Chapter - 24
The silence in the hospital room was suffocating. Vineet was still on his knees, his breath ragged, his world crumbling before his eyes. He had begged, pleaded, and cried, but nothing had softened the ice in his parents’ hearts. Nothing had brought back the warmth in Anamika’s eyes.
But before she could leave, something inside her snapped.
She stopped in her tracks, her fists clenching. The overwhelming pain, the months of suffering, the accusations, the betrayal—everything came crashing down at once.
She turned sharply, her eyes blazing with an intensity Vineet had never seen before.
“You,” she spat, her voice trembling with rage. “You have no right to cry in front of me!”
Vineet’s head snapped up, his tear-streaked face filled with desperation. “Anamika—”
“No!” she screamed, stepping toward him. “You don’t get to say my name like that! You don’t get to look at me like you care! You don’t get to beg when you threw me away like I was nothing! You have no right on me Vineet, NO RIGHT!!!”
Her chest heaved, her entire body trembling. The sheer force of her rage made everyone in the room freeze. Even Aarnav and Shakshi remained silent, letting her unleash what had been suffocating her for so long.
Vineet’s lips trembled. “I know I—”
“You know NOTHING!” she cut him off, pointing a shaking finger at him. “You accused me! You humiliated me! You stood there, with that woman by your side, and you let her question my worth as a wife! And you—” she let out a broken laugh, “you didn’t even stop to think before agreeing with her! How could you?”
Vineet’s heart clenched painfully. “I— I was angry—”
“Angry?” Anamika scoffed, her eyes wild with pain. “And what about me, Vineet? What about my anger? What about my pain? Do you even understand what I’ve been through?” She placed a protective hand over her stomach. “Do you have any idea how terrifying it was to be pregnant and abandoned? To be carrying our child and knowing that the father didn’t give a damn? No, you don't!! Tumhara ye jhoothe aansu, ye nakli pachtava aur ye girgirahat meri koi takleef ko kam ya dur nahi kar sakti, kabhi nahi kyunki tumhare diye ghao kabhi bhar hi nahi sakte. Tumne mere dil ko toda nahi hai, usse pathar ka bejaan bana dia hai.”
Vineet shut his eyes, fresh tears spilling down his face. “I swear, I—”
“Stop swearing,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Stop making promises you’ll never keep. Apne ye khokhle jhoothe waade tum apne paas hi rakho toh behtar hai.”
A bitter silence filled the room.
Anamika inhaled deeply, wiping her tears. “You asked me once why I didn’t tell you about the pregnancy.” She let out a shaky breath. “It’s because you didn’t deserve to know.”
Vineet’s breath hitched.
Anamika stepped closer, her voice now eerily calm. “You said I was selfish. That I never understood you.” She met his gaze, her eyes filled with nothing but cold finality. “But Vineet… I did understand you. That’s why I’m ending this. Bahut roi main tumhare liye par nahi, wo sab galat tha, mujhe haarna nahi tha kabhi aur na haarungi. Thanks to you, ye himmat tumne hi mujhe di thi ki kissi bhi situation mei mujhe haarna nahi hai, chahe kuch ho bhale hi puri duniya mere against ho lekin agar main khudke saath hoon toh koi mujhe nahi hara sakta. Jabtak main khud ka saath dungi, koi aur mera saath nahi de toh bhi koi fark nahi padta toh aab main wahi karungi. Main apni zindagi khudke saath bitaungi and i know tumhare saath se kai guna acha hoga ye.”
Vineet froze. “Anamika… no, please—”
“I’m done.” Her voice was firm. “I am done with you. With this marriage. With everything that ties me to you.” She took a deep breath. “I will raise this child alone. I will give them the love they deserve—the love you were never capable of giving.”
Vineet’s heart shattered. “Anamika, don’t—”
“I, Anamika Khanna, am freeing myself from you,” she declared, her voice strong. “I am not your wife anymore. I am not yours anymore.”
