Chapter 4

*My POV*

"Come here." Rafael said as him and Eva began kissing. "Ew!" The kids said covering their eyes. "Okay. Take them to Luiz, but hurry back." Eva said. "You are an angel. I'll miss you, my juicy little mango." Rafael said.

"Oh, me, too, my pudgy papaya." Eva said as Rafael walked towards us. We suddenly heard loud body blows. "Ow! Ow!" A baby male toucan said. "Hey! Marco! Carlos! Put your brother down! Now!" Eva said as she went towards them.

"I can't believe she actually let me go." Rafael said happily as I flew around them since I'm tiny. "So, uh, how far is this Luiz?" Blu asked. "Not far. 30 minutes as the crow flies." Rafael said. "Uh, and how long as the macaw walks?" Blu asked.

"Bobo here can't fly." Jewel and I said as I perched myself on Jewel's head. "But...but he's a bird." Rafael said. "Not all birds fly. There are ostriches--" Blu said but was cut off by me. "You're not an ostrich." I said.

"Well, not technically, but--" Blu said. "Wait, wait, wait. My friends, I want to help, but to walk the whole way, it can't be done." Rafael said. "Where's daddy?" One of the baby toucans asked. "No, no, no." Eva said.

"Daddy!" Another one said. "Come over here. Go back to your room." Eva said and Rafael wrapped his wings around Blu and Jewel as I flew after them. "But, hey, we might as well give it a shot. Let's go quickly." Rafael said as Blu looked back a little bit.

"No, no, d-don't look back. They sense fear." Rafael said. "That's...comforting about baby birds." I said as I flew after them not wanting to be a part of whatever Eva has to deal with. I hummed as I flew after them.

*3rd POV*

In a part of the jungle, there was a spot for humans to sit. A monkey came into view as it looked at the DO NOT FEED ANIMALS sign with a picture of a monkey. He went over to a drank and drank all of it before putting the lime in its mouth only to shout and run off.

"Oh, what an adorable monkey." A woman said as her and a lot of other people were watching a monkey dance. This monkey was the color brown while the other one was gray. As it was distracting the humans the monkey's stole from the human.

The monkey chitters at the other one who took a peanut and ran off with the other ones. As a human realized his watch was missing. "Hey. My watch." He said as he saw the monkey run off with his watch.

| In the jungle |

The brown monkey had the watch around his waist as he danced. A lot of other monkeys were trying to steal from him, but he kicked them as the money's were dancing. They suddenly stopped as Nigel landed in front of them.

"Hello, boys. Seems like you've had a busy day." Nigel said noticing all the stuff they stole. The leader monkey laughed. "What? This? This is just some stuff...we found. Right boys?" The leader monkey asked causing the other monkeys to agree.

"I'm not interested in your nicked knickknacks. Your burgled baubles bore me. There are two blue macaws, and a tiny female yellow canary out there, and I need your multitude of eyes to help me find them." Nigel said.

"Oh, yeah? What's in it for us?" The leader asked laughing. "Well, that's a fair question." Nigel said before flying in the air holding the monkey by his tail, causing the other monkeys to look up after them.

The monkey screamed. Nigel then got high enough before letting him go. "Let's discuss it." Nigel said before the monkey began falling because of gravity. Nigel fell peacefully. "I certainly see your point, but what could I possibly do for you in return? Hmm." Nigel said thinking.

"Save me. Save me!" The monkey begged. "Oh. Well, that's a thought. Yeah, but is it enough? I don't want to feel like I'm cheating you." Nigel said. "Save me! Help me! Help me! No, no! We'll do it. We'll do it. Save me, please." The monkey said finally agreeing.

Nigel waved as he fell more. "Save me!" The monkey begged, but right behind he hit the ground, Nigel caught him. "All right, you've twisted my wing. Deal." Nigel said dropping him and landed on the ground. "Now, then, any more questions? No? Good. You will spread out, and you will find these macaws and canary by the end of the day, or it's flying lessons for everyone! Go!" Nigel said causing them to scream and run off. "Go do your monkey business." Nigel said smirking.

*My POV*

We watched as humans glide through the air using the things they call kites or whatever it is. Blu looked over the edge before backing away with a yell. "I've changed my mind. Yeah. Uh... Uh, maybe we can find a...a bus schedule or something." Blu said as I was on Rafael's head.

