She combed delicately through his ivory waves, making sure to carefully untangle any nots in his hair, which there weren't many of. To her surprise, he took surprisingly good care of his hair. Though, she supposed it wasn't too surprising, considering Robin was the most decent man in this godforsaken house. It was soft, smelled nice, and the pink hue it had made her weirdly happy. She still couldn't believe she got kicked out of her own cruise. But oh well. Not the first time these people ruin her vacation one way or another.
"Uh, Peach, you're kinda pulling my hair," Robin said, readjusting his glasses. The two were sitting on the couch back home, with Peach seated behind him.
"Oh, sorry, just... thinking about something else," Peach said, placing the comb down. She moved the bangs out of his face and clipped them back using a very frilly bow. "Aaand there, no more hair on your face!"
"Thank you, it's been bothering me for a while," Robin smiled. "I considered getting a headband, but I think that'd give me a headache."
"Your hair's gotten pretty long," Peach said.
"Yeah, I've been considering cutting it for a while now since it's getting kind of inconvenient," Robin said.
"Me too, honestly," Sheik said as he took a seat on the bean bag next to them. The two stared at him in disbelief. He frowned. "What?"
"You don't usually talk unless spoken to, I'm surprised you joined the conversation willingly," Peach said, wide-eyed.
"You want me to stop then?"
"No no, keep going."
Sheik huffed. "As I was saying, I've also kinda been wanting to cut my hair. I mean, I like it the way it is now too, but I figured it might be time for a change."
"I, for one, think you'd look rather handsome with mid-back length hair," Yuri said as he passed by, sliding his hand along the top of Sheik's head, making him flinch.
"I-I do wanna keep the long hair," Sheik stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yuri, why are you here?" Peach asked.
He took a seat next to Sheik, on the floor. "Because you guys are fun?"
"I hate to sound like a hater, but there's too many Fire Emblem characters," Robin said.
"You're a Fire Emblem character," Peach pointed out.
"I know."
"Anywayyyy," Yuri said, turning to face Sheik, who tensed up more. "I can cut your hair, if you want. I have a fair share of experience after dealing with some rather... picky people."
Sheik raised a brow at that, but didn't bother asking. "I appreciate the offer, but the only person other than myself I trust with my hair is my sister."
"Why's that? You got a bad haircut once?"
"You could say that."
"Speaking of Zelda," Robin hummed, "Where is she? And the other girls?"
"It's Palutena's wash day," Peach answered.
"Oh."
"Her wash day?" Yuri wondered.
"You know the big tall lady with the long green hair? Yeah she needs a squadron whenever it's time to wash it," Peach said. "I do hope she and Lucina aren't damaging it."
"I wouldn't have too much faith in Lucina," Robin admitted. "She's not exactly the, uh, careful kind."
"I know, which is exactly why I'm worried," Peach said. "I'm gonna go check in on them, I'll be back."
She hopped off the back of the couch and rushed upstairs to Palutena's room. She could already hear the chaos from within the bathroom. Oh boy. She carefully opened the door and was immediately greeted by a swarm of bubbles. She wiped them off her face only to find Palutena sitting in the tub scrubbing her scalp while she argued with Lucina, who was working on the middle section of her hair, and Zelda sitting quietly while working on the ends. All three of them were wearing swimsuits, and good thing they were because the entire bathroom was covered in water.
"Don't scrub too harshly or it'll fall out!" Palutena said.
"I'm not scrubbing harshly! Zelda, am I scrubbing harshly?!" Lucina yelled.
"If you call basically re-tangling her hair harsh, then yes, you are," Zelda answered calmly.
"You guys are so mean to me."
Peach quietly closed the door and retreated before they noticed her and asked for her help. Palutena's hair gets really heavy when it gets wet, and she does not have the kind of strength required to help wash it, which is why it was usually Zelda and Samus' job, but unfortunately Samus is out shopping with the rest of the house, so it had to befall upon Lucina's shoulders to help. Peach really prayed for Palutena's hair.
As she was walking to go back downstairs, a door began to creak open. She looked behind her, only to be met by a dark room and a half open door. Sheik, Robin, and Yuri were downstairs, and she just saw the girls, and the others were out shopping. So then, who was in there? Perhaps, an intruder?!
A foot stepped out of the room.
