"Boy, get up. You stressing me out, damnit." Almond says, pulling my arm. I push him off me. "Almond, quit fuckin' with me! My momma is dead!" I yell at him. He pushes me back.  "Keep your hands, feet, and all other objects to your gotdamn self! Didn't you learn that in pre school?" he snaps back.

"Almond, why you lying?" I snap at him. Legend starts crying. Almond picks him up then cuts his eyes at me, rubbing his back. "You done got my baby boo upset. That girl was never dead, where the hell yall get that from? Are yall like, mentally retarded? There was no funeral, no ashes, and yall never saw the body. You know what that means? She was never dead, dumb ass. How did yall come up with that shit? Who the hell told yall that dumb shit? You know what, I never understood why Jaylen went and got her whole face on his rib, plus her name in three damn different places on his body. Hell." he snaps, shaking his head.

"Jaylen was gone do that anyway so shut up." I say. "You still haven't answered my question. Who told you she was dead? That first time some years ago, she played dead and nothing ever even happened to her only because she had to set somebody up. But this don't make sense... who said she was dead?" he asks. "The cops, man. The paramedics. All of those fucking people that was on the scene. They came to us telling us they sorry but our momma was dead and that her body was shot up so bad to where she was unrecognizable and that her body parts were detached from her body.  So, the fuck makes you think we would want to see her body like that? You think we would've just came up with this out of thin air? No! The police and paramedics told us this shit! So, no we are not mentally retarded!" I yell at him, causing people to look at us crazy.

"First of all, I'm a full grown man. I may be gay, but I'm still a man. So that means you are not about to keep hollering at me like I'm Reshawd' s age." he says. "Man, whatever. So, what's going on? How the hell is she alive?" I ask. "Come on." he says,  rushing off. I grip Legend's stroller and start following him to his truck. I put the stroller in the back. I put Legend in the car seat Almond has in here from when Naly was a baby then get in the front. "Where we going?" I ask.  "The hospital." he answers. "Naw... naw, man. I can't see her all messed up." I say, shaking my head. I still can't even believe she alive. "You want answers, right?" he asks. "Yes " I answer. "So do I because this don't make sense and this the only way we'll get them. It will be a hard pill to swallow but you have to stay strong, Eric. Understand? If you don't think you're strong enough, tell me right now because it's quite a sight to see. I still break down when I see her... so can you deal with it?" he asks. I blow. "I will... but let me get my brothers here with me. Not the girls or King though. Just Jay, DJ, and Shawd." I say. He nods his head. "Prince and Kwame?" he asks. "Hell no, fuck them. It was their crazy ass momma who did it anyway." I say. "They're still your brothers, Eric." he says. "I'm never in my life forgiving them. I blame them cause their momma never would've did it if they would have stayed in the DR where they asses belong." I say. He shakes his head, then pulls off.

JAYLEN

I'm chilling with Raven. "No, baby, you cheating!" she exclaims, laughing. "What? How the hell you cheat in Go Fish?" I ask. I ain't ever been the type of dude to sit up playing card games but whatever she wanna do, I'm with. "You tell me because you are." she says. I laugh then push her. She pushes me back then falls on top of me. Both of us start dying laughing, then kissing. I sit up and grip her ass, then put my hand between her legs. She jumps then moans, letting me play with it. She starts trying to take my shirt off. I stop her. "We don't need to do that yet." I say. She nods her head. "Yeah." she mumbles. I'm trying to wait a lil while longer before giving it to her because she a virgin and I don't think she ready.

My phone starts ringing. "Wassup, nut gargler?" I ask Eric. "Jay... come to the hospital." he says. "Why? Who got shot up this time?" I ask, getting up. "Nobody... I just found out some fucked up stuff. Go get Reshawd from the park. DJ here already." he says. "Aight." I say, then hang up. "Everything okay?" Raven asks me, watching me get dressed. "What you think if I gotta rush to the hospital?" I sarcastically ask her. She looks at me crazy. "I just asked you a question." she says with an attitude. "And I gave yo ass a answer." I say. "I don't know what your problem is but don't take it out on me, I was only trying to help you." she says. "You irritating the shit out of me." I say. "Since I'm so irritating, how about we just be done with each other then? I don't know who the fuck you used to date, but I'm not her and I refuse to be disrespected by any man, you included, Jaylen!" she screams. I blow and keep getting dressed. "Okay, I see how it is." she says, walking to the front door. "Leave if you done. Once you leave, don't try to come back. I treat you like a queen and you trying to be done over something tiny. Do you then." I say. "I can take care of myself. Your money don't matter to me." she snaps on me. I grab my keys then walk past her. "Bet." I say, pushing her out the front.  I lock the house up. "Find a way home then since you done." I say, getting in my car. She flips me off, then throws a rock at my Benz. I don't have time for that, I'm trying to get to the hospital.