"Come on, you're not going to back out now." Rafael said. "Not in front of the lady." I whispered to him smiling. "Uh, huh. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, sure." Blu said as Jewel looked confused. "All right, that's the spirit." Rafael said.

"You're sure you're up for this?" Jewel asked Blu. "Yeah. Yeah, I mean, well, it's not like we're just hurling ourselves off a mountain or something. Right?" Blu asked chuckling. "Actually, that was pretty much my entire plan." Rafael said smiling.

"What?" Blu asked as he tucked his head in. "Ah, don't worry, Blu. It's in your DNA." Rafael said. "And if our featherless friends can do it, how hard can it be?" I asked as we heard one of them scream as they flew off.

"Fun right?" Rafael asked as we faced him. "Yeah. Fun." Blu said. "Okay. I need you two to get closer. Closer. Closer. Closer." Rafael said till they were touching each other's wings. "Ooh." I said smiling.

"Nice. Now put your wings around each other." Rafael said. "What?" Blu asked as Jewel side-eyed him. "Come on, amigo! It's not like she's gonna bite." Rafael said and I giggled. "Will you?" I asked teasingly, knowing if she would or wouldn't.

"We'll see." Jewel said as she looked at Blu. "Now, you flap your right wing, you flap your left wing, and together you fly." Rafael said as he flew a little bit. "Uh, but this doesn't seem aerodynamically possible." Blu said.

"Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay. You think too much. Flying is not what you think up here." Rafael said pointing to his head. "It's what you feel in here." I said pointing to his heart. "And when you feel the rhythm of your heart, it's like samba." Rafael said as we went to the edge.

"You fly." We said as we fell backwards off the cliff, before we flew in the air whooping. "See? It's easy." Rafael and I said as we flew around happily. "Easy? Easy for you to say, 'cause fr-from here, it looks really, really hard." Blu said as he watched us.

"Hey, if you want to see Linda again, this is the only way." Jewel said holding her wings out to me and Rafael as we kept flying. "Whoo!" I cheered as I kept flying. "Okay. You're right." Blu said as he took a deep breath.

"Yes, I am." Jewel said. "This is for Linda." Blu said preparing. "Right." Jewel said smiling. "Keep it simple." Blu said. "Easy breezy." Jewel said getting a little impatient. "Thrust, lift, drag--" Blu said but was cut off by Jewel.

"Oh, come on. Let's go!" Jewel said dragging him. "Whoa, wait!" Blu said before they began running. "Inside, outside. Inside, outside. Inside, outside. Inside, outside." They both said as they went towards the edge.

"Come on, Blu! You can do it!" Jewel said smiling. "I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can't do it!" Blu said as he fell to the ground and grabbed onto the edge of the cliff causing Jewel to fly out and be stopped.

"Whoa!" Blu said surprised. "Not again!" Jewel yelled annoyed. Blu grunts but slips as he began falling, dragging Jewel with him. They screamed as they fell. "Jewel!" I yelled worried for my best friend, but it slowly calmed down as they landed on one of the kitelike things.

Blu sighs. "Am I dead?" Blu asked holding on tightly. "No. We're still alive!" Jewel yelled out happily as looked around. Blu and Jewel laugh. Rafael and I were flying after them, and I smiled happily.

"Wow. This is incredible." Blu said as she looked around. I smiled at the sight of this beautiful place. "I never realized it was so beautiful." I said to myself as I flew. "Wow. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Blu said smiling.

Jewel laughs. "See what you've been missing?" Jewel said as she stood up but kept her wings tucked in. "Yeah. Whoa!" Blu said as they went a different direction. "All right, Blu! You're flying!" Rafael said as we flew close to them.

"Sort of." I said smiling as we kept watching. "Not really, but do you feel it?" Rafael asked as we watched. "Yes. I do feel it." Blu said smiling and I smiled. I noticed Blu trying to stand up and he prepared himself, but his wings were spread.

"No! No! Blu, wait!" Jewel shouted, but the wind blew them off and they screamed. "Ay, caramba." Rafael said. "Jewel!" I shouted worried as we flew after them. "Whoa!" They said as they screamed.

Blu ripped a human's kite and they both landed on a human's face. They flew through a lot of human stuff. "Rafael, hurry up!" I shouted as I flew faster. "I'm trying!" He said, before we saw them slam into something with a grunt.

