Laying on the floor, lifeless, she cried as tears continuously seeped down her red eyes. She merely flapped her eyes, however her body was numb to this extent that she felt paralysed, no movement could occur willingly. Her life had started to seem like a mess to her, a curse that snatched the love of her life right in front of her eyes.

"Om. . ." His name was the last thing she slipped out of her mouth in a small cry, now slowly flickering her eyes shut.

The door broke open and a figure barged inside, glancing down at her bleeding from her wrist. "Gauri!" Her name echoed in the room after his loud exclaim and he clenched his fist, "boys! Come here quick." Three bouncers storm inside and stand in front of the figure, lowering their heads.

"What have you been watching?" His stern tone questioned and they slightly lifted their gazes to see her, dying until every ounce of blood left her body.

"Sir. . . We. . ." One of them spoke in shock, not able to complete.

"How can she cut her wrist with you watching over her!" He screamed and slapped the bouncer who spoke across the face as hard as he could.

"Don't just stand here now! Take her to the hospital!" He added as loud as he could, ordering the three bouncers who nod and head towards Gauri.

A sigh escaped his mouth and he grit his teeth, "till how long will you stay stubborn Gauri? I'm Kaali Thakur and I will get what I need!" He mumbled to himself in a low tone while staring at the invisible air.

9 Months Later

"No, please leave her." The knife was near her neck and he fell onto his knees with teary eyes. "Please." He pleaded, swallowing and soon was stabbed.

His movement went out of control as his breathing hyperventilated. His body was jumping as if it was receiving electric shocks and the machines began to make sounds, which alerted the nurses around the area. His eyes flickered open and he sat up with a jerk.

"Gauri!"

A nurse and a ward boy head inside, surprised to see him awake and rush towards him, as he began to pull the canola out of his veins.

"Gauri, where is Gauri?" He questioned in a low tone, forcing himself down the bed, unable to stand on his foot, he fell to the side and the nurse bent down.

"Calm down." She uttered, holding onto his hand and he jerked it away, trying his best to stand up, but failed miserably. Each time he put strength in his arm, to pull himself up, his feet and core muscles would betray him. It was as if he was paralysed from the lower waist.

Frustrated and dizzy, he smacked his fist on the floor as hard as he could, "I want to go to Gauri! Where is she?"

"Call the doctor, I'll handle him." The ward boy uttered and the nurse nodded, standing up on her feet while the ward boy bent down to hold onto him and calm him down.

His face began to sting and he touched it, feeling the bandage wrapped around it, merely leaving his eyes visible.

"Calm down." The ward boy worriedly uttered as the nurse stepped out of the room to call the doctor.

"Gauri. . ." He trailed off, sounding aggressive and continued to pull himself up.

Wrapped with bandages, his face was hidden however his eyes flickered open and he sat up with a jerk. "Gauri!"

The doctor entered the room with another figure, staring at him laying unconscious on the bed, again.

"We have given him an injection to keep him asleep. Have you decided how you'll confront him?"

"I, haven't." He honestly replied while continuing to stare at the bandaged patient, "why haven't you taken off the bandages yet?"

"We were waiting, for him to wake up before doing tests regarding his new face. Now that he came out from Coma, we are planning to take the bandages off now." The Doctor replied and signed the nurse with his eyes, who shook her head understanding his indirect hint and picked the tray up, heading towards the patient with scissors, surgical knifes, anaesthetic bottle, and a needle in the tray.

"Thank you Roy, I really appreciate what you did for me."

The Doctor, also known as Roy faced the figure, "I risked it for you Tej, I went against my seniors just to do this face transplant and I hope you will give me a good reason, I at-least deserve to know why you wanted to give him the face of your dead son, Omkara."

The figure, revealed to be Tej closed his eyes painfully as the heart-wrenching words repeat in his mind, 'dead son, Omkara'. It was true and he couldn't decline this harsh reality, his son Omkara was indeed dead, and he still blamed himself for what happened to him.

Guilt, fear, pain, agony, heartbroken, shocked, shaken. . .these were just words for Tej, they don't describe his emotions. His feelings and situation is unimaginable. How would it feel to loose your eldest son and the son you never got along with. For Tej, it was beyond a nightmare and he can't word out how he exactly feels!

"Give me some time Roy, I will definitely tell you." Tej replied as he inhaled and opened his eyes again, blinking at Roy.

