Chapter 35
Hello! I am back with another chapter. I'm getting kind of emotional cause we're nearing the end of this story. It's insane and I'm in complete disbelief that this story is almost over. I've been working on it for almost two years now. It's crazy. I'm not going to get much into that now, since we do still have a while to go. I'm just preparing you all for my craziness that you will experience during the last chapters of my story. As for this chapter, it picks off right where we left with the last one. Let's get into it.
Things didn't work out the way the boys had hoped. The cops had raided the gang's hideout and arrested all the men there. They got all the men spying on them, but were unable to grab Sangsoo. The leader was nowhere to be found. The cops had pressed the men, but weren't able to get much out of them. Some admitted to the crimes and others remained stubborn. None mentioned anything about Sangsoo or Theodore. In the end, the cops could only arrest the ones they had evidence against and those that admitted to being guilty. The rest had to be let out. It wasn't ideal, but the cops were able to bag some. Jimin had kept the boys updated on the process, but none of it was very helpful to them. Jimin had pressed the man watching Jungkook. The gang member had told him that Theodore had retracted his deal with the gang and that was it. That's the only thing that they got about Theodore from this whole situation. The gang became a loose end for the boys. It was supposed to be their way to Theodore, but with him dropping the gang, they had nothing to go off of. The cops were happy, but the boys not so much. They were glad that they didn't have to deal with a gang, but their hopes were starting to go up. They had thought that they would finally be going home. They really thought that this was their chance. It hurt that the chance died so quick. Their belief in returning to their original timeline wavered. They all tried to return to their 'lives'. They tried to keep a smile on their faces, even though they felt like crap on the inside.
--------------
Jimin shuffles through his file cabinet. He sighs as he does so, his eyes darting back and forth. "Hey, Park!" An officer shouts from the doorway. Jimin hums, his eyes not moving from the filing cabinet. "Park? Did you hear me?" The officer exclaims. Jimin sighs and nods his head, he hasn't been in the happiest mood as of late. He guesses that the way he's acting is kind of rude and stuff, but Jimin can't be bothered by it. Nothing seems to be looking up for him, no matter how hard he works. If that's the way it is, he might as well not give as much of a crap. All of his efforts are useless anyway. After all he's been through, he deserves to just be mute and ignorant to the whole world. "C'mon, Park. I can't tell if you nodded or not," The officer continues. Jimin rolls his eyes as he closes a folder within the cabinet. Can he not give it his all sometimes? Can he not be bothered? Let him fume in peace. Let him be moody for once. Jeez. People are so annoying. They always expect you to be present. "Yes...yes...I'm listening," Jimin mutters.
"Okay, great. There's this girl here that says she wants to talk to you. She says that you know her," The officer says. Jimin sighs for the nth time and slams the cabinet shut. "I don't know any girl," Jimin huffs, turning around to face the officer. He stiffens instantly, recognizing the girl standing beside the officer. She's wearing a simple cardigan and wire glasses are perched on her head. Her hair falls into her face and she offers Jimin a small smile. Jimin blinks a couple times, trying to figure out if this is real or not. Standing in the police station is none other than Selina Cullen. Theodore's little sister. "What are you doing here?" Jimin asks.
"Park, try to be a little kinder, she is just a civilian," The officer says, "I'll leave you with him. Is that okay, Ms. Cullen?"
Selina nods her head, "Yes, thank you." The officer walks out and Jimin runs his hand through his hair. He hasn't seen Selina since they were still gathering intel on her brother. That was a couple of months ago. Jimin didn't expect to see the girl again. He didn't expect to see her in the police station. Selina walks over to where he stands and gives him a small wave. "It's been a while hasn't it, Officer Park," Selina says.
"It has," Jimin says, "How did you find me? I don't remember telling you my name."
"Oh, I saw Park on your badge and I asked about you based off of your looks," Selina says, "The other cops pointed me in the right direction."
Jimin nods, "Of course they did. Not to be rude, but really, why are you here?"
"My friend wanted to stop by to report something to the police. I tagged along, cause I remembered you mentioning something about my brother being involved in not so good things. I was wondering if you could tell me more about that." Jimin's eyes widen and his eyes dart around the room. There are a couple of cops sitting around, but they didn't seem to hear what Selina said. Jimin nods and gestures for her to follow him. There's no harm in talking to Selina. Who knows maybe he'll find out something useful? Ha...as if. Jimin leads Selina down the hall towards an empty interrogation room. When they enter, Jimin shuts the door behind him and tells Selina to take a seat. "Could we not have talked out there?" Selina asks.
