Fiery and Sweet
★~4 years later~★
"You realise that's cream not white right?" Lily told me as matter of fact.
"I don't care. I want purple!" I cried.
"That's just not how weddings work!"
"Well if Delilah wants purple. Why not purple?" Irene questioned.
"Shut up Rene. Go try the other one Lilah." Willow asserted.
"No. Screw you. I'm wearing purple. And there's just the perfect lilac dress I have in mind. It's practically white. With a hint of purple. I'm wearing that." I said and hurried back to take off the poofy wedding dress.
"Can you believe she's getting married!" Willow sighed.
"I know right, it's almost unreal." Rene sighed next.
"What's up with both of you? No prospects?" Lily asked.
"Well Sam and Rene have been on and off and on and off and on and off and-" Willow was rambling.
"We're off right now," Irene complained.
"And Jesse?" Lily asked.
"We did break up once, I tried dating again. But. We got back together. He's home now you know!" Willow gushed.
"And I'm done. Let's go!" I hollered as we left the bridal shop.
"I can't believe you're getting your dress the day of your wedding." Lily sighed.
"Look I had this dress on hold I just needed time to negotiate with you. Make you tired of looking around and then boom saviour option. And I've been busy. First few years of being a lawyer is hard."
"And the place we work at is on the other side of Miami." Willow sighed.
"Yeah. It was hard enough to get a week off. For the honeymoon. They almost cancelled my wedding!"
"Well the honeymoon is all that matters." Rene giggled.
"Shut your monstrosity Rene." I said embarrassed.
Then they all giggled.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
"So how did he propose?" Lily asked.
We were both alone. At the top of Aidan and I's beach house. It was right by the quieter side of Miami. Right next to the sea. 15 minutes from my parents. And 20 from where Aidan worked. It was made of glass and wood. We were in a quiet attic room. With a view of the everything below. As the house was a bustling nest.
I sat infront of my vanity. The mirror reflected my anticipation. Lily was behind me, making my hair. She was dressed in a aquamarine blue pretty bridesmaid dress. Her hair was open and braided. With white flowers.
"Focus on the hair."
"Oh come on. You called us so soon. We didn't have any time to talk!"
"Okay. Just keep doing the hair. I want us to be married today!" I cried.
She nodded and smiled.
"He waited for me to get back from work. It was night. And there are these glittering sea creatures that come up to shore from time to time. He'd set up dinner. And we had dinner and wine. And we walked by the sea. And suddenly he was on his knees. Asking me to marry him. I remember being so shocked and overjoyed. I've been really busy with work. It's been hard. For the both of us. But then he made me realise who we were before. I remember saying, yes a thousand times yes. I've always wanted to say that. And that's it. We were to be wed." I grinned at the end.
Lily had tiny tears in her eyes.
"You both have really grown into wonderful people. You know when I first met AJ. He was but a scared boy with ample ambition and a beautiful fedora hat. You made him happier Lilah. He's never been more happier. You made a man out of our silly little boy," Lily whispered.
"We helped eachother. I was a shell before. I didn't know how to live. I was so lost and alone. He gave me friends. The takers."
"That's how love works Delilah."
My hair was done it was in a loose bun. Braided bun. Filled with tiny purple white flowers.
Now the dress.
She helped me get into it.
It was a lilac and white dress with a mermaid sheer tulle. It had a daisy bodice. And a daisy covered bust.
It was perfect.
After then was the veil. The veil was white. And light lilac.
It was huge and light.
She set it on my bun. And helped me into my shoes.
"Are you ready?" She asked.
"Yes," I replied.
Willow and Rene arrived. They ooed and aahed. Willow gave me a purple butterfly pin for my something borrowed. And Rene gave me a blue handkerchief for my something blue. I tied it around my hand.
Willow was wearing an orange-yellow dress. While Rene stunned a red one.
They helped me down. Where I saw the rest of the crew and my parents.
