Jane
A few days later some bad news began to break. Carter was nowhere to be found. After Olivia pressed charges, police went to arrest him and he had disappeared with money he stole from his parents. To make things worse, Olivia found out he had a record and a history of violence. If he is found, on the other hand, he has three warrants for his arrest, so jail time is certain.
Today Harry and I decided to try and go out and think about something positive. Harry seemed pretty down for some reason, and I was beginning to feel bad that I offered to take him out in the first place. "Are you going to ask the guy for the spare part?" I asked him as he stood looking at motor oils for my car.
"Yeah, might as well I need my bike to work soon I hate getting rides." He grabbed a bottle of the oil and walked down the aisle of the store. It was getting closer to Christmas so I assumed that was the issue. Another reason was that Harry's mom began calling every day. At first, she would call and he would make Louis or myself answer it. We'd say he was working or in school and she would sound disappointed. Yesterday she called and I answered quickly asking me who I was so I told her.
"I'm not ready yet, just tell her I can't talk please?" He begged me.
I sighed taking the phone and answering. "Hello?"
"Hello, is Harry there?" Her voice was soft yet had a strong accent.
"Oh no, I'm sorry he's not available right now." I looked at him as he stared at the floor. "Who's calling?"
"This is Anne, his mother. Can you just tell me if he's alright, I know today must be hard for him." I looked over at him and he had his shoulders slumped and a look of confusion.
"Yes, he's okay, he just needs time," I said honestly.
"May I ask who this is?" She said curiously.
"This is Jane, his girlfriend," I said awkwardly.
"Well Jane, please take care of him until he can forgive me. And please tell him I forgive him as well."
"Jane?" I looked up and Harry had a box in his hand and a receipt in the other. "Let's go." I followed out into the rain where I opened the driver's side and quickly slid in. It was humid today, hot and rainy don't mix well.
My phone began ringing and when I noticed the number I quickly answered. "Hello...yes...oh okay...yeah It's fine...thanks anyways." I hung up looking down at my phone and Harry asked something but I stayed quiet.
"Jane?"
"I didn't get the job," I said disappointedly. "This sucks, I was trying to be happy today and now I feel like crap." I leaned back in the seat and felt his hand grab mine.
"Well, you'll find something soon baby. It's their loss, they're probably going to hire some moron." I smiled as he began talking about the company. "Screw them, let's go back to your place and I'll order us food."
As tempting as that was I knew for a fact everyone was home including my sister and her new annoying friend she made recently. "No let's go to your's, I need kisses." I pouted at him. "We have no privacy at my house."
"True." He agreed. I drove towards his house and luckily no one was home. I jumped on his bed and sighed in relaxation. He crawled over me and kissed my neck. "You said you wanted kisses." He reminded me. I placed my hands on his cheeks and pulled him to my face.
"Kiss me like you mean it," I told him, repeating what he has said to me on a few occasions. He pressed his lips to mine, slowly it turned urgent. He practically ripped off his shirt in a hurry. Just as I was about to unbutton my blouse his phone went off.
"Jesus every time, it's like the universe doesn't want us to do anything!" He stood up looking at the phone and passed it to me. It was his mom. "Isn't it like eleven at night over there?" He asked me as if I knew. I looked down at the phone and knew the next thing I said would start an argument.
"Answer the phone, Harry."
"No." He shook his head like a child.
"Harry, answer the damn phone." I pushed it to his chest. "What if she needs to talk to you? What if something is wrong?"
"Like what, is my sister dead, oh wait that already happened!" The phone stopped ringing and he grabbed it throwing it to the wall, luckily it didn't break. I walked over picking it up and putting it in my pocket. "I don't want to talk to her." He was about to walk out of the room when I ran to the door to stop him.
"Stop it! I get that you are mad or upset or whatever, but she has been calling for weeks, don't you think she needs to talk to you!" I'm sure to anyone at this moment we looked like a funny sight. Harry was almost a foot taller than I was and I had never raised my voice at him. I felt like a small child.