Roy scoffed, "I've been hearing this for 9 months now. . ."

"I promise, I'll tell you why I requested you to give him Omkara's face." He sounded confident and reliable which made Roy believe him. His head cocked to the side and he watched him, "Right after he wakes up." Tej added, impatient and eagerly waiting for the bandages to reveal his face and for him to be in his senses.

The nurse successfully cut the bandage without causing him any harming and slowly unraveled it from his face.

X

An hour later, his eyes slowly open as his vision was clear, after a second, he turned his head to the side and blinked at the nurse who was looking at him.

"Gauri?" He questioned in a low tone and closed his eyes again, touching his forehead while trying to sit up.

"Let me help you." She offered and leaned forward, helping him sit up.

Eager to see the nurses face again and clearly, he opened his eyes and instantly looked at her. His expressions changed and he sighed disappointedly.

"What is your name?"

"Om. . . Omkara." He replied and glanced around at his surroundings, finding himself at the hospital. "How, did I survive?"

"You were willing to survive. . . Despite being brutally stabbed and injured, you had the determination to keep going." She responded and he swallowed, "Do you remember what happened to you?" She asked and he exhaled as the cold dreadful memories knock on his doors once again.

"Gauri. . . What about Gauri?" He replied to the nurse with a question and she creased her forehead. "Who?"

"Gauri was with me that day. . ."

"You were brought here alone, no bodies were reported to have died in that bus. It was only you."

"How is that possible, she was with me."

The nurse shakes her head, "there was no one there."

He looked down, compelling his brain to figure out how it was possible that she wasn't found with him in that bus, especially when she was held at a knife point.

Doctor Roy walked inside the room and blinked at him, curving a small smile as his eyes fall on his face.

"I can't believe there aren't any scratches or burns. . ." He mumbled in a soft tone, proud of himself for doing the surgery very well. His new face fit into his face perfectly, "He really looks like Omkara." He added as his eyes fall on the beard and the long hair of him.

"Nurse, bring the mirror." He ordered and headed towards him, while the nurse nodded and walked towards the table, picking the mirror up.

Omkara looked at the Doctor Roy, who passed him a small smile. "I'm glad you're okay. . . How do you feel now?"

"B. . . Better." Omkara stuttered and the nurse stopped in front of him, waiting for Doctor Roy's orders.

Doctor Roy merely blinked at the nurse, hinting his instruction and she flipped the mirror in order to meet Omkara's eyes, so he could view himself.

His eyes fall on his reflection and his eyes widened. He brought his hands to his face and touched it, stunned, shocked and appalled to find himself in a new form, with a face unknown.

"M. . . My face. . ." He trialled off and looked at the Doctor Roy.

"Relax." Doctor Roy assured and blinked at Omkara "your face was burnt and we had no choice but to transplant a new face on you." He added with a warming smile hanging from his lips and Omkara gaped back at himself through the mirror, unable to display his emotions.

Before Doctor Roy could continue, his pager buzzed and he touched his waist subconsciously, now realising he is called.

"Take care, I'll see you later." He uttered and walked towards the door, while Omkara continued looking at his new-self, in the mirror.

Tej entered the room impatiently, glancing around, only to find the bed empty yet messy and the nurse sleeping on the chair.

"Nurse!" He yelled as loud as she could and she stood up with a jerk, widening her sleepy eyes while glancing at Tej.

"Y. . . Yes?"

"Where is he?"

The nurse looked down at the bed and creased her forehead. "He was sleeping here. . . I. . ." She glanced around and walked towards the bathroom, opening the door and finding it empty.

"Find him! I need him under any cost, safe and sound!" Tej screamed at the nurse who timidly swallowed and shook her head positively, hesitantly rushing past him and out of the door.

Tej frustratedly sighed and turned swiftly, however he stopped and faced the bed again, seeing a note on the floor. He immediately ran towards it and picked it up.

'I'm sorry. . . I'm leaving without telling you. There's something I need to do, and I can't really leave it incomplete. Thank you for saving my life! I really appreciate what you had done for me. Omkara.' Tej's eyes widened as he read the Omkara.

