Chapter 7
[One by one, monsters were talked to and taken to the safety of the facility. The team roamed the streets, searching for any monster they could find. There was a monster raiding a bakery, there was a monster sleeping on a pile of money inside of the bank. One of the monsters were sleeping at the park and it took quite a lot of shouting at it until it finally woke up due to the racket Rick and Morty were causing. Several of the monsters simply roamed the streets, slowly oozing their way around the town. The number of monsters seemed to be dwindling and the crew went an hour without seeing or hearing a single one. The sun was starting to set, and the team decided it was time to take a short break.]
Steve: Nice work, everyone! We saved a pretty good number of those monsters, I bet that mother is so happy to have her children back.
Morty: D-do you think there are any more out there?
Jeff: It is a slight possibility. If there are any more, there can't be many left. Haven't seen one in at least an hour and this town isn't very big, either. We might have found all of 'em.
Steve: All that is left to do is return to the facility, open their home portal, and send 'em off home!
Rick: Greeeaat, that is good. Our work is done here. Let's go home, Morty.
Morty: W-wait, Rick! I want to watch the monsters return home!
Rick: Morty, they're just going to walk through a fucking portal and then they're home. That's all there is to it.
Morty: But Rick, there's going to be that good feeling. That good feeling because you KNOW you did something good. Even if they're just going to walk into a portal, I still want to watch them walk into the portal to go to their home.
Rick: Alright, fine. We'll go watch some monsters walk through a portal if that makes you happy.
Jeff: Alright, sounds great! We'll lead you to our facility now and send off the monsters back to their home.
[Jeff and Steve gave a nod to each other and turned around, leading the way down the road. Rick and Morty followed. The street lights were bent and broken, some of them lying on the ground as if it were a piece of shattered glass. The moon shone on the road brightly, as if illuminating a path.]
[A large silver building seemed to glow in the moonlight. The facility was at least 5 stories high and had several windows of various sizes, most of the lights being on. The facility was surrounded with tall, barbed wire fencing to prevent anyone from breaking in easily. The alligator dudes walked down the path leading to the facility and came to the security gate. Steve and Jeff looked up to the security cameras at the gate and spoke.]
Steve: Signing in, sir. Jeff and I are bringing in our guests, Rick and Morty. These two helped us save those monsters and we probably could not have done it without them. We are here to send the monsters back home.
[The camera lights turned green, and the gate to the facility opened. The outside area was well lit with several lights. The group climbed up two flights of stairs before reaching the main entrance to the inside of the facility.]
Jeff: Well, here we are. This is it. Alligator dudes rule.
[The metal door opened upon command. The door slid open and revealed the inside of the building and the group stepped inside. The door closed behind them.]
Rick: Is that really your secret password to the door opening? Alligator dudes rule? Someone's going to break in because that's a lame password.
Morty: R-rick! Don't say that!
Steve: Actually, people can't break in that easily. The systems at the door have a voice recognition system. If someone manages to get past the fence to the point of the door, it isn't simple for them to get in. If you were to say the password, it would find you as an unrecognizable unit and a camera would flash and send your image up to headquarters just to see who's trying to break in.
Rick: Well, it's still a lame password to say. At least you guys have it set up so some random ass hobo on the streets can't say it and break in.
Jeff: It's a pretty handy system and it's worked well for the past oh, at least 8 years? It's prevented several break ins and it's quite convenient. Anyways, down to the basement.
[Jeff and Steve stepped into an elevator, and Rick and Morty followed. The elevator went down a few floors before stopping on the last level of the facility. The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open.]
Steve: Well, here we are. Here's where we are going to see those monsters we saved today as well as their mother.
[The group walked into a room on the left side. In the room, you could see the bunch of monsters hanging about the room, making their gargles and quiet screeches as they chattered among each other. The biggest monster pushed itself over to greet everyone with a series of gurgles.]
Jeff: Here, this might help.
[Jeff tossed a translator device to the monster.]
Momster: Oooh, thank you so much for bringing my babies back! I am forever grateful to all of you. Without you guys, my children would have never came back and we would never have been able to gone home again. I wish I could hug you but I probably shouldn't...
[The monster mom trailed off and began sobbing.]
Morty: It's alright, ma'am! We are glad that you and your children are now safe and you can go home and live life or whatever you guys do on your planet. We are glad to have been able to help out.
Momster: T-thank you so much. All of you are welcome to visit our planet any time you want. Just contact me first so I can make sure no one attacks the heroes who saved my children.
Rick: Alright alright, enough of this happy sobfest. I don't want to be here for longer than I have to.
[Steve sighed.]
Steve: Well, are you ready to go back home?
[The monster mom nodded, and gave the translator back to Jeff. The portal opened and one by one, the monsters went through the portal, chattering their thanks on their way. The monster mom was the last one to go through the portal. She stopped in front of the portal and turned around and gave a wave, then headed into the portal. She entered the portal, and the portal closed.]