Vineet’s hands trembled, reaching out as if to stop her, but Anamika took a step back. “Don’t,” she warned. “You don’t get to touch me. You don’t get to claim me.”
Her voice softened, but her resolve didn’t waver. “Goodbye, Vineet.”
And with that, she turned on her heels and walked away, her steps firm, her heart finally free.
Vineet could only watch her disappear, knowing deep down—this time, she wasn’t coming back.

Anamika walked out of the hospital room with her head held high, but the moment she reached the corridor, her knees wobbled. Aarnav was by her side in an instant, holding her steady.
“You okay?” he asked gently.
She inhaled sharply, wiping away the last of her tears. “I will be.”
And for the first time, she truly believed it.
......
The inauguration party was grand, filled with Delhi’s top businessmen, celebrities, and media personalities. The entire hall buzzed with excitement, cameras flashing as reporters captured every moment of the prestigious event.
At the center of it all stood Anamika, draped in an elegant yet modest gown, her baby bump subtly hidden beneath the fabric. She exuded confidence, grace, and power—everything that defined her.
Raman stood beside her, smiling proudly as he addressed the media. “This project is a milestone, not just for my company, but for the industry. And all credit goes to Anamika, who has proven that determination and brilliance can break any barrier.”
The journalists turned their attention to her.
“Miss Anamika, you have built an empire in just a few years! What’s your secret?”
She smiled warmly. “Hard work, resilience, and belief in oneself.”
“Do you consider this project your biggest achievement?” another reporter asked.
Anamika placed a hand on her belly, a soft smile touching her lips. “No. My biggest achievement is yet to come.”
Raman’s wife, Ishita, standing nearby, chuckled knowingly.
The room erupted in applause, admiration pouring in from all corners. Women in business, young entrepreneurs, and aspiring leaders looked at her as an inspiration. She wasn’t just a successful businesswoman—she was a symbol of strength and survival.
As she posed for pictures, she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure at a distance.
Vineet.
He stood there, in the shadows, away from the cameras, watching her.
He looked nothing like the man she had once loved. His eyes held exhaustion, regret, and deep sorrow. For a moment, time seemed to freeze between them.
But unlike before, Anamika didn’t look away.
Instead, she gave him a firm, unwavering look—a look that said, I survived. I thrived. And I don’t need you anymore.
And with that, she turned back to the cameras, leaving Vineet behind in the darkness of his own mistakes.
Tonight, the world saw a winner. And her name was Anamika.
....
Two days later, Anamika left Delhi, returning to Bangalore, where she was welcomed with open arms by Aarnav and Shakshi. Her mother-in-law didn’t question her, didn’t push for explanations. She simply embraced her as if shielding her from all the pain she had endured.
From that moment on, Anamika threw herself into work. She focused on her business, on preparing for motherhood, on building a life where she was not defined by Vineet Khanna’s betrayal.
As the days passed, her strength grew.
She no longer woke up thinking about him. No longer let his words haunt her. And every time she felt her baby move inside her, she reminded herself—this child deserves a happy mother, not a broken one.
She would not waste another tear on Vineet.
She was done being the woman who waited.
Meanwhile, Vineet was falling apart.
Anamika’s final words echoed in his mind day and night.
"I am not your wife anymore. I am not yours anymore."
He tried drowning his guilt in alcohol. It didn’t work.
He tried throwing himself into work. That didn’t work either.
Everywhere he went, he saw her face. Heard her voice. Felt the loss of what he had so carelessly thrown away.
His parents had cut him off, disgusted by his actions. Ashok, despite his past indifference, had completely turned his back on him. And Vandita—whom he once believed he loved—had made it clear she despised him.
He had nothing left.
For the first time in his life, Vineet truly understood loneliness.
And it was unbearable.
One night, unable to take it anymore, he called Anamika.
The phone rang.
And rang.
And rang.
But she never picked up.
Because she was done with him.
And there, Vineet understood—he had lost her forever.

To be continued...
