CHAPTER 5
I awoke to the annoying sound of my stupid alarm clock. Grimacing with still shut eyes, I felt for my phone, pressing the volume down key to silence its blaring.
Yawning as I sat up, I removed my silk, dark pink sleeping eye mask from my face. I had to blink a few times in order to adjust to the bright sunlight that flowed in through the almost sheer yellow curtains.
Lazily looking to my left, I got hit by a pair of dark brown eyes smiling over at me.
"AH!!" I screamed, terrified. Was this creep watching me sleep all night?
"Morning sunshine!" Natalie chirped as she sprang out of her ugly, yellow bed sheets.
Okay, she is officially a nutjob. Who wakes up this damn happy, first thing at six in the morning?!
Groggily getting up, after stretching, I made my way into the bathroom. Well, after pushing Natalie out of the way first.
After about forty-five minutes of doing my daily morning routine and flawlessly putting on my makeup, I exited the bathroom to see her struggling to stand with her legs crossed over each other
"Daisy, didn't you hear me knocking?! " She asked. "I've been needing to use the bathroom for almost an hour!"
"Yeah, but after about five minutes I tuned you out," I said casually, making my way back into the room as I passed her.
Digging through the closet, I decided dressing in a red, tight fitted, semi-crop top with black, mid-rise short shorts to accentuate my stunning body.
I touched up my cherry red lipstick in the mirror as I took in my look. My foundation, concealer and bronzer was blended better than my morning protein shakes. My winged eyeliner was done neatly, accentuating my already slight cat eye shape. The YSL mascara coated each long lash as I batted them. At every angle, the sunlight hit my highlighted cheekbones and under brows beautifully.
Taking a wide tooth comb and some beach wave spray, I gently detangled my gorgeous hair as I let it down from the high bun that I slept in, thus, giving me heat less waves.
Afterwards, I grabbed my red Prada shoulder bag and phone, leaving the room.
I quickly turned back around to grab a new notebook from off of Natalie's desk. I'm sure she won't mind.
As I walked into the kitchen, I got hit with a savory smell. I couldn't believe my eyes. Mother, she was.. was.. COOKING!
"Mother are you feeling okay?!" I asked, placing my hand on her forehead. She clearly must have gotten sick and is now delirious.
"I'm fine sweetheart," she giggled as she sat a full plate and bowl on the table.
"...You're cooking?" I suspiciously questioned as I eyed her.
"Oh yes, I know. I figured I'd make you a nice breakfast for once," she said before a small frown crept on her face. Looking downwards a bit, she solemnly stuck her hands inside the pockets of her Versace robe.
I wonder why she looks sad? Does she feel guilty that she never cooks like how Aunt Hana does? I mean, I never complained. Our old chef is one of the best in the world!
As I looked down at the food, I could tell it was another Japanese themed meal.
"That's cheezu tamagoyaki, nori onigiri, and miso soup. It's just a traditional breakfast that I used to eat when I was young," she said with a faint smile.
I nodded before silently saying grace, and took a bite out of the cheesy, egg omelet. The flavor was out of this world! Wow, I didn't know under that slight botox, was a master chef!
As I happily slurped the soup, Natalie rushed in, looking a tad distraught.
Oh well, she should have gotten up earlier. Or maybe I shouldn't have stayed in the bathroom for so long? Either way, not my problem.
"Would you like some breakfast, Natalie?" Mother asked. "I made plenty."
"Yes please," Natalie responded politely.
What a suck up.
"Mmm. This is even better than mom's," she complimented with her mouth still full.
"Well she was always a better cook than me," Aunt Hana said as she came into the kitchen, filling a cup with green tea.
"Yeah," mother agreed as she flipped her black hair over her shoulder. "I guess I just stopped when I realized I didn't have to anymore," she said in thought.
"Oh shoot, we have to go!" Natalie exclaimed as she eyed the time on her phone. She hastily got up before sprinting out of the house.
I rolled my eyes and stood up, giving mother a hug goodbye. She slipped me some cash as I made my way to the front door. Strapping on my new, black Prada sandals, I made my way out to the car.
••••••
I sat frozen when we arrived at the cramped parking lot.
"I don't think I can do this."
"Daisy, you'll be fine," Natalie assured with a smile. "It's no different than your old school I bet."
"Um, correction. It is COMPLETELY different from my old school. Like, for starters, you just parked here yourself. At my old school, we have valet. Oh, and everyone surely dresses and looks a lot better than the sorry saps here."
Natalie sighed before opening the door to get out. I then quickly followed suit. No way was I going to be left alone so one of these creeps could rob me!
As we made our way on the sidewalk, we crossed paths with Natalie's two friends from the coffee shop. What were their names again? Axel and Kelly? Oh well, who cares.
"Hey, guys!" Natalie greeted them. "Alex, Kaitlyn, you two remember my cousin Daisy, right?"