Jimin shakes his head, "No...uh...your brother's case is a bit of a kept under wraps sort of one. Not everyone knows about it or is allowed to."
"Of course," Selina mutters, "I want to know more about the investigation on my brother. Did he actually do something illegal? Did he do something wrong?" Jimin hesitates, not knowing how to answer the girl. Theodore did do something. He did more than something. Between changing time, dropping roofs on heads, and partnering with gangs, Theodore has done a lot. It's not like he could tell Selina all of that. "I can take it," Selina states, "Don't hold back the truth from me because you think I can't handle it. I can."
Jimin nods and chooses his next words carefully, "Your brother has done something. I am not allowed to disclose what that is, but it wasn't right. Your brother did a lot of things and very few of those things were legal." Selina gapes at Jimin's words, in utter shock over the reveal about her brother. "I-I can't believe it," Selina states, clenching her hands, "I never would've thought my brother would do such a thing."
"I'm sorry," Jimin says, placing his hand on top of hers.
Selina shakes her head, "It's not your fault. You're just doing your job. I'm just surprised is all. I never expected Theo to do anything bad to anyone. He's always been so nice to me. He was the best brother I could've possibly asked for. He helped me out of a lot of dark times in my life. He's done everything he could to ensure I stay happy. He would always drive me around with no complaints and would be by my side when I needed him the most. I guess people change. I never would've expected something like this to come from Theodore..."
"Selina...last we talked you mentioned something about Theodore changing before you left for your foreign exchange program," Jimin says.
"I did. I remember," Selina says.
Jimin looks to the girl, "You said that he started to become more overprotective. Can you tell me more about that?"
"He started to treat me like a glass doll. It was like I wasn't allowed to do anything unless he deemed it safe. Whenever I would go out with my friends, he would trail behind us. It was kind of unnerving, but I know he did it because he was worried," Selina explains, "He was always concerned about my happiness. He would ask me every day if I'm happy or is there anyone bothering me. I never really understood why. I still don't." Jimin hums nodding his head. Theodore is just starting to sound like someone with issues. He obsessed over his sister to the point where she was uncomfortable. "He was the one that told me to go to Korea for college. He said if it made me happy I should go," Selina says, "Everything I did had to make me happy or I wasn't allowed to do it."
"Happy?" Jimin questions. Selina nods and Jimin's brow furrows. Why would Theodore be so focused on Selina's happiness? To the point that the only thing that seemed to matter is her happiness. It doesn't make sense. None of this explains why Theodore decided to go after Bangtan. "Yeah, it became a constant thing with him after a while," Selina says, "Happiness. Like it was the key to keeping everything perfect." Jimin nods, thinking about the word and how it relates to people. When do you ask someone often if they're happy? "When you're depressed..." Jimin mutters.
"Hm?" Selina says with a puzzled expression, "Did you say something?"
"Selina, I need you to be honest with me. This is a deep question and I know it may make you uncomfortable. If you don't want to answer, I won't force you to. But, if you decide to answer, please do it truthfully," Jimin says, "Were you depressed?"
Selina stiffens, but slowly nods her head, "I was...I said earlier I faced some dark times. Theodore helped me out of those."
"Are you still?" Jimin asks.
Selina shrugs, "Not as much. It comes back every once and a while, but other than that I'm happy. Like Theo wants me to be." Jimin nods his head, this sort of explained Theodore's obsession with his sister's happiness. He didn't want her to fall into a deeper state of depression. It still doesn't make sense how this all connects to the boys. "Officer Park, how sure are you that my brother is the one that committed all these crimes?" Selina asks, "I know you said he did it, but isn't there a chance you got the wrong guy."
Jimin shakes his head, "It's Theodore."
Selina sighs, "Why would he do this? It doesn't make sense. My brother was never a bad person."
"I know. From what you've told me about your brother, what he did doesn't add up," Jimin says, "I don't understand why he would go to such lengths or for what reason. He doesn't benefit from it. All that I've been able to gather from you is that he's been a helicopter brother. He's been very keen on keeping a close eye on you. He seems to be a mildly bit obsessive over the idea of keeping you safe. But, that has no relation to his case. You have nothing to do with this case."