"Morning-"
"HYAH!" Peach punched them in the stomach, making them cough and hunch over in pain. She took up a battle stance and was about to kick the person again when she noticed the very messy blue hair and toned muscles they had. "Ike?"
"Yeah... thanks for making a smoothie out of last night's dinner," Ike groaned, clutching his stomach. He was wearing a white tank top and shorts, and a towel wrapped around his neck, probably to help with the heat.
"Oh, sorry, but what are you doing here? I thought you went with the others?" Peach asked.
"Go with the others where?"
"WERE YOU ASLEEP THE WHOLE TIME?!"
"YEAH??"
"Oh," Peach said. There's so many people in this house she couldn't even remember who was or wasn't inside the house.
"Is everything okay?" The two looked up and saw Zelda walking towards them, wiping a towel on her face. "We just finished with Palutena's hair and- why do you look like you're about to shit yourself?"
"She punched me," Ike pouted.
"I didn't know you were here okay! I thought someone snuck into the house!" Peach yelled.
"I didn't realize you were here either to be honest," Zelda admitted.
"Zel?!"
"SEE?! Not even your girlfriend knew you were here!"
"You guys are so mean, I'm gonna go eat breakfast."
"Hold it," Zelda said, grabbing his wrist before he could stomp away. "Fix your hair first."
"You're not my mom."
"She can be your mommy though," Peach smiled.
"That's true."
"Come on, I'll do it for you," Zelda said.
"Aren't you tired though?"
"Dealing with your hair is heaven compared to Palutena's."
"Is my hair that messy anyway? Can't I just go downstairs like this?"
"You look like a buff human version of Sonic," Peach commented.
"Gee thanks."
"Fine, I'll do it downstairs while you eat breakfast, just don't move around a lot," Zelda said. "Peach, you go help Lucina dry Palutena's hair. I'd do it but I can barely feel my arms right now."
"Yes ma'am!" The two saluted then went their separate ways. Zelda sighed and stopped by her room to put on some shorts and a baggy t-shirt before going downstairs too. To be honest, she was way too tired to do anything for the rest of the day. Sure it was only noon, but washing Palutena's hair felt like a workout, a massive one, enough where she didn't have to move for a week. She wanted to cozy up, marathon some Barbie movies, maybe even eat some donuts. But oh well. The things she did for love. Hopefully, the rest of the day would be peaceful, at least.
And yet, as soon as she walked downstairs, she was met with chaos. First, it started when she saw her brother at the very bottom step, with his head in hands. She raised a brow but disregarded it, figuring he might be disassociating or something. And then, as she stepped further down, she heard yelling.
"It's your fault! How the hell did you go down the stairs so quietly?! Did you use magic or something?!"
"I didn't do anything! I just said hi!"
"Can you guys calm down-"
"NO!"
Oh dear. Carefully, she walked down the stairs stopping beside Sheik. She took a seat next to him and gently placed a hand on his back saying, "You okay there, buddy?"
He was quiet for a little while, before taking in a sharp breath. "I wanted to get a haircut. I was gonna wait for you, but then I got flustered with Yuri 'cause he's pretty and let him do it. It was going pretty well, he was cutting my bangs and made sure I liked how they looked with every snip. It was nice, I actually thought things were going pretty well and then... and then Ike... came downstairs."
Zelda gulped, carefully taking her brother's hands and moving them away from his face. She gasped, letting go and slapping her mouth shut. Sheik nodded and sunk back into his well of misery. She slowly turned her head towards Ike, who, while still arguing with Yuri, took a glance at her and froze. "Zel," he said quietly, "help, please."
"Ike..." she said, shaking her head in disappointment. She patted Sheik's back, shedding a fake tear. "How could you? To my poor brother..."
"I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THOUGH?!"
"You scared me which made me mess up his hair!" Yuri said.
"It's really both of your faults, actually," Robin pointed out.
Yuri and Ike went back to arguing with each other while Robin tried to mediate between them. Zelda, meanwhile, turned back to her brother, moving his hands away from his face to assess how bad the situation was. It wasn't horrible really, a portion of his bangs just went really far above his eyes now. Like, almost to his hairline. But it could be saved, hopefully. Though, judging by how exhausted Sheik looked, she kinda doubted he wanted to deal with that now.
