Chp 1
1913
Somewhere in the Valley of the Nile a temple is being excavated.
"Aziz! Light!" The professor exclaimed. The volume of his voice woke the small boy holding a mirror used to reflect sunlight onto the wall of a chamber inside the temple where the professor was trying to translate the strange hieroglyphics. The professor's apprentice turned his sketchbook over and drew another tack, adding to the others with 'Aziz Light!' titling the page.
Outside the chamber, a priest approaches. Victor Cornelius came from a long line of priests who made a vow to protect the 'Fifth Element' and its secrets. He stops another young boy from entering the chamber with a leather bladder full of water. The boy had been sent to retrieve it for the professor and his apprentice. Victor takes the water stating he will give it to the professor. The boy leaves after the priest dismisses him.
Victor could hear the professor translating the hieroglyphs on the chamber walls and realizes the professor has almost finished it. "When the planets are in eclipse, a black hole like door is opened. Evil comes. The Ultimate Evil sowing terror and chaos every five thousand years."
The priest takes a vial of poison out of his robe pocket and pours it into the bladder of water then looks to the sky, "Forgive me...They know too much."
Victor continues to venture inside the chamber listening to the professor muttering to himself about the rest of the translation. "Then arrange the elements of life against the Terror. Water...Fire...Air...Earth. Surrounding a Fifth Element, in which all the history of the Universe resides. All the strength. All the hope. Protect us from evil."
The professor looks over the wall of hieroglyphs in amazement. Victor makes his presence known, "Amen." The professor turns to the priest, who is pouring some of the poisoned water into two tin cups. "Father, it is the most extraordinary thing. The greatest find in history. Can you imagine the implications?"
Victor stands next to the professor, "Only too well. Here, you must be perched." Victor hands one of the tin cups to the professor. The professor brings the cup up to his lips but stops, "I mean look, it is like a battle plan." In excitement the professor does not drink, much to the priest's chagrin. The professor continues while pointing out the hieroglyphs, "Here is the Good. Here is the Evil. Here. (He points to the five elements.) A weapon against Evil. Heh, I'm going to be famous."
"Then let's toast to your fame! Here Billy," Victor hands the apprentice the other poisoned tin cup. The priest encourages them to drink, however, the professor stops again, "We cannot celebrate with water. Billy, in my sack is the Grappa!" Both tin cups are dumped onto the sandy floor, the poison soaked into the dry sand. Billy runs over to their belongings and looks for the bottle of liquor.
Outside a muffled sound grows steadily louder as a monstrous linear shadow gradually darkens the temple entrance. Billy is looking for the Grappa in the Professor's bag. He comes upon a
machine pistol. When the muffled sound suddenly grabs his attention. He leans toward the corridor and sees part of a spaceship appear. Billy is paralyzed with fear.
In an instant, several beings like nothing ever seen or discovered on Earth descended a ramp from the spacecraft passing Billy on their way into the temple. Billy recovered from his shock enough to grab a new sketchpad so he could document the aliens that have invaded the temple. He didn't dare move in fear of being attacked.
The aliens continued to move further into the temple, heading for the priest and the professor. The beings were there to retrieve the Fifth Element to keep it safe until the time comes for them to return. They retrieve the Fifth Element and warn the priest once again before leaving the planet Earth.
1914
Victor went on to research other ways he could protect the Fifth Element once it has returned to Earth. It was during this time he discovered a being who has defied death. A vampire had attacked him but didn't kill the priest. Victor pleaded for his life which amused the vampire. The vampire identified himself as Klaus Mikaelson. Victor has heard of the Mikaelson family but he didn't know they were immortal, realizing he was talking to one of the original siblings of the Viking family.
Klaus was readying to leave when Victor stopped him. The priest had come up with an idea, 'he could have a vampire guard the Fifth Element.' So, a deal was struck. Victor and his descendants would provide shelter and safety from their father in exchange for guarding the Fifth Elements. Klaus took some time to think about the offer and accepted. What Klaus didn't tell the priest was that he would send someone else in his place when the time comes.
