Chapter 1

How did I end up here? Gauri thought looking at the wedding Mandap and her soon to be husband Ajay. She couldn't believe that she would be married to someone else than her Omkaraji. Despite the way they had parted she loved him. She would always love him. This was a marriage of convenience because of Richa. She had to sacrifice herself for her friend.

Gauri? "Richa looked at her friend and saw the tears which hurt her deep down in her soul. She knew why Gauri was doing all of that, because she was pregnant and would die out of shame if anyone found out. How could she ever repay her? Make it up to her?

I am sorry".

Gauri looked at her friend and shook her head. Life is a cruel game Richa. The man I love hates me and considers me characterless while another one tries to blackmail me into marriage. Why am I being punished? Doesn't Sankarji love me anymore? Why is it always me in pain? Why..."Gauri's voice broke off and she tried hard to hide her tears. The wedding would start soon and no one could know that she was crying. She couldn't lose hope now, she knew her Sankarji loved her and that he would safe her from this lie. How else would she survive? She had considered running away, canceling the wedding but then Richa had told her about her pregnancy and Gauri's hands were tied.

Before Richa could say more the Pandit came to the Mandap and started preparing everything for the Wedding. Ajay and his Brother walked to their respectively partners and smiled. Gauri tried hard not to spit in his face while he had the nerve to take her hand in his.

We will marry at the same time as them , because I can't risk you changing your mind." He whispered in her ear; making her feel sick. She felt his Hand on her Waist and tried to push him away but he was stronger than he looked. The wedding started and before Ajay filled her Maang with sindoor Gauri closed her eyes defeated; only God could safe her now.

BOOOM!

With a loud Bang Dilpreet and two other Punjabi man walked into the wedding.

Gauri looked at him surprised. He had told her that he would leave because there was nothing left in Bareilly for him. Then why did he come back? She stood up but Ajay pulled her back down; causing her to hurt her head as she fell against the pillar of the mandap.

Ajay cursed Dilpreet and his timing; he had almost gotten what he wanted: Gauri.

HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY WIFE?" Dilpreet screamed in a voice that sounded too familiar to Gauri. A little disorientated she looked on in shock as Dilpreet slowly revealed his real self.

Her Husband, Her Everything Omkara. He looked ravishingly good but before she could say anything Ajay walked up to Omkara and grabbed him by his collar.

Who do you think you are Dilpreet? Gauri will be my Wife! She belongs to me."

Ajay smirked at him; he knew Gauri wouldn't back down from the wedding because of Richa's condition. His brother had told him everything and he used that to his advantage.

She is my wife Ajay. Mrs. Omkara Singh Oberois Wife and I will kill you if you ever dare to look at her again yet alone touch her. I will hunt you down and will take away everything that matters something to you. I didn't abandon my wife, I wanted her find happiness as I was the lousiest husband on earth but did you really think I wouldn't stop you? GAURI BELONGS TO ME! She is my Wife, My Life, My Everything." Omkara punched Ajay with his fist again and again until the latter fell unconscious on the floor. Within second Gauri felt Omkara lift her up and examine the wound on her head. She saw tears in his eyes and only now registered what he had said. She looked at the Man she loved the most in the world and was speechless. He came to safe her, her Sankarji had sent her true Life companion to safe her once again. Fate is cruel, Gauri thought looking at his face. He was destined to be her savior. Forever.

Are you Okay? Please Gauri tell me you are okay? Do you need a doctor?" Omkara kept asking; all the while examining her face touching her as if she would slip away. He had wanted to kill that Ajay for causing her pain and sorrow.

I am fine...But Dilpreet? I don't understand. Why did you hide from me? Why didn't you tell me directly all those things?" She referred to his declaration of their married status. He had accepted her as his wife, finally.

Because you were angry with me. I thought I would lose you forever so I thought if I become your friend and slowly win you back afterwards maybe you would forgive me. I wanted to be part of your life Gauri but I didn't want to drive you away. I thought If I came as myself you would have send me away or would have hurt me the way I deserve it after everything I put you through. I can't live without you Gauri...I just can't- I want to be your Husband the way you deserve it."

Gauri closed her eyes and let the tears fall down. Finally the words she had needed to hear to survive. But she couldn't forget what he had accused her of. Couldn't forget the letter.

She pushed him away and stood up. Omkara was surprised; did she still doubt him?

Gauri?"

