Chapter 13> the Battle
Jack Frost-
They came all at once, freaking us out. All those nightmares were rushing at us. Everyone started to try to shield themselves; Elsa and I with our ice, Merida with a ball of heat, Hiccup with a wall of vines, and Rapunzel with extra plants on her pan. Because they weren't as close by as the Four, I couldn't tell what was happening with the other Guardians.
I saw a whip of light and realized Sandy was trying to scissor through the swarm of black. With the sudden light, I noticed actual figures of the nightmare horses, and then... people?
No way, was Pitch telling the truth? Did he really have other allies?
This made me mad. Elsa was just a test drive, I bet. I noticed Elsa was the most confused when he spoke of his other allies. Pitch really was heartless, to play with Elsa's mind in such a way.
But one thing was for sure, Pitch was a conniving, deceptive villian. He knew what he was doing from the start and fooled us all.
And I just used a bunch of big words for a guy I despise the most in this world.
I heard a yelp and a crash to my right. I turned my head and noticed Elsa trying to hold off a figure from the ground, her fingertips frosting over. Abandoning my shield, I ran to her side and tackled down the figure. As I landed, my legs landed on Elsa's stomach and the figure struggled out of my grip. I cursed under my breath for not destroying it. Elsa pushed my legs off and helped me up as she stood too.
"What's going on?" she asked looking around at the vast swarm. I looked around too, and instantly felt hopeless.
There were too many of them. We can definitely put up a good fight, but it doesn't seem to matter. We were overly outnumbered and taken by surprise.
I looked back at Elsa and she was looking at me expectantly, her big blue eyes warped with fear.
I gulped and told her the truth. "I don't know."
Merida~
Hiccup, Rapunzel, and I were standing back to back, warding off the mass as much as we could. Jack, Elsa, and the others were lost in the darkness as we began to form a dome of our powers together.
Once the dome was completed, we turned to face each other, the noise of the battle muffled around us.
"This won't last for long," Hiccup said as he looked at the dome and did mental calculations. Rapunzel dropped her hair to the floor, panting for breath and looked to us. I looked at the dome myself and noticed spring flowers on Hiccup's vines that had an otherworldly glow from my ball of hot summer light. I looked back to the two and they looked at me.
"Do you know what happened to everyone else?" Rapunzel asked.
I shook my head. "No idea."
"Me neither, it was too... dark," Hiccup said, and I could see the fear written across his face.
Rapunzel looked as if she was about to cry. "I-I don't why, but I feel so... cold and lost."
"I think it's the nightmares, they're affecting us," I answered. "I can feel it too."
Rapunzel nodded and rubbed her arms. She took deep breaths to keep herself from bursting into tears, but I could tell she was struggling.
All three of us gasped when we heard a crack in the dome. Then several more cracking and snapping noises erupted from one side of the dome.
Hiccup pulled us into him and lowered his head as the dome came crashing down.
Rapunzel~
I yelped as we fell over. I looked up and noticed the black swarm had diminished some. I was able to see the figures clearer.
I jumped up as Hiccup helped Merida up. Instantly, I began to use my hair and whipped at the Shades coming towards us. They screeched and toppled downwards. I noticed Hiccup firing thorns at them, penetrating their see-through bodies and ultimately killing them. Merida was using her sword and burned the ones that came too close.
I continued to whip them, for I couldn't find my pan. I began to see clearly as wisps of Sandy's dream sand slashed through bodies. I saw Jack and Elsa back to back, spearing the Shades with their ice. North was bashing at the nightmares, Bunnymund was slicing them with his boomerang, and Tooth was tackling anything that came near her, her mini tooth fairies distracting them and tiring them.
As I whipped down another three Shades, I spotted my pan across the sundial. Determined, I dashed towards the pan and slid across the floor as I halted on top of the sundial. Dropping down, I swept up my pan. Just as I was about to straighten and return to battle, I suddenly felt dizzy.
Against my will, I turned to look down at the sundial and crouched towards it. I involuntarily began to sing, as if I were in a trance...
Flower gleam and glow,
Let your power shine,
Make the clock reverse,
Bring back what once was mine.
Heal what has been hurt,
Change the fates design,
Save what has been lost,
Bring back what once was mine.
What once was mine...
My hair was glowing, the sundial was glowing, and I...
I was falling.
...Out of bed. I was back in my tower. Then again, where else would I be?