"Of course I do!" Kaitlyn fawned. "Girl, I just liked the 'outfit of the day' pic you posted an hour ago. You look so fetch.
Did she just say 'fetch'? Wow. I can only take pity on this girl. But she does seem to be completely infatuated with me. And after all, a Queen Bee does need her posse of admirers and minions to be on her side. Yes, she will do just fine...
I smirked to myself as I got lost in my thoughts again. Except, I got out of them by hearing a loud, howling whistle coming from behind me.
"Ooo damn baby, you looking good in these shorts."
I know whoever that cretin is better not be talking to me. I turned around to see just who this creep was.
"Hey, Gary, back off, would ya?" Alex defended me, annoyed with the behavior of said guy.
"No, it's okay, I got this," I smirked, facing the obnoxious stranger.
"Ooh damn girl, and you looking exotic too! What's your name?" The random asked. His eyes widening while taking in my appearance.
"Okay, first of all, I'm not a wild animal, so I'm not 'exotic'. And second of all, I don't know what deranged planet you're from, but hot girls like me DO NOT socialize with disrespectful, heinous, SCUM like you," I stated, flipping my hair over my shoulder.
He just stood there, basically salivating at the mouth. Yuck! Clearly girls who tell him off was a turn on?
"Oooh you got some spice too!"
That's it! I've officially had it with this guy!
"You have literally two seconds to get away from me before I show you what my past 12 years of karate is all about!"
"Oh damn girl, no need to get angry!" He said before hurrying off.
Ugh, first day and I'm already getting hit on by these losers.
"Sorry about that," Alex apologized. "Gary is known to be a bit of a pig."
"Wasn't your fault, no need to apologize," I said, dusting off my top. Who knows what type of germs spread on it just by standing near that bumpkin.
"You sure handled him though," Natalie grinned.
"Yeah, I totally thought you were gonna kick his butt!" Kaitlyn admired. "But he is right, you do have a unique look," she pondered.
"Well my mom mixed with Japanese and black, while my dad is white; French-American to be exact," I stated, clearing the air about my race.
"Yeah, just like me!" Natalie smiled, trying to include herself.
'Who asked?' I thought, rolling my eyes.
"Hey Daisy, what classes do you have today?" Alex spoke up.
I took my phone out and scrolled to my class schedule that was emailed to me. "Uhm, First class is with a Mr. Peterson."
I looked up to see everyone stop abruptly and stare at me.
"What?" I questioned.
"Daisy, can I see that?" Natalie asked, talking about my phone.
I rolled my eyes and handed it to her.
"Woah, No way!" Kaitlyn said mouth wide, as she looked over at the screen.
"Okay, can someone please explain to me what's going on?" I asked, getting annoyed.
"Daisy, these are all the top advanced placement and college level classes," Natalie said, a bit shocked.
"Yeah, so?"
"Oh, it's just that, uh, nothing." She then shook her head and gave a small smile before returning my phone back to me.
Ah, there it was. The old, 'Daisy you're so pretty and rich, so how could you be smart too?' Yeah, unfortunately I'm used to it. People tend to believe that I'm just another airhead socialite, before actually getting to know me.
"Well, Mr. Peterson teaches advanced finance. Do you want to be an accountant one day or something?" Alex chuckled out.
"I'm going to be a successful business tycoon," I said seriously.
Everyone gulped when they saw the look I put on. Yeah, I may be hot and a social media celebrity now, but I have other goals for the future too. Little does everyone know.
"Well uhm, I'll walk you there," Natalie spoke up.
"Yeah, we have to head to English class, but we'll see you two at lunch," Kaitlyn smiled before she and Alex walked off.
After a few minutes of walking the dingy halls, we arrived at the wooden door that was my first class.
"I have to go to physics now, but text me if you need help with anything," Natalie said. "Oh, and Mr. Peterson is known for being pretty tough on grading, so just try to keep up, okay?"
"Try to keep up? Psh, oh please, Natalie. Valley Water High's curriculum is the second best in the nation. I'm sure this mediocre class will be a piece of cake," I confidently smirked before making my way inside.
That smirk soon quickly faded from my lips as I took a few steps in the door. Instead, a look of disgust took its place. This classroom was nothing like my old, spacious homeroom class. It was, like, literally half the size. The floor was even wooden instead of marble! Oh, and would you believe that it had a chalkboard instead of an electric board?! I've died and traveled back to the 18'th century...
Sighing, I looked for a place to sit. Almost every seat was taken already, except for two in the back near the large window. Gently stitting my Prada bag down, I took a seat at the long wooden table. The teacher hadn't arrived yet, so I took the time to scroll through the unchecked notifications on my phone.
After a few short moments of being distracted, I soon felt a tall and dominant presence stand in front of me.
"Hn, you're in my seat."
That deep, sultry voice sounded quite familiar. Hm? Where have I heard it before?
Oh, now I remember!
I looked up to see the hottie that I had bumped into at the coffee shop yesterday.
Ooo this class is gonna be interesting.
