Fading
As children run around and play, I warm the water in the pond, open the flowers, and create a gust of wind, sending a man's papers flying through the park. I laugh hysterically as he run to retrieve them.
I run to the forest and quickly climbs tree. When I reach the top, I jump without a second thought and the wind throws me up.
I fly over people and houses till I reach my forest. I let go and the wind that carries me is gone and I plummet down and land in a lake. The same lake my brother fell into all those years ago.
I walk back to shore and wring out my hair. Its hard to believe, but in all the excitement, I still have my staff. I chuck as I stroll back to my cave. When I move the moss curtain, I use my pointer finger, throwing it back and then at the fire pit, starting a fire.
"Well, well, well, look who's finally back." Someone says and then laughs evilly.
I spin towards the voice, but it's gone.
"Went up to the North didn't you? Well then, the guardians know now thanks to you." Pitch spat as I back up against the wall of the cave.
The fire goes out and there's barely any light; the only light is the glow coming from the glass ball atop my staff.
"W-what do you want Pitch?" I ask as my voice quivers.
Pitch's voice echoes when he laughs. I hold my staff high and ready.
"You're afraid of the boogie man and the Man in the Moon wants to make you a guardian? How foolish!" Pitch laughs
I still can't see him in the darkness. All a sudden a hand lands on my shoulder, and I almost immediately jerk away, breathing heavily and running to the middle of the cave.
Pitch steps closer so I step back and I feel something strange. When I look, I see pure, black sand.
"You're not a Guardian, join me and we can get rid of the real Guardians. We will be believed in together. You will rule the day and I will rule the night!"
"No, we'll be feared not believed in. You know that!" I accuse
"It's the same thing!" He counters and she laughs bitterly.
"No it's not Pitch. I may not be a guardian but I'm definitely not like you." I shot back, jabbing my staff at him. His smile fades and all sign of humor has vanished.
"So be it." He says. The next thing I know I'm surrounded by black sand.
