can see where 'your' child gets her temper and intelligence from."
"What was that?" Valkyrie asked from where she was rummaging around in a pile of boxes.
"Nothing." Dad, Thor, and I all spoke at the same time before she just shrugged it off and finally found what she was looking for placing it on the counter as Thor seemed to recognize it when he asked,
"Is that a Dragonfang?"
"Tis."
"My God. This is the famed sword of the Valkyrie." He pulled the sword out from its sheath and marveled at it as Valkyrie started to explain,
"So Sakaar and Asgard are about as far apart as any two known systems. Our best bet is a wormhole just outside the city limits. Refuel on Xandar and be back in Asgard in arounnnnnd.. 18 months."
"Nope. We're going through the big one." Thor interjected while using the Dragonfang to point to the giant wormhole in the distance.
"The Devil's Anus?" She questioned in disbelief and I snorted a bit at the name as Dad questioned from where he was helping himself to some of Valkyrie's food,
"Wait anus, whose anus?"
"For the record, I didn't know it was called that when we picked it."
"No but considering the people on this planet I'm not really surprised that's what they chose to name it." I noted and Thor side nodded in agreement before Dad analyzed it,
"That looks like a collapsing neutron star inside of an Einstein- Rosen Bridge."
"We need another ship. That would tear mine to pieces." Valkyrie used a freshly opened bottle of booze to point at it and the three of us started to plan,
"She's right. We need one that can withstand the geodetic strain from the singularity."
"And has an offline power steering system-"
"-that would still work without an on-board computer and has an autopilot setting."
"And we need one with cup holders because we're gonna die. So, drinks!" Valkyrie added while raising her bottle up and Dad questioned again,
"Do I know you? I feel like I know you."
"I feel like I know you, too. It's weird."
"What do you say, doctor? Uncharted metagalactic travel through a volatile cosmic gateway. Talk about an adventure." Thor asked Dad before holding his fist up but he high-fived it making me smile ruefully as how much I missed his antics before I reminded them,
"Ship."
"Right, we need a ship."
"Need a ship."
"There are one or two ships, absolute top-of-the-line models-" Valkyrie started to explain before Loki interrupted with,
"I don't mean to impose-"
*CRASH*
Causing Valkyrie to throw her bottle at him but narrowly missing him as it shattered against the wall closest to him before he continued, more or less unfazed,
"-but the Grandmaster has a great many ships. I may even have stolen the access codes to his security system."
"And suddenly you're overcome with an urge to do the right thing?" Valkyrie questioned dubiously.
"Heavens, no. I've run out of favor with the Grandmaster. And in exchange for codes and access to a ship I'm asking for safe passage... through the anus."
I snorted again at the wording before Thor asked him,
"You're telling us you can get us access into the garage without setting off any alarms?"
"Yes, brother. I can."
"Okay, can I just..." Dad gave a quick whistle to gather us in a small circle before whispering to us, "A quick FYI, I was just talking to him just a couple minutes ago and he was totally ready to kill any of us."
"He did try to kill me." Valkyrie agreed and Thor added,
"Yes, me too. On many, many occasions. There was one time when we were children, he transformed himself into a snake, and he knows that I love snakes. So, I went to pick up the snake to admire it and he transformed back into himself and he was like, 'Bleh, it's me!' And then he stabbed me. We were eight at the time."
"And I thought he was messed up before..." I raised an eyebrow while looking back at Loki from the corner of my eye and saw him smiling slightly from Thor's story.
"If we're boosting a ship, we're gonna need to draw some guards away from the palace." Valkyrie pointed out cuing Loki to ask,
"Why not set the beast loose?"
"Shut up." Thor told him but Valkyrie's interest was already peaked as she asked,
"You guys have a beast?"
"No, there's no beast. He's just being stupid. We're going to start a revolution."
"Revolution?" Dad questioned.
"We'll explain later." I told him and Valkyrie asked,
"Who's this guy again?"
"I'll explain later." Thor answered.
"Let's get to it then." I told them and we started getting ready for our plan.

AN- I'm back? And posting on a Sunday which I know is out of the norm for me but that's just been my life recently...
If you've seen the announcement I posted to my account a few weeks ago, I've been having a lot of stress with my college life and, honestly, I've still been feeling off when it comes to anything creative recently since I'm still feeling uncertain about everything going on in my life. It's gotten a little bit better to where I'm not having a mini emotional breakdown several times a day and thanks to my samba dancemates, my advisors, and the people in my school's Queer Student Union I've been able to sort through all my problems, figure out which ones are worth worrying about and had a little bit of help figuring out what I could do to start to figure out what I want to do with my life.
Depressing stuff aside, there's only three more chapters of Ragnarok left which may vary in when they're posted since the script I'll be editing for each of them vary in length plus with how I'm going to write in Ash's involvement so I will be doing my best over Thanksgiving break next week to get them edited and done to make up for the last few weeks of inactivity.
Again, I'm so sorry for posting late and thank you for sticking around while I'm going through all of these stresses and I hope I can make these last few chapters worth it ^^
Until the next chapter, Bye!
