Y/n's Pov

       
           It was the end of August I had a week before my first year of Hogwarts. I was excited but absolutely terrified of becoming more of a disappointment to my family. I knew I wasn't like them, I was never like them. Everyone told me Gryffindor is the most amazing house at Hogwarts and no Hawkins had ever been sorted elsewhere and all I can think about is how upset they will be if I break that cycle.

I had already started packing and as nervous as I was I couldn't help but get giddy at the thought of this new adventure I'd be on. Away from my family and all this pressure they force upon me. I was excited to be able to see my best friends as well. Pansy Parkinson my best friend since we were four years old and my other best friend Lorenzo Berkshire whom I had been friends with since we were practically newborns.

Anywhere I went Lorenzo was there I can't even think back to a time I didn't know him. Lorenzo was always the idiot best friend next-door and I loved that I could call from my window to him at any minute of the day and he'd come running. Pansy however lived an hour away but still made her parents let her visit every weekend saying "Y/n needs me" with the biggest and most adorable puppy eyes I've ever seen, no wonder they could never say no.

It was time. My mother had woken me up at 7am in order to be ready for the train. I was so tired from yelling back and forth with Enzo last night I had completely forgotten about going to bed early.

I groggily stood up and changed into a grey hoodie and some black ripped jeans before closing my trunk, grabbing my wand, and heading to the train station. Once arriving to the platform of 9 3/4 I hugged my parents goodbye but before I could go they yelled out to me. "We expect only the best from you, our little Gryffindor!" And with that I sighed and made my way through the wall.

As soon as I walked through a pair of hands grabbed me and pulled me into a familiar but tight embrace. "What the fu-" was all that came out until I was cut off by the girl in front of me.
"Y/n it's me shush," it was Pansy and as soon as I recognized her I hugged her back.

We started chatting for a bit about our summers, her telling me all about Rome as her parents took her on a fancy vacation across Europe. As we talked we put our trunks down and I looked around. "Hey where's Enzo?" I asked remembering he said he'd meet us before we got on the train which we had to get on quickly if we wanted to find an empty compartment.

"I don't know," she told me as she stared down at her nails, admiring her fresh manicure "but if he doesn't get here soon we're leaving without his ass" is all she said and I couldn't help myself but laugh at the comment.

Her and Enzo never really got along due to fighting over my attention which Enzo thought he was entitled to because he "knew me longer" whereas Pansy thought that was absolute hogwash.

Soon enough I felt two hands wrap around my waist and I was being lifted off the ground and spun in circles. I screamed to be put down and once I was I turned around a faced the boy who did it. "Lorenzo Berkshire what did I say about doing that" I glared at him as he just smiled cheekily at me. "I'm sorry I just couldn't resist," he said with a apologetic look I could tell wasn't actually sincere.

"Helloooo I'm here too!" Pansy said dragging out the 'hello' and staring at us. "Sorry hey Pans." Enzo said with a smile as he laughed. She waved back and looked at me, giving me a look as to say 'time to go' and I nodded. We stepped into the train, luckily finding an empty compartment towards the back and hurrying in.

"Why were you so late, Enzo" I asked curiously as I saw him leave the house before me. "I... Uh..." He stuttered and I widened my eyes, "YOU WERE TALKING TO A GIRL," I squealed loudly only to be met with him shushing me as his face grew pink "Maybe I was, Maybe I wasn't" he stated nonchalantly but I just giggled knowing I could read him so we'll.

Before I could open my mouth to tease him about it there was a knocked on the door. All of us looked up to see Draco Malfoy followed by another boy squeezing into the car. "There's no where else to sit so don't ask us to leave." Draco stated as he sat down besides Pansy who was across from me and Lorenzo. "I hope we're not intruding" the boy behind him said with a small smile. "Not at all," I returned a smile to the boy before glaring at Malfoy "you could be a little more polite," I said while glaring at Malfoy whom just rolled his eyes.