I can't forget what you said to me that Day Omkaraji. I don't know If I will ever be able to but right now... My heart is broken into a million pieces. I am broken. I would have believed your words but after reading the letter you left I ...I.." Gauri stopped talking; her heartbreaking sob forcing her to stop speaking. Omkara looked confused.

What letter? I have never written any letter Gauri? I was here with you the whole time."

Omkara didn't know what she was talking about. He knew she would need time to forgive him but he wanted to spend his life time fighting for her, repenting for all his mistakes.

I went to your Home to have one final Conversation before deciding whether I would marry that Son of a Bitch or not but then I was stopped by some Guy Abhay and...and...He told me you left me a letter. How could you not believe me after seeing my Books, my Id Card? You called me characterless time and time again and you were right I was characterless by coming back to you each time you hurt me and my self-respect...I can't live like that anymore." Gauri tried to turn around to leave; feeling uncomfortable with all the Guests staring at her and her Husband's personal matter. She knew that half of the people in this room had labeled her the same after Kaali had brain washed them. Yet she didn't care there were not her husband. The one she had lived with so many Months and who still didn't know her, even after all this Time. Richa and her Husband who had already completed the Marriage looked on shocked and Gauri tried to look away. Before she could leave she was pulled back around; facing her now crying husband.

She had never seen him cry like that and tried her best to wipe away those tears. Her heart broke once again seeing his state; she loved him and despite everything she could tolerate his pain. And then he started telling her how he searched for her everywhere, how he came here to win her back, how some Abhay had tried to rip the Oberoi Family apart and how he had written that letter to create some more misunderstandings between them. To say Gauri was shocked by his revelations would have been an understatement. She was almost swoon by his love and his care and to hear that he had tried to be close to her through a disguise she couldn't help but remember her time as Chulbul. She had no right to be angry with him about the whole Dilpreet Thing. How could she ? She had done the same. And then it struck her. The Man who hated lies to the very core of his being, lied and deceived just to win her back, to get close to her, to be by her side; knowing she might never become his. And then he started talking again. Saying the words that soothed her soul, her pain.

I would never think that way about the Woman I fell for. Gauri I fell in Love with you, you were right Your Sankarji has sent me for you. And I don't regret saving you from Kaali that day, that day was the day my fate has been sealed and I became yours Gauri. I fell in love with you the minute you proved to me that we are equals, the day we first met at your Workplace. You were the first Woman to openly show her feelings, her true nature and I realized that this was the Moment I felt drawn to you. I knew that you are my Destiny but I was fighting so hard against these feelings because I misunderstood you...as always. I don't deserve you but I will try for the rest of my life. Omkara pulled her into a bone crushing hug and buried his Face in her hair. For an instant he thought she would push him away but then he felt her Hands around his waist; pulling him even closer to her. He felt her tears his Kurta.

"I- I love you too but I need more time. Maybe one day I will forgive you but right now it is too soon. She whispered and he nodded understanding. That was more that he had hoped for. That meant she was willing to be his one day.

"Let's go Home. He said and caressed her Face softly. She nodded with a faint smile. Caught up in the moment she said yes even though she knew she wasn't ready yet to go back with him.

Before they could say anything more they heard Shivaay and Rudra, who by then removed their Turbans and the glasses screaming Omkara's name. Omkara turned and saw Ajay running towards him with a wooden chair in his hands; ready to strike .at either him or Gauri

"NO! He heard Gauri scream while pulling her behind him and then felt the chair knocking him down. Omkara stronger than ever held the chair; bleeding from a wound on his head and hand. Gauri who fell on her knees beside him closed her eyes in shock.

And then she felt something wet on her Forehead. She opened her eyes and touched her Forhead, looking at her Fingers she saw Blood, Her Husband's blood. Once again he had filled her Maaang with his Blood making her his wife infront of her Sankarji. And that was the answer she had waited for. Sankarji hadn't forgotten her. He was always there watching her.

Omkara looked at Gauri and saw the blood from his Hand dripping on her forehead. Once again. He had filled her Maang with Sindoor; claiming her as his. God had blessed him with his wife and he knew they would be together for eternity. Realizing that he would pass out soon; he smiled one last time before fainting. She pulled his head on her lap; the same way she had done when he was poised by those arrows in the jungle. She would always be his pillar of strength the one place he could find peace at. He was her everything, Gauri realized that again looking at his Face with the blood streaming down. He would be okay.

