Chapter 11: Blizzard Disturbance
With most of the team missing and battling other generals on different ships, Spark and Mark continue down a new hallway.
"We're almost to the king," Spark said, excited for the intense battle to come. "I can feel it."
"It's my turn next," Mark grinned.
Up ahead, they could see a bright light. They both knew what that meant and got their hopes up for the battle to come.
This arena was bright, bitterly cold, and filled with sharp ice. Wind bit around different sized rocks laying like traps on the ground.
"It's freezing in here," Spark said.
A creature of ice and snow stepped out from behind the largest rock. Eyes of steel glared at them. Any heart the creature had once had, had long since frozen.
"Yes," Windrow said. "This is my ship."
Mark approached his enemy in the ice land terrain. A little concerned. He'd never fought in such a place. Never thought he'd have to.
They ran at each other to start their battle. Yet Mark quickly saw that Windrow was more suited to this environment, as he began to skate and create ice as he slid across the room.
Mark took precautions and started to analyze his enemy. Windrow didn't give him much time to do so though. He charged at Mark at full speed. Mark leaned into the attack, landing a three-piece combination on the enemy to push him back.
"Way to go Mark!" Spark yelled. "Get him!"
As the fight continued, Spark scanned the surroundings and found the next hallway.
"Hey Mark," he said. "You look like you got things covered, I'm going on ahead."
"An insult!" Windrow yelled. "How dare you think you can talk while fighting me!"
He started running in a circle and created a fierce ice tornado. This tornado grew in size rapidly until it was thrown directly towards Mark.
"What is this?" Mark said.
He disappeared into the tornado and reappeared in the sky. As he glided through the air, he dropped explosive stick bombs on the enemy and then disappeared again. The stick bombs exploded and knocks Windrow back against sharp rocks.
Mark reappeared a distance away. He landed on the ground and quickly went into a meditation in the middle of the fight, knowing it was the best way to bring out the strength of his powers.
"Why must this earthling always underestimate me?" Windrow yelled.
He threw ice shards at Mark to teach him a lesson in respect. Immediately Mark noticed the attack and using his higher power, he created five clones that sprinted towards the enemy.
Two of the clones got hit by the ice shards and disappeared. Mark and the other clones dodged all the remaining ice shards, allowing Mark to go in for a direct hit. Windrow blocked the attack and countered back with a heavy ice punch and it landed... Only to find out that it was a clone.
Two more clones headed towards Windrow and did a combined attack in an attempt to hit Windrow. Just before landing their attack, the real Mark came from the back and went in for a finishing blow on Windrow's skull. But Windrow sensed Mark and dodged just in time, sending Mark spinning.
"Try again earthling," Windrow laughed.
The battle was a fierce but an equal duel. Mark threw his smoke bomb and vanished. Windrow, finally fed up with Mark's disappearing acts, formed an ice sword to finish off his vanishing enemy. "
"I'm tired of your tricks ninja," he said. "Come out and fight."
Mark reappeared with his two kamas and the battle persisted. With equal combat that wasn't getting anywhere, Mark soon realized his enemy was very fast. Too fast.
"Man," he mumbled to himself. "Why does it seem like this guy is getting faster all of a sudden?"
As he grew more tired, Windrow didn't even seemed fazed at all. He had a boundless supply of strength. Of energy.
"There's something wrong here, I know it," said Mark.
Mark knew he had to finish the battle off soon. The fight had been prolonged, and he was running out of energy. So, he kicks it into full power in an attempt to finally end this. He ducked as Windrow slashed with his sword, just in time for the sword to shatter against a rock.
"What did you just do to my sword!" Windrow yelled.
All of the ice fell to the ground, useless as Windrow stared at his sword in pieces. Windrow was stunned. Nervous.
With this opening, Mark kicked him in his chest, sending him sliding back. Windrow regained his balance and ran back into battle. He started to skate again and created thick ice running towards Mark.
Once again, Mark didn't move. He closed his eyes and focused. Meditated while his enemy dashed towards him. Mark listened to the wind and honed into his surroundings, searching for that perfect moment where he could make a move.
Mark opened his eyes as the enemy got close enough and pulled out his weapons. In that moment, both of them unleashed a quick, finishing blow. Both flew off slowly into their own direction. It got very silent as they stood in place.
Then Mark's weapon flew out of nowhere and slashed the enemy in the back. After the damage was endured by both the enemy and Mark, Windrow heard a ticking sound. He looked down and saw a bomb planted on him by Mark seconds before it exploded.
The enemy, out witted by the vanishing ninja, met defeat and fell to the ground. Mark slowly walked toward the enemy's body to find boots glowing at the enemy's feet.
As the shoes glowed, Mark slowly put them on in a trance. A quick shock reverberated through his body. Once the shock of the shoes wore off, Mark looked down to see the boots morphed into whatever kind of shoes he needed.
"What is the point of these little slippers?" Mark wondered.