They landed on the ground. We landed on the ground, and I rushed to Jewel's side. Rafael clicks his tongue. "You did not feel it in here." Rafael said gesturing to his heart. Jewel spit out some sand.

"You think?" Jewel asked as I dusted the sand off her beak. We heard an engine. "Let's catch a ride to Luiz." Rafael said as me and him flew over to the truck. "Hurry, you two!" I shouted. "Vamos! Vamos!" Rafael said.

"Ah, okay." Blu said before they almost got run over. "Come on lovebirds!" Rafael said before Jewel flew and dragged Blu with her into the truck. "You made it!" I spoke. "I would love to go five minutes without almost getting killed. Is that too much to ask?" Blu asked. "For a bird who can't fly, oh, yeah." Jewel and I said as I perched myself on one of the fruits.

*3rd POV*

Linda, Tulio and Fernando were sitting in Tulio's jeep, not noticing the birds that passed by in the truck. "They're starting to close off the streets for Carnaval. You better be right, kid, because we're running out of time." Tulio said before driving off.

As he drove through the streets, he could get by with a lot of people crowded around. "I'll never be able to get my car through this crowd." Tulio said worried. "Don't worry. I'm on it." Fernando said putting a hand on Tulio's shoulder.

They were now on a motorcycle. Linda and Tulio were shouting as Fernando drove the motorcycle. They drove around a lot of people. "Hey, kid! How'd you get this bike?" Tulio asked as they kept dodging a lot of people.

"I traded it for your Jeep!" Fernando said. "What?!" Tulio said confused. "Yeah, it's in great condition." Fernando told them. "Whoa!" They all said as the mirror broke off. "Well, good condition." Fernando said as they kept going.

Tulio and Linda scream. "Hey, out of the way!" Fernando said. "Look out!" Linda shouts as a ball was kicked their way. "Ow!" Tulio said as he was hit in the face by the ball. "Hold on!" Fernando said as they began going down some stairs.

*My POV*

We arrived at the market, and Blu fell out of the truck once it stopped, dragging Jewel with him. "Ugh. I'm going to chew through my own leg if this doesn't come off soon." Jewel said as me and Rafael flew down.

"Relax. If I know Luiz, we're right where we want to be." Rafael said when we heard new voices. "Hey, Rafi! If it isn't the king of Carnaval!" A yellow canary and a red-crested cardinal flew over to us.

I looked at the yellow canary curiously. "Nico! Pedro! What up, family?" Rafael asked. So, Nico was the yellow canary's name, and Pedro was the red-crested cardinal's name. "Where you been hiding yourself, bird?" Pedro asked.

"Man, I thought you were dead." Nico said. "Hold up. Rewind." Pedro said before imitates rewinding tape and he flew towards Blu. "Ain't that the bird from the cage?" Pedro asked. "I think our love lessons went down smooth." Nico said smiling at Jewel.

"You work fast." Pedro said. "Oh, baby got beak." Nico said. "You was locked up, and now you're rolling with a hot wing. Whoo! I want to be like you." Pedro said before his eyes landed on me. "Wow!" Pedro said as he fell.

"Huh?" I asked confused. "Pedro, what's up--" Nico said before we locked eyes, and both our eyes widen. "Wow..." We said as we flew around each other. "A female?" Nico asked. "I'm Izzy." I said introducing myself.

"Nico." Nico said introducing himself. "No, no. It's not what you think. We're just, uh, chained together." Blu said interrupting me and Nico. "Hey, I'm not judging you." Nico said. "Keep it spicy." Pedro said.

"Oh, yeah." Nico said. "Hey, guys. We're looking for Luiz. Have you seen him?" Rafael asked Nico and Pedro. "Yeah, I seen him, but you didn't, 'cause you just missed him. He took the trolley back to the garage." Pedro said.

"Oh, great." Jewel said sarcastically as I groaned. "Relax, baby bird. You could catch the next one." Nico said. "Yeah, it's time to take it to the next level." Pedro said. "What's wrong with this level?" Blu asked confused.

"A lot." I said as I flew around and landed next to Nico. "Come on. This ain't the level. The next level's the level. You got to shake your tail feathers." Pedro said. "I like where this is going." I said happily as I began flying.

"Oh, yeah!" Nico said. "Uh, we... we got to get this chain off first." Blu said. "Come on, lovebirds. You're in Rio. You should enjoy it." Rafael said as we guided them. "Yeah, live a little." Nico said. "Come on, Jewel. What's a little fun gonna hurt?" I asked as I flew after Nico and Pedro.