Ajay smiled wickedly and looked at both of them until he felt Shivaay and Rudra grab him and beating him some more before the police walked in and arrested him.

"Why are you arresting me, Officer? He screamed, his eyes glaring with anger seeing Gauri, the object of his list, hovering over her unconscious husband. He wanted her and he wouldn't stop. No matter what. And he knew this was not over for him.

"We need an ambulance or a Doctor. Rudra said and Shivaay immediately dialed a doctor.

Gauri was still in shock seeing her Husband unconsciously lying on the floor. He would be okay, she reminded herself. He will always be okay. Her gaze met with her Mothers and then it fell on the Mandir. Gauri closed her eyes and began praying. Praying for his wellbeing.

Seconds later as if hearing her prayers , Omkara opened his eyes for a brief moment assuring his beautiful wife that he was going to be okay. She nodded under tears and caressed his cheek. She had always dreamt of touching him with all the rights of a wife.

"Gauri the doctor is here. Let's get him to your room. Shivaay said and he and Rudra carried Omkara to the room Gauri's mother led them to. Gauri was still sitting by the mandap trying to digest the entire situation when she heard Ajay's Mother cursing her and her mother.

"Because of your shameless daughter my poor Son was framed. My son is a good boy.

Gauri stood up and was about to defend herself when she saw Shivaay and Rudra walk towards the elder woman. She hurried by their side.

"Shivaay Bhaiya please. Gauri was afraid he would release his ruthless SSO Avatar.

"No Gauri I won't hear a word against my Sister in law and most importantly the woman I consider my little sister. I respect you. Shivaay said turning towards Ajay's mother. But that doesn't mean you are allowed to badmouth about my Brothers Wife. You son is a blackmailing pig you used a misunderstanding between husband and wife for his own gain. He knew that Gauri would do anything for her friend and he used that to his own advantage so you have absolutely no right to say a word against Gauri.

Ajay's Mother looked away ashamed and left with Mukesh and Richa following her. She knew that she was wrong and had to leave before she could humiliate herself more.

Gauri sighed in relief and hugged her Bade Bhaiya. Shivaay smiled and hugged her back.

"Thank you for saving me from that bas***d.

"You are an Oberoi Gauri. We are a Family and we will never abandon our Family. Shivaay simple said and Gauri knew he was right. She was part of their Family, even when Omkara didn't consider her his wife the entire family stood behind her, beside her always believing in her. They treated her like a daughter, sister and a daughter in law. She never felt like an outsider. Rudra and Gauri's Mother came back after talking to the doctor.

"The doctor said we have to take Om to the hospital. They want to make sure he doesn't have any internal brain damage because the chair hit him pretty hard on his head.

Gauri paled visibly and looked at the Paramedics carrying her husband out. She wanted to hold his hand to be by his side but something stopped her. Maybe he loved her yes and maybe she loved him but her heart was still broken; not able to forget the pain.

As if in sensing her inner turmoil Rudra pulled her into a hug and told her that she should stay here while he and Shivaay would take care of Om. Gauri nodded. She needed time to think. She needed to think about all the things Omkara had said to her, she needed to find out if she could trust him again. But what if he breaks my heart again, Gauri thought panicking. Running into her run and closing the door was the first step.

"Gauri? Are you okay? Her Mother asked concerned. She never knew that her daughter and her husband had that many problems. Feeling bad for her daughter she tried to console her but realized that right now Gauri needed to be alone. She needed time.

Gauri cried loudly sitting in the shower. She felt as if she never had any reason to smile. Ever since she had met Omkara she had been crying. What if I am not right for him? What if he is not right for me? Why can't we be happy? I just wanted him to love me...Gauri thought and closed her eyes. She didn't know what to do. She never had. All she knew was that she needed to make sure he was okay and to send him home. For now, Gauri couldn't bring herself to give him what he wanted, she wasn't ready to go back home as Mrs. Omkara Singh Oberoi and her Husband had to know that. He needed to know that he had a long way to go before she could be by his side. With that decision Gauri finished her Shower and got dressed. She wore a bright yellow Salwar Suit with a matching Dupatta and her signature bangles and then she looked at her Mangalsutra. With a sigh she wore it and then applied some light make up. Looking into her Mirror she felt as if she couldn't recognize herself anymore. She lost herself in trying to be the perfect daughter, perfect Bahu and perfect Wife. Who was Gauri Kumari Sharma?

"Gauri? Shivaay Beta and Rudra Beta called. Omkara is conscious now. Gauri heard her Mothers voice and closed her eyes.