AJ was not allowed to see me.
We'd wanted a small, magical wedding. We'd only invited direct family. My parents, Uncle Ed, Salazar and cleo. The takers. Sam and Rene. John's girlfriend Lina. And a few other guests.
Two of AJ's work buddies. Milo and Dan.
Cleo was our flower dog. G was officiating the wedding. The girls were the bridesmaids. John and Jake were the best men.
The beach was lit with tiny lights. The chairs were lace white. And their was a tiny wooden alter with fairy lights for the marriage.
Everyone finally settled.
Far off I could see Irene and Sam with their hands interwined whispering something.
And light beautiful, music began.
"Are you ready Deli beli?" Papa asked.
"We're so happy for you darling," Mum whispered.
"I'm ready papa." He was crying. Mum kissed him and soothed him.
Cleo was ready for action she was cutely howling.
I took each of their hands and walked down the isle.
Everyone looked at me. Cleo was right ahead. She had a purple tiara on.
I was holding a bouquet of pretty yellow flowers.
The look on AJ's face when he saw me was worth everything I'd ever been through.
He was completely taken over. He looked so handsome.
He had a cream vest, black suit. And a tiny purple flower in his breast pocket.
His hair was golden glory. And his gold green eyes were looking right into mine.
I kissed my parents and my father gave my hand to him.
He held it gently and tightly.
And the ceremony so began.
I kept repeating the words G was saying. But my mind, my heart, my everything already belonged to the man infront of me.
Vows.
AJ nodded to go first.
Our hands were entangled.
"When I saw you, for all rights for the first time. At the twilight exit. I couldn't take my eyes off you. I kept thinking, there is more here in this one glance. And I know you know it. I will never stare at anyone else again. I need nearly nothing so very nearly. But to be loved by you. And to love you. You're so crazy and so brave. Sometimes I'm afraid for the person standing infront of you. I remember the first time I saw you fight. You were glorious. You bewitched me. I want you too know. You have me." He breathed out- wavered.
"Till every last star in the galaxy dies and even after that inevitable end- you have me. I don't care how complicated this gets. I still want you," He finished.
I could feel a hot tear falling off my cheek.
It was my turn.
"I have memorized more of you than you'll ever forget of me. If touch is born with a memory of its own than you and I both, are covered in encyclopaedias of skin. I remember feeling naked when you looked at me. But for once I wanted to be looked at. I wanted to be seen. To be noticed. You taught me how to live to the fullest. I remember not being with you everyday. I remember how hard it was. I remember missing the smell of your neck, the taste of your flirtation. And I thought this is craving. I am not afraid to love you, no but it is my lack of fear that allows me to behold such a fearsome truth. I'm yours. I'm yours. I'm yours," I took a breath.
"Grow old along with me Aidan Jones, the best is yet to be. You have no idea how much space you take up inside of me."
He had a sliver of water in his eyes too.
His hands were slightly shaking. I held them tighter.
The rings.
I made him wear his silver with the tiniest of black diamonds.
And he gave me the prettiest, daintiest. Wedding ring in my favourite shade.
And then we said together.
"To have and to hold, to cherish, to love, to sacrifice for. In sickness and in heath. Forevermore till death do us part."
"Aidan Edmund Jones have you searched the streets of earth and have found the one your heart belongs too? Do you take, Delilah Willa O'dair to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I have, and I do," He said smiling.
"Delilah Willa O'dair have you searched heaven and hell and have found the one your soul yearns for? And do you take him, Aidan Edmund Jones to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I have, and I do," I swooned in answer.
"Then it is my greatest honour and happiness to announce you Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride." G announced.
Everyone cheered and as twilight struck in purple and gold. And the horizon cried a blue thunder.
Aidan and I kissed a kiss both fiery and sweet. Gentle and Crazy. Wild and precious.
My husband and I have just began.
Sincerely yours,
Delilah Jones.
