Chapter 17: The Warren

They all went to the elevator, ready to bring Easter to the world.

"Bunny is right. As much as it pains me to say, old friend, this time, Easter is more important than Christmas," North declared.

"Hey, did everyone hear that?" Bunny asked in astonishment.

"Wow. Never thought I'd hear that," Cupid commented.

"We must hurry to the warren. Everyone! To the sleigh!" North told them.

"Oh, no, mate. My warren, my rules. Buckle up," Bunny said then tapped his foot.

"Yes!" Cupid cheered.

"Shostakovich!" North gasped.

Then a huge hole opened under them and they fell in. Bunny hopped through it, Tooth, Baby Tooth, North, an elf and two yetis slid down it, and Jack and Cupid surfed down it expertly. They all then made it, Tooth and Baby Tooth hovering clumsily, North, the elf, and the yetis laying on their backs, and Bunny, Jack, and Cupid landing perfectly.

"'Buckle up.' Is very funny," North told Bunny, sitting up.

"You never get used to it," Cupid smiled.

Bunny chuckled then told everyone, "Welcome to the warren."

Then Bunny heard something unfamiliar in one of his tunnels.

"Something's up," he informed.

They all prepared their weapons then charged for the tunnel then stopped when they saw Sophie in front of them, holding three unpainted eggs with feet.

"Sophie?" Jack asked and they all put their weapons away.

"Elf, elf, elf!" Sophie cheered as she chased the elf.

"What is she doing here?" Bunny asked.

"Ah, snow globe," North realized.

"Crikey! Somebody do something," Bunny said.

"Oh, don't look at us. Jack and I are invisible, remember?" Cupid reminded.

"Elf! Elf!" Sophie continued as she dragged the elf around.

"Don't worry, Bunny. I bet she's a fairy fan," Tooth assured, getting Sophie's attention, then told her, "It's okay, little one."

"Pretty," Sophie said to her.

"Oh! You know what? I've got something for you! Here it is! Look at all the pretty teeth, with little blood and gum on them!" Tooth said, showing her the teeth in her hand.

In response, Sophie screamed and ran off.

"'Blood and gums'? When was the last time you guys actually hung out with kids?" Jack wondered.

"Peek-a-boo!" Sophie exclaimed as she chased some eggs in a small tunnel then around the place.

"We are very busy bringing joy to children. We don't have time...for children," North answered as Sophie chased some butterflies.

"What I do is normally for adults, so that explains me," Cupid reminded.

"Okay, that makes sense," Jack told her then added while letting a snowflake go, "But if one little kid can ruin Easter, then we're in worse shape than I thought."

Sophie chased the snowflake for a minute until it landed on Bunny's face. Magic appeared over his eyes before smiling and going to Sophie. They watched an egg come out of a flower before they looked at each other.

"You want to paint some eggs? Yeah?" Bunny asked.

"Okay," Sophie nodded.

"Come on," Bunny told her.

Then uncountable eggs came out to be painted.

"Rimsky-Korsakov! That's a lot of eggs," North commented.

"Uh, how much time do we have?" Jack asked.

"Less than a day," Cupid answered.

Bunny then had Sophie on his back and they hopped threw the warren as eggs were colored.

"I have never seen this side of Bunny," Cupid said.

"Is that good or bad?" Jack asked.

"Most likely good, but I'll let you know," she answered, making him chuckle.

"All right, troops, it's time to push back. That means eggs everywhere! Heaps of you in every high-rise, farmhouse, and trailer park! In tennis shoes and cereal bowls. Oh, there will be bathtubs filled with my beautiful googies!" Bunny explained as Sophie rode on some eggs and North waved to her.

The colored eggs then hopped in the paint river, the elf accidentally joining them, and North picked one up.

"Okay, that's a little strange," North said.

"No, mate. That's adorable," Bunny corrected while holding some eggs.

The painted eggs then got out of the paint river, as well as the elf, before following Sophie in some sort of march.

"There will be springtime! On every continent! And I'm bringing hope with me!" Bunny continued.

Then the eggs and elf were given patterns before heading for the main tunnel. One of the yetis was finishing up a red egg.

"Too Christmas-y, mate. Paint them blue," Bunny said as he hopped by.

The yeti groaned as he just finished a second pyramid of red eggs.

Then Bunny took Sophie to the main tunnel.

"Oh, what's over there?" Bunny asked her, she grabbed an egg, brought it to him, then he continued while bringing her out the tunnel, "Oh, that's a beauty! Now, all we got to do is get him and his little mates through the tunnels to the top and we'll have ourselves Easter."

They then went to watch the eggs head to the tunnels for each continent with Jack beside them before Sophie cuddled in Bunny's arms.

"Not bad," Jack said before Sophie fell asleep.

"Not bad yourself," Bunny returned with a smile.

"Look, I'm sorry about the whole...you know, the kangaroo thing," Jack apologized.

"It's the accent, isn't it?" Bunny said, making them chuckle.

"You two getting along?" Cupid asked by them while flying upside down then whisper-yelled, "It's a miracle!"

The two laughed quietly as she landed by them and Tooth, Baby Tooth, and North joined them.

"Oh, poor little ankle-biter. Look at her. All tuckered out," Bunny said.

"I love her," Tooth replied.

"Yeah. She's great," Cupid nodded.

"I think it's time to get her home," Tooth decided, gently taking Sophie from Bunny.

"How about Cupid and I take her home?" Jack suggested as they all stood up.

"Jack, no. Pitch is..." Tooth started to object.

"No match for us," Jack finished.

"Which is why we need you both here with us," Bunny said.

"Trust us. We'll be quick as bunnies," Cupid assured.

They hesitantly agreed and Jack and Cupid took Sophie home.