"I can do this.I will tell him what I have decided. Right now I have to find myself again...only then I can give our relation a new Chance. This will be his first test. Gauri talked to herself before leaving to meet Omkara at the Hospital.

"Where is Gauri? Omkara asked his brother; still a little tired from the medicine the doctor had given him a few hours back. The headache was killing him but he wanted to see her before sleeping. He wanted her to hold his hand to tell him that everything would be okay. That she wouldn't leave him and that she would give him another Chance.

"I just called her Mother Om. Give her some time, maybe there is no Rickshaw. Shivaay said with a smile and returned to answer some business mails. Like always he had a lot of work but his brother was far more important; knowing that Omkara was out of any danger he had relaxed. But he was still concerned about the decision Gauri had made. What if she wasn't able to forgive his little brother? Could he blame her? Could he convince her?

"Om so restless ha? Chulbul Bhabi will be here soon I know it. So don't worry. Rudra said with a smile causing Omkara and Shivaay to chuckle softly.

"I miss her. When she isn't by my side I feel lost. Omkara confessed after a while.

"I know that feeling. Shivaay said understandingly. He felt the same way about Anika.

They heard a knock on the Door and Omkara sat up. Slowly his Wife walked into the room in a bright yellow Salwar Suit. She looked ethernal with her hair swept to one side and her signature bangles making a soft sound as she closed the door. Other than that she only wore her Mangalsutra and Omkara smiled. She looked even more Beautiful than ever and for the first in a very long time he was proud that everyone could see that she was married, that she was his wife. Infront of the whole World , she would be called Mrs. Omkara Singh Oberoi. He would give her all the respect she deserved.

"Bade Bhaiya, Rudy Bhaiya Could you leave us alone for a second. Gauri said and looked everywhere but at her Husband. She needed to stay strong.

Shivaay and Rudra nodded and left surprised. They hoped that everything would end well.

"Gauri Are you okay? Did you get hurt? Omkara said and held out his hand. Gauri slowly walked towards him and took his Hand in hers. Their Hands fit perfectly into each other, Omkara noticed with a smile and pulled Gauri closer, causing her to blush a little. She was sitting on the Bed opposite to him and looked at their intertwined fingers. It felt so good to hold his hand, she thought sadly and then looked into his eyes.

She saw Love and Concern. No hate, no anger. Nothing.

"Omkaraji I have to say something. Gauri started nervously until she felt his lips on her forehead. She stilled for a second. Feeling his lips on her skin made her nervous.

His lips moved to her cheek and just before he could kiss her she slightly pushed him away. She wasn't ready for that, not after everything that happened. Not after she made her decision. He needed to know; right.

"I need more Time. For now that is all I ask from you, I lost myself in trying to be the perfect daughter, the perfect Bahu and the perfect wife. Maybe that is why I am so reculant to trust you, to be with you. I feel like I have to find out who Gauri is, I need to do that before I can be by your side. Omkaraji you hurt me beyond imagination and it will take you allot of time to make that up. Maybe a lifetime. She said and looked at his face. He was a little bit pale and she saw the fear, the confusion and the pain in his eyes. Gauri knew he regretted his behavior but that didn't mean she would forgive him easily.

"I understand Gauri. Even if I have to wait till our next Birth I will do everything in my power to make it up to you, to prove to you I will be the husband you have always dreamt of , to be the guy that deserves you. Right now all I can do is to support you in your Quest. If you have to find yourself I will do my best to help me but Can I ask something in return? He said and caressed her face. She nodded under tears. Never in her wildest dreams had she thought he would be so understanding and then it hit her. She never knew who her husband was, was kind of person he was. Gauri realized in that second that the man she had met and fell in love with was so different from his real self and that the man in front of her was the real Omkara Singh Oberoi, a man she could easily love forever.

"I can't live without you , so wherever you go Can I come with you? I won't bother you I swear but I can't sleep peacefully if I wouldn't know if you are okay, safe if I can't take care of my wife somehow. Please. I will try my best not to bother you with my presence but living without you is impossible for me. I would die. He said closing his eyes and resting his forehead against her. Now both of them were crying and Omkara awaited her answer with bated breath.

"Yes.

Both of them opened her eyes and got closer unconsciously. As if she was under some spell Gauri caressed his face and looked at the man that was her husband.

"Thank you. He said and kissed her forehead once again; sealing their fate.
