CHAPTER ONE
The annoying songs repeat themselves in the background of my mind as I sit on the cold curb. It was getting kinda dark and colder as the minutes passed. Of course there were better things I could be doing at the moment than sitting beside a Kwik Shop in the middle of nowhere. But I had no choice to wait. I had just arrived from my old home in Hamilton- which is located in Canada- and was now waiting my my older cousin to pick me up because I didn't have enough money on me for the taxi driver to take me all the way from the airport to my cousins house. But thankfully, my cousin loves me and is nice and accepting and said she would come pick me up at the Kwik Shop I was now stranded at.
It wasn't my idea to move to America actually. It was my father's. He wanted me to go to a American school because I would be able to get more scholarships for almost any collage of my choice with the grades I had (which meant free boarding school). In my old school I had a GPA of 4.5 which meant I was a straight A honor student. Yes. I'm a try hard I guess. But only when it comes to school, but I wasn't looking forward to this change. I left my friends, and my boyfriend back in Hamilton. A lot was going to be different here in San Diego, California.
I sighed at the thought of my friends as I tugged my sleeves down to cover my bare arms that were now covered in goosebumps. I would miss them, I already do. But that doesn't matter now. I stood up when a car parked across the street from me, then slowly rolled down their tented window.
"Hey kid, I have some candy for you in the trunk." They said and I shook my head with a slight smile, the girl poked her head out of the window and smiled widely at me. My cousin Leah, sat in the driver's seat, her long curly reddish orange hair sticking out around her face, giving her the appearance of a lion, at least, that's what I thought when I was a kid. She still hasn't changed much, at least her appearance hasn't changed in the twelve years we were apart. Other than the fact she grew taller and is a bit skinnier then when I last met with her. Leah and I had always been close since childhood even though she was two years older than me. Although we haven't seen each other in person in over twelve years, we always kept in touch. Whether it was skyping, face time or texting I knew what she was up too and the same went for her.
"Depends on what kind of candy you have." I call back, grabbing my many bags and dragged them across the empty street over to her car.
"You like sour patch kids?" she asked as I popped over the trunk and started shoving the heavy duffel bags into the tiny trunk.
"Hell yeah, hit me up dude." I say after a odd two minutes of me trying to get my bags shoved in a orderly way so they would all fit. I then shut the trunk and walked over the the side of the car, opening the door and sitting next to the red headed mess.
"WOW! XAVIER YOU LOOK AMAZING!" She exclaimed as soon as I shut the door. "Your hair looks even better in person! I really do love it!" she said with a huge smile. I smiled back a bit, stunned at her excitement. I guess she does have a reason to be shocked though, my camera on my phone is literal shit so I would hope I look better in person than I do over facetime.
"Thanks, you too." I said with a smile as she reaches beside her and pulls out a bag of sour patch kids. "OH YOU WEREN'T KIDDING?! HIT ME UP." I say holding out my hands as she poured some of the sugary candy into them. I popped one into my mouth as she started up the car once again and we started on the road to her house. Her house was about a 30 minute drive so there was plenty of time for me to take over the AUX cord and blast anime openings and some other random weird shit I had downloaded to my phone. I made sure to blast My Time by Bo En because that's my favorite song at the moment. But that will probably change by next week, because that's just who I am.
After a while of basically screaming along the lyrics to the song and having long deep conversations about pointless topics, we arrived at her house. The house was just about the right size, perfect for two people. Two bathrooms three bedrooms,Which I am glad for, because I may be a boy but damn, it takes me about an hour to get ready ya know? Beauty like mine doesn't come easy. I could never share a bathroom.
The car parked in the long drive way and I got out, popping the trunk and lugging all my stuff through the front door of her house. It was a nice house- but super tumblr in a aesthetic kind of way- and it was colorful and roomy.
"Your room is down the hall, fallow me." Leah said, shutting the front door behind us as she carried some of my bags. She went ahead of me and led me down the long hallway to what was supposed to be my room. I looked around the room, it was quite dull but I would soon brighten it up with all my posters and other pictures that I can hang up to cover the walls. "You start school Monday so you have the weekend to get ready K? Just ask if you need anything, except for money. I don't have any of that. " she said with a stupid grin. as she shuts the door to my room, leaving me with all my things.
The room was a decent size, it had a huge bed with a weird but cool gothic looking head board, a large closet where I can store my million outfits, a desk and a large window looking out into the front yard. I sighed and threw the first bag on the bed, starting to unpack everything, clothes, shoes, books, music, comics, manga and everything else I thought I needed to survive in this country. I sighed, getting to work on unpacking.
After a long while of unpacking and hanging posters up on my walls by standing on a swivel chair by the desk (probably not the greatest idea, I know) I decided to take a break and go grab something to eat, hoping that Leah would agree on pizza. I took one last glance around the room making sure everything was perfect. My eyes dragged across to the window and I froze. Someone was standing outside the house. This person wasn't standing too close to the house, but was close enough to make me uncomfortable. What was even more creepy was that he was holding a camera up to his eye, pointed at the house. My eyes grew wide as I realized it. I walked up to the window quickly, the closer I got I realized this person was a tall male but I couldn't really see anything other than that. When I stopped at the window his arms dropped to his side and he smiled and waved at me his eyes wide with what looked like rage and insanity. It was enough to make my blood run cold right then and there. I swear to god I had no clue what the fuck was going on. I didn't wave back and wasted no time on closing the curtains. I then rushed out to the living room where Leah was sitting watching TV, casually munching on a bag of chips.
"You have some creepy ass neighbors..." I said sitting beside her.
"What? I don't have any neighbors..." She responded nonchalantly. I looked over at her my eyes wide.
Then who was outside the house?
