MERIDA (P.O.V)

○I spent most of my life rebelling against my family and the town I had grown up in. Never had I been one to follow the law, my criminal record lets just say wasn't very clean. When the dead started to walk my inner rebel didn't change. It wasn't intill things started to get worse that I finally changed. And I learned that sometimes the Bravest thing you can do is not be Brave at all.○

I walked quickly, the mall was filled with people, some running other standing window shopping. Although I wasn't one to go to the mall often I could tell that everyone seemed on the edge. Some people were whispering into there phones there faces pale.

I was currently in the Wonderland mall. Unlike most malls this one had more than just shops were girls most not all spent there weekends shopping. It had a grocery store, arcade, skate ring, theater, even a shooting rang, you name it chance are it had it.

I didn't like malls I was only here because I had nothing else to do.A week ago I had ran away once again. Call me whatever you will but my mother was a strick bitch. I held my skateboard against my knee as I went up the escalator.

The top floor was nearly empty I smiled hopping on my board and skating around the people. My brown-green messager bag around my shoulder. People mumbled things as I past by them. I didn't bother being polite.

"Ay move or I'll run ye over!" I hissed at some thirteen year olds.

They scurried out my way. Smirking I pushed forward plugging my headphones into my phone and shoving the buds in my ears. I was going to turn on music but stopped as my eyes landed on a child.

She look no older than five, she had brown hair and big blue eyes that looked tired. She coughed tugging on her mothers sleeve. The child looked sick, "Mommy, mommy," she moaned in pain.

Her eyes looked slightly red and her skin looked a greenish color as if she were sea sick. Her mother shushed her and continued on her phone. Frowning stopped riding watching the child and mother who were standing by the shop acrossed the one I was outside.

I looked at the bowl of apples looking real quick I grabbed on putting it in my mouth moving away. Just as I bit into it a dog let out a bark and a voice spoke, "I hope you were going to pay for that.

I turned sighing looking at the cop. Which wasn't much he had brown messy hair and freckles. He wore a uniform which a gun in his belt along with a taser, walky talky, handcuff, set of keys  and a flash light. He was scrawny im sure he would look more without the bullet proof vest.

"We ye see aye-" quickly I hopped on my board and started to ride off.

I heard him shout after me but I ignored him quickly riding around people. I through the apple behind me looking nack only to see the officer trip murmuring some curse words. Just as I thought I lost him I was knocked to the ground.

A large black dog with greenish eyes sat on my chest growling in my face, "Good job bud," the office gasped as he finally caught up.

"Ay get this beast of uh me," I demand.

"That beast has a name its Toothless," the officer tells me.

Looking at the growling dog with a mouth full of teeth I scoffed. Toothless yah right. The dog hot off me and the boy pulled me to my feet. His name tag read Haddock.

"Your under arrest for..."

"Yah hear it before, know me rights," I groaned.

He frowns pulling out his handcuffs. Just as he was about to put one on me, I attempted to take them and put them on him which end with my right hand and  his left handcuffed. He groaned.

"Really look what you did," Haddock pointed.

As I looked at him I could see he was about my age. Which was weird he seemed young to be a cop or even a mall cop. "Aye zip it this is the closes ye ever been to a girl, consider ye self lucky ay messed up."

He opened his mouth but was blocked by a scream. He to started to run towards it forgetting the handcuffs causing me to jerk fowards and him back which end in us hitting heads.

"Ow!" We growled.

"Sorry," he says.

"Apologie not except, " I replied.

He ignored me before taking my hand and pulling me with him. His dog behind us, quickly I grabbed my board. I couldn't see were the scream came from at first because people were running away blocking my veiw.

I nearly pucked at the sight. The little girl that looked sick was pulling flesh out of her mothers stomach shoving it in her little mouth. The mother screaming stopped, the little girl looked at the people running she jumped up.

Her eyes were a greenish color blood coming out like tears.  The girl attacked another person bitting into a mans ankle. Just as she did that the girls mother sat up now with the same eyes and half her insides on the outside of her body.

The mother repeated the actions of her daughter grabbing a elderly woman pulling her to the floor."Shoot them!" I yelled at the cop.

"I can its not loaded!" He cried holding up the empty gun, "The other guy won't give me amo, they think I can't handle a gun!"

I ran my free hand through my hair screaming in frustration, "Of all cops ay had ta be cuffed ta the one who doesn't 'ave a loaded gun!"

Suddenly there was the sound of glasses breaking and more screams. The cop boy pulled me towards were it came from. The front doors of the mall were broken and more of the flesh eating things poured in.

I turned away grabbing the buy his vest, "Do somethin!" I cried.

He pulled out his walky talky, "This is a emergency, need back up, do you copy," there was no reply, "I repeat this is a emergency,  do you copy...this is-" he was cut off by one of the things tackling him.

The talky went over the side falling down to the first floor landing in a plant. The thing was a woman with blood on her face and flesh in her teeth. She snapped her jaws at the cope. With all my strength I threw her over the side of the railing.

I could here the craking of her bones as she hit the floor. My fingers shook as I watched the thing stand back up and attack some teenaged boy. The blood from the thing coated my hands. "Thank you," Haddock says his eyes widen in shock.

As more of the fleshys made there way up the stairs I pulled Haddock hard, "We have to get theses cuffs off and out of here!"

We ran quickly threw the sworm of fleshys and there dinner. I could here the crys of people and the ripping of there flesh. A sound that would haunt me forever.  Haddock pulled me to the right hard causing me to stumble nearly dropping my board.

"Were are we going?!" I demand.

"To the elevator we can uses it to take to the basement, theres a extra set of keys, and other supplies," he explained.

Just then something grabbed my leg causing me to fall taking Haddock with me. I screamed as the fleshy tryed to sink its teeth into my ankle.  I attempted to kick it away and uses my boad to hit it but it still didn't let ago.

Just before it could bite me Haddock pulled me out of its gripp and to my feet, "Come on keep moving!" He says.

My adrenaline was pumping and I trembled terribly. Tears fell down my cheeks when we reached the elevator doors that had blood splattered acrossed it Hiccup hit the down button. Toothless scratched the doors.

My eyes widened as I looked at the group of fleshes making there way towards us moaning and groaning,  "There comin open the damn doors!" I screeched.

"Im trying!" Just then the doors slid open and dove in. With my fist I pounded the basement button. The doors slowly slid shut.

I gribbed on to Haddock as the fleshys got closer. Just before one could get in the doors sealed. I let out a releaved sigh. But my relief was cut short when the elevator suddenly stopped and the lights shut off all besides the emergency red one.

I then started laughing it was a crazy laugh. I fell to the ground my wrist hanging above my head slightly because of the cuffs, "Whats so funny?!" The cop excalimed.

"The powers off, " I continued laughing intill I was choking, "Were gonna die in here, were stuck!"

He sat next to me shaking me slightly, "Were not gonna die!" He assured, "Were just gonna be in here for awhile, im sure the government knows whats going on and they'll send someone to get us."

"How do ye know there not the reason for this?!" I demand.

"I don't, but were not gonna die I promise-" he pauses.

"Merida," I finished, "My names Merida."

"Hiccup," he says.

I let out a giggle, "Im sorry."

"Hey its okay, I get it Hiccups a weird stupid name," he says.

I shook my head leaning it on his shoulder, "Ive heard worses," this was lie but it was the least I could say for him helping me, "Thanks Hiccup for everything."

"Don't thank me, we hand cuffed, and stuck in a elevator because of me," he sighs.

"Well were both alive," I reminded, "So yes ay have the right ta thank ya, and right now im just glad were in 'ere and not out there."

"Yah," he says, "For now."
