No One's POV

Running through the hallways in her PE uniform, Hikari suddenly bumped into a familiar schoolmate.
"Eh? Hikari-san? Don't you have badminton with Fumiko-chan next?" Ishinomori questioned, wiping his sweat with a towel.
"Sure do. I'm heading over to the gym right now," she answered, a smug expression suddenly made its way to her face, "oh? What's this? First name basis already~?"
Blushing a bright red, the club president denied, "N-Nope! Jaa, m-mata ne!" He then ran off, avoiding any further conversation.
"My, how fun would it be to play matchmaker here," she laughed to herself, heading towards her original destination.
It truly wasn't very long until the brunette reached the gym, as there were only a few more minutes until their game started.
"Hika-chan!" Ezakiya called out, waving her right hand while holding her racket in the other.
"Mikocchi!" Hikari smiled, waving back while grabbing her racket from the bench she had previously left it on before heading to her friend.
"Are you ready? We're playing doubles. Do you wanna pair up?" the purple-headed female questioned, stretching.
"Yeah, sure. And by the way, I've already warmed up, so you don't need to worry about that," Hikari stated, heading onto the court.
The whistle blew, and the badminton game was in play, their opponents being a short-haired brunette and a gorgeous glasses-wearing girl.
"We won't go easy on you, Yui-chan, Kiyoko-chan!" the two cheered, earning a nod and a smile from the opposing pair.
What Hikari didn't notice, however, was a certain setter and captain watching them play from the sidelines, quietly cheering them on.

Sweat dripped down a female third-year's head as she looked around the cafeteria for an empty table, sitting down at one as soon as she found it.
Hikari eagerly took out her bento from her bag, excited to finally be able to eat.
She uncapped the box, drooling over the majestic onigiri with tamagoyaki and chicken karaage on the side, the perfect lunch for– cue the stomach growl– her teenage, fresh-from-a-game tummy.
Taking one onigiri from her bento, she immediately stuffed everything in her mouth, chewing very happily.
"Pah, you're a like a pig," a snarky silver-head commented from behind her, making her cover her mouth with her hand frustratedly.
As soon as she gulped everything she had been chewing, she rolled her eyes. "Go away, Sugawara. I don't have the time and patience to deal with you, just please leave me alone to eat!"
Standing up abruptly, Hikari hastily packed up her food and headed out the cafeteria, irritated and very, very bothered.
"C-Chotto matte!" Sugawara yelled, running after her. "What's your problem? Did I do anything wrong again?"
He was able to catch up with her, grabbing her wrist.
Clicking her tongue, she shouted at him. "Hanase*! You don't know how irritating it is to be starving, finally sit down and eat peacefully, until someone tells you you're a pig for stuffing your food down your mouth!"
"You're upset about that? Are you a kid or something? Mou, ii!" he scoffed, not letting go despite her violent squirming.
"You're so annoying, honestly! I told you to let me go, you stupid retard!" she screamed, jerking her hand away before running off.
"Look, I'm sorry! I didn't know you were so sensitive! What happened to spouting some sarcastic retort?" he called out, still running after her.
"Stop following me! It's not my fault I get so emotional while eating, jerk!" she answered, making a run for the girl's bathroom.
"I said I was sorry!" he yelled, emphasizing 'sorry' as much as he could.
"Did you just... apologize?" she stopped, turning around and tilting her head in confusion (and shock).
"Bye," he muttered, heading back the way he came, not stopping to look back.
It was too late now, his pride had been hurt.

It was now time for one truly awaited event during this day: the Kiba-sen*.
Students were grouped by class and were then paired up by teachers to form a team-of-four per class.
"Hamako-sensei!" Hikari yelled insistently, clutching her fists. "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
"What?" the older female chuckled. "I only paired you up with your friends, isn't that right?"
"Sawamura-kun and Mikocchi are my only friends in this team, sensei! What a set-up! I bet somewhere, Inoue-sensei has a camera!" she pouted, earning a pat of comfort from Daichi and Ezakiya.
"Camera? Where'd you get that insane idea? Oh, would you look at the time, the time! The Kiba-sen's starting in two minutes! Get into your places, everyone! You're all against class 3!" Hamako-sensei announced, dashing off into the sidelines, leaving the four to get into their spots.
"So, who's our attacker?" Daichi questioned. "It's certainly not me, by the way. I'm better helping to carry."
"I bet you Hikari's never been an attacker. I bet it's because she sucks at it!" Sugawara snickered, irk marks appearing on Hikari's forehead immediately.
"What was that, I heard? A mouth full of lies? Let's just see how well you guys can carry me because we'll definitely be the MVPs of the class because of me!" she challenged, fire burning in her eyes.
The three brought her up on their shoulders almost effortlessly.
"Are you guys ready?" Daichi asked, eager to start.
"Of course! Kazue-kun's an attacker, too, huh? Maybe we can team up with them to gang up on the other team!" Ezakiya suggested.
The whistle blew, a horde of students running toward each other, red versus white, shouts and laughter heard throughout.
"I got one!" Hikari yelled, her teammates laughing while rushing off toward another group of white-teamed students.
"Let's make this quick and run them over after Hikari snatches their headbands!" Ezakiya chuckled.
"We're doing pretty well surviving!" Daichi commented, ramming into another team as soon as he heard the 'Got it!' from Hikari.
"Whatever, you're doing fine," Sugawara muttered, dashing toward yet another team.
It wasn't very soon until another team had tried to snatch Hikari's headband, but they were unsuccessful, and only triggered the four to ignite the burning fire inside them, intimidating expressions drawn all over their face as they chased the team that tried to bring them down.
"Come back here, you foolish peasants!" Ezakiya yelled.
"You're gonna pay for trying to steal something that clearly isn't yours~" Hikari smiled innocently, hands busy snatching all over the place.
"Seriously, you tried to steal our headband? That's a joke!" Sugawara laughed maniacally, running at full speed.
"Guys," Daichi spoke, "let us get your headband or else."
"G-Gah! Sawamura-kun is mad?" Hikari blinked, surprised.
"As expected, ne~?" Sugawara laughed. "This is the only time that Daichi's anger becomes useful, other than in volleyball! He becomes so dangerous!"
"Sure he won't kill us, too?" Ezakiya shivered.
"It's perfectly safe. He's not unconscious, after all," Sugawara replied.
"I guess we're winning, guys!" Hikari announced. "Red team seems to have almost slayed the white team!"
Just then, the sound of a snatch echoed in the four's ears, like a bullet straight to their hearts.
They had been knocked over (and quite violently, at that), and their headband had been stolen.
"Shimizu?" Sugawara whispered, staring off into the distance.
"Azumane?" Ezakiya choked, falling into the ground.
"Michimiya?" Daichi mumbled, eyes becoming hollow.
"Betrayal," Sugawara teared up, clutching his heart.
"It's alright, we did our best, isn't that right, Hika–Hika-chan?"