"I'm not ready for this!" He yelled back. "You don't get it, she should hate me!"
"Well clearly that's not the issue, if you don't talk to her I'm leaving, I swear to god Harry!" I put my hands on my hips and he looked at me with pain in his eyes. Suddenly he got closer to me and was pressed up against me. For a second I was confused but then he took the phone from my pocket. He sat down on the chair by his desk with a huff. I was just happy he was listening to me.
Yes threatening him wasn't ideal, but it worked.
I looked down on his desk where a bunch of drawings and sketches of cartoons laid out. He hadn't drawn on his notebooks in class in a while, glad to see he was still doing it.
"W-what do I say?" He stuttered.
"Just say hi first and ask her if she's okay?" I scratched his scalp and kissed his forehead. "Do you want me to wait outside?"
"No, stay here." He pressed the number and redialed. For a moment I thought she wouldn't answer but what seemed like the last second she did.
"Hello?" He stared at the phone opening and closing his mouth but no words came out. "Harry?" He looked at me and shook his head that he couldn't do it.
"Anne? It's me, Jane." I took the phone and put it on speaker so we can both hear her.
"Oh, I thought Harry was calling me back?" She said disappointedly. "Is everything okay?"
I looked at him and he seemed lost. "He's here he just doesn't know what to say?" I said honestly.
"Oh, Harry I know that the last time we saw each other we had that argument but, I miss you, sweetheart." The look on his face was that of a young child getting the exact present they asked for on Christmas morning. I looked at him with a smile.
"Mum?" He said quietly.
"Yes my sweet boy, how are you?" She was clearly crying with joy like Harry. "Are you well, are you eating? Where are you living?" She asked with concern.
"Yeah, I'm okay, I've never been better actually." He told her honestly with a smile. "I'm eating, I live in California now and I have a house."
"I know these past days have been hard for you, I can feel it." He grabbed a pencil and paper and wrote on it 'my sister's birthday was yesterday'. Weird that he didn't mention it.
"Yeah but I've been okay so far." He put his arm around me to lean his head on my chest. "I just always thought you were still angry with me." He told her.
She sighed. "I was for some time, but I realized how stupid I was for punishing you for something you did to protect Gemma." He closed his eyes as she spoke and I could see tears beginning to fall from his eyes. "None of that matters anymore I would love to see you, sweetheart. I miss you." She told him.
"I-I miss you too, how about Christmas, y-you could come here and celebrate with me." He said nervously looking up at me for what seemed like approval. I just nodded giving him a thumbs up.
"I would love that." After a small conversation the two hung up and I stayed quiet until he spoke.
"I'm having my family here for Christmas." He stated. "I think I have to get a tree now."
"You'll need decorations too." I giggled. He stood quickly putting on a shirt and looking at me. "Where are you going?"
He looked around and tried to find something. "We have to go get a tree Jane, my mother's coming here- I need matching plates." He walked out of the room and I huffed in frustration as I heard him opening things.
I followed him and sighed as he looked for something. "Baby?" He looked around and finally saw it, his wallet. "My love?" I tried to get his attention again.
"Where is my card?" He said to himself looking in his wallet. He snapped his fingers walking past me. "Louis room." Before he could get to Louis's room I stopped him.
"Harry!" He looked at me and paused his actions. "It's raining outside, as happy as I am for you, can't you go get everything tomorrow?" I asked him. "Please, we have time to ourselves and I know we won't for a while because you work all week and then your aunt gets here on Monday and we won't have a minute to ourselves."
"But we'll need to decorate." He looked around at his somewhat clean living room. "And clean."
"And we will, tomorrow after work we'll go and get everything. We might actually have some extra lights in my garage so you won't need to buy them." I held his hands making him smile and nod.
"I got excited." He laughed. "I just, feel really happy right now." I hugged him and he hugged me back. "Thank you for making me talk to her." Honestly, I'm just glad this didn't blow up in my face. His mom could have easily been negative, but I'm glad she wasn't.
"Okay let's go relax." I offered.
