Richelle POV

Mom and I were in the kitchen when Maddie came through the door smiling

"Mom, Richie I had the bests at doing community service at the senior center. Helping people feels so great" she told us

"Wow Maddie I'm so glad would you help me and Richelle set the table" mom asked as Maddie groaned

"I'm so tired" she complained as I smiled at her and put the silverware on the table

"I'm so proud of you and Liv. But I'm surprised you didn't pick the same project" mom told her

"Yeah well I think Liv knows the senior center is my turf. I've been there for two years. Plus it's all Florescent lighting. She says it makes her look like the flu" Maddie told mom as I put the plates on the table

"Well she was unbelievably excited about volunteering for 'Beautifying Wisconsin' mom told us

"Yeah wait till she finds out what 'Beautifying Wisconsin' actually means" I told her when Liv came in with her hair everywhere and dirt all over her body

"Turns out 'Beautifying Wisconsin' is not going door to door giving makeovers" Liv told us

"You're kidding" I asked sarcastically

"I spend two hours in a ditch! Picking up anything people through out their cars. Cigarette butts, potato chip bags, and most humiliating of all. The season one DVD of 'Sing It Loud' she told us as Maddie and I laughed as mom hit our shoulders telling us to stop

The next day at school we were all standing in the hallway near Paulie the Porcupine as everyone cheered but me

"Alright porcupines Friday night we play our biggest rivals The Fairview Tiger Sharks" Diggie said as everyone but me started booing

"And ever year those Tiger Sharks try to steal our beloved mascot Paulie The Porcupine" Diggie said as everyone but me started cheering

"But the night before the big game two freshman are chosen to watch over Paulie. As basketball team captain I have selected Joey Rooney and Skippy Ramirez to keep Paulie safe from those Tiger Sharks" Diggie said as Joey and Skippy walked up as everyone started booing as I chuckled

"I'm sorry just to be clear are you booing us or are you booing the Tiger Sharks" Joey asked as everyone started booing again

"Dude stop saying Tiger Sharks" Skippy told him as everyone started booing as Joey nervously laughed

"We are your Paulie Protectors" Joey yelled as everyone cheered as everyone walked to class

"Look dudes just make sure you don't let anything happen to Paulie shes our good luck charm" Diggie told them

"I'll crush anyone who comes near him" Skippy said as I turned to Joey

"I can't believe I'm saying this but Joey I think you're the muscle" I told him

"Well at least Richelle believes in us" Joey said smiling

"Oh I don't I'm just waiting to see how long it will take you to fail" I said as I started my stopwatch

"You're on the clock boys" I told them as I walked away going to class

After school I walked out my dance studio and looked up and saw Paulie swinging from the tree

"You really think no one is gonna notice a huge Porcupine stature swinging from the tree" I asked Joey and Skippy

"Please no one looks up anymore everyone is on their phones" Joey told me

"Lemonade" Skippy asked as I shrugged

"Yeah okay" I said as I pulled up a lawn chair and started drinking some lemonade

After a while of just lounging there Diggie walked up to us

"What is wrong with you two" Diggie asked Skippy and Joey as they jumped up

"What's wrong did you see sharks" Skippy asked

"No but I'll let you know what I did see a giant bronze porcupine statue swinging from the tree when I was three blocks away" he yelled at them

"Ok that is a problem but you have to admit it when you're standing right here you don't even see it at all" Joey told him

"We have to get him back if people found out you took him you'll be outcasts. I'll be the doofus who picked the outcasts and I'm not gonna he Diggie the Doofus" Diggie yelled at them

"Too late" I told him stirring my straw in my lemonade

"Okay well get him down" Joey told him giving me his lemonade as I put it down

"Oh yeah take your time Joe" Diggie told him calmly "Go" he yelled as Joey jumped and ran to the tree

"Will you two get under Paulie I'm going to let him down gently" Joey told Diggie and Skippy

"This stupid thing is stuck" Joey said trying to pull the string as it started swaying back and forth when the string cane unloose and the statue fell on top of dads new grill

"Dads grill" Joey yelled

"Paulie" Diggie yelled

"My lemonade" Skippy yelled

I stood up and walked over to the boys and looked at the broken statue and then I looked at dads grill as I stopped the time of my stopwatch

"And time wow five hours personal best" I told them as I drunk some of my lemonade

Parker rode his scooter over to us

"I fixed my scooter losers" Parker told us

"Parker beat it we have to find out" Joey said as he stopped himself and looked at Parker

"Wait a second how did you get your scooter back together" Joey asked him

"Oh my new invention Parker Paste Patent Pending sticks to anything I just glued dads toilet seat shut so after dinner get ready for the show" Parker told us

"Parker your paste might be the only thing to get me out of this jam well I beg of you sad your brother Parker please give me some glue" Joey begged him

"And what we have here is what we call a swap-portunity" he said as I put my hand over my heart

"I taught him so well" I said as he took Skippy's lemonade and Diggie's Letterman Jacket

"Pleasure doing business with you butt bags" he said drinking some lemonade

"Diggie your better than this" Parker told him as I nodded and went inside the house

The next day at school it was game day and it looked like the whole Paulie was in one piece but Parker told me Parker Paste is a bust so this should be interesting

Everyone was clapping and cheering as we waited for Diggie to say something

"Alright Porcupines We made it to game day and Paulie is safe and sound" Diggie said as everyone clapped

"Gentlemen your ceremonial bratwursts to bestow upon Paulie" Diggie said as Joey and Skippy bowed down and Diggie put the bratwurst around their necks as everyone clapped

"Alright did the honors" Diggie told them as they put the sausage around Paulie's neck as everyone clapped

"Boo Yah" they yelled unzipping their jackets as it was in the wrong order

"Yah Boo" I read as everyone started laughing and booing as they looked down

"Oh we're yah boo we're yah boo switch switch switch" Joey said as they switched spots

"Boo yah" they said again as this time everyone looked at them in silence when we heard creaking and turned and saw the Paulie statue in pieces

"Go porcupines" Joey yelled as he and Skippy ran away as people started booing them

"I love school" I said laughing