A gentle breeze drifted through the room, the faint sound of cheering still heard from a distance.
Slowly, a pair of eyes fluttered awake.
The third-year brunette looked around confusedly, only to see a snoozing silver-head on the chair beside the bed she was laying on.
Grabbing her glasses from the side table, she blinked a few times, only to find out that this was the nurse's room and not the field.
Getting up gently, she nudged the sleeping setter on the shoulder, mumbling softly. "Hey, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be out there? Doushite?"
"Hm, huh? What? Oh, you're up. It's been... an hour since we brought you here," Sugawara replied, yawning as he stretched.
"Why? What happened?" she questioned, taking the blanket off her body and slipping her feet into her school shoes.
"You passed out, apparently. We were all knocked over, remember?" he told her, looking her straight in her eyes.
"No, stop it, why are you here? Couldn't it have been Mikocchi or even Sawamura-kun?" she whispered, standing up.
"You're making it sound like I actually wanted to be the one left here. Sensei asked me to," he explained, frowning.
"And you said yes?" she asked him, returning his gaze right back at him.
It was silent for a bit, and Sugawara looked away, sighing.
"Let's just go, the inter-club relay race is about to start," he answered, dodging the question.
Hikari didn't budge. "I asked you."
He turned around. "I did, why? I felt bad for you."
"Hey," she said, voice as hard as stone. "I didn't give you permission to pity me, so don't, got it?"
"Riiiiight. Got it."

|| Bonus:
"I feel bad for leaving this all on the shoulders of the first years and the second years~" Daichi breathed, slumping.
"Well they're actually pretty fast, so it's all good," Asahi replied.
All Daichi could say was a "Traitor," before turning and marching away.
'T-Traitor?!' the poor ace thought, sweat-dropping.
Sugawara had been out riling up some other team's third-years, making small talk about how much the volleyball club's first and second-years were quite bad news.
And alas, the race had started.
Short Nishinoya caught up in no time with the other teams, almost able to hand the baton to Tanaka, who held his hand out.
Just as the libero could hand their own baton to his friend, the baseball club had a minor passing error, resulting in their baton falling.
"HE SAVED IT!" the announcer yelled as Nishinoya caught the baton, handing it politely to the baseball team members after passing his own team's baton to Tanaka.
The third-years were in shock, (some water being spit out by Sugawara, even) watching their first and second-years truly do an amazing miracle.
Sadly though, the basketball and tennis team had taken over them, already running ahead.
"It's okay, we can still do this! We can still–" Sugawara started, only to be interrupted by a loud scream.
"Kyaaaa~! Oujiyama-senpai~!!" yelled a mob of fangirls, encouraging the tennis club's ace, Oujiyama Hideo.
But something, a presence, was closing in on him.
It was Tanaka.
Although it had seemed like there had been a hidden motive in this, the bald had been able to pass him anyhow.
The female team immediately booed him! (The males, however, the opposite.)
"Is Tanaka going to be okay?" Asahi shivered, the ear-piercing yells of the girls ringing in his ears.
"We're golden!" Sugawara nodded. "I passed him some earplugs before he took off, so in Tanaka's mind, all the girls are cheering for him!"
But suddenly, a flash of lightning struck the silver-head. "Traitor!" was all he could say before stomping off grudgingly towards Daichi.
"Kageyama!" Tanaka called, passing the baton flawlessly to the first-year, who took it.
And only in a matter of seconds, Kageyama closed the gap miraculously; all that was left to do was hand it to the anchor, Hinata.
But alas, the two first-years realized.
'Kageyama's closing in on me at a terrifying pace.'
'Hinata is standing ahead of me.'
'I can't let him surpass me!'
The two empty-heads totally ditched the whole race and decided to race themselves instead, shouting a loud "UWOOOOOOOOOOOH!" while running as fast as they could.
"Those pea-brains are racing each other!" a student commented, while his teammate flopped down on the ground.
They were truly bad news.
"Volleyball club disqualified!" the announcer yelled.
"Saying they're bad news... doesn't do them justice..." a third-year said, in shock.
"You took the words right outta my mouth," Sugawara sighed, wanting to flop on the ground, too.