I just picked Shawd up. "Why you smell like loud, dumb ass?" I ask. "I was smokin'... duh." he slowly says. I shake my head. "Get my bag of clothes out the back and change. You can't go in the hospital smellin' like a skunk." I say. He laughs then grabs the bag from the back. "Why we going anyway? Who got shot?" he asks. "I don't know but we going." I say.

We just got in the lobby where Eric and DJ looking like a cat died, sitting next to Almond.  "What's wrong?" I ask, picking Legend up. "Ma not dead." DJ says.  I damn near dropped my son just then.

"Huh?" Reshawd asks. "The police lied... but why?" Eric asks nobody in particular. I sit down then blow. "We finna see her?" I ask. "Yes... but you can't bring Legend back there." Almond says. "Mia on her way to get him, bruh." DJ says.

Mia just came and got Legend. "Yall have to stay strong, okay?" Almond says. We follow him up to the ICU. It smells like death and the nurses made us put on masks, gloves, and a gown type thing. We follow Almond to a room. He opens it up. My eyes instantly tear up. Reshawd falls to his knees, crying in his hands. DJ looks away, breathing heavy and crying. Eric passed out on the wall. Almond shakes him, then pulls him up. He closes the door.

Ma don't even look the same. She pale and thinner than she was, she got marks all over her body, she got a big mark on her neck and her chest got an odd bruise on it. She just completely fucked up. Almond slightly shakes her. "Whaaaaaat... Almond?" she slowly says, sounding like she in serious pain. "It's me, Zaya." he softly says. "Did you bring me flowers? The pink ones?" she slowly asks, giggling. Something sounds off about her. "Of course, beautiful. You ready for me to do your hair?" he asks. I'm glad he been keeping her hair and hygiene up. "Please." she says, giggling.  "Ma" Reshawd mumbles, reaching to touch her. She screams and starts crying. "No, no, no... don't touch me. Don't. Almond, don't let them hurt me! Please!" she begs, crying.  "What the fuck? I'm your son!" Reshawd screams at her.

"Reshawd, stop. She not the same." Almond lowly growls. "How could you think I would hurt you?" he mumbles, crying harder. She giving him a cold stare. Her face softens.  "Reshawd?" she mumbles. He nods his head. "Eric, Jaylen, and DJ." he says, pointing at us three. She slowly looks at us then out the window. "Why did yall never come see me?" she softly asks. Gotdamn. "Zaya, they-" she cuts Almond off. "Answer me!" she screams. "Ma... we thought you died." DJ says. She lets out an evil ass laugh. Her eyes start to darken. She starts playing with her hands, growling something and letting out evil giggles. "She scaring the fuck out of me, G." DJ mumbles, stepping to the door. "I will murder you if you leave." she hisses at him. "Zaya, calm down." Almond says. "Oh, no. Where is Craig?" she growls. "In jail." I answer. She shakes her head.  "Ya know... these Motherfuckers think I'm special ed now. They think I'm slow but I'm not... I don't remember every little thing but who would? I was in a damn coma for damn near three years." she snarls. "Zaya, you scaring me, honey. You have never talked like this up here." Almond says, scared as hell.

She looks at us. "Get me out of here." she says. "We can't." Eric says. "Figure out how then. Get me the fuck out of here today, gotdamnit! You know why, that hoe set us up! She knew I was coming! She had to! The police don't respond that damn quick! The motherfuckers were never even called in that house! Each gun had a silencer except the one she shot me with! Not even five minutes later, the police in the mothafucka! I was unconscious, not dead! I remember Craig crying. I could see him! It may be crazy, but I saw him when I was unconscious! Those cops were on her payroll! They were waiting! She even said they were! I'm so fucked up now because on my way to the hospital those motherfuckers raped me and beat me with everything they could! They're the ones who told yall I died! Get me out of here!" she screams, crying harder.

"Bet." I say. It all makes perfect sense now. There's no way they would've been able to play that off without being on her payroll.  "And another thing. Prince and Kwame ain't slick. Kwame stayed in Memphis. That nigga knew shit was gone hit the fan. Notice she had everything planned on time. How else would she know the exact time me and Craig left the house and arrived there? Prince told her ass. He knew the whole time. I did a lot of thinking in here. I want them dead. Get me out of here." she growls. "Everything making sense now." DJ mumbles. Everything does make sense.