"Wanna leave it for later?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm... I'm just gonna go to my room now." And without another word, he stood up and quickly went upstairs.
"Wait, Sheik!" Yuri said as soon as he noticed he left. He immediately dropped the argument and rushed towards the Sheikah.
Zelda and Robin looked at Ike, who was left with a slightly sour taste in his mouth. "Did... did I really do something?"
"Just try to be more careful next time, my dear," Zelda said. She looked up at the top of the stairs while Ike pouted and nodded sadly, walking to get his breakfast. She should probably go check up on Sheik, but this could also be quite the opportunity for him. The opportunity to finally get some bitches.
***
Sheik looked up at Yuri as he sat on his desk chair, sighing. "It doesn't have to be now-"
"Hush, I'm thinking," Yuri quickly said.
"You know I'm not mad or anything, just-"
"I told you to hush, didn't I?" Yuri frowned, and with that Sheik zipped his mouth up. "I'm doing this because I feel guilty, not because you might be angry with me. Now then..." He took out a pair of scissors from his pocket and gently took a strand of Sheik's hair. "Let me work my magic."
Snip, snip, snip. Well, this was worrying. It felt like he had been cutting for a while, and yet he didn't feel any weight off his head at all. He didn't doubt Yuri or anything, he was sure he knew what he was doing, but still. There was a biiiiit of unease within him. Just a bit.
"Aaaand done!" Yuri grinned, turning Sheik around in a circle.
"Thaaanks," Sheik said, feeling the back of his neck. His eyes went wide. "What the fuck-"
"Less than you expected, right?" Yuri smirked, as if he had known what Sheik was thinking the whole time. "I gave you a wolf cut, a pretty long one than what's usually done at that. And don't worry, the 'bad cut' isn't noticeable, I hid it pretty well. Also, if I dare say, my friend, you look far more dashing than I do."
Sheik blushed. "Really?"
"No," Yuri replied, almost too quickly.
"Oh."
"But, you're certainly fairer than most men in this house. More noticeable too. I mean seriously, that brute could've made some noise and none of this would've happened in the first place."
"Really? Usually it's the other way around," Sheik mumbled.
"You don't wanna see how you look?" Yuri asked.
"Nah, I don't really care about my looks, I just hate bad haircuts," Sheik said, grimacing at a memory of his childhood. "Plus, I trust you. If you say I look good, then I'll take your word for it." Yuri stared at him, blankly. Just as he was about to say something, a cat suddenly leaped out from underneath Sheik's bed and landed on his lap. "Oh hi Tio."
Yuri leaped back, slamming his back against a cabinet in doing so. "First of all, ow, second of all...is, is that a cat?"
"No it's a lion," Sheik answered, making Yuri roll his eyes. "My sister found him like a month ago. I wonder what he's doing here, he usually hangs out around Robin's room. You wanna hold him? He doesn't scratch or-"
"AAACHOOOOO!!"
Tio jumped off Sheik's lap, landing on his head, while he himself looked at Yuri, perplexed. "Are you okay?"
"No," Yuri sniffled. "I'm allergic to cats. Listen, I'm glad you like the hair but if you'll excuse me, I'd like to save myself from that little cutie." He walked up to Sheik, making sure to keep a reasonable distance from the cat so to not set off his allergies, and poked his cheek with a sweet smile. "See you later, Prince."
Sheik watched him as he walked out of the room, his steps light as a feather. He grabbed Tio from his and held him up to his face, staring at those big ol' eyes of his. Sheik moved his head to the side, and so did the cat. He turned it the other way, and so did the cat. He blinked, the cat blinked. "Am I going crazy?" he wondered out loud, and the cat meowed in response. "I think I'm going crazy." Tio meowed. "No, no, there's no way I'm falling for that guy." Meow. "Well yeah he is pretty, but not that pretty... he is that pretty." Meow. "His personality is less than ideal, though! ...right?" Meow. "Hell, I'm still crushing on that Hoshidan prince I met a while ago. You were almost named after him!" Meow. "Yeah, yeah I'm definitely going insane. Look at me, talking to a cat, like a loser." Meow. "...you're a real one, Tio." Sheik kissed Tio's head and set him down, then he walked over and flopped down on his head while he tried not to lose the rest of his sanity. And figured out his love live.
