Chapter 11> A Change Within Us
Rapunzel~
I sat up slowly, looking at my glowing hair in confusion. I noticed the pain and heat were gone though... replaced by the freezing cold of the snow around me.
"Wha-what happened?" I whispered.
"You, Merida, and Hiccup got a fever and just dropped." I jumped when I heard Jack speak.
"Jack... why am I surrounded by snow?" My hands were in fists as I tried to fight off the cold. They felt full suddenly. Looking down, I noticed crushed flowers in them. Furrowing my brows, I looked back up and asked, "And why did you give me flowers?"
Elsa stood up from a chair behind Jack. I held my flinch back at the sight of them together. Why am I like this?
"We didn't give you flowers," Elsa said in confusion. Jack came forward and looked at the flowers in my palms.
I dropped the flowers onto my lap and held one of Jack's hands. "Help me out? It's freezing," I said. I shuddered... and all of a sudden a vine of flowers curled around the arm I held onto. Shocked, I let go and looked at my hands again.
"Rapunzel? What is this?" Jack removed the vine and looked at it.
"Don't you dare tell me I have snowflakes in my hair!" We all looked in Merida's direction in fear.
Merida~
"Arrgh!" I growled, shaking my head for the snowflakes to fall out. "The nerve!" I turned to Jack, a glare on my face. The fever was gone, but my face was now burning with anger. "How dare--" Suddenly, I felt water around me. Looking down, I gasped at the sight of puddles in my lap.
"It's melting Jack! What an idiot idea it was to put snow all over us."
"Why did it melt so fast?" Elsa asked.
"Excuse me?" I said in her direction. Her eyes widened in fear and she backed up.
"I-I just noticed it melt really quickly. You j-just woke up, and you were in a huge pile of snow."
I opened my mouth to respond, but then I felt something squeeze my hand. Looking down, I noticed Hiccup's hand on mine. Was I still woozy, or was his hand slightly bigger? I shook that off and noticed him buried in his snow.
"Hiccup!" I called and I noticed movement beneath the snow. He's alive! Using my open hand, I dug through the snow. "It's okay, you'll get out. I've got you, I... whoa..."
I couldn't help but stop my progress when I saw his face. His face...
Hiccup-
I blinked my eyes open and looked up at Merida. Her deep blue eyes were widened as she stared at my face.
"Merida! Wh-what's wrong?" Why was she staring at me like that?
"Merida, what are you doing?" Jack asked in frustration and I heard his footsteps come closer. "Hiccup, are you-- whoa..."
"What the-- guys! Get me out of here!" I yelled. They snapped out of it and started shoveling snow away with their hands. I sat up and brushed the snow away, grumbling at their behavior. When I turned to look at Elsa and Rapunzel, they both gasped.
"Why is everyone so shocked to see me?" I demanded. "Is it really such a surprise that the fishbone survived?"
"Pfft. Fishbone? Hardly," Jack said.
I rolled my eyes. "Have you seen me lately? I'm super narrow!"
"I have seen you. And I'm seeing you right now too. You're not narrow."
"That's it," I grumbled and got out of the bed. Is it just me, or was I a little taller? I shook the thought away and went to the mirror in the room. What I saw made me stop dead in my tracks.
I was taller. And my hair was fluffier, with more attractive bangs. My face was somehow angular, and my freckles were nearly gone. I looked at my arms and realized they were leaner instead of just skinny. My legs too, and longer. My chest was also broader and wider in a more young manly way.
"Whoa..." was all I could manage.
"Told you," Jack said. "But you didn't listen."
"How'd this happen?"
"How are we supposed to know?" Merida asked, frustrated.
I shrugged. I'd like to think I have an answer to everything, but this... was way over my head. The sudden growth was unnatural and unexplainable. It made no sense!
"You guys dropped when the fever hit, and all of a sudden this happened," Elsa explained.
"But why?" Rapunzel asked. I noticed that as she calmed down, her hair started to dim. Could it have been an effect from the magic of her hair?
I snapped my fingers to get their attention when suddenly, a burst of leaves scattered around. Bewildered, they stared at me. I shrugged nervously.
"What?" I asked.
"How'd you do that?" Jack asked.
"I didn't do anything." Jack glared at the three of us in turn.
"Can someone please explain why you guys have powers that you kept hidden?" Jack huffed.
"What powers?" Merida asked. "We have powers?" she muttered in my direction.
I pointed to my head. "If powers can explain this face, then I'm willing to go with it."
"I don't think anything's wrong with the face, it's the powers I'm worried about." I tried not to overthink the thing about my face. Was that a compliment?
"Rapunzel? What are you doing?" Elsa suddenly asked. I looked to see Rapunzel playing with some flowers... and making them twirl in the air.
"You guys were fighting and I got bored. So I made flowers."
"You made flowers?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Why? Are you allergic?" she asked innocently. "I happen to like flowers in the Spring."
"In the Spring...?" I started to contemplate this. If Jack controls snow and ice, he must control winter. Rapunzel conjured flowers, Merida melted her patch of snow in seconds, and I made random leaves appear.
Jack started going off about how Rapunzel doesn't even know Spring because she was in a tower all her life. She counter attacked with the fact that she was given educational books and still had a window to see the seasons change.
Merida butt in about how Jack needs to calm down and Elsa was trying to politely interject her thoughts, but she was too quiet compared to their arguments. Having no other choice, I imagined dry vines wrapping around Jack, Rapunzel, and Merida. It suddenly shot out if my hands and trapped them. Elsa stood to the side with a look of, "that's what you get" written across her pale face.
"What? Hiccup, let us go!" Merida said struggling.
"Not until you listen." When they stopped struggling, I began to speak. "Don't you get it? Jack's winter snow, Rapunzel's spring flowers, Merida's summer heat, and my fallen leaves? We're not just any Big Four, we're the big four seasons!"
Silence. And then a tornado of more arguments and accusations thrown in my direction.
This is going to take a while.

A/N: yes, I know I suck at updating, but it's hard. Writing takes time and I don't always have that. I'll try to be better at it, but for now, please bear with me. I'll try harder, I promise!
Thanks! :)
