Chapter 5
Rippletail looked up at the sun. It was almost sun-high. Oakstar has yet announced his decision. She had been given a tiny mouse that morning, not that she cared. She was barely hungry. Rippletail looked around camp. They look more friendlier. I just hope Oakstar says yes. If not where should I go? Auroraclan? Rippletail snapped out of her thoughts as a kit bounded up to her. She smiled as it curiously sniffed at her.
"Who are you," the kit squeaked. "You smell weird."
Rippletail laughed, which surprised her. She hadn't laughed since she became an apprentice. "My name is Rippletail. And I probably smell weird to you because I came from Thunderclan. What's your name?"
"Sandkit! You're from Thunderclan?! Why are you here? Are you a prisoner?"
"No," she purred. "I'm not a prisoner. As for why I'm here, you'll find out soon enough, either from your mother or Oakstar."
Sandkit's smile and bubbly self changed drastically.
"What's wrong?"
"Both of my parents are dead. I don't have a mother."
"Rippletail frowned. "I'm sorry," she said sympathetically. "I don't have a mother either. She died when I was born." Rippletail started to feel awkward. But the feeling didn't stay for long. All the warriors had surrounded Oakstar who had just summoned them.
"I have discussed Rippletail's fate with Goldenheart, and we have decided to let Rippletail become apart of Tun-"
"Not so fast." Rippletail's heart sank as she slowly turned around to the source of the voice.
It was Bluestar. She was standing at the camp entrance with Ironclaw, Snakeheart, Coltfoot, and some other cats of Thunderclan.
"I believe that Rippletail is Thunderclan, NOT Tunnelclan."
"Bluestar," Oakstar muttered annoyingly. "What are you doing here?"
"Retrieving my warrior."
"She isn't your warrior anymore."
"Says who?"
The two started to argue back and forth. Rippletail backed away from the two leaders. The two clans were on the verge of a battle. Soon, they were fighting. Who do I fight? Thunderclan, with the clan I was since I was a kit...or Tunnelclan, the clan I want? The choice that would choose the rest of my life. A unhappy warrior in Thunderclan, or the start of a new life in Tunnelclan. Luckily Rippletail, didn't have to choose. Snakeheart, her former mentor had attacked her, making her choice clear. She didn't like fighting him, but she can tell that Snakeheart didn't mind at all. Snakeheart clawed at her leg, Rippletail scratched his cheek. Very soon, the two were tired. Both battered up. Rippletail stepped away from the battle to catch her breath. Is this battle my fault? If I hadn't come here, this wouldn't have happened. What would Oakstar say after the battle? Would he send me back to Thunderclan? Her thoughts were interrupted as a cat leapt at her. She quickly rolled over and clawed its belly. Rippletail jumped up as she realized that it was Snakeheart. He came back for her.
Snakeheart was weary. He fell over, and heard Rippletail's startled yelp. He was going to die. Rippletail backed away from Snakeheart, fear in her eyes. What have I done? Rippletail frantically looked around. She had to end this battle somehow. But someone beated her to it.
"Bluestar! Snakeheart' dead," yelled Coltfoot as he saw his friend's dead body. Bluestar looked at her fallen clanmates and signaled for her warriors to retreat. Coltfoot picked up the body and ran after his clanmates. Bluestar looked at Oakstar. "Keep her if you must. She is no use to us!" With that, she swiftly ran out of the camp and back to Thunderclan territory.
"Well," grumbled Oakstar. "I guess you're staying with us, Rippletail."
Rippletail nodded. She would be apart of Tunnelclan.
A/N: I'm pretty sure there was someone named Coltfoot... Anyways this story is almost over, just 2-4 chapters left.