"O. . . Omkara?" He managed to utter, sounding horrified and swallowed his spit. He couldn't believe the name on the note and blinked his eyes, rereading it, yet nothing changed. No matter how many times Tej tried and hoped for it to be his son, but the horrible flashes of his dead body smash his hope into million of pieces, making him upset all over again.

He fell on his knees, unable to hold his weight on his foot and closed his eyes, as tears slowly slide down his warm cheeks.

XX

Leaning against the window, of a moving bus. Omkara was sat staring in space. His eyes viewed many passing by things, but his mind was occupied with thoughts of his own.

'I couldn't stay. . . Gauri, I promise to avenge for you, and for us! My life is a mess because you're not with me right now. I don't know how to cope with this situation. A new face has only brought me one advantage, and I will use it to kill everyone that did this to us. Please be alive Gauri, if they didn't find your body then this means you weren't even there, which only leaves me with the hope that I'll see you again. But, will you recognise me?'

Though he wasn't certain, he wanted to believe his love, his life Gauri was alive. He wanted to see her again, he wanted her to be by his side and him to laugh and love with her again. He yearned for her glimpse, her words, her voice and the way she would make fun of him. Loosing her was and is the biggest nightmare of his life, and without her he's certain to have no aim. With this new face, he planned to avenge and he would do it, no matter what, because they took away his love from him.

He closed his eyes as the flashback flashed in his mind, painting the dark plain closed eyelids with the colour of memory.

After several knock on the door, Mr Sharma opened it, watching few men barge inside his house without his permission.

"Where have you hid her?"

"Who, are you?" Mr Sharma asked and the men stare at him in surprise.

"You don't know who we are?"

Mr Sharma shakes his head negatively, "we are Kaali Thakur's men! I'm his brother Ajay."

Mr Sharma looked on and Mrs Sharma walked out into the hall.

"Where have you hid her?" Ajay asked as he stared at both Mr and Mrs Sharma.

"Who?" Mr Sharma asked and Ajay scoffed, "your daughter, where is she?"

"She ran away. . ." Mr Sharma trialled off, now changing his tone. "It's been a week since she ran away with that loafer lover of hers!" He sounded stern, upset and in disgust as he uttered those words in front of Kaali Thakurs men.

"Stop lying!" Ajay yelled and slid his hand down his pocket, pulling out a gun to scare the two.

"We don't know where she is!" Mrs Sharma exclaimed, grabbing their attention "she left us for her love. All these years we were showering her with unconditional love, where did we go wrong? Was our love not enough for her to survive on?" Mrs Sharma added, sounding emotional as tears slid down her cheeks.

Ajay was finish it hard to believe Mr and Mrs Sharma, but still he had decided to believe them. "If you're lying then we will kill you." He warned in a dangerous tone and walked out, followed by the men.

Mr Sharma closed the door and sighed a relief, nodding at Mrs Sharma who quickly ran up the stairs. As she reached, she leaned up and tapped onto the attic door with a stick, which opened. Soon Mr Sharma walked up and stood on the stool, reaching out for the ladder and pulling it down.

"You can come down now." He uttered and Gauri slowly headed down, dressed in a long pink traditional attire, swallowing with glassy eyes.

After coming down, she faced her parents "I'm sorry."

"Why should you apologise?" Mrs Sharma questioned, hugging her daughter with teary eyes.

"Right, it's not your fault Gauri." Mr Sharma uttered, placing his hand over Gauri's head to assure her he's always with her.

He inhaled a breath as he made a decision in his mind, nodding to himself. "Who is that guy?"

Gauri and Mrs Sharma departed, as Gauri wiped her tears and faced her father "which guy?"

"The one you want to marry."

"O. . . Omkara?"

"Yes him."

"But Papa. . ."

Mr Sharma cut her in between, "I can't see you in pain. If your happiness is with him then run away with him."

Gauri looked on as she flapped her eyes at her father in surprise. He was against the idea of her marrying her love, Omkara, and now that he's agreeing for him to run away with her, she felt as if it was wrong.

"Call him." She shook her head positively and slid her phone out of her pocket.

After few rings, he answered and she inhaled her breath.

"Where are you?"

"You remembered I exist?"

"Be serious!"

"I love you. . ."

"Om, this is not the right time to joke. . ." She trailed off and looked at her father, who was staring at the wall.

"Why did you call?"

"Can you come over?"

"Did your parents finally agree for our marriage?"

"Just come over."