*3rd POV*

One of the money's began pressing a button on a camera, signaling another money who hit another money, who held up some flags. Another money salutes and slid down an umbrella and grabbed a human phone and began typing on it.

| Mean while |

The leader money was enjoying a 'back massage'. A cell phone chiming went off, and the monkey turned around and took a phone out from behind him and saw the message and laughed. "We got 'em." He said smirking.

*My POV*

We walked into a small area, where birds were dancing. "Welcome to paradise." Nico said as I flew after him and Nico. "You sing baby bird?" Pedro asked and I nodded. "Then sing with us!" Nico said smiling and I nodded happily.

"Some party, huh?" Rafael asked Jewel and Blu. "This is the coolest place I've ever seen. Despite all the obvious health code violations." Blu said causing Rafael to laugh. "I like you. Nothing you say, makes any sense." Rafael said.

"E ai, galera?" Nico said in Portuguese. "All right, everyone, listen up. Rafi has some special guest from out of town, and let's show them some love, because I don't think they get out much." Nico said and I prepared.

"Ya, ya, ya, ya, yo! Everybody put their wings together and clap 'em as loud as you can. Flap 'em, clap 'em. I don't, slap 'em." Pedro said before squawking. "Party in the Ipanema, baby." Nico said looking at me while tipping his hat and I felt my heart beating.

"I wanna party. I wanna samba. I wanna party. I wanna samba. I wanna party." Nico sang. "And live my life." Pedro sang. "My life." I sang. "I wanna party." Pedro sang. "Party." Nico sang. "And fly high." The three of us sang as we flew.

Nico landed and began playing his hat like a tambourine. "I'm gonna fly, fly just like bird." Nico sang. "But you are a bird." Pedro sang. "Oh, yeah, you're right." Nico sang. "So, let me fly just like a rocket then." I sang as I stood on the end of a spoon.

"Okay." Pedro sang as he and Nico launched me into the air. "Fly so high where I need to come down for oxygen." I sang as I slowly fell. "Hey!" Pedro sang. "'Cause once we start it, baby. Ain't no, ain't no stopping then." Nico sang.

"Hey!" Pedro sang. "'Cause I just wanna live my life and party." I sang as I slid down some wood and joined Pedro and Nico's side. "Hey!" We sang. "All I want is to be free and rock my body." Nico sang as me and him had our backs to each other and rocked our bodies.

"Okay." Pedro sang. "I've been around the world. And I wanna live my life in Rio. 'Cause in Rio, 'cause I Rio, realize..." Nico and I sang as we kept dancing. "What are you doing?" Jewel asked Blu as he randomly started dancing.

We kept singing. "Uh, I don't know." Blu said confused as well. "All right, Blu!" Rafael said smiling. "And fly!" The three of us sang. "I'm that samba, samba master. Master, master, master, master. Push out sound from my ghetto blaster. Blaster, blaster, blaster, blaster." Pedro sang.

Jewel started dancing as well. "You dance fast, but I dance faster..." Pedro sang as me and Nico kept dancing. "Hey, she likes you." Rafael told Blu. "What are you talking about? Haven't you been listening?" Blu asked.

"No, but I've been watching. Just be yourself. Go on." Rafael said pushing Blu into Jewel. "Party." Nico sang. "I wanna samba." We sang. "Party." I sang. "I wanna party." We sang. "Party." Nico sang. "I wanna samba." We sang, the whole time, Blu and Jewel were dancing.

"Party." I sang. "I wanna party." We sang. "Party." Pedro sang. "And live my life, my life." Nico and I sang. "I wanna party." We sang. "Party." Pedro sang. "And fly." Nico and I sang. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Pedro sang as he squawks.

"Hey! Hey! Hey!" Other birds sang. Pedro squawks again, and as Blu and Jewel were dancing, so were me and Nico. Blu and Nico twirled me and Jewel in the air and we began flying. "Laya, laya, laya. Laya... Laya, laya, laya, laya. Laya, laya, laya, laya." We sang before we landed on the ground.

Jewel landed in front of Blu, and I landed in front of Nico. We stared into each other's eyes. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" The other birds sang as Pedro squawked. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Pedro sang and squawked with other birds as we leaned in. But it was cut short as the tarp was ripped off and a lot of monkey's showed up.