Draco and I had known each other from business encounters between our parents. He honestly used to be nice but over the past couple of years he's acted like he had a stick up his ass which he clearly gets from his father.

I looked between the two boys and put out my hand to the boy beside Draco, "my name is y/n, y/n Hawkins," I smiled at him and he shook my hand in return "Blaise, Blaise Zabini" he smiled back and then Enzo and Pansy chimed in with introducing themselves.

After a bit of introducing ourselves and trying to be nice to Malfoy we were finally pulling off from the train station. We heard the trolly cart lady asking if anyone wanted some sweets which all the boys eagerly stood up to grab some chocolate frogs and gummy snakes. Once sitting back down, Enzo pulled out a chocolate frog and handed it to me. I smiled and happily ate the frog before it could jump away and contently sat until the door burst open and two boys came running in.

We looked up at them while they laugh hysterically until finally noticing us. "Oh hello.." one of the boys said, they two boys looking exactly identical to each other. "We sort of lit fireworks in the hallway and  a few people are after us." The other spoke up while smiling.

"You lit fireworks? On a train?" I asked laughing slightly at them. "Yes, yes we did," the one on the left said. They then coughed slightly and the one on the right said "my name's Fred and this is my twin brother George" he said holding out his hand directly to me which I shook "Y/n Hawkins" I said  and they nodded before noticing Draco glaring at them "you're Weasleys" he said glaring at them rudely. "Yes, we are" the one I believe to be Fred responded before standing up straight, "my father says you family is a disgrace to the wizarding world," he says smugly and I kick him under the table which makes him yelp in pain and glare at me which I only respond with a glare back.

The boys laughed at the kick and smiled in my direction, "don't listen to him, he's just mad his dad doesn't love him" I said still glaring at Draco, my comment also getting laughs and chuckles from the boys and Pansy. "Well with that thought the coast should be clear so we'll be heading on our way," the twins said and opened the door to step out only to look back at me directly and say at the same time "we'll see you around Hawkins," they smiled and with that took off down the corridor of the train.

A few hours later and we had arrived. All first years were shoved into these boats that travelled across the lake outside the school. The view was absolutely magical as we all looked up at the school glowing in front of us.

Soon enough we were shuffled by professor McGonagall into a hallway infront of the grand hall and were told to wait while she goes to see if everything is ready.

As soon as she leaves Draco whispers to me, "what this," which I just look at him with a confused expression as he steps up to a boy infront of us which was of course the one and only, Harry Potter.

Draco tried to become friends with Potter in the worst was possible and then eventually was upset when he was declined by Potter which I laughed at due to Draco's reaction.

Soon enough we were sent into the Grand Hall and huddled together as one by one we were sorted into our houses. I once again felt nervous as I looked at the hat hoping I once again wouldn't disappoint my parents.

I guess Enzo could sense my nervousness as he looked at me with a small smile and squeezed my hand tightly. Soon after my name was called to sit under the hat and as a closed my eyes the hat yelled very loudly "SLYTHERIN" the Slytherin table yelled loudly as I walked over and sat teary eyed with Pansy, Draco, and Blaise who were all sorted before me into Slytherin.

"Hey y/n it's gonna be okay," Pansy told me reaching for my hand, I nodded and forced a smile. "It not like my parents will kill me cause I'm a Slytherin.... I hope" I whispered the last part and looked at Pansy whose eyes looked at me with concern.

Soon enough Enzo was sorted also into Slytherin and as I tried to push my parents disappointment out of my head I smiled to myself and looked at the people sat with me, at least I have my friends.

Hey everyone I just wanted to start off by saying thank you for reading the first chapter. I know we haven't met Mattheo yet but I promise we will in the second chapter. I'm kinda building my way up to meeting him to kind of get the sense of y/n before she meets Mattheo. Anyways thank you again! I'm so excited to finally be writing again!