"My brother always said he would do anything for me," Selina states, "I think that includes breaking the law."
Jimin's eyes widen, "Do you actually believe that?"
"Yes. My brother was always a bit much at times," Selina says, "I told you that it was unnerving. It creeped my friends and I out. Theo was always there. To the point where it seemed like I couldn't be somewhere that Theo wasn't. He was always behind me. Always following. Like a shadow." Jimin nods, taking in all of this information. Maybe, Selina is connected to all of this. Theodore's purpose in life seems to be protecting his little sister. It seems to be his only goal. But, why would that goal shift to making BTS suffer? Selina and the group have to have some sort of link. What does the group have to do with Selina? "Officer Park, did my brother follow me?" Selina asks in a quiet voice.
"What?" Jimin asks with concern.
"Did he follow me to Seoul?" Selina ask, her voice wavering, "Talking about Theodore and what he did and the way he acted...it makes him sound insane. I never saw it like that when I was younger, but I-I see it now..."
"Why do you think Theodore followed you?" Jimin asks, calmly.
Selina shifts in her seat, "He always followed me back home. He never let me out of his sights. The way he was...I doubt that changed when I moved here." Jimin frowns, he had never considered the fact that Theodore could still be following Selina. He had thought that Theodore's only goal is to mess with Bangtan. But, with all that Selina has told him, it's not impossible. "Also, the reason I'm here. I told you my friend wanted to tell the cops something," Selina says, "That something is a stalker report."
"A...stalker report?" Jimin says.
Selina nods, "We didn't notice until recently. My friend is also my roommate. She was saying how she felt like someone was watching her when we left the apartment. I started to get the same feeling when I was walking back from work and back from school. It was weird. No matter where we went we had this feeling that someone's eyes were on us. But, we would turn around and there wouldn't be anyone there. We didn't know if there actually was someone watching us or we were just being paranoid. We decided to do a stakeout to see if we were actually being stalked or not. We spotted a man in all black staring at us from an alley across the street. He was definitely watching us. His eyes bugged out of his head when he noticed us staring. We got a couple pictures too and we went to the cops. That's why we're here. And why I think that Theo followed me to South Korea."
"You think that guy you spotted is Theodore," Jimin states.
Selina nods, "It's crazy, isn't it. There's no way he followed me...right?"
Jimin bites his lower lip, "No...I think it actually may be him. He's still trying to protect you."
"I don't know if what he is doing can be considered protecting anymore," Selina says with a shiver," He's not going to stop just because we went to the cops. You know that, don't you?"
Jimin nods, "Yeah, I do. Don't worry Selina. We'll deal with your brother."
---------
Jimin leans against the wall of Hoseok's dance studio. The others are standing beside him. He had texted the chat and asked if they could all meet. Their hiatus needed to end. They needed to get back into things full time. They had met up at Hoseok's place and Jimin filled them in on what Selina had told him.
"We need to follow Selina. That's our way to Theodore," Jimin says.
"Are you sure?" Namjoon asks, "We don't have time for wild goose chases. All they do is bring us down."
Jimin nods, "You all still want our lives back, don't you?" The group all nod their heads. They want nothing more than to be done with this timeline and get back to theirs. "Then, we trail Selina and the person trailing her," Jimin says, "We get the jump on Theodore this time. For real. He doesn't know that we know about his relationship with his sister."
"How do we even know that Theodore is the one following Selina?" Jungkook asks.
Jimin shrugs, "We don't, but this is our only lead at the moment. This is our only connection to Theodore. If it isn't him, then we catch a creepy stalker. We can't not try."
"We need to do this," Yoongi says, "If we want to get back, we have no other choice."
"Agreed," Taehyung says.
Hoseok sighs, "Alright, what's the plan?"
"Selina already knows that we'll be following her. She's going to be heading to work at around 3:30. We'll follow her and hopefully catch sight of Theodore. If we do, we grab him" Jimin states, "We make him fix things. We show him that we're done with his stupid game and we want our lives back."
Another lead, another attempt to fix the timeline. The question is, will this time be successful? You'll have to wait and find out. Thank you for reading this chapter.