"Okay, I'm coming."

She disconnected the call and lowered her gazes. "He's coming." She revealed and Mr Sharma nodded, starting to head down the stairs.

X

After a while, the door on the knock slightly frightened Gauri, Mrs Sharma and Mr Sharma, who had thought Kaali Thakur's men returned, yet Mr Sharma opened the door in the hope to see Omkara.

He sighed a relief as he watched a boy face him. "Namaste uncle." He greeted, folding his hands.

"Come inside."

He walked inside and Mr Sharma closed the door. His eyes fall on Gauri, who was quiet and in tears and then at Mrs Sharma, who's eyes were puffy and red. He sensed something was wrong.

Gauri inhaled a deep breath as she met Om's eyes, "do you love me?"

He shook his head positively without a hesitation, "yes I do." He replied firmly and she smiled, "will you marry me?"

He nodded again, curling a small smile over his lips, "yes I will."

"Take her with you. . ." Om cocked his head to the side as Mr Sharma faced him. "We won't make it to the wedding, but get married tomorrow and leave this city. Move somewhere far."

Om nodded, yet he was confused. "Is everything okay?"

"Kaali Thakur. . ." Mr Sharma sighed as he began telling Om of Kaali Thakur being after his daughter Gauri.

Om was shocked, yet he understood Mr Sharma's worry.

"Don't worry uncle, I won't let anything happen to your daughter. I will take care of her and stay by her side forever." He promised with sincerity in his tone, which Mr Sharma sensed and curved a small smile, shaking his head positively.

"Please always keep her happy." Mrs Sharma requested, standing up to face Om.

"I will keep her happy forever."

Mrs Sharma smiled at him and held Gauri's hand, making her stand. She headed towards him with her, placing her hand in his.

"Take her away."

He nodded, taking her and his blessings while Gauri emotionally separated from her parents.

X

The sun rose, and Om and Gauri entered the temple together, hand in hand.

"I asked you to make arrangements, did you do them?" He asked the Pandit and the temple, who shook his head positively as a response.

"Shall we start?" The Pandit questioned and both Gauri and Om nod, walking closer to the fire, taking a seat.

The pandit starts the wedding rituals, despite marrying her love, fear was still plastered over her heart. She sensed a big tornado flying her way. She turned her head, staring at her love with care glimpsing from her eyes and her eyes began to water, he faced her and raised his eyebrow and she shook her head, hiding her tears behind her small smile.

X

"Bhai. . ." Ajay entered a room, standing behind a man who was sat on his chair, taking a sip from the cup.

He placed his cup down, and Ajay continued "she's getting married to her lover in the temple." He revealed and the cup was pushed off the table.

"Why are you standing here then! Why isn't she dragged here?" A stern cold tone of voice lashed out, as he stood up to face Ajay, who lowered his head.

"I guess I need to do this, you all are useless!" He exclaimed and stormed out of the room.

Ajay exhaled a sigh, following his elder brother, Kaali Thakur out of the room.

X

Gauri and Om were walking around the fire, hand in hand. Om was leading it, completing his half of the vows.

"Now the bride please come forward." The Pandit instructed and Gauri walked in front, leading the vows with a smile over her lips.

She knew it wasn't this easy, she knew her and Om would not marry each other if a evil spirit named Kaali Thakur was wondering around their heads. Though she wanted to speed it up and get married to Om, her heart was feeling uneasy, signalling her of the upcoming danger.

"Stop!" Her heart skipped a beat and the two stop, facing the voice. "This marriage can't happen!"

Gauri held onto Om's hand as tight as she could and Om released a sight.

"It's the wrong time! Couldn't you come after the marriage was over?" Om frustratedly questioned as he stared at bunch of men, standing inside the temple.

"You can't get married to her!"

"Who will stop me?" Om asked, scoffing at the men and the men clench their fists.

"Move out of the way!" His stern voice reach her ears and she swallowed, hiding herself behind Om.

The men move to the side and Om watched Kaali Thakur walk up the stairs of the temple, followed by his brother Ajay and few more men.

"Sir, wake up." Om opened his tired eyes after he was shaken. "We are here, in Bareilly."

He watched the dark sky outside the window and then blinked at the man who woke him up. Realising he was here, in the city where his Gauri might possibly be if she is alive, he stood up immediately and rushed out without saying a word.