He chuckled walking in front of me, my arms around him. "To be honest, I don't think I can now." I pushed him down on his bed and he seemed very content. He flipped over on his stomach, picking up my hand and placing it on his head. "Scratch my head?" He asked. I hummed laying beside him and running my fingers through his hair. "Fuck me, why does that feel so good." He turned over placing his head on my lap. I massaged his arm too and he just groaned and said. "You have magic hands." I giggled looking at his arm.
"You booze you lose?" I read his tattoo. "Is that a Greenbay Packers logo?" He looked at his arm and just laughed "You know I've never actually paid attention to all of them turn over."
"Some are embarrassing as hell." He warned me. "Like I have the word 'big' on my big toe." I looked down at his foot and sure enough in faded ink was the word 'big' on his toe. "I also have a star that I filled in my self." On his right arm above his elbow was a bunch of random doodles.
"Why?" He shrugged. "What's your favorite one?" He looked around and pointed to the 'g' on his shoulder. "Cute 'g' for your sister?." He nodded. "Are you going to get more?" He looked at me and pointed to the middle of his chest.
"I'm going to get your name right here." I smacked his chest and he hissed. "What?"
"No, you're not, you weirdo." I shook my head.
"One day." He whispered.
"No Harry." He smirked. "Stop it, if you do I'll be upset," I warned him.
"Why?" He sat up.
"Because what if one day you look down and regret it?" I looked at him sadly.
He pulled me on him carefully grabbing a pillow to prop his head up. "I will never regret getting the name of my first love on me." He pressed a kiss to my forehead. "My only love." He held me close and I felt my eyes getting heavy.
"Maybe something else?" I mumbled. "Like my handwriting or-"
"How about your lips?" I lifted my head to listen. "I get your lips on my neck, right here in the spot I like where you kiss me?"
"Wouldn't that hurt." I pressed my lips to his neck.
"No, well maybe a little, but I'm used to it."
"How cliché." I disagreed. "Not on your neck, maybe on your chest?"
"Okay don't think I'm not serious about this." I rolled my eyes putting my head down again.
"Are my lips your favorite thing about me?" He hummed in thought.
"Yeah, and your eyes too." He chuckled. "And then your boobs, and your butt-"
"Oh my god!" I laughed. "Are you serious?" I sat up so I was sitting on his lap. "My butt isn't even nice." He placed his hand on my waist and then down to my ass to squeeze.
"It feels nice." He winked at me. "What's your favorite thing about me?"
I looked over him, playfully checking him out. "You have pretty lips too, I'm sort of jealous. I bet you could wear lipstick better than I can. I really like your eyes and-" I grabbed his hands from my ass and held them in mine. "-your hands, I like them too."
"My hands?" I nodded. "They're big huh?" He winked at me.
I went back to lay down, one leg on each side of him. I got up to his ear and whispered "Yup, and I like them on my butt." His hands went back to my ass where I suddenly felt a quick slap. "Oh!" I squeaked. He did it again harder. "Harry!"
"Jane!" He copied my voice. "Wait do you have a middle name?" I squinted my eyes rolling off of him to lay on the other side of the bed. "Jane?"
"What's your middle name?" I asked. I wasn't a fan of mine so I wanted to know his first. He turned on his side pulling me in again so we were face to face.
"It's Edward." Well, that's not embarrassing. "Now what's yours?" I shook my head. "Come on I told you mine, what's yours, Jane? At least give me the first letter?" He begged.
I rolled my eyes. "P." He looked deep in thought and began saying names.
"Penelope, Patricia, Paula, Pamela, Petunia?" I kept shaking my head and he squinted his eyes in frustration. "Just tell me!"
"Prudence," I whispered. He raised an eyebrow. "Yeah." I agreed "I hate it too."
"Jane Prudence Irving." He said it slowly. "It's nice."
"Harry Edward Styles." I put my hand up towards him. "Nice to meet you, I'm your girlfriend." He began laughing and I knew that tonight would be a very silly night.
